The building is espectacular if needing a bit of renovation. The location in the middle of Rioja is ideal for touring the region and its wineries. The staff, particularly the breakfast team, was very professional and courteous. Unfortunately, someone named Almudena at the reception was the total opposite. Truly out of sync with everyone else working for the parador.
We spent 2 nights in a superior room, as part of a visit to Rioja. The hotel is situated in the centre of the old town, next to the cathedral, and accessible by car, if you follow the hotel’s instructions. The hotel has external closed parking about 40m from the hotel, and an underground garage, both of which are payable. Our room was large, and comfortable, overlooking an enclosed area, so very quiet. We slept well. Breakfast was by sitting, but not particularly enforced, and was the usual high Parador standard, as was the dinner we had one of the nights during our stay. Service generally was excellent, the staff friendly, helpful and available, both in the hotel and restaurant. In summary, an excellent stay, well up to the high Parador standards.
Lovely hotel in a beautiful historic building. Staff are very friendly and helpful with every aspect of the stay including suggestions for visits here and elsewhere. Excellent breakfast too!
The historical features of the Parador are most impressive. Located in the very heart of the town, right next to the church. Free parking can be found in easy walking distance. Dinner at the hotel was tasty, staff friendly and helpful.
Nice looking rooms but noisy - the automatic sliding doors underneath us at reception woke me up multiple times during the night, so ask for a room away from that! The room service was very welcome after a long day on the camino. The bar and restaurant were excellent and very reasonable, with excellent service. The location could not be better.
