It is a long day. From Como it is two coach journeys there and two back. Organisation and guides were very good. Loo stop provided both ways. The espress did not disappoint. We were allocated a whole viewing carriage class 2 to the tour with each couple getting a window seat and the one alongside. There was no hassle or bullying to get a seat. It all worked well with a sensible supportive commentary in the languages required so key features of the route were not missed. BUT it is a long day.

This extraordinary journey traverses breathtaking scenery, with spectacular views of snow-capped mountains, glittering glaciers and enchanting Alpine valleys. The UNESCO World Heritage route of the Bernina Express offers an unforgettable experience as the train climbs to an altitude of 2,253 metres on the Bernina Pass, one of the highest points reached by a railway in Europe. Passengers will be able to enjoy the panorama thanks to the large windows in the carriages, designed to offer a full view of the landscape. During the journey, the train will pass iconic sites such as Lake Bianco and the helical viaduct of Brusio, guaranteeing indelible memories. This journey is not just a transfer, but an immersion in natural beauty and Swiss engineering. An experience not to be missed!

The highest point of the itinerary! It opens up before you a landscape of immense beauty, so much so that it has inspired many romantic writers in the past. Touch the sky with a finger and enjoy the breathtaking panorama.

It's time for a ride! The train will transit on the Brusio Spiral Viaduct.
Tirano is a small corner of Italy, on the border with neighboring Switzerland, with authentic flavors and slow rhythms. The largest Basilica in Valtellina is located here. This is the Bernina Express' last stop.

Incredible coach journey, with great views of Lake Como and the surrounding countryside. The journey along the Maloja pass was an unexpected highlight for us. Plenty of time in St Moritz for a quick lunch before boarding the train. Great seats on the train with fantastic views, our guide was extremely informative about what we saw, her own love of the journey was evident as she spoke to us. Whilst this is a long day, it was well worth it for the coach journey and the train something we may never get the chance to do again.
This was something everyone should experience! It was an amazing trip with the best host. Monica. She was so helpful, knowledgeable and and kind. She went out of her way to make sure to make it a wonderful experience.
It was a very well organised trip and Cristina the guide was excellent and very good ensuring you knew next steps etc. The only thing that spoilt it was we joined the coach later (connection from Lake Como). Whilst the connection was smooth, families already on the coach had decided they wanted a window seat each. More than one family had done this so we were unable to sit as a couple as loads of single seats left. I think the company should ensure for those joining later on the journey, they have these reserved and have more control over other customers taking up seat as we’ve all paid a decent price to be there! We asked the one person if they could move and sit with one of the people they were with but they refused. The only other issue was being pushed and shoved to get on Bernina express, but this is the behaviour of the young adults coming up from behind you and not the fault of the company/trip itself. I would recommend as the trip, scenery, Cristina and the excellent coach driver made it all so worthwhile.
You bus to St. Moritz Switzerland . Then take train back to Tirano Italy . Train ride is about 2.5 hours.
What a great day, yes it was a long day but the scenery and train ride overrides the early morning start. Well organized and guide gave clear instructions and tips for the day to run smoothly. This experience was one of the best we have done.
A fantastic trip but be prepared for a very very long day. Coach journey with a 40 min stop. Sounded great until you had to queue 30 mins to purchase a ticket for a coffee. At least 3 other coaches stopping at the same time. Ridiculous. However, St Moritz was beautiful. Tour guide very pleasant and professional.
Definitely a bucket list experience. Long day but worth it. Our guide was very informative and interesting.
Excellent value for the money. Bus driver and guide were great
Long day but overall amazing experience. First stop for coffee felt rushed (only had 5 min to eat given long line wait to pay/order and not allowed to eat in bus). Guide very knowledgeable and friendly. Had more time than expected in st moritz- which was amazing as we ended up having 2h instead of 1 which made a big difference as we had proper time to enjoy delicious cheese fondue at Stefani’s (highly recommend) and shop for gifts. Train ride was magnificent - outstanding panoramic views and to see glaciers was breathtaking. We had another unexpected stop for 30min which wasn’t the best - nothing really to do other than grab a drink or gelato. That being said , highly recommend ! Just wish we had more time in St Moritz!!!!
