We had the best tour by Kei! Amazing local spots and peaceful beauty away from the crowds. Amazing for couples! Kei had great English and had a mixture of interesting things to share with us. Our e-bike tour of Kyoto was one of the highlights of our trip, thanks to our guide Kei, who was genuinely invested in making sure we had an excellent experience and absolutely hit the mark. He was incredibly knowledgeable and personable, and beyond Kyoto itself, he taught us so much about Japanese culture and other interesting topics we never would have known about otherwise. Kei took us to off-the-beaten-path spots with almost no crowds, which was so refreshing after how packed some of the tourist areas were when we went out on our own. He even asked about our food preferences and then had us try some really great food at several stops along the way. We'd highly recommend this tour as a great way to see a lot of the city, especially if you're lucky enough to have Kei as your guide!
Fun tour. Experienced friendly tour guide (Kiyoto). Perfect pace and amount of places to visit. Learned lots about the traditional culture of Kyoto
We booked a private e-bike tour of Kyoto (the "off the beaten path" tour) and it was fine but nothing special. Our tour guide was sweet and seemed very nice but his English was difficult to understand (he had lived in the US but we still all found it hard to understand him) and he wasn't extremely knowledgeable about the sites we visited (he gave us some information, but couldn't always answer follow up questions, and just wasn't as thorough as other tour guides we've had). For example, compared to a tour in Tokyo we did where our tour guide pointed out all the locations we would be visiting on a map that she gave us to keep and carried a tablet with links to information that she regularly pointed out, at the end of our Kyoto e-bike tour we weren't even exactly sure which neighborhoods we had been to (we just followed the guide and he never explained where we were going, it was more like here's this temple, then here's that shrine). Also two of the bicycles had batteries that seemed to only work intermittently and the guide didn't check in to make sure everything was working ok. On other e-bike tours I've done the guide will periodically ask riders (there were only 4 of us on this tour) is everything ok etc, but our guide mainly rode on ahead of us. Finally, lunch was fine but the first place we stopped didn't have availability and even though our tour guide had sent us choices for lunch in advance I don't know which of these places (if any) we actually stopped at. Again, the guide was nice and he did offer some explanations but given what we paid for a private tour for four of us (over $450) I expected more, and compared to other tours I have done in Japan and elsewhere this was just average.
Azu was a fantastic tour guide. He provided good history and background information. Thank you for a wonderful time.
Wonderful way to explore Kyoto! Yonni was very knowledgeable and so kind!
Takuma was amazing! Like having a friend show you around Tokyo, flexible pace, choose your own stops and you have a tour guide. Explore like the locals do and see Kyoto from a bike :)
Takuma made it a wonderful experience. We went all around Kyoto and saw some amazing sites!
This was the best activity we did in Kyoto by far. Kiyoto is a true master of the city and crafted the perfect curated tour for my wife and myself. He took amazing photos along the way. We will never forget this experience. Book it if you can!!!
Amazing experience. Our tour guide Takumo was the best! Highly recommend
Kiyoto was an exceptional guide on our e-bike tour. We asked for low key, less crowded spots and he delivered! He took us to beautiful, peaceful spots that were exactly what we hoped for. He was very knowledgeable and went above and beyond to explain context for what we were seeing. 10/10 recommend!
We had an amazing time exploring Kyoto with Kei! We are a family of four, and this was definitely the highlight of our trip. Kei was incredibly thoughtful and kindly arranged to meet us very early in the morning to help us avoid the summer heat. The timing was perfect, and it made the ride much more comfortable. He also contacted us before the tour about the places we would like to visit and gave us great suggestions. The bikes were a fantastic way to explore the city. We could easily get between the major sights as well as quieter areas that would have been much harder to reach on foot. Kei knew exactly the best spots for pictures and shared great local insights and recommendations along the way. Kei also had a trainee accompany us, which was a wonderful bonus and a great help throughout the tour. They are both friendly, patient, knowledgeable, and genuinely cared about making sure we had a great day. Kei also gave us excellent recommendations for restaurants and other places to visit, several of which we tried afterward and really enjoyed. Kei took lots of photos and videos during the day and even put together a beautiful collage for us afterward. We absolutely loved our day with Kei and would highly recommend this bike tour to anyone visiting Kyoto.
Asuka was a wonderful guide. She was engaging, knowledgeable, and happy to make sure our tour checked off the major sites we wanted to see while including some local hidden gems and even an impromptu ice cream stop!
