Be The Captain : Drive Your Own Boat On Lake Como

We had two separate boat trip bookings with this provider. Our original booking was for 2pm, but we were contacted by the provider and told that one of the boats was having problems and that they could move our trips earlier to 12pm. We explained that we had two separate bookings and that this would be very difficult for us, as our flight was due to land at around 10:30am that morning. We asked if 1pm would be possible instead, and they agreed. On the day, our flight was delayed and we were also held up at passport control. We contacted the provider to let them know what had happened and explained that we expected to arrive in time, but wanted to give them a heads-up in case we were a few minutes late due to circumstances outside our control. We received no response. We arrived at 12:55pm, five minutes before the agreed departure time, and couldn’t see anyone. We phoned the provider to ask where they were, only to be told that both of our boat trips had been cancelled. They offered to move us to the following morning, but we had a wedding to attend and explained that this wouldn’t work for us. We therefore requested a full refund. Unfortunately, the response we received was extremely rude. We were repeatedly told that we had cancelled the trips and therefore weren’t entitled to a refund, despite us explaining that we had never cancelled anything. We had simply contacted them in advance to explain that we might potentially be a few minutes late — and in reality, we arrived on time. After several days of contacting them, we eventually received a refund for one of the bookings. For the second booking, half of our party were able to take the trip the following day, but this was obviously not the experience we had originally booked or planned for. Overall, this was a very stressful and disappointing experience. The communication was extremely poor, and the attitude of the provider when we tried to resolve the situation was unacceptable. Unfortunately, based on our experience, we would not recommend this provider!

We had a great time. We did the 2 hrs trip, which allowed a loop from Laglio almost down to Como and back. Boat was great.

Great communication and punctuality. We were able to easy drive the boat and had great direction from our sweet contact Thomas. It was not clear to me that we were going to be charged for fuel, so something to keep in mind for future bookers. The water was very choppy, and the boat was small and not very fast, so splashing did occur. Overall we had a wonderful time and loved our experience!

We had so much fun!! The lady we met with when picking up and dropping off boat was Ava or Eva. She was so sweet and a breath of fresh air! She showed us very kindly how to operate the boat and this was the most fun we had on our whole trip! Worth every penny

This is a very safe and trusted way to enjoy a small boat trip on the lake. The instructions are given by the host right before the drive. The boat is clean and modern. We recommend it!

We rented a boat self drive around Lake Como. We were very disappointed by the service we received. The boat was 20 minutes late and did not know we were coming. The website also said that there were no hidden costs yet when we disembarked we were told we needed to pay 30 Euros for fuel. We only got 50mins on the boat despite paying over 100 Euros for an hour trip due to the service running late. To be honest I wouldn’t recommend. The actual boat was great and a fun experience. Just very disappointed with the service provided.

Wonderful opportunity to experience Lake Como on one’s own. We were met by Andrea who was lovely and explained everything to us. The boat was i. excellent condition and very easy to manage. We arrived a little late because it was hard to find parking and he very graciously extended the trip for us. Definitely worth doing, but if you arrive by car, give yourself extra time to park.

This was by far the favourite thing we did whilst on holiday. To go almost everywhere on the lake, you do need to pick the all day option. The only thing was that we should have had more instructions on how to dock.

Amazing! Heaven on earth! Learned how to drive the boat within minutes and we were off! Would recommend!

Hard to rate this one: The negatives Our boat was 35 minutes late. Communication was not great. The positives: Our contact/boat trainer, Ilgard, was great. He was patient and informative and checked on us as we went along The boat was clean and well maintained The weather was good and then rain came but it added to the memory of the adventure

Such a fun experience! We were late for our reservation because our ferry was cancelled and they accommodated us anyway. So fun! Boats are easy to drive and lake is beautiful! A must-do!!

Booked a slot for 4PM. Company contacts me and says there’s no availability so we will have to push back until 530PM. 45 minutes before our new time; they cancel. Their boat broke down. The person from the company i was then in contact with was quite rude and laughed when I inquired how long a review would take. Steer clear from the unprofessional company! No clue when i will get a refund as they have zero answers. Their reasoning. “boats break down when you use them”

Absolutely amazing! So fun to have free rein on the lake. A word of caution, if you are staying anywhere besides Como center or close to Como, (we stayed in Bellagio) it can be difficult getting to and from the pickup spot. Otherwise, 10/10 experience!

this is an absolute must do. My wife and I came here for a honeymoon and couldn’t decide which provider to use for this, and this was so easy and fun. We had an absolute blast. The boat is super easy to drive and the workers are super nice. Just do it. It’s so fun.

driving in Toscany and Umbria : To rent a car- look at auto Europe or any other large web-site, but ONLY rent directly from the car company that you like Directly. Best off to use Waze or Google, not car GPS. Road signs and rural roads are not well marked and always have a town name that you are driving towards. Italian drivers are much less aggressive than you have been told, unless you are driving in a big city

We did a 3 hour boat hire from Como and it was the highlight of the trip. So much fun and would highly recommend to everyone going to Como. Ilgar was very friendly and gave us a great little lesson before we were let loose. Would 100% do this again!