Trip to St Moritz and Bernini Express experience excellent. However, 3 days before the trip, I changed the date to a day earlier. All confirmed. On day of trip (2 days after change) neither the driver of the first bus nor the guide who we joined later, had confirmation of my booking causing considerable angst to all concerned. Also we spent a wasted 90 minutes in Tirano in 35 degrees of heat waiting for three fellow travellers, who had done their own thing mid-trip, to re-join us.
Carol + Antonio were great. Everything was exactly as it was described on the iteneraey section when booking
This very special activity was one of the highlights of our stay in Como, Italy. Our host, Monica, was lovely and made the trip delightful. I wish we would have had another hour to spend in St. Moritz to take in the scenery. We felt a bit rushed for lunch but otherwise it was a wonderful experience!
It was a great experience, truly very well done ! Pick up from Como was on time and centrally located. Bus driver did a fantastic job negotiating the switch backs in the bus. Monica was a fabulous tour guide giving us all the information on meeting points and times very clearly. Monica was amazing with her information and advising best spots to eat, photo opportunities and general information
Great day tour. The scenery all the way there and back was stunning. Perfect amount of time given at each stop. Our guide Mario was informative and helpful!
All very good - collection from Como, joined up with the main bus and met Monica who was excellent all day. Few hours in St Moritz good but main attraction the Bernise express train. Very good day out
Wonderful ride on the Bernina Express with beautiful views. Made more magical by the fact it snowed in June! Monica the guide was lovely. The coach trip from Como took around 3 hours, which wasn’t a problem except for the lack of toilet stops. This made it extremely stressful for those of us who are older. Please take this into consideration in future. It somewhat spoiled a lovely day.
This trip is well worth doing. Early start from Como where we got a minibus transfer with 3 other wonderful people to the coach pick up point. The coach was very comfortable and our guide was lovely and very knowledgeable. The coach took us to St Moritz. The scenery en route St Moritz was just phenomenal and photos do not do it justice. Unfortunately, we found St Moritz a bit of a disappointment. It’s nowhere near as beautiful as Garda and Como and actually felt quite sterile. All of the shops (which are all designer) were closed as the season has not started. That said, I’ve no doubt it would be beautiful in winter. An hour is more than long enough in St Moritz. We then boarded the Bernina Express to Terano. More stunning scenery and photo opportunities. Although you can buy food and drink on the train we took our own. Best to sit on the right hand side of the train for scenery although it is gorgeous both sides. The train also has WiFi. We were advised to put our phones on airplane mode as Switzerland not part of roaming and very expensive. Once in Terano, we spent an hour before getting the coach back to Como. NB The train takes you one way and coach back) The trip is all about the scenery. It’s a long day but very worthwhile doing. The icing on the cake was meeting fabulous people.
Great! Everything was very organized. Paying attention to details. Great company and great tour guide.
It was a beautiful trip. Be prepared for a long day, but the guide was wonderful and you never had to worry about getting from the bus to St. Moritz to the train and back to the bus again. Very professional and knowledgeable.
The Alps are beautiful, St. Moritz was basically closed except for a few stores. Our tour guide acted like a bully at times, telling us to stop talking or not to sit in a certain spot. He acted like we were children! I’m no child at 68, a lighter mood from him would have made the trip amazing.
The tour guide was really great. Energetic, knkowledgable, and provided a wonderful experience. We enjoyed beautiful scenery while also learning a lot about the area around the Italian/Swiss border.
Great mountain and valley views. Bus going up pass was amazing driving. Tour guide was very funny and organized.
Unfortunately, inclement weather (rain and clouds) made it very difficult to see the bigger mountains (why, I'm guessing, most sign up for this excursion.) I understand the tour operator can't control the weather, but everyone should be aware of this before they book. The bigger disappointed was how the tour company handled the bus transportation. Unprecedented flooding in Lake Como made the travel bus 45 minutes late. It would have been understandable if they notified us via the same text messaging platform they used that morning reminding us to be on time. As a result, we waited in the rain wondering if the trip was cancelled. The van driver that finally picked us up offered no explanation or apology. The delay also shortened our stop in St. Moritz to less than an hour (versus 2.) Again, I realize the travel company can't control the weather, but I feel like things could have been handled better.