I visited Japan with my family during the summer of 2026, and our days in Kyoto will remain unforgettable. We booked a cycling tour with Kei as our guide. This friendly young man had prepared everything perfectly to introduce us to some truly beautiful places, while also adapting immediately to our own interests and wishes. Kei guided us safely to several amazing locations and shared fascinating insights along the way, allowing us to appreciate each place even more. It was the perfect combination of culture, craftsmanship, and breathtaking scenery. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone who wants to discover Kyoto in a unique and memorable way. We had an absolutely amazing experience on our Kyoto e-bike tour with Kei! He was an incredible guide and tailored our bike route perfectly to our preferences, making the entire tour feel personalized and special. We visited Fushimi Inari Shrine and Kiyomizu-dera Temple, and Kei took the time to explain the history and significance of both sites. He also took so many great photos and videos of us throughout the tour, which we really appreciated! One of the highlights was stopping at one of Kei’s favorite lunch spots, where we all ordered the oyakodon he highly recommended—it was delicious! Kei truly thought of everything and even came prepared with sunscreen and bug spray for us. To top it all off, Kei created a video of our tour and sent it to us afterward, which was such an unexpected and thoughtful touch. We couldn’t have asked for a better guide or experience. If you’re visiting Kyoto, we highly recommend booking this tour and asking for Kei!
Kei, was a wonderful guide. Very knowledgeable of Kyoto and made the tour fun and enjoyable! Highly recommend this tour and Kei as your guide.
We had a wonderful day visiting Kyoto. Our guide Takuma was excellent and was very informative. Visiting by e-bikes was a great option as we were able to cover lots of ground. I highly recommend this tour.
We had a wonderful tour with Kei. He was super kind, patient and flexible and made our experience memorable and fun. He was able to accommodate some requests we had and made sure to customize the tour to keep my kids interested and they loved it. Highly recommend!
Definitely do this!!! Such a wonderful day with Kei. He showed us a perfect day in Kyoto with highlights & hidden gems. Wouldn’t change a thing. The bikes are so fun & such a perfect way to get around Kyoto that would be difficult by walking. He gave us incredible suggestions which we have already tried out & recommended as well. He was a great guide & an exceptional person to know. We are a family of 3 with a teenager & we all loved this tour. We told Kei we would give him 7 stars is we could!!! Highly recommend!! He also took many photos for us & videos and sent us the BEST collage for our memories
We had a really nice tour with Yonnie as our guide. We got a message before our tour started with a suggested route, which we could adapt to our wishes. She then changed the route a little bit and also found a really good lunch place that suited our dietary wishes as well. Yonnie taught us a lot about the history and we really learned to appreciate Kyoto a lot more (at first we were a bit overwhelmed by how crowded and touristy it was, so we asked her to show us some less touristy spots and we saw the most amazing temples with almost no tourists!). Thank you so much for the amazing tour, we had a lot of fun!!
Amazing day seeing the sights in Kyoto. Our guide Mana was fabulous. She expertly guided us around the beautiful city showing us historical sights, areas, parks and back roads of the city that few tourists see. The e-bikes were perfect for cruising through busy areas smoothly and Mana’s guidance was efficient. We have toured 6 cities in Japan and this 6 hour e-bike tour was our favorite!
Our guide, Yonnie offered an exceptional experience. Her knowledge of the areas visited was truly impressive. She is a delightful young lady, well educated and a lot of fun. I would definitely recommend this tour for an enjoyable tour through Kyoto away from the busy tourists and commerce areas.
We had an absolutely wonderful experience on the Kyoto Private E-Cycling Tour and couldn’t recommend it more highly. Our guide was incredibly friendly, thoughtful, and attentive from start to finish. She really took the time to tailor the tour to our interests, which made the whole day feel personal and relaxed rather than rushed or generic. One of the highlights was how flexible and accommodating she was—she brought us to two lovely coffee spots along the way and even gave us a couple of great lunch options to choose from, both of which looked fantastic. It felt like we were exploring the city with a knowledgeable friend rather than being on a structured tour. We also really appreciated her ability to navigate routes that avoided the busy crowds, allowing us to enjoy Kyoto. A particularly special touch was when she surprised us with two beautiful keepsakes from a specialty tea shop to celebrate our honeymoon. It was such a thoughtful gesture and something we’ll always remember. All in all, this tour was a perfect blend of sightseeing, local insight, and personal touches. If you’re visiting Kyoto, this is an experience not to miss!
Excellent bike tour with exceptional input from Mana whose knowledge and experience was outstanding. Totally enjoyed it.
I totally recommend the e-bike tour! Our tour guide Yuzuki was so great! She was nice, accommodating, and very knowledgeable! We went to so many sites and we’d never have been able to do it on our own without Yuzuki. It was such a great way to see the city!
We had a fantastic tour with Takuma. We visited many places in Kyoto and learned a lot. Our guide was very friendly accommodating and knowledgeable. Highly recommend this tour. An excellent way to explore Kyoto. Okini Arigato!
Kie was a delightful, friendly and knowledgeable guide. He speaks with pride and love for Japan. Being outdoors and moving through the streets effortlessly was a highlight of our trip!
Kei was an excellent to our guide! He is very knowledgeable about the area and we were able to see a lot of Kyoto in the four hours of our tour. He was also flexible with our family of six and very generous and kind. Seen the city by E bike allowed us to look at many different areas in a short amount of time. The bikes were very easy to use and a nice break from walking everywhere! Would definitely recommend!
