Beautiful property, but the service did not match its reputation Villa d’Este is undeniably beautiful. The historic architecture, gardens, lake views, and atmosphere are truly special, and our room was comfortable and well maintained. Unfortunately, the overall service was far below what we expected from a hotel of this reputation and price level. Before arrival, several emails regarding payment, transportation, a private boat, and luggage transfer went unanswered. We eventually had to make an international phone call before receiving a proper response. During our stay, many members of the Concierge Team appeared passive and reluctant when we requested assistance. Rather than first exploring possible solutions, the initial response often focused on why something might be difficult. At a luxury hotel, guests should feel comfortable asking for help and confident that the team will make a genuine effort to assist. A misunderstanding involving our private boat reservation was made more upsetting by the initially defensive response from some employees. Fortunately, the hotel later arranged an alternative boat, and we were able to enjoy a beautiful afternoon on Lake Como. There were also several exceptional employees who deserve recognition. Federico was proactive and dependable in arranging our pre-arrival requests. Francesca listened with empathy after the boat incident. The female employee who assisted us at check-in was warm and professional, and the male restaurant employee with glasses who looked after us throughout our stay was exceptionally kind. Manuel Tempesta also responded personally to our restaurant feedback, after which the service noticeably improved. Villa d’Este has extraordinary heritage and an unforgettable setting. However, true luxury depends not only on the property itself, but also on consistent, warm, and solution-oriented hospitality. I sincerely hope the service will become as exceptional as the hotel’s history and surroundings.

The most amazing stay at Villa d’Este! The hotel is breathtaking but the exceptional staff made it even more special. Carlos made our arrival effortless by taking great care of our luggage, and Cristiano at reception was absolutely phenomenal so kind, welcoming, and attentive. 5-Star Review: Villa d’Este, Lake Como – Absolutely Exquisite! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Just returned from an unforgettable stay at Villa d’Este on Lake Como with my wife Paige, and it was pure magic. This historic property is stunning from every angle – the breathtaking lake views, the elegant veranda perfect for sunset drinks and dinner, the iconic floating pool, and the overall beauty that makes you feel like you’re living in a dream. Our room was incredibly spacious and beautifully appointed, with a bed so comfortable we didn’t want to leave it in the mornings. The service throughout was outstanding – every member of the staff was warm, professional, and genuinely accommodating. It made our entire experience seamless and special. The only minor downside was the surprisingly small shower, but that was easily overlooked given everything else. After our previous stay at the Grand Hotel Tremezzo (where the service was very poor), Villa d’Este was a breath of fresh air. We highly recommend it – it’s worth every bit of its reputation as one of the finest hotels on the lake. If you’re planning a trip to Lake Como, book this one. The most incredible experience I have had at a hotel. Beautiful setting. Delicious food. Impeccable service. Sitting on the terrace overlooking the lake sipping on a Negroni, having coffee and breakfast in their garden room, or swimming at the outdoor floating pool and jumping into the lake. Just roaming the grounds of gardens. It is absolutely stunning. I want to come back here again and again!