Wonderful trip. Tour guide was excellent!!!!!! Views were spectacular! Highly recommend this tour for all.
The weather was so bad we started to walk to the meeting place in pouring rain and thunder and lightning, the water on the road was over our ankles. We contacted the trip coordinator prior to the departure time that we could not make it. I requested a refund and was denied. I find that a poor customer service response.
This was an excellent train journey on the Bernina Express. However getting from Como to St Moritz & especially back again was a challenging series of coach trips that involved a change & no stops on the return journey (3hrs). The whole day was 13hrs long for essentially a 2 & a half hour beautiful train ride plus lovely mountain views along the way, with an hour to explore St Moritz. However a lot of the journey was in long tunnels too. It's a lovely experience in the mountains and on the train but you do need stamina for the coach journey. Our guide was enthusiastic but with 3 languages to convey by the time he got around to English the area he was describing was often passed or we were back in a long road tunnel.
The tour is along day but worth it. The train journey through the Italian alps is stunning with great scenery. Unfortunately tje day went it was very cloudy with rain but the views and train were still very enjoyable. Our Italian tour guide...sorry don't know his name....was great. Gave us lots of information and was really funny but didn't waffle or overdo the facts. A little more time in St Moritz would have been nice so you could explore the town a bit more.
The itinerary was a bit misleading. We started in Como, but apparently there was another group that started in Milan. We boarded a bus in Como and then went to another meeting place to meet up on a larger bus with the group from Milan. The stop for coffee was very nice and had good food. We only had about an hour in St. Moritz which was too short. The Bernina train was definitely the highlight of the trip, and we had great weather and beautiful views. Trip back I felt took longer than it should as we again had to meet up with another bus driver to take us back to Como. Most disappointing part of the tour was the tour guide. She had minimal knowledge and pointed out obvious things like 'There is Lake Como' on your right side. While on the train, she sat at one end of the train carriage we were all in and did get up and say a few things, but most of the group could not hear her. She didn't make an effort to move forward in the train and repeat herself for those of us not sitting within a few rows of where she sat.
Trip was worth it. Awesome views. Something you do once. Tour guide was great. Only issue was with pick up. Arranged an alternate pickup location but once I had paid got no responses from tour operator. Completely ignored. Had no idea how to meet up with bus. Luckily sound other bus drivers helped me locate my driver and all was well. Tour guide said they were meant to send me a photo for who to meet but got nothing. Lesson learned get all the details before you pay.
Fabulous experience seeing St Moritz and then taking the train. Beautiful scenery and a snowball fight at the station halfway
The tour was well organized. All staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The sights were amazing both on the bus and train. You also had a couple of hours on your own in St Moritz.
Monica was an amazing tour guide. She was very knowledgeable and excited to show the group the highlights of the tour. We were made aware of all the details in advance, and Monica was very good at keeping the group together.
It’s a long day but very enjoyable long trips in the bus both at the start and finish but the train journey was worth it. You’re only in St Moritz for less than an hour list of the day is in the bus
Loved every minute. Picked up in como by a shuttle to meet the coach, The images , views , our excursion leader , everything was great. The bus trip and train beautiful.
Amazing experience! Our guide was lovely and very attentive! The views from the windows were breathtaking! Would definitely recommend
It is a wonderful day trip. Very scenic! Would have loved to stay for more time in St. Moritz, so we will have to go back! Guide was lovely and train was beautiful!
Please forgive me, I believe my tour guide's name was Sergio and he was awesome! Wealth of knowlege and a great story teller. My one recommendation that I didn't know: sit on the right side of the bus ride and the right side of the train. If you sit on the left, you won't get the clear photos of the beauties.
From the Pick up point to the drop off has been a great service. We met Monica our tour guide and Matteo the driver who’s been nothing but “awesome”. They make the trip experience one for the books. 10star for them. Monica gave so much knowledge about the history of the places we pass by . She was so kind and helpful. Matteo driving skills is amazing . He is expert maneuvering in narrow roads . Overall we are happy with the trip. Also I wanna add that Monica and Matteo went above and beyond with our request and made possible. Thank you so much! For sure to recommend this tour with friend! Great experience.
