Hotel Santa Maria Briones is a charming boutique property in the heart of Briones—the perfect base to settle into after a day exploring the wineries of La Rioja. The hotel has been lovingly restored to preserve its historic character while fully modernizing for comfortable travel. The local staff are exceptionally welcoming, deeply knowledgeable, and eager to share insider recommendations so you can experience La Rioja like a local. We stayed in a Junior Suite, which seamlessly blended historic charm with high-end modern fixtures. The bathroom was notably spacious, featuring a beautiful soaking tub and excellent water pressure. Dining on-site at Allegra was a highlight. Because navigating narrow, winding regional roads can be tricky at night, staying on property for dinner was so convenient—and delicious! A quick heads-up on noise: The nearby church bells chime every 15 minutes, including throughout the night. Earplugs helped us drown it out, but if you are a light sleeper, be sure to request a room on the side away from the church!

Their black car service perfectly complements the luxurious, intimate atmosphere of Santa María Briones. We also booked their chauffeur service for our daily wine tastings around La Rioja Alta. Ignacio was an outstanding host—punctual, polite, and completely discreet. Gliding through the vineyards in their immaculate Mercedes was the ultimate comfort. Highly recommended for any guest looking for a premium experience!

We stayed 4 nights in this beautiful hotel. There are a lot of small details we appreciated about our room and service. It’s always spotless! Everyday we also enjoyed breakfast buffet :) We dined in the restaurant twice for dinner, one for à la carte and one for long journey tasting menu, we enjoyed both experiences. The staff also were helpful and kind. There is a gym, a bar area, and a terrace on the 2nd floor (perfect for sunset). It is a good base for visiting the wineries in the region, everywhere we went was under 20/25 mins ride.

This was amazing stay from start to finish. Hotel was modern, well built with all the amenities of a world class hotel. Service was exceptional from check in thru the moment we left when the cleaning crew came running to get us when our children left a stuffed animal. Culinary ambrosia at every meal, I hope others enjoy this special location in Briones. Highest recommendation I can give!
