Amazing experience!!!! Educational and just a lovely time!
Very authentic and genuine experience. Highly recommend!
The Tea Ceremony was presented to us in a very traditional and unique way. We enjoyed the process of making tea the old way and the sweets she served were extra bonus, Highly recommended.
Very traditional experience for a small group so seemed very personal. The woman who taught and showed us the ritual was lovely and then we all had a turn to make our own matcha tea.
We had the most wonderful time at this Tea Ceremony. The lady, Yuko-San, conducting the ceremony was super friendly and most informative. Her mother used to do Tea Ceremonies as well. The in-depth knowledge of the culture and history was evident throughout. It was a refreshingly simple, mindful, zen filled and very interesting experience. I would highly recommend this place for a group/family activity while in Kyoto.
A beautiful moment in time, relaxing, informative and an experience we will not forget
Really nice experience to get in touch with culture and japanese living philosophy. It is really a must
Loved the experience! Sakura was great
Amazing experience with a knowledgeable host who is patient and informative. We got the chance to make our own matcha which other experiences rarely offer! Great experience.
It was an amazing experience!
Very cool, chill experience. Lots of history and it’s hands on.
In a day of hustle and bustle on our family trip to Japan, this was a fantastic way to center ourselves and regain our inner peace for the evening. I loved the care and thoughtfulness put into this experience and would recommend it to anyone I know that visits Kyoto!
Wonderful experience learning about the history, background, and significance of the tea ceremony with Japanese culture. Plus yummy tea and sweets! I am planning to share the experience with my friends and family when I return home.
So great Yuko, was our tea ceremony presenter and she was so great.
Wonderful experience in the tea ceremony with Yoku. Highly highly recommend to anyone wanting to learn more about Japanese culture surrounding tea ceremonies
Lovely Japanese culture. Great learning experience for my boys.
This was a very authentic and educational ceremony. The instructor explained every step and then allowed us to do each step. I loved it and would do it again! Highly recommend!
Informative, fun and interactive tea ceremony. Yuko was amazing and so friendly. She explained everything and created a wonderful family memory.

Enjoyed the experience so much. Very peaceful and educational. Our host was lovely. Even our two teens enjoyed!
Great experience learning all about matcha, the person was really kind and clear explaining and making us part of the ceremony.
It’s easier if you can kneel It was so informative, professional We loved it!! They have a nice facility and the lady that led was very nice and knowledgeable
We have been to Kyoto 5 times, family from the United States and by far this was the best learning experience for tea making and learning the tea culture. It was a beautiful ceremony and our children, ages 6 and 8, loved it and got to participate. Perfect right amount of time associated for kids this age and adults. We highly recommend this tea experience.
They did a good job overall. I enjoyed learning the traditional way to do the ceremony. I liked mixing the matcha and going through the small wall opening.
Our teacher was very elegant, and she allowed us to experience the sacred nature of the ceremony. We loved it!
The girls at the tearoom gave a first class insight into this cultural experience, informative and educational we loved it, Would highly recommend.
We learned history and the importance of the tea ceremony. The hosts were amazing making sure we were educated and had fun at the same time. Such a great experience. Would highly recommend if you’re in Kyoto.
The ceremony is more than just matcha. It's about understanding the philosophy behind. The tea master has also explained the history before the ceremony developed to what we see nowadays. I chose to absorb the whole ceremony in my mind instead of photos. The experience is not something replaceable.
It was very hands on and intimate! The host made sure we had an authentic experience, additionally it’s very well located
Very nice experience with my family. We enjoyed the tea ceremony, and making the matcha. The place was very clean and nice.
Wonderful experience! Although my family isn’t very good in english, the kind lady explained everything clearly and thoroughly, leaving no doubts behind. The making of matcha was well-explained and clear thanks to the lady’s instructions.
It was a good and brief summary of the tea ceremony traditions. We also had the opportunity to make our own. They started on time and were very respectful
Great introduction to the traditional tea ceremony in an unfussy, friendly way. Easy to understand the stages and history, in a small group setting. Reverential but not stuffy!
Such a neat experience however if sitting cross legged or kneeling isn’t on your repertoire you may want to think twice! We definitely were fidgety and trying to find different ways of sitting on the floor!
Very nicely done. Comfortable, serene and with mix of serious and good humor. And make your own tea. Good fun
Loved this place! Beautiful setting, learned about the traditions of a tea ceremony and got to make our own matcha. It was a fun way to experience more of the culture
Unforgettable. Dont miss. The demonstration is beautiful. And when its your turn you realize how hard it really is!
wonderful experience, our host was very knowledgeable and a wonderful teacher. We also had a nice group that was very encouraging when we tried things on our own. Learned a lot would highly recommend.
It was exceptionally relaxing. If you are staying in Kyoto, the owner of the tea house is also the proprietor at the hotel GOCO near the Nishiki market, and you can get a discount on the tea ceremony. Do a bit of stretching beforehand if you are not used to sitting in the floor for about period of time.
Very nice host , learnt about traditional Japanese tea ceremony, explained well in English . Walking distance from our hotel .
I was the only one, but it felt very personal. Great activity to do, and a nice way to learn about the significance of the tea ceremony in a relaxed atmosphere. And the tea was great as well!
Our host was so welcoming and did a great job sharing the history and significance of tea ceremonies in Japan. We also really enjoyed getting to make matcha for each other!
Parfait/ perfect. Nous avons passé un excellent moment . Yuko sans was vers great and helpfull. Give it a try if you ca.
Very lovely ceremony location. Our host spoke English well and was very detailed about the process. It truly was relaxing experience something everyone should consider moving forward.
A wonderful insight into the Cultural background of tea ceremony . Host was delightful . Just lovely
Very good and very informative. Our host was perfect, explained the history and reasons behind the tea ceremony. We were very lucky as there was only the 2 of us, so it felt very private and intimate. Don't worry if you have bad knees, you can have a chair to sit on. Would definitely recommend to others.
