Ryan was welcoming, warm and friendly as he took us around the impressive Fushimi Inari Taisha Shrine and torii gates. He showed us Shinto style prayer (the 2, 2, 1 method) and gave us some great historical context about the fox statues and shrine purposes which we wouldn’t have known otherwise. It was a very enjoyable experience and would definitely recommend Anchor Tours for any English speaking visitors who would like to gain insight from a Japanese local.

Absolutely magical experience! We were visiting Fudhimi Inari Shrine and the surrounding area. The thousands of torii gates at Fushimi Inari are even more stunning when you see them in real life. Walking through the gates felt like stepping into another world. Our guide was knowledgeable and friendly, sharing fascinating stories about the shrine's history and Japanese traditions. We did a tour of Fushimi Inari in Kyoto with Tom. It was really fun and interesting. Not only did Tom show extensive knowledge about everything related to the shrine, but he also told fascinating stories, and it was a pleasure to keep asking him question after question to better understand Japanese culture. Of course, this is also an area where you have to take photos, and Tom kindly offered on his own to photograph us, and he knew exactly where the best spots were. I had been to fushimi-inari before and genuinely had no Idea how much I was missing. We got explanations for so many little details about the whole complex and Japanese culture, which made the experience much more than the surface level you take with you by just walking through everything.
