Itinerary
The Arashiyama Bamboo Forest, Walk the most iconic path of Arashiyama and hear the sound of Japan! Your guide will explain Japanese bamboo’s origin and how it’s related to the invention of lights by Edison.
This temple, located in Arashiyama, is small but a compilation of true Japanese scenery in one place. The serene Japanese garden covered in moss and modest thatched hut surrounded by a bamboo grove and maple trees make tourists want to stay here forever. The guide will give you a story of its origin, the tragic love story of a nan "Gio" in Japanese history.
This small temple is located in the most well-maintained "old-Kyoto-view" area, the northern part of the Arashiyama historical district. The temple is much less crowded than the main area of Arashiyama because of its distance from the station despite its stunning view of countless Buddha statues. The guide will explain its unique history and basic information about Japanese traditions of funerals. (10min Transfer Time + 30min Walk Around)
Kinkakuji Temple, also known as the Golden Pavilion, is a must-see destination in Kyoto. Located in the northern part of the city, it's easily accessible by car, even though the public bus takes about an hour from the main area of Kyoto. The temple's main attraction is the stunning golden pavilion that shimmers in the sunlight and is surrounded by a tranquil pond and meticulously maintained gardens. The pavilion is a prime example of the traditional Japanese Zen style, which emphasizes simplicity and natural beauty despite its gorgeous color. You’ll be guided by a local guide with plenty of knowledge about Zen Buddhism and its influence on Japanese culture. (30 min. Transfer Time - 30 min. Walk Around)
Kifune Shrine is counted as one of the most scenic Shrine with a river in Japan, located in deep mountain area of Kyoto city. It's very famous for the view of the stare way with red cute lanterns gets lit up at evening, attracting from Instagramers to professional photographers from all over the world. You can also test your fortune (おみくじ omikuji) using the holy water fountain at the main building. The holy dragon will show your fortune on your paper once you float it on the sacred fountain
This is the best city view spot of Kyoto, for not just for modern young couples, named after the first Shogun who visited here first about 1500 years ago, and also famous that even the emperor visited here first to build his capital in 794. You can see the whole Kyoto city from western end to the southern end, and even 50 km (35 miles) away Osaka city high-rises so clearly.
The biggest torii gate (red shrine gate) of Kyoto built for Heian Jingu Imperial Shrine. The height is 24.4 meters (80 feet), one of the biggest torii gate in Japan
Experience the 600-year-old street known for Geishas by car! Avoid walking in crowds, and take photos from the car. (Taking pictures of Geishas need their permission)
Fushimi-Inari Shrine is the most popular and iconic tourist attraction in Kyoto, with its famous path of "SenbonTorii" (thousands of gates, but actually it has more than 10,000 gates dedicated now), visited and beloved by Japanese people since 711 A.C. Starting from the giant gates, as the gates get smaller, your ego is believed to get smaller, and you start to feel the unity with nature when you have rounded back to the main shrine. Even while on the way, in the super-spiritual atmosphere, you will meet many unique objects and small shrines to be introduced by the guide leading the way. (60 min Transfer Time + 70 min Walk Around)

We had an amazing time! Being able to see different parts of Kyoto Daiki was amazing! He showed us so many parts that we would’ve never been able to find without him!
The driver tour guide was interesting and knowledgeable. It was a fun day with many sights and as promised hidden gems that we would never have seen on our own. The conversation was interesting and friendly. I highly recommend to get a good feel for Kyoto and the surrounding areas and see the real Kyoto and the sacred and mysterious Kyoto. Excellent tour and highly recommended. I've already booked a second experience with Daiki. English is at native level.
It was a wonderful tour full of interesting sights. Our favourite was definitely the rain temple in the mountains surrounding Kyoto! Daiki was an entertaining guide who provided us lots of information and was very accommodating to our schedule and requests about what to do. Travelling in an air conditioned van was a bonus as well. Would highly recommend booking this tour.