Fun way to see Kyoto. Kei was gentle, accomodating, informative, very fun to be with. The biking was easy (e-bikes) despite hills. We had plenty of time to get off and walk around some of the sites. Kei took pictures and even sent us a video that he had created.
Best tour of our trip! Takuma was an amazing guide - he showed us beautiful shrines, Gion, neighborhood and philosophers walk. He was the perfect mix of knowledgeable and friendly. Highly recommend!
Such a great way to see Kyoto in a short time. History, food, and culture plus a great video of us from the guide.
Great your! Takuma was an amazing tour guide. He was knowledgeable about Kyoto history and culture, he took us to the highlights as well as some places we didn’t know about. It was the perfect first day to get our bearings in the city and learn about its amazing culture.
A fun and interesting experience through historic sites, shopping, and some good stops too. Friendly guide and so open to taking us to sites we were interested in.
My boyfriend and I loved our private Kyoto bike ride tour with Kiyoto. He discusses with you what sites you’d like to explore before you leave and makes suggestions. We appreciated being able to customize the experience based on places we wanted to see. He also showed us a few places off the beaten path. I’m terrible about taking photos, so the best part is he takes photos/videos through the journey and creates an instagram reel of the whole experience. It was truly special and now we have the video for the memories! Thanks Kiyoto!
We only had a day to visit Kyoto. Our guide showed lots of different aspects of Kyoto life of today and the past. Fascinating dive into culture, religious, historical and contemporary Kyoto. The bikes were in good order and we stopped frequently to look at temples, markets, shops, and other interesting places.
Had a wonderfully fun time with Yuhey on our ebike tour. Yuhey was knowledgeable and friendly. Ebike was a great way to see the city :)
We did the 5 hour tour. Great pace of sightseeing. It would have been impossible to get around by foot to see everything we were able to. Very comfortable bikes. Highly recommend.
My wife, another couple, and I had a fun and informative bike tour with Yuhey as our guide. His English was very good and he was knowledgeable about the temple and shrine we visited. He also found us a perfect little spot for an afternoon snack. He was super friendly and gave us many helpful recommendations. It was a great way to start our four day visit to Kyoto.
This was one of the highlights of our trip to Japan. There is so much to see in Kyoto, and this was a great way to get around the city. Yuhey was incredibly knowledgeable of the history and culture - but more than that he was fun and super cool and had a great way relating to my teenage son . He brought the city's history alive and made temple hopping enjoyable for a teenager. It doesn't get better than that ! Thanks Yuhey you were great!
The sunrise bike tour with Kiyoto was so much fun! He was an excellent and knowledgeable guide and showed us so many hidden gems in Kyoto away from the crowded areas that we never would have found otherwise. Highly recommend!
Flexible and customizable tour. Ideal way to see a lot of the city highlights Yonnie made it so enjoyable with lots of history, info on local customs and life in Japan
Yonnie our guide for the day was exceptional. She customized the tour to our interests and was flexible along the way. She made reservations for us at a wonderful restaurant for lunch and everything was timed perfectly.
The tour was amaizing! Our guide, Kiyoto, showed us all the amazing spots and hidden places of the city. He didn’t just teach us more about Kyoto, but also about the japanese culture in general. He knew every place and can could answer all our questions. I would definitely recommend this tour to anyone and it really makes your stay in Kyoto so much better!
Kiyoto and Kento were able to tailor the bike ride to locations we had not visited yet and to locations that were within the neighborhood giving us a better appreciation of life in Japan.
Excellent tour! Excellent guide! Well planned and organised. Learned a lot about Kyoto and Japanese history and culture.
Absolutely fantastic. I was not expecting it to be so good. Here's how it went... - Approachable: The guide and her trainee met us at the bike shop, adjusted the bikes for us and told us how they worked (super easy to use electric bike) - Affordable: We had a 5 hour trip, and was taken to many temples and beautiful sites that were free to enter, we had several free drinks and snacks from local stores too - Atmosphere: The guide was very knowledgeable and had great English! We had a laugh, and talked about all sorts of things. The trainee that came along knew a lot about history and was good company. It felt like a bike ride with friends.
We had an amazing day with our guide Yuhey. Flexible with our schedule and explored many parts of Kyoto. Yuhey was engaging with our kids and made sure we all had a great day. Highly recommend this tour and Yuhey as a guide.
We had a great time with Yuhey cycling around Kyoto. Early start but definitelly worthwhile to beat the crowds! He was amazing, suggesting spots to go and places to rest and have a local bite. Thanks Yuhey!
We had a fantastic day with Yuhey. His local knowledge and flexibility with the schedule made sure we explored as much of Kyoto as possible while also learning about local Japanese culture. Was great with our with our 3 kids who also had an amazing day. Would definitely recommend this tour and a day with Yuhey.
This was our favorite part of our trip to Kyoto! Our guide Mana was so sweet and provided a lot of information about local culture and history. She took us to so many parts of the city that were beautiful and we would not have seen otherwise, it felt like we saw the “real” Kyoto. She also took pictures of us with a high quality camera she brought, so we have some nice memories. Highly recommend doing this tour!