What an experience, it was our main day trip of our 30th wedding anniversary superb views and our fantastic guide Monica
Beautiful scenery… Amazing train ride, the highlight of the trip. Alice our guide was very helpful throughout the trip
The train is beautiful and the views are amazing. Everything was timed perfectly and we had 2 hours in St. Moritz and a half hour in Tirano plus a coffee stop. The only negative, which you can’t do anything about, is that it’s a long journey on the bus!
Beautiful day trip to St Moritz and the Alps. Lots of great views. Long coach rides but well worth it
Frigerio Viagg SRL tour operator did not respond any inquiry we submitted the day before. We did not realize the high attitude of this tour might present big risk to my husband’s open heart surgery he had just last year not within their 24 hours free cancellation period. We only learned about this in the evening of the day before the trip thru another tour guide who familiar with this tour.
The bus ride to and from the train was way longer than we anticipated (I didn't see that the actual ride to get to and from would take over 5 hours) and the bus stunk. We were the only Americans on the trip, and we had a very hard time understanding our director. She was great as far as knowledge, but without being able to understand, it was difficult to enjoy. The views from the train were amazing, but we were on there such a short period of time compared to what it took to get there.
I did not research this enough and could have done it much cheaper organising it myself , I already had the car and could have drove there myself . It's a very long day especially coming from Menaggio as we had an hour to travel to get to the pick up point and then the mad dash to try to find a parking space . the train ride itself lasts 2.5 hours and is spectacular . The bus ride is significantly longer but also goes through some spectacular scenery . The host is quite amusing and we learned some interesting facts .
The views were amazing!! Early spring with lots of waterfalls. A well worthwhile trip. It is a little confusing not knowing the best way to book the trip. I would recommend that the tour description be updated and more descriptive of catching a bus in Como and riding the train from St Moritz to Turano. But it all worked out well. Our tour guide was nice and kept us all together. A tour guide from another group while helping to be describing our views, would often stand in the way of tourists trying to see or take photos.
The actual ride was incredible. The guide was not. We walk slowly and do not expect others to wait for us BUT, the guide repeatedly waited to give instructions about meeting places and times until she was off the bus/train. We were generally some of the last, but on 2 occasions she was already walking head and we could not catch up. Again, WE DO NOT EXPECT ANYONE TO WAIT OR US, we can walk along on our own, but we need crucial info about where we need to go next and time. This was especially a problem at San Moritz a she was already at the entrance to the escalator and I tried to call to her. Eventually, after finding our ways to the village, I “jogged” while yelling to 2 other passengers. When I recomended that the guide give the info before disembarking, she didn’t respond. Very unsatisfactory!!
We had a truly wonderful experience on our day trip from Como to St. Moritz, which included a ride on the iconic Bernina Express. From start to finish, the tour was well-organized and seamless. Our guide, Amato, was knowledgeable, engaging, and provided fascinating insights that enriched the entire journey. Our driver, Antonio, navigated the narrow mountain roads and sharp turns with remarkable skill, making us feel safe and comfortable throughout. The day began with a smaller shuttle from Como, which connected us with the larger group that departed from Milan. The transition was smooth and efficient. Riding the Bernina Express through the stunning alpine scenery was an unforgettable highlight — an incredible way to experience the natural beauty of the Alps. I highly recommend this tour for anyone staying in Como or Milan who wants a taste of the Alps in a single, unforgettable day!
I wish I could rate this experience in two different ways. The town of St Moritz and the scenery from the Bernina Express were both wonderful. The mountains were so majestic and the valleys gorgeous!!! However, I can not recommend this tour company. We and 2 other couples were met at the specified location by a non-English speaking bus driver (although the tour expressly says English tour) and it took a lot of translating with our phones and him making phone calls before we figured out we all belonged together. Then after an hour ride with him, we met up with a larger bus (that was pulling out and obviously going to leave our 3 couples) where there was an English speaking guide and many other English speaking tourists. After harsh words yelled between the drivers out the windows of the buses, we followed the larger bus to a gas station where they pulled over and we boarded that bus. It was NOT a good experience! We should have been told the situation by the tour company beforehand
