The tour was a unique and unforgettable experience, the very special high point of our whole two week trip to Japan. As a custom private tour with our own experienced and professional guide Yuki and very special driver Yusuke, we were in very good hands. The vehicle was comfortable, clean, and easier to get in and get out of at stops through-out the day. That was very important as I use walking sticks for support with osteoarthritis of the knees. Yuki was so kind as to help undo and retie the boot laces ea h time I needed to take off and put on footwear at temples and National Heritage sites. All the sites were well-chosen and the best in Kyoto oa very wide possible selection. There was no way we could have seen them all by ourselves even in several days? Let alone just one. Each time as necessary, Yuki and Yusuke warned us of steps and steep climbs or descents. Yuki was always there to look out for us and prevent a fall or support me on unstable ground. She is a pleasant, very knowledgeable and thorough guide, very fluent in English. Yusuke got us through very narrow streets and even advised on other trips we planned.

We had a wonderful day cramming in a whole host of landmarks and scenic parts of Kyoto. From the outset Yuki, our guide, had a well-prepared and presentable itinerary for us to maximise our time and we kicked off with the most impressive Nijo-Jo. Despite the heat Yuki ensured throughout the day we kept a manageable pace, saw as much as possible and learned so much about each iconic place we visited. She was excellent. Our driver was also excellent ensuring we got to each and every monument throughout the day even when we had taken extra time to visit a few shops! If you are looking to maximise a short time in Kyoto, please use magical trip’s One Day UNESCO tour. It’s an incredible experience and worth it.
What an incredible tour! We were initially slightly worried about the price as it wasn’t what we were considering for our budget, but we are SO glad we chose this experience. It was well worth the cost. You get to see several key Kyoto sights that would have taken multiple days if you tried to do it on your own. Plus in the July heat, you have the wonderful comfort of a private van getting you from place to place. The cherry on top of this tour, though, is the guide. We had Kana as our tour guide and she made the experience truly once in a lifetime. She gave us so much background on each location, answered all of our questions, took several photos, reserved a delicious and special restaurant experience, hurried to get all of our tickets before other groups, ensured we always had time to stop for souvenirs, drinks, etc. and treated us to a nice, cold snack. Thanks to her, I tried matcha for the first time! It was a much-needed, peaceful day after our packed vacation itinerary. We are so thankful for Kana and the amazing day we just had in Kyoto. We will remember this day for years to come.
We are a dad with teenage son visiting for the first time Kyoto. We had an amazing Kyoto private tour that truly exceeded our expectations. Everything was seamless thanks to Jack, our professional and smooth driver, who made getting around effortless. The highlight was our guide, Mary—fun, friendly, and incredibly knowledgeable, she brought Kyoto’s history and culture to life in such an engaging and personal way. Her energy and warmth made the experience feel special from start to finish. Highly recommended for anyone wanting a stress-free and memorable way to explore Kyoto.

The best day of our trip to Japan so far! Jimmy was an incredible guide, adapting our trip based on weather and my grandmother’s mobility challenges.
Meri has the Japanese spirit you want from a guide. She is fun and someone you will be happy to spend the day with. Highly recommend
Today our quide was Jimmy. He was very pleasant and happy person. Very informative and knowledgeable of our tour destinations . Had a great day .
Yuki was a great guide and very knowledgeable about the sites we visited. It was a super fun day and we made a new friend. I would highly recommend this tour as it would be almost impossible to see it all on your own.
We had a wonderful day with our amazing guide, Jimmy, and the most wonderful and skilled driver, who made manoeuvring through Kyoto’s small streets look easy. Navigating the crowds can be overwhelming, but Jimmy was a master of logistics, leading us through all of the hidden paths and directing us to the best photo spots. The highlight of our day was a truly special moment he arranged: ringing the temple bell at Kinkaku-ji Temple. For just 200 yen, we got to experience a beautiful local tradition that we never would have known was accessible to us without his guidance. He even made sure we didn’t miss out when I’d left my wallet in the car! From finding the perfect lunch spot to capturing incredible photos and recommending the perfect place to purchase matcha, Jimmy took all the stress out of the day and went above and beyond. We saw more in one day than we ever could have alone, and it never felt rushed. Jimmy provided a seamless, meaningful, and authentic Japanese experience, sprinkled with lots of banter and laughter. Highly recommended!
Meri was amazing. She was very informative when it came to local historical information. She found us a great Ramen place for lunch. Would highly recommend to anyone interested in a guided tour.
Meri and our driver yamashida were extraordinary. Meri speaks English so well!! She made our tour easy and efficient with a great pace. We are honored to have had a tour with her.
Josh and our driver were very friendly, knowledgeable, and accommodating to what we wanted to see and do.
My friends and I had a very good experience with our tour guide Meri! She was very friendly and taught us a lot about Japanese culture. It was great to see all the highlights of Kyoto throughout the day and it made for a very interesting and fun experience. I would definitely recommend this if travellers would like to have a quick visit and tour of Kyoto on their trip.
Mari was a great guide. She took us to many amazing spots that my mates and I would have never been able to find or access in such a short time frame. She gave very good information of the shrines and building history’s. She also took us to a very good ramen spot.
We spent our day with our tour guide Meri. She was amazing, made every stop worth the while and made all Japanese historical sites very digestible and understandable for a 1 day tour.
Had a great time, Meri was a fantastic host, knowledgable and fun. Got to see all the places we wanted in one day. Seamless with tickets and lunch, easy to follow the itinerary.
Booked the tour to see more of Kyoto in a shorter amount of time, our guide Meri was great, made for a very memorable day as well as informative.
Me and my group of friends spent the day with Meri getting an absolutely amazing tour experience! The tour was perfect and having the private driver of Mr. Yamashita made it a stress-free experience. Meri was so fun with our group, and she is such a genuine and great spirit. I would highly recommend this tour - perfect way to see highlights of Kyoto in a day. See you again soon Meri and team!
