Punctual and informative! What I liked most about the tour was the cultural knowledge shared, our stops were all mostly in the shade (good for getting a break from the intense sun), it was fun to see our tour guide Max run into other locals he knows, and the route. We stayed Central and was easy to walk anywhere after the tour. Max's English is excellent and easy to understand, which was special bonus given many of my English tours through South America were challenging to understand. Well worth the money!

Great experience, Max was very knowledgable and entertaining.
Matteo was very good, with good knowledge about the city and was able to answer questions.
Great walking tour, Max was a fantastic guide!
I had a great tour with Ramberto! He was super friendly and knowledgeable about the city, and I learned a lot about La Paz and Bolivia. It was a great way to get acquainted with La Paz, and I highly recommend this tour!
Awesome tour. Best walking tour, cheap and you see almost everything in the city. Including info, that you would otherwise not get. The guide Max was really the best! The passion with which he is telling us all the stories and everything. Just amazing!!
Had an amazing experience with Red Cap in La Paz! Their guide Max did the tour for me - even though I was the only one there that day - and it was among the best city tours I’ve ever been to. You get to walk through the streets of La Paz with someone who really knows them and their history - wonderful! My favorite part was the stories about the San Pedro prison! Thanks Max!
Highly recommend! I’ve been on about 50 free walking tours around the world, and this was among the best. Their insights and storytelling made me love Bolivia and want to learn more and more. Thanks Max for being an amazing guide!
Our guide Max is from El Alto so he knows about the city first hand. We learned a lot of the city’s history, culture, urban myth even political landscape. It was very informative. He was also very helpful, suggested local restaurants and even provided his contact for follow up questions.
guide was walking too fast have a lot of knowledge
The tour was fascinating and an amazing value for money. Our guide Max was exceptional and he made every minute of it strongly engaging, providing us with detailed explanations and having patience for us to ask as many questions as we want. Very strongly recommend.
Max was our tour guide and he made it the best walking tour I’ve ever been on. It was super engaging the entire time and everything Max talked about was very interesting. I learnt so much about the history and current situation of La Paz and Bolivia from this tour. Highly recommend!
We had like a private tour since only the three of us were waiting for the tour that day. Max was an excellent guide throughout the visit, which lasted some 3 hours. Although he gave us very detailed informations at all 5 sites (as announced), he answered all of our numerous questions with much knowledge and local experience. We highly recommend this tour for starting your stay in La Paz, such an amazing city you want to explore more thanks to the guide.
Great tour with Max. Super interesting to understand more of La Paz - both historic and contemporary. Also a great route to help you orientate in the city - the tour is a good day one option (the route is not too arduous if you’re still coming to terms with the altitude). Max was an excellent guide and I strongly going a tour with him if you have the chance.
Very interesting Walk in La Paz with lokal stories about the City. 2.5 hours around the center of La Paz to visit lokal market, interesting streets and special the story about the prison in the middle of La Paz.
We took a walking tour with Max around the centre of La Paz. He taught us everything about the food, culture and history of the city and we learnt so many local secrets that we couldn’t have known otherwise! He’s a kind, funny and energetic host and we definitely recommend!
Had a great time doing the Red Cap Walking Tours! Learned a lot about the local culture, just as a good walking tour should be!
City tours are good to get a glimpse of the character of the city and its residents , wherever I go , I have always spent time wandering around the city , an activity I enjoy . La Paz is an old city with some unique features , the main thing is the high altitude and the many steep and narrow streets . The altitude certainly needs some getting used to and also the up and down steep roads might be taxing too . It is almost like going on a trekking trip in a city instead of on a mountain
I learned so much about the culture and history of this absolutely beautiful country. My tour guide, Max Jiménez was fenomenal. Very knowledgeable and proud of his heritage and his country. I recommend him 100%!
Really interesting walking tour. Our guide Max knew a lot about the prison, culture and other things about the city! He was a very enthausiastic and nice guide!
Had a wonderful tour with Max who was entertaining and thorough. Covered the main sites but plenty of time to discuss controversial issues (like wars with neighbours, and civil conflicts) So good it over-run. It made our trip to La Paz
We had Rem as our guide, from Red Cap tours. His English was excellent and he knew a lot about La Paz. The tour was very good, and I would highly recommend it.
The guide was very chatty and funny. The tour included major landmarks
A must do. I learned so much of this unique city and culture.
one of the best walking tours i’ve ever been on! max was our guide and was a fantastic story teller and so knowledgeable about the history and culture of bolivia. we had a great time and learned so much!
My friend and I went on 3 tours with Red Cap. Rem was our guide for the City Walking tour. Would highly recommend any tour by Red Cap! The tour guides are knowledgeable and create an enjoyable experience.
