Itinerary
Experience the traditional Japanese art of Kintsugi in a quiet workshop near Gion and Kawaramachi in Kyoto. In this hands-on experience, you will repair cracked or chipped ceramic pieces using lacquer and gold powder, transforming broken pottery into something beautiful and unique. With guidance from an experienced instructor, you will carefully work on bowls or plates while learning the basic techniques of Kintsugi. Rather than hiding imperfections, this traditional method celebrates them as part of an object’s history and character. During the workshop, you will also learn about the history of Kintsugi and the Japanese philosophy that values imperfection and mindfulness. Your finished piece will become a one-of-a-kind souvenir and a meaningful reminder of your time in Kyoto, offering a calm and authentic introduction to Japanese culture.

It was a great experience, the guys were wonderful teachers, I would love to do more pieces!
A very interesting and informative experience. Strongly recommend to anyone interested in Japanese philosophy and working with ceramic
We had a blast trying our hand at kintsugi! We wondered beforehand if we would get to break our own plates first- and the answer is yes! Our teacher, Art, guided us through the process and was so fun to hang out and chat with! We talked the whole time and she told us all about life in Kyoto and made it a super memorable experience. Go try it out!
Great experience! Highly recommend! Our guide, Luna, was very helpful and patient. Got to have great conversations with our group as we all worked together.
What afabulous experience. I could stay here all day! As a tour guide this experience is amazing for your guests!!! Jill xx
We had a wonderful time learning a new skill. We plan on using it to fix some broken pottery at home.
Amazing experience So much fun and unique

We had a wonderful experience with the kintsugi workshop. Reo was so kind, patient, and informative, and an all-around excellent guide to our experience.
Truly Lovely experience! Informative and felt really unique. Staff were great. Very helpful and friendly!
Jeff was very polite, helpful and informative. I felt reassured that it was within my ability do this craft. Thank you
The experience was great, very entertaining. The guide Lilyka was super nice and explained everything very well!
Fun & easy. Anyone can do it and you leave with a souvenir. Small studio and choices on upgrading to larger pieces
Great way to spend an afternoon learning about the culture and activities of Japan. Highly recommend!
We had a great time at the Kintsugi workshop. The instructor was very friendly, helpful and fun to work with. The session was flexible giving us the time we needed for the process. The workshop was affordable and we’d definitely recommend it.
Great activity! Nice souvenir from Japan. I recommend
Very fun and interactive. Had a great time and a beautiful pottery to take home!
Walked in off the street and had an incredibly mindful time learning about Kintsugi, the philosophy of wabi-sabi, and creating beautiful broken crockery. We were lucky with the walk-in but I'd imagine bookings are recommended most days. Highly recommend.
Had a great experience at this workshop. Yunia explained the whole process wonderfully, taking us through the history of Kintsugi and being very patient with all of our questions.
What a wonderful experience, my husband and I had at the Kintsugi workshop! Yuina was a wonderful instructor and was very patient with our entire table! I highly recommend this experience!!
Great experience, really enjoy it
Lovely experience and I loved my final plate! Great wee reminder of ancient culture, good support with staff
Great hands on experience. Recommended!
been here with my friends and we had so much fun !! it really is a funny and alternative activity to do and if you need some relax, you should try it! the ladies who helped us are also very kind !! we loved it !
Very interesting and funny experience
Great guide and a really nice experience that you can do with your family
The experience is okay, not great. The cost appears low but realistically if you want a decent plate to do, it's more expensive. They didn't give us masks and there's a lot of dust around when you are filing the plates which made us cough. The young lady that was helping us was lovely, but the two older men were not great.
It was a chill and cool experience. It isn’t just painting a gold line on a plate! Had a lovely time. Very nice staff aswell
Awesome experience ,delightful and helpful staff.
Terrific fun breaking the plate then creating perfection aka imperfection! Great teachers
We booked it an hour before. In total we where 6 people with 2 advisors. They both guided and helped us through the process.
Fun class that allows you to experience kintsugi (even if it's a quickened version). Staff is very friendly, kind to foreigners and are very knowledgeable. The staff member who sat with me was very helpful.
It was a fun experience. The instructor is nice and knowledgeable.
Really fun class and provides a start to some.skills on repairing pottery. My friends have a few pieces to fix and this may be fun to do for them.
Sunday was an outstanding guide for the Kintsugi workshop. It was a relaxing afternoon experience, a change of pace from visits to the temples and gardens. Highly recommend.
This is a fun, quick little activity with a great, small souvenir. It’s not as authentic as maybe you would expect, and I would have appreciated a more thorough walk through of the history of the art led by the instructors, but they help with the process, making sure that you’re successful. Otherwise they’re pretty hands-off, if you’re looking to yap with your group and craft a bit!
Our teachers were Tian and Jenny. They were very patient and helpful teachers. Absolutely great for families and friends.
Excellent experience with the whole family. Jenny and Tian were very friendly and great teachers. This is a great activity for those of us while like to do things rather than just look at things.
Tian and Jenny were amazing! They were very informative, attentive, and great instructors! The experience was perfect and exactly what our family was looking for!
Very interactive and fun experience, the hosts made us feel welcomed, asking us questions throughout and checking in. Thank you for explaining the art and working with us throughout.
Great experience, equal parts fun and relaxing!
Was so much fun and more work than expected so the final product really felt great. Would have left with a still broken plate if it wasn’t for Reo who was so kind and helped us all the way through. 10/10
We had such a lovely experience. Reo was a fantastic guide and everyone was so helpful when making our plates. Can’t wait to display them at home!
Great experience- very helpful tutors. Would recommend
