Itinerary
From the second pick-up point to the store it is a 30-minute trip. Here you can see how we begin to leave the city crossing part of the highway.
This is your chance to get last minute essentials, whether it be water, cookies, etc. for walking.
From the store to our first stop we have approximately 30 minutes, a stop to give some explanations and photographs at the "Jilarata" viewpoint. This place offers us a panoramic view of two main mountains in the region: Huayna Potosí and Chacaltaya. For that we stay here for 20 minutes maximum.
After approximately 30 minutes of travel, we continue with the second point: The Milluni Cemetery. we get brief historical information about the reason and origin of the cemetery. Then, we will have time for more photos from this very close point of the Huayna Potosí mountain.
After 30 minutes of travel we arrived at the Charquini Base Camp, where we began an exciting walk through a paradise for nature lovers, and after walking for an hour or an hour and a half we arrived at the Charquini lagoon. You've earned this break! Relax for about an hour by the lagoon, take Instagram-worthy photos, or just breathe in the fresh air. Then we will walk back to base camp for approximately 40 minutes descending, and each step will reflect the satisfactory culmination of an adventure well lived
All ready again at base camp, we embarked for the return to La Paz. After an hour and a half of travel we arrive at the central part of La Paz and we will ensure that you return safely to your central hotels, while we say goodbye to you, until your next adventure arrives.

We loved the tour. Our guide Johanna was amazing. So much knowledge and stories during the whole tour. The whole journey was fun not just the lake. Great driver too.
Giovana was an exceptional guide. Even before the tour began, she showed a genuine willingness to help by coming directly to our location. The itinerary was well-structured, and we appreciated being able to hike at our own pace. The lake was absolutely worth the effort!
We did the Charquini Lagoon tour and it was absolutely incredible!! Our guide Gio was so kind, encouraging and enthusiastic and spoke brilliant English and Spanish to explain everything in great detail. The trek is ever so slightly challenging due to the altitude but Gio was extremely patient and made sure everyone in the group was seen and safe! The view of the lagoon is just mind blowing, we were unsure if we were going to book this tour originally but are so so glad we did! A great day!
This was a great full day activity that shows views starting with the drive up to the hike. Our tour guide was friendly and professional, very patient with hikers of all places and knew lots about the history of the area. The hike is not steep but the altitude definitely is tough on travelers but this is very doable!
100% recommended. Patti was absolutely amazing (knowledgeable, patient and caring). If you can survive high altitude this is a must tour. Views are breathtaking! Thank you Monkey Travel Bolivia!
Great tour and Gio was an amazing bilingual guide. The hike was pretty short (about 1:15h with lots of breaks and at a very slow pace) but still a bit exhausting at this altitude. However Gio made sure everyone was feeling ok throughout the way up and the driver also provided some walking sticks.
What an incredible experience. Tough climb for someone like me but our guide was so encouraging and supportive, without her I would not have made it. I would recommend this company to everyone.
had a great time, and our Guide, well it was e she, I unfortunately forgott her Name but she was super nice.
Fantastic experience. Even though my wife had altitude issues and both me and her left half way, my daughter did the hike with small group. Awesome guide (Gio?) . Her English was very good and she explained everything in detail. She was patient and respectful to all. Wife and daughter are vegans and they tried to provide vegan sandwich.
Although we started out the day with some confusion about the booking, the company handled everything with such professionalism and grace. We had an excellent tour. Our tour guide was fantastic! We had a lot of fun together and he took great pictures of us. I highly recommend this tour company and doing this hike if you are coming to La Paz!
My experience was incredible, the most beautiful place I have ever seen. Giovana is very helpful, willing to help and make sure everyone has a wonderful experience. Safe outing, Giovana had oxygen in case someone was feeling unwell, she provided support for those with more difficulty. The tour offers a snack!
Beautiful place, it is a simple path up, but in the Brazilians that we are at sea level , we have a little bad time, take a remedy for nausea, drink a lot of water and do not make a lot of effort, a tip not to take a boosted coffee , because it can return to the track kkk
A unique experience, the emerald color of the lagoon is beautiful, the day I went down, snow and thunder fell that gave a different and beautiful magic to the landscape
It was great, our guide was super nice and gave very good explanations:)
An unforgettable experience. It's worth doing. Ivonne and the driver a 10. They are very kind.❤️ I recommend three days in Peace to adjust
Punctual, they come to pick you up from the hotel with a bus and Pati is there to welcome you right away. A unique person! In addition to being nice and knowing great English, she tells you what you will do during the day and gives you great tips about La Paz, Bolivia and any information you want to know. The trip is very nice .. there are a couple of stops for spectacular photos and then there is the walk that is just under 2km with very little difference in altitude but really worth it! 5000m is not every day.. Pati leads you calmly, at your own pace, takes all the photos you want and also delivers you a mini lunch consisting of juice sandwich and biscuit Super recommended!
The guide Gio was the best, helped me climb the snowy step by step and encouraged me to continue the journey, took beautiful photos of us all and also has a nice energy to share with the whole group. The tour was perfect!
The Giovana guide gave us an excellent tour, telling us the history of Peru when we passed by historical sites as well as explanations about the native roots of many words and places, as well as taking incredible photos and giving us useful tips in the ascent to make it more bearable. Recommended!
