It took over 2 hours to get to the venue because we made several long stops to wait for people and the guide didn’t tell us why we were waiting. We took the cable car and bus to the venue and then a bus back to the city centre. The logistics felt a little chaotic. The wrestling was very amateurish but good fun. I would recommend trying the official events on Thursdays and Sundays at the Cholet arena rather than the other weekday events which take place at Casa de la Cholita which is their training facility.

They pick you up and we had to pick up others from various locations making your 30 miniute ride over an hour. It was fun but we left early because it was. Old and snack options and drinks ran out before it even started.
I'd rate this a "must-do" event if you're visiting La Paz. The wrestlers put on an incredible show, and it's certainly a high adrenaline, entertaining night. The women give it their all, and it really is something to see! The bus there and back is well organized, plus you get to see awesome views as you ascend up to El Alto. Your ticket includes the show, popcorn and a drink, a small souvenir, and two bathroom passes, and all for a super reasonable price (I paid only $8). There's also Cholitas wrestling right in La Paz that you can walk over to, so it doesn't take as long. It's at the Mamani Gallery, and I'd recommend both. But do Mamani first, as it's only about 50 people, while the El Alto show is around a thousand people and has a bigger vibe.
Unfortunately I cannot review the actual performance because the tour company never picked us up to take us there. Understand that when you book this, you are just buying a ticket - you still have to organize pick up and transport to the performance with the tour company (Mapamundi Go). We booked for March 22nd, but were told after booking that day was unavailable due to elections in Bolivia. We agreed to switch to March 21. We arrived at the meeting location early (they provided a Google maps link and photo, so we're 100% sure we were at the right place). We called and texted the tour company multiple times and ended up leaving after 45 min. of waiting. They eventually apologized but still have not issued a refund.
Organized and worthwhile tour booking. Was picked up by Carlos at the designated spot and got on the bus that picked up more passengers at another hostel. Bus was comfortable. My group made it early to the event and had our free pickings of seat (VIP seats = ringside, where the cholitas frequently interact with the crowd). Very entertaining show.
Absolutely awful, the worst tour I have ever attended. Organisation dreadful - it took 2.5 hours from being collected until the show started. When it started we left after 10 minutes.
This is weird and wild. Expect camp, silly, amateurish wrestling but it’s lots of fun. It’s set up in a basketball court so feels makeshift but is something different for sure.
Great experience. The event is somewhat silly but it’s truly a good laugh. Something we can all use.
Theater and athleticism meet in this funny, enjoyable activity. You get free popcorn and lots of laughs.
We were picked up from our hotel. 30min drive in an old bus (fun!). We got our entry tickets which included a present, popcorn and Soda. As for the Cholita Wrestling it well passed my expectations. Funny and engaging with heaps of action in the ring and amoung the crowd also. Great fun!
I enjoyed the experience overall and it is worth seeing, but it wasn't organised very well, and is a tourist trap in many ways. Firstly the trip over to the venue is in hoards of overcrowded buses, not a nice experience. Then on arrival you're shown your "vip" seats, which are plastic chairs squished together, in a very cold stadium. The drinks, snacks and souvenirs are very overpriced. The show itself was good. We had 2x male wrestling shows, before the cholita's came out. They were great! The energy and atmosphere they created was fun and entertaining. But prepared to be pulled up to dance, jumped upon, and water sprayed if you're in the front row. One really annoying thing was, before the show ended, the tour guides rushed us all out, to get back to the buses! I couldn't understand why. Didn't even get a chance to take a pic with the cholita's at the end! If I were to see them again, I would research a better option. Maybe the show at the Mamani Mamani Gallery.
Really enjoyed the night, the bus was on time and everything was organized. You receive a soda, popcorn and choice of souvenir. The show was very entertaining, wear warm clothes! It is all concrete and you sit on plastic chairs so it does get a bit chilly. Opportunity to take photos with the Cholitas after the show. Would recommend!
The experience was a fun night. The event included a bag of popcorn and a soda and free entry into the restrooms. Where there could be improvement. We met and the pickup location on time with 14 others. The bus was on time however because 2 people were not on time we waited on the hot bus for 25 minutes only to have the 2 not show for the event. I understand waiting 10 or maybe 15 minutes but it was not fair to the others who were on time. Other than the pickup delay this event goes as advertised.
The Cholitas Wrestling is a must see when you are in Bolivia. We were not picked up in our Hotel, we had to walk to another hotel to be picked up because it was outside of the pick up area. Your ticket to the Cholitas wrestling includes: roundtrip transportation, entry to the venue, 2 bathroom tickets, popcorn and Bolivian soda, and one souvenir (bookmark, sticker, or postcard). Be sure to bring a good jacket, gloves and closed toe shoes. The show is in El Alto and it gets extremely cold there at night. Also keep in mind that the show is for 2 hours (~5 pm to 7 pm) roughly and then your transportation back to the hotel will be outside the venue. Overall, it was a fun and hilarious night.
Very fun and entertaining, with lots of drama. Overall, I highly recommend it. Just wear warm clothes the venue gets cold.
Such a fun night! The tour was very smooth and guide was professional. Very entertaining night watching the cholitas.
I cancelled before their 24-hour cancellation policy and NEVER received my refund!!! I contacted multiple times for months and no one has gotten back to me!
