We had an amazing trip with Charlie. So much was included in the price and we got to tick off a number of things that we wanted to do. Great time. Thanks Charlie.

Located in La Paz’s Casco Viejo, or old town, is a lively plaza framed by some of the city’s most important political buildings.
Conveniently located in the center of La Paz is one of the city’s largest and most uniquely-designed food markets.
One of La Paz’s most important and historical landmarks is the San Francisco church (Iglesia de San Francisco), also known as the San Francisco Basilica (Basílica de San Francisco).
“Do you have any dried llama fetuses?” “How about a spell to punish a cheating lover?” “Perhaps a little something to help altitude sickness then?” For those suffering an ailment, searching for wealth or looking to exact revenge on a cheating partner, La Paz’s Witches Market (Mercado de Hechecería or Mercado de las Brujas), is the place to go for a variety of potions, medicinal plants, spells and spiritual advice.
Located only meters away from the tranquil Plaza San Pedro, lies one of the word’s most notorious and corrupt institutions, San Pedro Prison. What makes San Pedro so interesting are the conditions in which around 1500 of Bolivia’s most hardened criminals live. A society within itself, the prison contains shops and restaurants run by inmates, women and children living voluntarily with imprisoned family members and ironically, some of the country’s busiest cocaine laboratories.
The manicured gardens the statues, the park benches that line the Midway between the vehicle traffic going and coming from downtown was pretty cool. El Prado is also surrounded by huge office buildings housing many restaurants.
Avenida Camacho: One of the most important and traditional avenues of the City of La Paz, is located in the city center. Its route begins at the Obelisk Square and ends at the former Municipal Zoo, also known as Monkey Park. This avenue was named in homage to the former President of the Republic, Eliodoro Camacho.

We had a great time with Charlie. We were the only two on the tour, it was an interesting and fun way to see the city and learn about the culture and the history of La Paz, El Alto and Bolivia. Really gave some context for the rest of our time here. For only 150BOB (~11€) pp and that included cable cars, tickets for the wrestling and a ride home afterwards. Would recommend.
Daira was a great guide, she had so much information, happy to answer any questions, and the whole tour felt relaxed and was very interesting. I would reccomend :)
Great tour and experience would recommend!!
Charlie was great! He explained everything well including the local customs, cholitas, and the crazy prison system! He provided lots of tips on purchasing food. He also recommended a great vegan restaurant.
We had a great experience on the walking tour. Charlie was great at showing us around the city and giving us insight into La Paz’s history.
Great tour with very well planed organization and schedule and Carlos is an exceptional guide very knowledgeable and always eager to meet Al our needs!
Excellent experience with a very professional guide Eloy! I absolutely recommend 👌!
Charlie gets an honourable mention as he was a great guide during the walking tour. We had it bilingual - French and English. He is super knowledgeable about La Paz and as a special treat, I got to try a local fruit : Chirimoya, bought at the market.
The best walking tour I have ever done! Such interesting information with pictures and video’s shown as examples as well. Charlie explained everything very well and kept our attention the whole time. Visited both iconic places of La Paz as well as local spots I wouldve never found myself. Must do in La Paz!
Honestly was amazing. 10/10 would recommend. I was very lucky and no one had signed up so it was just me and the guide - Charlie. Charlie was unreal, he showed me his favourite empanada place when I said I was hungry and hungover, told me all these amazing stories and history while still keeping it interesting and engaging. Charlie definitely made the tour so ask for him if possible but still the walking tour really explains the amazing history of La Paz that you wouldn’t get if you didn’t search for it.
Charlie, was an amazing tour guide, thank you so much for today, truly, not only were you an excellent guide that answer every random question I had, but your passion and depth of knowledge made the tour so much more interesting. Thank you so much! I'm so glad I booked this tour!!
Charlie, you’re a great guy. Thank you for your good energy and for the way you led the tour. You have an incredible knowledge of Bolivia, La Paz, and all the history around it. And thanks to the group as well. It was such a fun experience. See you next time!
Charlie was such a great, engaging and informative tour guide I thoroughly enjoyed my tour with him
We had a great experience with Charlie he explained clearly a lot of amazing details of the city and show us nice places to live the culture.
Charlie provided an informative and entertaining walking tour of La Paz that included many of the interesting locations in this unique and fascinating city. His knowledge, candour and humour made the day. A ride on the Teleferico to the El Alto market capped a fun day. I would recommend this tour as a great introduction to La Paz. Thank you!
Charlie provided an excellent city tour in La Paz. He is knowledgable and passionate about the city, the history and the culture of the people. He gave insights which brought everything to life. I learned a lot and had a great time - thank you!
The company didn’t tell me it would start at 3pm instead of 2pm, however the guide Charlie was great and very knowledgeable on all things political, historical, etc, and made the tour very enjoyable. I was the only person on it so we could chat more in-depth about the culture, history. Just remember to bring some cash for tipping!
It was a wonderful experience, so much knowledge about the local culture! The guide, Charlie, was spectacular, super enthusiastic, explaining everything! I highly recommend this tour!
Charlie was so nice and really informed it was great learning about the history and the current events that the city and people are experiencing. I would 10/10 recommend him to anyone!
Charlie provided an immersive, educational, fascinating, and colourful experience. I’m so grateful to have learned so much about Bolivia’s culture and history, which is richer than I could have imagined.
