Itinerary
Discover the timeless art of kintsugi in Kyoto, the traditional Japanese technique of repairing broken pottery with lacquer and gold. Rooted in the philosophy of embracing imperfections, kintsugi transforms cracks and fractures into beautiful features, giving each piece a new life and deeper meaning. Using carefully prepared materials, you’ll learn how to repair ceramic pieces step by step, highlighting the cracks with gold-colored finishes to create a one-of-a-kind design. The experience is designed to be accessible for beginners, with clear guidance throughout the process. As you work, you’ll gain insight into the Japanese concept of finding beauty in imperfection and the cultural significance behind preserving rather than discarding broken objects.

Sabbie was a great teacher. We had a great time
Enjoyed the class. Mery, the instructor was very good in leading the class throughout the process. Highly recommend.
Great, you have 1h or so for doing the work, but the free plate is a tiny one, not the one you’ll see on the pictures. The others are a bit expensive like 15$ for a classic plate. But the biggest problem for me is that I only learned afterwards that you actually can’t eat with the plate (the gold-like power contain metals), so you’ll pay it expensively just for decoration. If I knew it before, I would have chosen the classic free tiny plate just for the fun of the craft and a small deco. Maybe it’s written somewhere that you can’t eat with it and I didn’t see it ? Otherwise depending on when you do it during the day, it can be either really calm atmosphere or quiet busy and people talking loudly, so that was a bit surprising. The staff is really nice and eager to help you in any case. I sound a bit dissatisfied, but my girlfriend really enjoyed it so it depends on you :))
It was really nice -- unfortunately my talent was not enough but our guide Mabia helped me out a lot
Learned a new trick to fix all those broken vases and pots at home!
AL did a great job explaining the process, working with out big group, and explaining the history alongside our questions
I did this about two weeks ago and Leyla was an excellent guide, plus everyone was really friendly. My friend and I found it to be one of the best things we did on our trip! Photos of my plate after getting home and washing it off, looks great & the perfect souvenir. You get given a free plain plate but be aware there are a range of other options you can pay extra for, the wave one we did was the most expensive at about 4000 yeh extra.
Al, our instructor was super professional and nice. The workshop was very fun and interesting. We really liked the experience.🌸❤️💫
A realy nice and relaxing experience with super nice people. We loved it here. Thank you! :)
This was such a nice and calming experience. Our guide Arata explained all the different steps and the history of Kintsugi to us very nicely, the workshop was great to follow along and you can take your own Kintsugi work home with you. Overall, an amazing experience :)
The workshop was awesome and Arata did a great job guiding us through the process!
great experience, nice teacher and friendly staff!!
Masami was such an amazing instructor! She explained everything very clearly and gave us the history of Kintsugi. Would highly recommend if you are visiting Kyoto!
Nice experience. Very nice space and kind staff!
Really enjoyable, fun and informative experience. We even got good tips of places to visit in Kyoto. Leyla was a great instructor!
The Kintsugi experience was great! Leyla was awesome as an instructor, walking us through the history and process of kintsugi. Highly recommend!
Natalia was a great host, very helpful, knowledgeable and patient when helping. It was my first time and she made it memorable. Would highly recommend!
Good value for the price. The host was very educational & warm.
Bunon was such an amazing host!! She made the experience wonderful very patience! I can’t wait to do this again when I Visit Japan!!
Bunon was such a great guide and host. I enjoyed the experience and learning about the history of Kintsugi. She was very accommodating and helpful with all our questions and requests! Had a great time :)
Awesome experience with very patient Mabia and Yuhi as we bring out our most artistic skill.
We loved this! Very unique Japan experience. Our guide Alice was very professional and knowledgeable and helpful. Highly recommended. And we get such unique souvenirs home :)
A fantastic and novel and uniquely Japanese experience. Highly recommend. You get a omple white plate provided included in the price but can upgrade if you wish. We chose to spend 1000 yen to get a slightly different plate but the included one is also very nice.
Very fun experience to have in Kyoto where this practice emerged. Sofiia was very friendly and even wrote down our names in Japanese so we could paint it onto our plates.