Meri was very knowledgeable and gracious. We toured through a wide variety of historical sites and ate some great sushi
Meri was a fantastic tour guide and I recommend anyone wanting to tour Kyoto to request her. The locations and her enthusiasm both made the day a great time for our whole group!
Meri is the best tour guide! She is very kind and knowledgeable.
Amazing tour with Meri! She was the best. We saw so much and had so much fun!
Meri was amazing! Very knowledgeable and extremely friendly. I would recommend her to anyone coming to Tokyo.
The Kyoto cultural tour was brought to life by our guide Meri. Her expert knowledge gave us great understanding of the sites and she was able to point out hidden gems which we would have never found on our own. The tour included a very comfortable vehicle and expert driver, all entrance fees were included, and we enjoyed a range of treats of Kyoto as part of the tour. We chose sushi for lunch which was delicious. I highly recommend this full day tour.
Our tour guide, Mari, was fun, knowledgeable, flexible & easy to chat with. Our driver Kyomi was highly competent. We had a fantastic day in Kyoto. We saw Temples, gardens, shrines, pagodas, the Geisha district. We felt as though we saw what we wanted to see in Kyoto on day 1.
Meri, our guide was amazing. Full of local knowledge and fun to be with. The tour was perfectly paced with breaks when needed and a perfect lunch stop.
We had an excellent day with our guide Meri. We visited the top sites in Kyoto in a very comfortable vehicle and our driver was great at making sure we got exactly where we needed to be. Meri gave us lots of information about the places we visited and all the historical background. She was also great at answering our questions on Japanese life and culture. It was absolutely the best way to make the most of our time in Kyoto. I would definitely recommend this tour
The tour was well beyond my expectations! Well organized, informative and so enjoyable because of friendly well informed guidance by Marie and safe driving by Mr Hashimoto.
We couldn’t have asked for a better tour guide (and driver). Meri Nakajima was well versed on every UNESCO site we visited. And cudos to our driver Mr. Yamashita. He was excellent as well. I would do this tour again if ever I return to Kyoto.
Meri was an excellent guide with a delightful personality. Her brightness throughout her storytelling and factual information made the tour informative and fun. Yamashita san at the wheel of our van was exceptional. Skilled driving and extremely professional approach made us feel safe and got us where we were going very quickly
I believe that this tour is the best experience of my two weeks in Japan. Very complete and informative. We had a party of five people and considering the crowds at the major sites it moved very smoothly. Our tour guide Mari was excellent and went above and beyond to give everything we needed to learn and enjoy. Our driver Yamashita-san was excellent navigating a passenger van around tight streets in big crowds.
Today we had a private guided tour of Kyoto. We had limited time and so this was the perfect option. Our driver was absolutely amazing. Meri, our was exceptionally knowledgeable, kind, and just an absolute pleasure to be around. She was able to change the itinerary slightly on the fly to help us find some lacquer pieces. My father was looking for. The company was also great at communicating prior to the tour.
Josh and Yamashita did a wonderful job of looking after us. We Yamashita as a driver in Oscar as well. He supplied a wheelchair for the day for my wife. When we went to the Sento Imperial Palace we had discussed limiting the visit because of the loose gravel. (This was the worst location for this, making the wheelchair hard to move even when pulled along.) Thankfully we were able to borrow an electric wheelchair from the site. This allowed us to see the whole site. We were able to tailor the tour to fit our capabilities. Because of their knowledge of the area, I was amazed what we got to see in the day. I later went back to the Torrii Gates early the following morning to try and beat the crowds.
We were 2 couples on our first trip to Japan and this tour was money well spent! Our guide was Hikari and she is a real treasure, a wealth of information, and spoke English well. She was a great historian and offered a lot of information that we wouldn't have learned without having a private guide. The driver was Mr. Yamashta and he was extremely professional, we were picked up and dropped off directly at our accommodation. Having a private driver and guide gave us the opportunity to cover a lot of ground in 9 hours. Our guide and driver were well organized saving a lot of time to allow for many things. We were even able to make an additional stop that wasn't included on the itinerary to a little hidden gem because we were so efficient with our time. Hikari took us to a lovely soba restaurant for lunch and even did the ordering for us. The admissions, lunch, driver, and guide are all included in the price. Hikari also took over 100 pictures of us with her phone and air dropped them to me at the end of the tour. I certainly didn't expect personal photography services to be included, what a nice surprise! We felt that there was tremendous value in this tour and would recommend it to everyone. If you have the good fortune of getting Hikari and Mr. Yamashta you won't be disappointed. Thank you for our best day in Kyoto and being one of the most memorable parts of our vacation to Japan!
Our guide Hikari was amazing. We learned so many things and she made sure everything was well taken care of. Our driver Mr. Yamaha was so professional and very friendly. Thank you for the wonderful experience.
We had a wonderful all day tour in Kyoto. Josh was our guide, and he was fantastic, an interesting person and a great guide. We had visited a few sites before the tour and Josh and the driver customized for us on the fly so we didn’t visit the same place more than once. We also had a wonderful soba lunch. A truly great experience. Thank you, Josh!
This was my first time to ride in a private car. I was very impressed by the drivers knowledge to travel the city quickly while also catch great views along the way. As this included sites at all the furthest reaches of Kyoto, I would expect the itinerary to take 3 days, but we made it to each location with plenty of time to learn and enjoy. I've been on several tours, and this guide company really demonstrates their expertise in planning. The day also rained, but there was no issue to see some covered sites or ride in the car during those time. Really flexible.
Meli was our guide and we were very satisfied with the service. The places we visited are the best. The driver and the car were first-class