Extremely good tour. Charlie knows a lot about La Paz and shows you a side you will never encounter on your own. Big recommendation for anyone looking to explore La Paz.
We did the walking tour trough La Paz with Charlie and it was very fun & interesting! He told a lot of history and he was the best guide :)
Altitude organised a private walking tour for us with Sarah (who was recommended on a Facebook site) and it was really a very special experience for us. We really loved Sarah - she was a gorgeous person and very knowledgeable. It was the one on one chats that we enjoyed the most - hearing about life in Bolivia especially for a women (we were a group of ladies). Can’t rate her highly enough!!
This tour was the perfect first day activity in La Paz to get oriented. Sarah was our guide and she spoke English very well (I mention this as she has only been doing the tour a few months and asked us for feedback on her English). She shared good information (right amount and not too much) on the history, culture, and beliefs. As it was our first day in La Paz, we were still adjusting to the altitude and Sarah was very patient and paced the tour at a nice and slow level for us. She took great photos of us at various stops. Would highly recommend booking this tour.
The walking Tour with Charlie was very informative. Charlie also presented recent history, which was what we were most interested in. His English was excellent.
Sarah was an incredibly knowledgeable guide. She led us from Plaza Murillo to the witches’ market to San Pedro Prison, explaining everything from current political situations to spiritual practices, Bolivian economics, education, and social practices. Sarah answered all our questions thoughtfully, and she also has a great sense of humor.
A fantastic tour, very informative and entertaining. We went all around La Paz in two hours. Sarah was brilliant and I would recommend this tour.
Dorcas was unbelievably helpful. Always available & attentive to the requests of the group as well as with any issues that arose. Could not recommend her more!!!
Charlie was our guide for the walking tour. He was polite, engaging, observant, and above all very knowledgeable. We had a comprehensive overview of La Paz in about 3 hours that left us wanting to learn more. Charlie was passionate about the indigenous culture and traditions and took the time to explain many of the rituals and practices during our walk through the Witches Market.
Charlie did a great job showing us around La Paz! I felt like I learned a lot of interesting things about the culture as well as fun facts. He was also super considerate of my mom who was having trouble keeping up. The inclines at this altitude were tough.
It was a great tour, our tour guide Bernie was really nice and explained a lot of context and information about the city and culture of la Paz
Excellent! Bernie Flores was an outstanding guide. Definitely went above and beyond… with his professionalism and knowledge… Thanks Bernie!!
I liked a Lot beacause it showed me many things about bolivia more than all its culture. Itself I liked the route, the guide expressed himself very well.
one of the most interesting walking tours I have ever done!! Berni was a fantastic guide, thank you so much! we visited so many interesting spots and were told many entertaining and shocking stories about La Paz and Bolivia
We had a great time on the tour with Nelson! We covered a lot of area within the city and learned so much about being a local/the history of the city/various traditions. The group wasn't too big which was nice for asking questions. Would recommend the tour early on as it is a great way to get an understanding of the neighborhoods, food, and culture.
We did a walking tour with Nelson and had a great time. We learned a ton about La Paz’s history and current state, as well as a lot about the culture of Bolivia. Nelson was super friendly and knowledgeable—would recommend!
Great tour. Really insightful and entertaining. Guide, Nelson, was brilliant. Booked through altitude and they said it started at 2pm when in fact it started at 3 - just an FYI.
Great walking tour of La Paz and El Alto giving you an insight into its history. Bernie and Charlie were great guides & very friendly
We just did the walking tour and it was absolutely amazing! Our guide Berni was super enthusiastic and knowlegable and told us a lot of really entertaining stories. There was never a dull moment! Also the staff at the office was super helpful and extreamly friendly! Best walking tour I did in South America, reccommend it to everyone! 10/10!!
We had the walking tour with Bernie, he was a great guide and gave us really good insight how La Paz is for locals and some off the beat information! Highly recommend. Our tour was more like 3,5 hours and not 3 but never boring :)
The tour was very good because the guide batman was so funny and he explained all with details now I'm good knowledge about this city
Highly recommend this walking tour! Our guide Nelson was extremely informative telling us about this history of La Paz, the rituals and practices that come from the witches markets and a lot of information about San Pedro Prison. He answered all of our questions and helped us plan what to do for the rest of our time in La Paz. Highly recommend Nelson!
Nelson gave us a really interesting walking tour of La Paz, sharing interesting political insights and sharing stories about the prison in La Paz. We did the tour on a Sunday so Nelson took us up by cable car to the massive flea market and then dropped us at the Cholita Wrestling.
The walking tour was amazing , both Nelson and Berthy was a great guide, telling and showing us the interesting things about La Paz, answering all our queries, we were entertained the whole walking tour with very interesting facts. A must do when you go visit La Paz
Bernie was fantabulous and gave us so many insights into Bolivias culture, beliefs and traditions. He explained the impact of the current political situation and how it is shaping the country
The tour was really nice. Saw an amazing side of La Paz and Nelson knew a lot! After the tour he gave us perfect advice for the cable lines.
Berni took me and my friends to both the football and the city tour. We had the most amazing time as Berni was informative, friendly, and entertaining. Couldn’t recommend his tour enough, what a man!
Great walking tour. Eloy (Batman) was an amazing tour guide with deep knowledge of La Paz and answered all of our questions.