Very easy to fit in if you have some free time. I booked last minute (15 mins before) and that worked great! I will say it’s a very quick process. Note that the included plate is extremely small. So everyone pays to upgrade the plates. The upgrades range from 1,100 yen to 3,300 yen to be paid once you select your piece. Mabia, the instructor, was great!
This was such a fun time and a great break from the heat. Even if you are not an artist your piece will still come out beautiful
This was an awesome activity! Everyone was so nice and helpful! I really enjoyed learning about the history of Kinsugi.
It’s a great way to experience something different in Kyoto, especially during the summer. Taylor, our instructor, was friendly, fun, and made the whole experience enjoyable. She gave clear, easy-to-follow instructions and guided us through everything with patience, making it a memorable and relaxing activity. I’d highly recommend it to anyone looking for a unique experience in Kyoto!
I had a wonderful time at the workshop. It was a really interesting and enjoyable experience. Taylor gave an excellent introduction to the history behind the craft, which made the workshop even more meaningful. She was knowledgeable, welcoming, and made the whole process easy to follow. I would definitely recommend this workshop to anyone looking for a unique and creative experience.
Taylor was amazing! She was friendly, communicative, and always happy to help. Her positive attitude made the whole experience enjoyable, and she was patient and approachable throughout. I truly appreciated her excellent service and would highly recommend!!!
Meri made the experience very comfortable and fun!!! I was able to be as creative as I wanted and take my time. Not a big crowd so it’s an easy atmosphere with great relaxing therapeutic vibes!!!
Very beautiful experience, we enjoyed the time, the girls that show us the practice are very nice
This experience was very nice
Kelsey was very helpful in showing us how to mend the plates and was super friendly. We had a great time and would definitely recommend this experience.
Kelsey was wonderful. She was a great teacher and a lovely person. It was a lot of fun. Highly recommend it!!!!
Kintsugi is an historical art and my Twin and I had an immersive experience. We are so grateful to have participated in this traditional activity and would repeat it in a heartbeat! The admission fee through GetYourGuide was only $13 CAD per person. The workshop usually takes 1 hour but we overstayed our welcome because vibes don't lie! It is a very popular activity therefore, don't delay in booking your ticket. Each instructor was very knowledgeable in the history of Kintsugi. Thank you Alice (with an é), Alperen, Takumi and Kuo YuChieh. You were all awesome senseis'!!!
It was a fun experience, and good time with my family! Meri was an excellent instructor, we will be back!
My family had a wonderful time at this Kintsugi workshop. Meri was our instructor and great- very patient. I highly recommend signing up for this.
The Kinstugi experience was nothing short of exceptional - a fantastic relaxed atmosphere, ready to muster your strength before a long day of visits or to wind down after it! Sabbie was a fantastic instructor, immensely patient and super-welcoming - the perfect guide for your kinstugi journey! 11/10, acetone will be your friend
Excellent experience! Very hands-on and fabulous, friendly instructors.
Fun, not difficult, nice history explanation. Gui was very patient and kind.
This was a last-minute booking for us when we wound up with a free afternoon, and I'm so glad we did it! My 12-year-old son was not excited at ALL to come but wound up loving it so much that he plans to ask his art teacher to do a unit on kintsugi. Highly recommend, especially if you can work with Saori.
Yuhi was wonderful. Very relaxing and fun.
Momoka was patient and understanding with our group. Fantastic experience!
Momoka was so helpful in the class and really great to work with! As someone who is not the best with crafts, the process was really straightforward and fun. I feel like I made a beautiful piece I can hold onto as a memory of my trip.
Great experience! Very satisfying
Rina is extremely patient and detailed throughout the session. Our session overran yet she remain assuring. Appreciate it. Definitely recommend this session to everyone.
This was a very relaxing and enjoyable experience that I’d highly recommend. Opportunity to take home souvenir which incorporates Japanese tradition and your own personal creativity. Rina provided great advice in an effortless way and was very natural and friendly.
Rina was fabulous! We arrived, picked our broken plates (you can upgrade for better plates if you fancy!) and got to work. Very calming atmosphere, lovely break from the humidity and the busy streets. Highly recommend!
