We had a lovely tour with Yukari learning about geiko culture and how it all started in Kyoto. The tour takes you through Gion and you'll spot lots of teahouses and maybe an actual geiko or a maiko. We particularly appreciated the restaurant recommendations for a bite in Gion 😊

Such an informative and interesting tour about Gion, Geikos/ Meikos and their history. Our guide, Ayumi was bubbly, interactive and clearly very knowledgeable on the topic. I learned so much in these quick 2 hours with her. Would highly recommend- especially at the start of your time in Kyoto so you can get a better understanding/feel of the area.

It’s a good amount of walking, the guide gives you a lot of information of the area and the geisha’s. I wish we could have gone inside the living quarters. I would recommend this experience.
Yuki was a fantastic guide that showed us through the Gion area respectfully and knowledgeably. We got to see numerous geikos and maikos as well as sites that ate precious to them. Great to do on a first night in case you're looking for a local perspective on the city as well as recommendations on how to fill your remaining days.
There were 6 in our group and Manny was an excellent guide to explain the life of the geisha, the history and how the culture has developed over the year. So unique to Japan and he did a great job showing us around the neighbourhood and pointing out some of the secrets of the geisha lifestyle.
Yuki is such a great and friendly guide with 300 years of family history here in Kyoto, he told us plenty of things we didn’t know and answered all of our many questions, we loved the tour and it was a real pleasure to discover Kyoto through his eyes!

He took great care to answer any questions that we had and he told us lots of great stories and facts about the Geisha’s in Gion. It was a fascinating walk around the enchanting streets of Gion in Kyoto - a real highlight on our Japan trip. We did this walk with our two children aged 11 and 14 years and they both enjoyed it.

I booked this as a solo traveler during my first night in Kyoto to get my bearings. Michael was very knowledgeable and engaging which made the tour fun. He made sure to offer if I wanted any pictures taken since I was solo. We walked through the main geisha district and ended at the Yasaka Shrine but didn't go to the pagoda if that's something you're interested in. Definitely would recommend as an intro to Gion!
Deborah provided a stellar tour through Gion and an in depth educational experience! We learned so much and really enjoyed learning all about the Geisha culture. The area was lovely in the evening with the lights. Our tour started at 6, which was perfect for late October. Thank you!
Honestly the information provided was fantastic. We learned about Geikos and Meikos and Geishas. It was so much great information. The only quarrel we had was there was a lot of just standing around but I get why as there are things people want to see. We wish we would have walked the alleys that were Geishas alleys. But. Again the tour was good just wish it was more of seeing them and maybe seeing how the work.
The tour in Spanish of Gion was outstanding. We learnt about the area’s history and the amazing Geisha. Even our four year old loved it! Michael is super friendly and knowledgeable. Our only regret is that we didnt do it sooner in our trip so we could then visit all the restaurants he recommended. Muchas gracias Michael!
Great experience! Very friendly and knowledgeable guide! Learned a lot!

He also did a great job interacting with the tourists and shared some of his own personal experiences which made us all laugh. I would definitely recommend this tour.
Had such a great time on this tour!! Adrian was our guide for the evening, an Australian expat whose lived in Japan for almost 22 years. He made the tour funny, engaging, informative and effortless making even a big group of strangers feel comfortable together. I strongly recommend you see the district at night as it is so different from during the day. 10/10
we thought our guide Melanie did a wonderful job explaining the history of the geisha culture and history. I’m not sure we would have walked through Gion without this tour. So much history and it still present today. We highly recommend!!
