Delightful experience! Chairs are provided. History of tea and tea ceremony was very interesting. Yukita was a wonderful host!
Interesting experience, both for adults and kids. We learned about matcha history and how to prepar the drink ourselves.
Well suited to non Japanese people Clear explanations. Hands on experience. Person preforming the ceremony knowledgeable and professional
Yuko was very personable and knowledgeable. She shared the history as well as benefits of matcha, and walked us through the experience of making our own matcha. She spoke excellent English and made everyone in our workshop feel very comfortable and included. Would definitely recommend!
Our host was very informative and well prepared. It was a great experience and would definitely recommend. Easy to find and warmly welcomed.
Wonderful experience. Peaceful and informative. Delicious too! Sensai was experienced and engaging at just the right level.
Well worth it! Fumika was a wonderful guide with excellent English. She also offered to take pictures for all guests as we mixed our own matcha. We appreciated learning about the history, etiquette, and customs. Perfect amount of time. Recommend doing after breakfast.
One of my favorite experiences in Japan. It was so interesting to learn about how special the tea ceremony is in Japan then to get to practice it yourself
A beautiful tea ceremony experience in Kyoto We booked this tea ceremony through Viator, and it was a wonderful experience. We chose a ceremony with chairs rather than sitting on the floor, which made it very comfortable. The person preparing the tea made the experience especially memorable, sharing fascinating details and sparking our curiosity about the tradition. It was a beautiful opportunity to slow down and appreciate the care behind the ceremony. A lovely memory of our time in Kyoto!
Was very informative and enjoyed learning how to make matcha. Very friendly and highly recommend
It was very interesting, first we're introduced to the history of the ceremony and what it is about, and then we experience it, we liked it very much
We were late, which was our fault, so we were unable to attend. But I definitely appreciate the professionalism and how they handled it. They even offered an opportunity to come another time. But due to our schedule, we were unable to take up their offer.
Kenta is a Matcha Star. We loved how dedicated and passionate he is about the Matcha Ceremony and the history. His skill and precision and personal touch were a sight to see. This was a highlight of our time in Kyoto and trip to Japan.the rest of the staff were also friendly and welcoming.
This tea ceremony was absolutely wonderful. The woman leading the ceremony, Yuko, was so kind and welcoming. She was also extremely knowledgeable about tea ceremony practices and the history of these practices in Japan. The matcha was also delicious! Highly recommend.
This was more than just a tea ceremony - it was a history lesson combined with a traditional cultural experience. We had a large group of 9 (including a 2-year-old). We got a little lost trying to find them, but they came and found us wandering around. Our tea ceremony master Yukari was so knowledgeable, and she patiently answered all the questions we had. We didn't have to take off our shoes or sit on the floor. After explaining the history and significance of the tea ceremony, she taught us how to properly make the matcha and how to enjoy it with the traditional sweets. It was a very enjoyable experience.
It was perfect visit with Yu. She explained everything in English and the ceremony was a great knowledgeable experience for me and my kids.
Honestly, when we arrived here I was a little nervous because it looks like it's in an apartment building type of location, but once they let us in everything was great. It was a nice middle ground for us because I was traveling with my parents and did not want them to need to kneel for the entire thing. We sat at the edge of the mat and the experience was incredible. I was worried that my parents would not like the taste of matcha, but when it was made so fresh and the quality of the matcha was so high, they really enjoyed it. Our tea master was amazing and it was beautiful watching her through the ceremony and learning from her. Definitely one of the most interesting and enjoyable experiences of the trip!
A wonderful experience. A highlight for our three week trip to Japan. Do this excursion to emerse yourself in the beautiful, historic and spiritual culture and tradition of Japan. Our Guide and Tea Hoast , Akemi, was one of our favorites of any travel excursion of all time. Highly recommended.
High praise for this tea ceremony demonstration with Yuko-San. She was very patient (and complimentary) with our technique and she made it look so easy. A wonderful experience right in the heart of Gion and it kick started our otherwise busy day of touring. It was truly ichigo ichie.
An absolute highlight of our time in Osaka! Our host, Akemi, was wonderful and made us feel so welcome. The sweets were delicious, and learning about the deep history of tea was fascinating. We loved getting to make our own matcha! Highly recommend this authentic experience. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Kenta was an amazing knowledgeable teacher and we had absolutely delectable matcha! Would recommend. We also learned lots of history and facts. He also spoke amazing English!
This tea ceremony is locate on an upper floor of a fairly non-descript building accessed by a small lift. Don't arrive too early as there is nowhere to wait outside. There were only around 8 guests in the tea ceremony, which was conducted in English. It was fascinating to watch and understand the history of such ceremonies and how the tea masters are trained. We got to make our own tea. I found the matcha very bitter but they do provide you with sugar. The ceremony lasted about an hour.
We had a really fun time with the tea master Yuko! She explained everything really well and the Tea was delicious. Worth the money!
This was very enjoyable and informative. Our tea master Akemi was very knowledgeable, friendly, and sweet! Great experience overall!! Definitely a highlight of our trip!

Really cool experience. Never seen a tea ceremony before so it was very cool. Big thank you to Toyoko for being the tea master
We had a peaceful and informative tea ceremony on June 30th. We were lucky to have a ceremony with just my daughter and myself that day which gave us the chance to ask questions afterwards and learn more even after the informative ceremony. Nice discussion. Easy to find.
Yukari was amazing! Very interesting to learn about the history of matcha!
Katodo was knowledgeable and explained everything very well. We enjoyed the experience and would recommend it.
A beautiful tea ceremony with an informative host. Graceful and tranquil time had by all.

What a cool experience in Kyoto! I found it extremely interesting and informative. The tea master, Akemi, was perfectly gracious and took the time to explain everything that went into the tea ceremony, including its history and the reasons behind every action. It wad exactly the kind of Japanese cultural experience I was looking for to share with my family.
Great information and the ability to sit rather than kneel. Showing the way of the ceremony and explaining the 'why' of the different types of ceremony was very informative. Thankyou
