Taira was a wonderful host who taught us so much! He was charming and well-informed, and we had a great time. This tour was an eye-opener for Westerners to learn about geisha culture. We truly enjoyed it.

We enjoyed the tour a lot. Our guide Kanami was very charming and gave us a lot of information on Gion and the traditional Maiko-san life. The Maiko-san dance was nice to watch and we had fun playing the game. Both the Maiko-san and the tea house owner were very nice, my daughter even got to wear the traditional shoes of the Maiko-san.

We had a wonderful experience with Taira. He was friendly and interesting and provided a nice balance of historical info and conversation for us and our teenaged daughter. We started with a short tour of part of the Gion district before heading to the tea house (also a fan shop) to meet the Maika-san, which was really fascinating. Everyone helped us have a wonderful time. Our tour was only two hours (about an hour to wander, and an hour with the Maika-san) and it passed very quickly. Consider extending yours.

Seeing the dances of such a talented maiko AND playing a fan game with her was truly extraordinary. This was one of the most memorable experiences of our trip. Our guide was knowledgeable in architecture and local neighborhood landmarks. He was great with the kids and happy to answer their questions. Highly recommend this tour!

She explained the traditions and culture of the geisha and maiko in a way that was both engaging and easy to understand, making our walk through Gion come alive. The Maiko performance was beautiful and very entertaining. One of my favorite parts of the experience was getting to play a traditional game with the Maiko, which made the experience feel personal and unforgettable. It was a rare opportunity to interact with a Maiko in such an authentic setting. Rin was our guide and he was amazing, so knowledgeable and engaging. This tour is without a doubt one of the most memorable experiences I have had on any of my travels. I will be recommending to my friends who are visiting later in the year. Thank you to Rin and Haruka and the amazing Maiko Sam we spent quality time with. Our guide, Josh was excellent, friendly and informative. He shared so much interesting information about Geisha. The show was amazing! Fumi-aya was so beautiful and friendly. We really enjoyed her Japanese dance and she was so cute answering all of our questions and even playing a game with us. This exceeded our expectations and was truly enjoyed by all!

This was a really special experience. We started with a walking tour through a few of the districts of Gion with our guide, Satsuki, who was excellent. She shared lots of interesting and relevant insight into this fascinating part of the city, and did a great job keeping the group together as we navigated the busy streets. After the walk, we were taken to a beautifully decorated back room of a fan shop, where we were served tea and a small sweet – a really nice, calming moment before the highlight of the afternoon. Meeting a Maiko was such a privilege. She performed a beautifully choreographed dance, answered questions, and even played some games with us. She was incredibly sweet, and it gave us such a fascinating glimpse into this cultural tradition. The whole experience felt very personal and something quite unique – I’d highly recommend it.

What a great time I had on the Art Of Geisha Tour. Mona was my guide and was very knowledgeable in showing things you might miss if just walking Gion on your own. The Maiko part was special and very entertaining as you do not get to see one unless you book a tour. I would highly recommend!

I am very happy that I took part in this event. We have done a lovely walk through the streets of Gion and wondered into Miyagawacho. Ai is a very knowledgeable guide who is also very passionate about the world of geisha, so it is not just any topic for her and I think this is a strong profile of a good guide. When we arrived at the establishment, we got to enjoy tea with wagashi. Soon after the maiko has arrived we saw two beautiful dances followed by a Q&A and a photo session. After that each of us played tosenkyo with her :) She is clearly a champion, it was a lot of fun and laughter. I really enjoyed this, it was charming, well structured, it vas really good. I could do this in turns.

Incredible experience! Both for the activity and our guide Ai, who was very clear in her stories, very near and trying to help with everything. Will never forget the uniqueness of meeting a maiko for the first time, interact with her and even play a local game. Thnx a lot!!!!

Walking tour with Ai as our guide was great. She is lovely and very knowledgeable. Small group of only 6 people makes good atmosphere. Maiko show is definitely something you should experience while visiting Kyoto.

A highlight of our trip for sure!!! Genki was informative during our walking tour and highlighted the history of the area and a few fun shops! The maiko experience was fantastic!! She preformed two dances and we had a great Q&A session and pics and played a game. Very cool experience and I’m so pleased we booked the tour!

I can strongly recommend this tour. Rin our guide gave us a good insight in the geisha culture. Our group was 5 members only adding to the feel that the Maiko was almost dancing privately for us. She does two dances, there is ample time for a Q&A with photo shoot and a fun traditional game with her afterwards. Worth your money. I frequently travel to Japan for business and leisure and can only say that it was one of the best activities I’ve done so far!!!