Daiki is a very experienced and knowlegable guide. I had a great day with him going around kyoto despite the rain, and he was able to tailor the tour to my specific interests and needs. Its always a concern booking a tour with someone who you have never met but I can wholeheartedly recomend Daiki for being 100% reliable, with good communication and very flexible. So book with confidence.
We had a wonderful family private tour of Kyoto with Daiki, our tour guide. Daiki showed us not only the popular not to miss areas, but also many “hidden gems”. Definitely recommend this tour!
We learned alot about the history of Japan specifically Kyoto and it's landmark structures - our host is very knowledgeable and personable. We experienced the secret places hidden away from most tourist and did not have to deal with the crowds. We booked the private event and it was comfortable, allowing us to travel at our own pace untethered by the usual large tour groups. Well worth it - will rebook for another tour with him upon return to Japan!
Daiki was an amazing tour guide for our family. He catered the tour to our interests and he had so much knowledge about the history of each place we visited that enhanced our experience greatly. Even the kids were interested!! Daiki has an enthusiasm for everything he shows you and takes you to places most tourists don't go to so it was a great way to avoid lines and see all the main tourist sites in a short trip. Daiki was easily one of the best tour guides we have had and it really was like travelling with a very knowledgeable friend. Highly Highly recommend this tour!!
Daiki is a fabulous guide. He is fun, patient and knowledgeable. We spoke about so many interesting topics during our drive around Kyoto with him- samurai, ninjas, Japanese history, impacts of westernization, why there are no EV cars around, Japanese characters…. It was a fabulous 6 hours and so reasonably priced. We highly recommend! Our teenagers found him really interesting to talk to too- and they were initially not keen to go on tours.
The tour guide was lovely. He was informative, upbeat and nice. The tour itself was great. The locations were beautiful and the guide really went out of his way to make it a perfect experience!
We had such an amazing time on this tour. The guide gave us great commentary throughout. He was engaging, fun and enthusiastic. I can not rate him highly enough. His English was excellent. It's was a lovely tour of Kyoto highlights . He also took us to some nice hidden spots. Being a small tour with only our family of 4, made it extra special.
A most enjoyable and enlightening experience for my wife and self. Daiki made every effort to customize the tour to meet our interests and capabilities. He did not mind making adjustments to accommodate wife’s walking limitations on that day. Within a few minutes he developed a new plan for our tour. His communication is flawless. No need to be concerned about getting a guide who might not understand you. He showed us some of his personal favorites which are found off the beaten path. We saw a few things that most tourists would not find their way to.
My family just had the two tours Kyoto Highlights and Secret, and Osaka and Nara in 1-day tour with Mr. Daiki Fukashi. Daiki is an excellent tour guide. He speaks English fluently and is very knowledgeable, flexible, and easygoing. He was willing to customize the tour itinerary to meet our requests. As an elderly couple, my husband and I deeply appreciated his caring and consideration toward us. The tours became much more enjoyable because of his tremendous effort. We highly recommend Daiki to all our friends and relatives who plan to visit Kyoto and Osaka in the future.
The trip arranged was beautiful. Our guide Daiki gave us the best experience of the trip. He made sure that we not only saw the beautiful views but also understood the significance behind them. All the places listed for our tour were covered well within time. Daiki went out of his way to help us out regarding foods, queries, souvenirs etc. He also made sure we tasted the best Ramen at Kyoto. Daiki-San you Rock ❤️
Daiki was fantastic! His van is comfortable and air conditioned. He is very friendly and easy going. He took us to some amazing spots that we would have never found on our own. He is a very good driver and my son and two teenage boys and I had a wonderful day.
Daiki was an excellent tour guide. He was very knowledgeable and has clearly done.a lot of research in order to provide customers with fun and educational insight into Kyoto. The private tour was comfortable and allowed flexibility that would be impossible in a group tour. Definitely great value! Strongly recommend this service!
We had an amazing day! Daiki was a great guide, friendly and fun. He took us to all the sights and walked around with us which was great. Also found a great solution to including an extra stop without missing out on any of the planned agenda. Getting to see some secret places was a bonus treat. I haven’t included photos of these to avoid spoiling :) Well worth the money!

