Nishiki Market Brunch Walking Tour (7 Tastings + Brunch)

Hikaru was amazing. Knowledgeable, outstanding English and full of energy. Tour was great fun and everyone really enjoyed it.

Our guide, Yuka H.P, was informative, fun and really made the tour for us. Great selection of snacks from the market, as well as options for brunch in local restaurant. Would recommend!

Hikaru was a great guide and took us to some great places to try a variety of foods and was great fun to spend the morning with.

Hikato made this a great experience, he was so friendly and chatty. The tour is about three hours but it honestly doesn't drag and you are sat down for a good chunk halfway through that, the distance covered wasn't miles either, so if you already have sore feet it's not one that is going to really hurt. You get to try all sorts. Someone posted that you could do it all yourself, which technically is true, but the guide literally knows everything you are tasting and trying and makes it all come alive so much more.

Hikaru was an AMAZING tour guide! So knowledgeable and answered all of our questions about the market and Japanese culture overall. The tour itself was fantastic too, loved all the food and the market was so cute with lots of local shops and eats.

We had an amazing tour through the Markets of Kyoto, and it was a very informative experience. Our tour guide Nori was excellent and we had a very pleasant time. I’d recommend to anybody interested in finding out more about Kyotos historic districts and shrines.

Our guide, Hikura, was very informative, helpful and fun! He gave us great information in history of sites group passing, including a short to walk on the Pontocho Alley.. We arrived early enough in the Nishiki market before it was too crowded and we were able to try several unique bites that I might not have tried on my own. All were good! Overall, I would recommend!

We had such a great time on this tour. Samuri (i know this name is wrong) was such a great guide, she was very knowledgeable and showed us everything. Because there was only the 4 of us (sisters) she allowed us to go into shops we wanted. The food we tried was amazing, such a great variety. Thoroughly recommend this tour. We had a great time!

Mich was a wonderful guide. She taught us many interesting things about Kyoto/Japanese food history. We walked through several streets of Kyoto learning about culture, stopped at a shrine, had a full meal brunch at a restaurant and finished the tour walking through Nishiki market and sampling things.

Tour includes about an hour sitting in a restaurant. We loved our knowledgeable and enthusiastic guide Hikaru

Walking tour through Nishiki Market. Tastings are samples of food at market stalls, ending with lunch at a restaurant. Guide Hikaru was very friendly and knowledgeable about every dish. He also gave a nice tour of the shrine in the market and some of the streets around the market.

The Nishiki Market Brunch Walking Tour was fantastic, and our guide, Yumi, made it truly special. Yumi was incredibly kind, knowledgeable, and fun. She shared great information about the market and Japanese food while making everyone feel welcome. We loved all the food stops and would highly recommend this tour—especially with Yumi as your guide!

Our guide was nice but the tour did not include a lot of history as most do. Supposedly you get 7 tastings & a brunch. The tastings were 2 actual tastings & the rest were free samples we could have gotten on our own. Those skewers in the photo of meat, we did not get. We got 1 skewer of eel after asking & offering to pay for it ourselves. Picture makes you think everyone gets a skewer. Anyhow, would recommend walking around yourself enjoying the samples & buying what you want. Feel like we got scammed a bit.

I am being nice since our tour guide was a lovely person, but I don’t think this is worth your time nor money. We ate at a not-so-special restaurant for brunch (which our guide said was the best one they offer…) and most of the other “tastings” were free samples. I genuinely feel I wasted money and could have bought more interesting food for much less if I walked around by myself. It’s nice to get to know people but would not recommend.

The whole tour was amazing!! Reiko our tour guide was really nice and helpful answering all our questions. It was a lovely day out and trying all the food!

Another amazing experience here in Kyoto.

Nishiki Market is a must see in Kyoto. If you dont want to go to Temples and shrines, this a great culinary and visual experience. We tried about 5 foods and then went to a restaurant. We also walked the street of surrounding area. Take a taxi to meeting stop instead of subway. Iko the guide was a wonderful friendly guide.

Great tour with Mich around Nishiki Market and old streets of Kyoto. Learnt lots of interesting things about the history of some of the sights and tasted various market fare. All new to us. Very tasty brunch in restaurant, too. Mich is a great host and we are very happy that we were on her tour.

Emi served as our guide and was truly wonderful, being very friendly, informative, and helpful. We were fortunate to sample a variety of delicacies at the market and observed many interesting foods.

We found this tour to be OK as we seemed to be rushed, the pace in the market could have been a little slower to take it all in. Plus would have been better to have actually eaten in the market itself, rather than a 7min walk to a restaurant where the food was ok, not fabulous.

Hikaru was a fantastic guide!! We have taken numerous guided tours and he was by far the most knowledgeable, positive and professional guide during our journey to Japan. I can’t recommend this tour enough!

We didn't actually go, so have no idea what it's like. Be careful to keep your booking email, as I wasn't able to open the booking on TripAdvisor, I thought it was cancelled, as all my other bookings worked fine.l, this kept taking me in a loop saying come back later. Couldn't find the original booking email. Couldn't see what day or time etc even. No communication from the company until the day before, when the money had already left my account and it was too late to cancel/move it. Unnecessary stress on our trip of a lifetime. Viator refused to listen and insisted it's too late to cancel, even though this was not the issue. Be warned!!

We lived the history on our tour. Chie was very knowledgeable and accommodating. I needed to get something at the pharmacy Chie helped us find the right item immediately. In addition, my daughter asked for her help with purchasing an item. Chie didn’t hesitate at all. It was perfect. We were definitely happy with our tour and Chie as our guide.

The tour was amazing! I enjoyed our experience. Our guide explained the history of food and commerce in the area as we walk to our sites. The food was delicious. We stopped at a couple of stalls at the market to sample some food and then went to eat lunch at a beautiful local restaurant (This is not a food tour where you only go to food stands). Our guide was wonderful and had a great personality for this experience.

We learned about Japanese culture and some differences with the USA. Our guide Hikaru took us to grab some delicious treats in this tour (more treats than most food tours in my opinion, which I enjoyed!). Thank you!

I have been on many different walking tours all over the world and Hikaru was my favorite guide I’ve ever had. His personality, knowledge, enthusiasm, and hospitality is second to none.
