From Lake Como Or Milan: Bernina Red Train Tour

This was a great experience and the scenery was beautiful. Unfortunately, there had been a recent fire near the tracks and we were not able to ride the train the entire way, however, Giovanni immediately decided to drive us to the next station instead of sending us on the bus that the trains were using to move passengers to the next stop. Furthermore, he dos a great job of telling us about the history and taking us to “surprise” stops.

Great experience with Giovanni. He was knowledgeable and helpful. We had great seats on the train and the views of the Alps were amazing.

Wonderful experience from Start to finish. Giavanni our driver was professional, informative and fun. The drive to Tirano was diverse with scenic views of farms, wine vineyards, mountains, and towns along the route. A bonus experience was seeing the magical church in Tirano. Wonderful experience! Giavanni hand delivered us to the Red bernini train and made sure we boarded the correct train to St moritz. It was snowing in st moritz and Giavanni met us in the st moritz train station with a pair of women’s gloves for my Lady. Nice touch!! Giavanni also provided lunch recommendations in St Moritz, and coordinated our meeting place and time. Well done! The 2 hour plus train ride was amazing and picturesque. Fun to wrap around the mountain with lake and mountain views. Tons of pictures at different elevations and scenery. On the drive back to town, we stopped to take pictures of a beautiful waterfalls. Magnificent! Overall a fun adventure and journey from start to finish. 😀☝️

Definitely the best tour we have ever been on. Switzerland is breathtaking, especially the train part of this tour. Photos I have attached don't do justice. After reading many reviews, we requested Giovanni as our driver. He is knowledgeable but more importantly kind, caring with a great sense of humour!

A wonderful personal driver service from Como to Tirana to catch the Red Bernina. Our dedicated driver Giovanni then picked us up in Saint Moritz to return to our apartment in Como. Giovanni took great care of us on our tour making sure all our needs were met so our day was perfect. He was a great historian of local knowledge which we found very interesting and enjoyable. Giovanni included surprise stops for photo opportunities which enhanced our experience. We enjoyed good conversation and Giovanni's humour made u laugh adding to a great day. The Bernina Red Train experience with our driver Giovanni was a once in a lifetime experience. Giovanni was informative, friendly and lots of fun. He took the trouble to make extra stops so that we could take in the views. The train itself was beautiful and the views from the train were breathtaking. I cannot recommend this experience as Giovanni as our driver and guide enough. Five star experience!

My hubby and I had the best time on this trip. We had Giovanni who picked us up from the hotel at Bellagio and took us to the train station with a stop at a place for coffee. Then made sure we got on the train at Tirano, Italy. We had first class tickets and we could open the windows. The train ride from Tirano to st. Moritz was fabulous. The best views and it was a 2 hour train ride! Giovanni met us at the train station in St Moritz. We dropped us off at a street where he recommended us to eat lunch and shop. He drove us back to Bellagio with a surprise stop at the most beautiful waterfall fall . He was very informative and a lovely man that made our experience the best ! I highly recommend this trip and Giovanni!

Giovanni was very gracious and professional. By the end of our day, Giovanni felt like a friend. He shared much history, stopped along the way so we could get good pictures, and he pointed out many things we might have missed. He is top notch. I highly recommend Giovanni to everyone

The views were incredible with so many photo worthy moments! The staff was amazing to deal with from the beginning to the end. They took care of us and treated us to surprises along the way. It was an awesome experience that I would highly recommend.

Our train ride on the Bernina Express far exceeded our expectations. Lake Como Tourism organised and executed everything perfectly. Great communication from Rhea (the travel consultant) the scenery from the train was spectacular. We were collected on time by Angelo (our driver) and accompanied by Rhea who acted as Tour guide on the road components Bellano to Tirano and St Moritz back to Bellano. After the train arrived in St Moritz we stopped there for lunch and shopping then returned via amazing lake scenery and a wonderful waterfall. A long but full day. Recommend 100%.

Quite a memorable trip! Our trip began with our driver Giovanni who did a magnificent job of narrating our drive from Cadenabbia to Torino. He was informative, entertaining and friendly! A great ambassador for Italy and this trip. The train ride to St Moritz was fantastic and a once in a lifetime experience. The mountains are majestic and the views spectacular. Once in St. Moritz, Giovanni was waiting for us to get off the train and bring us to the center of St. Moritiz where we lunched and had time for sight seeing. Giovanni then took us on a scenic drive down the Alps back to Cadenabbia, again providing a narrative and perspective on the sights in front of us. Over all I would highly recommend this day trip. Giovanni was an added bonus for us. Great job all the way around

We enjoyed a beautiful day with our guide and driver Giovanni! He was so friendly and helpful! He picked us up at our apartment in Menaggio and drove us to the Bernina train station. He had tickets ready and made sure we knew where we needed to be and where to meet him in St Moritz. The train ride was spectacular! The views were amazing from the clean quiet train. He met us at the train and gave recommendations for lunch places and shopping. He took photos for us and entertained us with history and his fun personality! He spoke excellent English and really connected with my teenage kids with his humor! After St Moritz we drove down from the mountains and stopped at an overlook and beautiful waterfall. After a great day he delivered us back to our apartment. Our family LOVED this trip and we LOVED Giovanni! We would recommend this trip to everyone and would absolutely do it again! We hope to tour with Giovanni in the future as well!