Fabulous service from start to finish. Had a slight delay to our start time but it was well communicated and we had our boat for the full 3 hours. Instructions were clear and we were given advice on how to best navigate the lake to visit the villas we wanted to see. 10/10

The boat was lovely, we were given clear instructions before we drove off - we really enjoyed it! Due to the weather, we had to make adjustments to our booking but the team communicated well and were reliable. If you have any questions at all, make sure to always ask. The boat itself was amazing, 10/10 experience - would 100% recommend. The only downfall was the location, not easy to get to the pick up point unless you’re happy with buses and steep walking.

Nagi was difficult to communicate with both before and during our reservation. They changed the duration of the trip twice. Horrible boat and very shady operators. Much better companies on the lake. Be very wary of booking with this company.

Great experience! It was raining and they allowed us to push off our boat tour until the rain stopped. Very helpful, showed us how to drive the boat and directed us to help park. Great service! We had a lot of fun.

Boat was clean, relatively new and easy to handle. Only has 40hp. The staff was great and location was easy to find.

So here are the things I will rate 5 stars for.. The boat.. It was new.. clean and luxurious.. Communication from booking to actual rental.. you were responsive and accommodating... The experience itself was really amazing.. highlight of our trip.. The 4 hours just flew by.. Thank you.. And to prospective tourists.. must do part of trip to Como... And if you are hiring Nagi team is highly recommended.. book in advance..

Driving the boat across Lake Como was one of the highlights of our trip! It was incredibly romantic for my fiancé and I. We arranged a meeting point with Ilgar and had a brief demonstration with him. He was fantastic, very responsive to any questions!

Amazing trip! Definitely the best way to experience Lake Como! The communication was excellent from Nagi and the boat was clean and ready for us when we arrived. Ilgar was great and showed us how to use the boat and recommended a couple of destinations to visit, 10/10 couldn’t recommend more👌🏼

The boat rental company would have been a five had they given us a functioning boat. The engine to our boat was 40 HP, the boat did an average 8 to 10 knots, very slow. Sometimes it max at 15 but not long. It never planed. The person providing the boat to us told us it was not working right, but they still rented it to us. They should have forewarned us early so we can make a decision to either cancel or reschedule. To top that off, they gave us a map that was wet and not readable. The guy said it got wet the day before. Well, why not print another one before? Towards the end, he asked us for 20 Euros for gas. Said he was giving us a break due to boat issues. Give me a break it should have been zero for gas with a malfunctioning engine. Make sure you confirm you are getting a boat that works. 40HP should not be that slow. I know boats and have a 15 foot Boston whaler with 50 HP and it’s not that slow. Ps. We were only two people.

We booked the 3 hour self-drive boating experience and it was a highlight of our trip. Firstly Federica and Andrea were so accommodating when our flight was cancelled and we had to change dates last minute. When we received the boat it was clean and modern. We were given a quick lesson around the harbour and sent on our way to explore wherever we could on the Lake. We stopped to swim, ate on the boat and had music to enjoy. A great day, would probably book 5 hour slot next time as there is so much to see time just flies

We had a fantastic experience on our 3 hour self-driving tour. The meet-up with Andrea at Como was simple, straightforward, and speedy. We had a 6 people (4 adults, 2 kids aged 6 & 9) and the boat fit us comfortably; the lake is expansive and there was no concern of seasickness. Highly recommend seeing Lago di Como from the water - WOW! One recommendation: Make sure to communicate clearly the pick-up time well in advance. We had a small mix-up and Andrea was able to accommodate, so thank you!!

This was the highlight of Como for us. The boat trip was amazing, really nice staff and it’s so freeing once you’re out on your own. We did 3hrs, enough time to get to Bellagio and back and stop for a bit of lunch. 10/10

It was so fun! Boat was clean and easy to navigate. Perfect putting on the lake, just wish we booked it longer than 3 hrs to be able to see a lot of the lake.

It was a beautiful experience..the weather wasn't good unfortunately, but we still had a great time driving around. It was easy to master the control too.

Stay well clear Be aware of this place their address on google maps and on their website is wrong Called them 5 times for them to only respond 20 minutes from the appointment with the real address When I explained that was unrealistic timing for me to make it there They gave me nothing but attitude Look at the screenshot below which clearly states their address and they still told me I was in the wrong

Far cheaper to hire a private boat than a tour which limits your freedom to explore parts of the lake you wish to go to. It made our stay at Lake Como exceptional, you want to go to thet part of the lake? Sure. Want to "park up" and start swimming? Sure. Amazing. Things to note: - Go for at least 3 hours, you will start to feel at ease taking in the sights around about 1 hour, the last thing you would want to do at this point is go back on land! - Communication regarding the time slot for the boat could be much better. There is no slot you choose on the website but this must be organised via direct messages on the site/email, the responses took 1-2 days to get back to me which was not helpful but this was booked within a week. - Using the boat is very easy but the instructions were rather lax/limited. For example, a warning light came up on the dashboard saying "engine tilt" which. means the propeller is too high/low from my very limited understanding. You have to raise/lower it to a certain position to fix this, this was not explained in enough detail instead "do not press this" was said, a demonsration was done and the propeller was left in the wrong position.

We used Nagi boat hire for an 3 hour booking, and it was the best experience of the entire holiday. We were swaying between a 3 hour booking and 5 hours, and wish we had gone for the 5 hours. It was absolute bliss. The staff were very helpful and responded very quickly to any question we had in advance of the hire. On the day it was so easy to meet the boat, and great recommendations were made for where on the lake we could go. It was so much fun, and would recommend this company and experience to anyone wanting to see and enjoy the best of Lake Como. We will definitely be back again!