Daiki was great! He picked us up from our hotel on time and gave us the insider’s tour of Kyoto’s highlights. There were many stops and he worked with our pace - such a wonderful experience. Highly recommend!
Daiki Was the BEST guide, really knowledgeable and took us to the most beautiful places around Kyoto. We went in a super busy period yet he managed to take us to places in the bamboo Forrest and shrines with barely any tourists. We will 100% book with Daiki again, very professional and spoke great English :)
Our tour guide’s name is Daiki Daiki was about 10 minutes late picking us up. The advertised itinerary (8 locations): Rokuon—ji temple (golden temple), Arashiyama Bamboo Grove (didn’t go, too crowded), Tenryu-ji Temple (closed at 4:30pm), Giouji Temple, Otagi Nenbutsu-ji temple (closed at 4:30pm), Arashiyama Takao Parkway (never went but probably drove past and didn’t get pointed out), Fushimi Inari Taisha (too dark to take pictures), and Shogunzuka Seiryuden Temple (closed at 4:30pm). Places we actually visited (5 locations): Rokuon-ji temple, Adashino Nenbutsuji temple, Giou-ji temple, Nishiki Market, and Fushimi Inari Taisha. It was a cold day and rained for the second half of the tour. My group was tired and miserable so we opted not to continue after Fushimi Inari Taisha. Had the weather been nicer, my group probably would have liked to see the city view from the higher mountain top. Pro: 1) Daiki came prepared with umbrellas for each person 2) super nice and talk-a-time 3) we got to see monkeys at the Giou-ji temple 4) clean van for up to 6 passengers + 1 driver 5) never rushed us, but probably should have so we could see everything listed on itinerary. 6) Nishiki market was alternative to visiting the temples that closed at 4:30pm. Cons: 1) didn’t get to see about 50% of the listed itinerary. Not enough time to visit each site throughly 2) very broken English Luckily my group had 2 Japanese speaking friends who would better translate for us what was going on. I chose to give it a 4 star because my group looked like they were having a good time. Lots of laughs and smiles. It was expected of us to pay our own admission tickets and any parking fees that were required. This was also the cheapest tour I could find on Viator. The price definitely represents the quality.
What I like the most is the Arashimaya Bamboo Forest. The operator was knowledgeable about the different sites and was even flexible if you want to viist other sites aside from what is listed in his Itinerary. I will definitely recommend this to my friends in the Philippines.
Our private tour with Daiki Fukashi was a wonderful way to spend the day in Kyoto. He was very easy to communicate with arranging our tour and pick up location. Daiki has such an easy going and friendly personality. It felt very natural to talk to him and ask him questions about Kyoto and beyond. He shared such great information with us about all of the sights we went to, not only was he versed in the history, but he was very knowledgable on the deeper meaning and ritual behind what we were seeing and experiencing. We packed in a lot in the time that we had, including a spectacular view of Kyoto at night. We ended our day just hanging out and having a meal together and getting to know each other better. We would definitely recommend Daiki's tour to anyone who is looking for a catered experience and a deeper look into Kyoto history and culture.
A wonderful way to see the sites in Kyoto. Our tune was limited in Kyoto & this made all the difference. Thanks Daiki.
A very memorable experience! Operator/guide speaks English and was such a safe driver. We were thrilled and grateful that he toured us to the hidden spots - accessible via private cars and known to locals only. We were a family of 4 and this particular tour charges per vehicle and not per person. Very reasonable and extremely convenient! You don’t have to worry about commuting and getting lost. Highly recommended! Likely to sell out so book your Osaka annd Kyoto tours early!
The late afternoon and early evening tour of Kyoto. I am so glad I didn't miss this. It was beautiful and not crowded and our guide was the best!
A amazing experience, saw and experienced places we didn’t even know existed and aside from the exspected crowds at the golden temple nothing was to packed. We especially loved the 1000 gates, going at night made it so much better then we even imagined with way less people