The scenery was spectacular! The drive to the train station, the train ride up the mountain to St Moritz and the scenic car ride back down the mountain was breath taking. Our guide, Giovanni, was not only informative but entertaining. He made several great photo stops along the way, which added to this amazing day. If you want to see some of the most beautiful vistas Europe has to offer this tour is a must!

The views on the Express was breath taking and our driver Giovanni also became our guide and toured us around the town nearby and brought us to a lovely waterfall nearby so we could immerse ourselves in the stunnung views. A very pleasant surprise!

From the very beginning, working with our booking agent, Rea,through to the trip itself with our driver, Giovanni, our experience was excellent, and I would recommend it to others. I sincerely appreciated how we were treated by the agency with an extreme care of professionalism, knowledge , and timely responses. The driver picked us up at our doorstep, explained our itinerary, and drove us to the train station to catch our train. He had our tickets and walked with us to make sure that we were properly taken care of. After the trip, he picked us up and explained more about that region of Italy while driving us back to our house. And to my amazement, Rea was corresponding with me to make sure that they fulfilled our expectations. First class treatment.!

This was an unforgettable experience! So many beautiful sights to see in Switzerland. The Bernini train was one of a kind and covered everything from lakes to snow capped mountains. It was magical to see the kite surfers on Lake Silvaplana. Now onto the real star of the tour, Giovanni! He is positive, warm, funny, passionate and eager to share his wealth of knowledge. He was invested in us learning and went the extra mile to capture moments with his photography skills. He pointed out areas of significance that went above and beyond the described tour. He described himself as a tour guide, teacher, comedian, photographer and we concur! Grazie!

Our private driver, Giovanni picked us up in a very nice van. Giovanni was very knowledgeable on the history of the areas we were travelling on our way to meet the Bernina Express. He was funny and very entertaining. Now to the train ride - what can I say - it's the best train ride I've ever been on. The views and the tunnels we went through - I have no words - simply spectacular. The villages we pass were like a postcard. The drive back from St Moritz was amazing also, driving the malajora pass was windy but crazy beautiful. Giovanni had little surprises for us and my favourite was the acquafraggia in Piuro. St Moritz was beautiful but very expensive.

Giavanni met us at St Moritz with recommendations for lunch and shopping. Equally breathtaking was the drive back to Menaggio. We stopped at beautiful lakes, waterfalls and view points for photographs. Giavanni made this day trip a day to remember for us both which we will always be grateful for. What a wonderful experience - made even better with our guide, Giovionni!! The train ride was breathtaking and a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Giovionni arrived promptly at our property for a ride to the train station in Tirano. During this ride, Giovionni taught us some helpful Italian phrases and gave us a thorough overview of what to expect. Once we arrived in Tirano, Giovanni escorted us directly to our train and recommended where to sit and things to be on the lookout for during our ride. The train ride itself was absolutely mesmerizing- we saw towering mountains, beautiful lakes, clear mountain streams and mesmerizing waterfalls. At the peak of the ride we were actually above tree level which is always an incredible experience. Once we arrived at the train station in St. Moritz, Giovionni once again promptly greeted us and took us to the center of town where he recommended some restaurants and shops to visit. At the end of our time in St Moritz, Giovionni promptly met up with us in the town center and drove us back to our property! No problems the entire trip - what a day!!!

This tour was really comfortable as we have a driver at disposal. He was really friendly and funny. Though the ride from Lake Como to Tirano was a bit long, it was worth it because the train ride was really magnificient. Absolutely love the scenery, all nature!

Booking on the Express is a simple task Either online or at Swiss Rail information offices. Wether starting out from Swiss side or the Italian side (Tirano), the journey is through spectacular countryside, seating is comfortable and with the Panorama windows, the viewing is clear and wide as well as high ,to the peaks and the valleys. FirstClass is recommended but 2nd class is virtually as good. A must if you are visiting Switzerland and want to make the most of the vistas of the country. If you enjoy this train trip, I would recommend the journey from Locarno to Dommadosola as well. And this can be a leg of a journey to Lake Magiore or back to Central Switzerland.

He took very good care to explain the history and culture of each area we drove through, he was so prompt and thorough, very kind and flexible. This tour was magnificent! Our tour guide, Giovanni was knowledgeable and friendly - and so happy to share the Italian culture with us. He made excellent recommendations! The Bernina Express was unforgettable and possibly the best part of our trip!! This is one that is definitely worth your time if you’re anywhere near Lake Como for more than 1 day. The driver, Giovanni, was perfect and the train ride was an absolute wonder through the Swiss Alps. St Moritz is a dream!