Brilliant! WWE it is not, but entertaining it really is! If you like your wrestling, this is a definite for you all. Really good laugh
A very entertaining event! The cholitas were the best part, the men were annoying though and the crowd wasn’t feeling them. We got popcorn, soda, and a souvenir with the tour. I just wish the guides had given us some background information or history on the event, maybe on the bus ride there.
It is best to get their early to choose your seats which is what we did with a nice ride on a tourist bus there and back. The whole show was entertaining and took me back to my childhood watching the lucha libre matches in mexico!!!
Went with Hanaqpacha group tours. Loved the city tour with this company but the Cholita Wrestling was awful. I had the impression that there would be Bolivians in the audience but all I could see were tourists.
Very interesting fight. I really loved their work and really felt good in their company . I am very thankful for such honest and great service
This was so much fun! Excellent value and included a drink, popcorn and souvenir (keyring). It was so funny and joyful and the wrestlers were very talented. A highly recommended activity.
The Cholita’s wrestling was hilarious and their surprise moves were great. Getting the crowd involved was so funny. Overall great value for money with transport to and from a nearby meeting point, snacks, bathroom passes and souvenirs. Would definitely recommend to anyone considering this!
Such a hilarious evenings entertainment! Have now seen both Mens and Womens wrestling! South and Central Americans really know how to put on a show!
This is a must! Have some fun watching the men wrestlers warm up for the main act, The Cholitas! It has everything you come to love about wrestling. The ham and hero, the dirty ref and getting the crowd to interact with the event. The cholitas display an athleticism that rivals Olympic athletes but its being done in big dresses and flat shoes. Have a few drinks before and during and enjoy your night with the Wide World of Cholitas wrestling!
Easy pick up from a local hotel. The van was crowded, but fun. The experience was exactly as advertised with wrestlers of varying skill levels going at it for a couple of hours. Reminiscent of early 1980s WWF theatrics. The crowd was a nice mix of locals and tourists. The women were great to pose for pictures afterward.
The show was awesome, everyone should check it out! However, they should find another way to and from the show. The bus was full of about 40 or 50 other people and literally none of them were wearing masks. That's just not acceptable. Riding a bus to this event should not be a super spreader activity. It was so bad that my friends and I ubered home at our own cost.
Had a great time at the show. The wrestlers and the crowd made it a very interactive experience. Guide was great, very informative.
I had really a good time there!People are nice it s fun and well organized.Of course it s theatral but i loved see empowered women, and actually wrestling with fluffy skirts it s weirdly impressive! And when you know that they created an association to protect women from domestic abuses...just go!
Wrestling lovers: this is a MUST! Not wrestling lovers: this is a MUST as well :D So much fun!!! Amazing experience
As a one-time cultural experience. Violence, even if it is a show, is not my thing
Fun and original show . At first you are surprised because it starts with men which was not indicated, but the stars are of course the cholitas who arrive as "guest stars" afterwards A bit of a mess to find the bus at the end
It didn't take place at all, or it was supposed to take place, but we were never contacted by the organizer about the meeting point, and we could not reach the organizer either.
Cholitas that really envy their counterparts in El Alto! Super family atmosphere, you will not be more than a dozen. Immersive too, with a real involvement of the public for the shot. A show of a good hour and a half, and you'll leave with a souvenir. A snack is also included.
Excellent tour, good show, entertaining. Go warm for the return because in the city of El Alto begins a freezing wind at night
All very well, the activity itself very good, very friendly and knowledgeable guides. We were surprised by the experience of going by cable car on the outbound route. But overall very well.
It has been a pleasant experience, it could get better because it really is fun. The improvement would be in relation to the use of lights, better sound equipment and a more ambience accorded to the cholitas. I went to the coliseum show in El Alto on a Sunday.
Personally we did not enjoy this show at all It drags on, the first part of the show that lasts almost half the duration of the show... Fights mounted from scratch with the same scenarios with each new fight Really a waste of time The only positive point the organization
I spoke to the tour company (Mapa Mundi Go) just a few hours before the tour was set to begin to confirm my pick-up location and time. I was 10 minutes early at the exact pick-up location. I waited for one hour and 10 minutes, and nobody came to pick me up. I messaged and called the phone number I used to confirm my booking, and nobody picked up or messaged me back. I must have called them over 10 times. I also called Aviator, and they called Mapa Mundi, and they didn't answer the phone for them either. I messaged Mapa Mundi and told them I waited for over an hour, and sent them a picture of me at the pick-up location as proof. Later that night, after having missed the whole event, they messaged me and told me that a bus did come and I wasn't there, which was a lie. No bus ever stopped, no bus asked for me or said that they were picking up people to go to this event. I even asked buses that came through if they were picking someone up, and nobody came for me. They left me alone in an unsafe area and didn't even bother answering the phone when I was left with no pickup, and then they lied later, saying that I wasn't there, even though I sent them a picture as proof. Worst experience that I had in La Paz, do not book this tour.
Pure trash. It's all fake, that is, the fights are tested and have no grace at all. Total time loss. Reminds me of the extinct show of the '70s, "Ring Giants," but even worse. It becomes embarrassing (strange shame). I recommend it to my enemies.