This was a bucket list item fulfilled. I always been fascinated by the Giesha and wanted to attend a show and see them live. We enjoyed the Maiko show thoroughly and I even got to play a game with the maiko and beat her as well,, this was another bucket list fulfilled. The team is very nice and we had a smooth check in process and reserved seats to get front row seats for the show. I will definitely be back with my family to attend this once again. Thanks Yusuke for fixing the confusion on the booking platform we had initially and thank for taking care if it and we will back again in the future.

Very good, Ali is very friendly and informative. She's very keen to answer all of your questions. Maiko young lady was very good with her two seasonal dances. Overall, I'm very happy.

Ai was a great guide, very bubbly & made everyone feel welcome. I loved learning about Maiko culture & how they live their life’s. The fan game played with the Maiko was a lot of fun (Even though I sucked). Overall, I recommend this tour to everyone & if you have Ai as a guide for it you’re really in for a treat!

I am so disgusted at this company "Guide Me Japan. As per their instructions I turned up at izumo-no statue half an hour before the meeting time and waited nearly an hour after the meeting time. Loss to me 10000 taken from my bank account 2600 taxi there 1400 taxi to hotel.

My husband and I had the best time with our guide Ai. The tour was a very good introduction to Kyoto - Gion district. The guide gave us very good recommendations and the tea house experience with the myko was excellent. Totally recommend it !

Our tour guide was well informed and friendly. She answered all our questions willingly. The tour provided an authentic experience that was engaging and fascinating.

We were not sure what to expect. But we thoroughly enjoyed our walk through Gion with our guide, Rin and our encounter with the Maiko, Fumiaya. She performed two traditional dances and then sat for a Q and A session. It wasn’t in the least contrived and she was upfront and honest with us (through an interpreter). Then we played a typical Japanese game that involves flipping a fan to hit a target. Fumiaya was very good at it and we could see the girl beneath the maiko make-up and costume as she engaged in the game. We felt privileged to have met her and to have had a glimpse of the geisha life.

The performance was beautiful!! Maiko san was very beautiful and friendly...she was very courteous and carried herself with elegance.

We had a good time walking around the Gion district with Rin guiding us. He talked us through the differences between Maiko and Geiko, and more, until we got to meet the Maiko. The show was beautiful and the chance to speak with the Maiko was priceless! A core memory we'll bring with us home!

We attended a meiko performance and walking tour with Ai. Ai was a brilliant tour guide - very friendly, knowledgable, and engaging. The meiko performance was enjoyable, and we appreciated the unique opportunity to ask her questions at the end. She graciously shared about her life and what it’s like to train as a meiko. We would definitely recommend the tour and performance!

Really great tour with expert guide Ai. She knew everything about the place and walked us through the history lane with recommendations for souvenir shops which otherwise we may not have known. She was very warm and responsive during the tour and helped in translation. She has very good command over English and excellent communication for the tour. Highly recommended to go with Ai

This is a very unique experience which I highly recommend. Our guide Rin was informative and spoke excellent English. We loved the opportunity to meet the maiko Fumiyui and talk to her about her life training to be a Geiko. Rin translated seamlessly and we loved the dance performances and the very entertaining traditional game with fans at the end of the afternoon tea. A great experience all round

Great experience in a small group! A walk is easy and through the historical Gion district. Maiko dances right in front of you and one can ask her a lot of questions. Rin (our guide) was very friendly and is also happy to tell you more about the culture and the city. Cheers!

I liked how this tour was l very personable because we were a small group! Our tour guide was very kind and shared a lot of interesting information. We got sweets and tea at the tea house. The Geiko Performance was beautiful and we got to play a traditional japanese game.

Ai, our guide, was so helpful and accommodating. One of my friends was unable to do the walk and she found a cafe for her to wait. Ai's explanations were very indepth and interesting and her English was excellent. The Geisha experience was superb. Highly recommended in every aspect. Anita

I booked this experience during my stay in Kyoto to get some insights of the local Geiko and Meiko traditions. We first walked around Gion area and got some cultural information from our guide. We proceeded to a tea house for the Meiko performance which was really interesting. The Q&A afterwards was especially insightful as we got to ask the Meiko all kinds of questions about her life and general culture. I definitely recommend!

Really enjoyed the experience, had seen a show before but this was more intimate with only 6 in the audience. Tang was an attentive guide who took care of us and took some great photos. Really great experience with the performance and games.

This experience was very wonderful. I would recommend it to my friends and families. The tour itself is just breathtaking. You can’t standby and pass this without taking a tour. You’re looking into another world. It makes so much sense how Japan is so pure and so lightened by the history of where it’s been given and then the opportunity to actually see it. I played a game with a Maika it was quite fun. Sadly I lost but it was close, we also witnessed two dance and took a tour to a local Shire.