Fantastic tour today with Denise! She is smart, knowledgeable, funny, and took us to many interesting places in central La Paz. A great, insightful introduction to this beautiful and fascinating city.
Remberto was my tour guide and kindly delivered the tour to myself and just one other person! It was incredibly informative and entertaining with lots of engaging stories about recent history and local traditions and culture. Definitely one of the best city walking tours I’ve been on!
Had a great tour with Rem. He showed us through the main sites in the city and taught us a lot about La Paz’s history, local culture and fun facts that made me understand a whole lot more in depth than exploring on my own. Rem’s English is perfect and very impressive. Highly recommend!
We enjoyed the walking tour very much. Our tour guide, Denise, provided a great mix of information on history, culture, and politics. We learned a lot about La Paz and Bolivia.
Absolutely superb tour of the city centre. Our guide Denise was incredibly informative and achieved a great balance between cultural, historical and the occasion urban legend. In all honesty this was probably one of the best - if not THE best - tour I’ve ever done. It was totally fascinating and Denise was super engaging from start to finish.
I did the Red Cap City Walking Tour through La Paz on a Wednesday afternoon at 2pm in November and our host was Denise. She was truly fantastic, such an incredible storyteller! She had some wild stories about the San Pedro prison, the Witches Market and the Government Palace. Denise really knew how to banter and make the group laugh. Very grateful for her leading our walking tour!
My cousin and I did the walking tour through La Paz. We only had a few days in La Paz and this walking tour fit our schedule perfectly. We got to learn quite a bit about Bolivia in a short time. Mateo was our guide and he was great! Not only did he take us around to the sights, he also shared soooo much about history and culture of Bolivia. HIGHLY recommend this walking tour!
We really enjoyed the tour, not least because of Denise who was a really fantastic guide! It was very well-bakanced, covering the right mix of history, current/societal affairs and folklore. It also felt like a good amount of walking - not too much, not too little and thankfully mostly flat! Denise was knowledgeable, fun and approachable. By far the best guide we've had on our trip of South America so far. Definitely recommend!
A very enjoyable tour around La Paz, with lots of insights and curious stories on Bolivian culture and heritage. Our guide was Mateo, who was charming and knowledgeable. Highly recommended!
The most amazing tour one can ask for, ESPECIALLY considering the price. I was traveling with my younger sister and we are broke students but the guide Denise was so wonderful we decided the tip was worth being taken out of the budget. Can’t recommend enough.
Had a great day with Remberto on the La Paz walking tour. We saw lots of interesting sights and Remberto made for an interesting, funny, and knowledgeable guide. We learned a lot about the city and Bolivian politics more generally, and also got some great recommendations!
I really enjoyed this walking tour with Denise. Often I forget a lot of the information told on walking tours but this was super interesting and therefore I was able to retain lots of it - from information about the prison, to Cholitas, to the Witches market and today’s politics etc. Thanks for a great tour!
A really excellent tour of La Paz; I highly recommend taking it on your first day in town to get a lay of the land and recommendations from the guide. Who was fantastic! She gave an amazing overview of history, culture, politics, everything :)
Really great tour! Such a great way to learn about the city and it’s people. Our guide Rem was really good and informative and we felt we learned so much. Rem’s good sense of humour was a cherry on top!
We went on the 2hr to 3hr walking tour with Denise. The area covered was good, flat, easy walking lots to see. Denise explained history, clothing and rituals, very informative, good story telling and humour top. Would highly recommend.
Denise, our 'red cap' was an excellent tour guide. She was very upbeat, smiley and full of information. Her English was very good and there were no issues understanding her.
A very insightful and interesting experience covering topics like culture, history and politics. Rem was great to tell interesting stories and answer questions. I was also pleased to hear that he was comfortable talking politics to foreigners in public places.
Tour was great. Denice told us and explained us many interesting things for the city of La Paz. She was funny and very informative. Totally recommended.
We did the city walking tour with Denice. It was a wonderful experience, and even after spending two months in Bolivia, we still learned so much about the culture. Denise, our guide, was fantastic. She spoke about La Paz and Bolivia with so much love and passion. We would recommend Denice and Red Cap Tours to everyone!
Great walking tour with Denise. She was fun, interesting and had a wealth of knowledge not only of La Paz city but also the history and current affairs of Bolivia. We learnt a lot and enjoyed the walk through streets, markets and the history of La Paz. Highly recommend taking the tour. It was a great way to orientate through the city as well.
Absolutely amazing! Just go! Perfect guide, great selection of places, insights and tips about the city and country, you have it all!
Great guided tour with Denise! She made the whole experience absolutely worthwhile. Great insights into history and culture and some fun facts! Def recommend!
We did the Red Cap city walking tour with Remi and we thought it was one of the best walking tours we’ve done in all of our South American travels. Remi makes the tour engaging and interesting , and we learnt a lot of facts about La Paz culture
