Amazing experience led by Sora. Different to others I’ve done. Food and drink pairings were spot on and our guide made the night. He was energetic full of knowledge and made everyone feel really comfortable. Highly recommend it.
Sora, our guide, was amazing and gave us tips along the way. The food was delicious and paired with sake which made it an even better experience. Sora was kind, super helpful and spoke great English. The group of 8 made it perfect to not be too big but more intimate like going out with friends. Can’t recommend more! Fantastic experience and a great way to start off your time in Kyoto to get the recommendations.
One of the best food tours I’ve been on! When I tell you we were FULL and everything we tried was absolutely amazing. Our guide was Chika and she was fantastic - super knowledgeable and gave us great recommendations for sake pairings and foods to try. She even gave us a massive list of restaurant recs for the whole Kansai region that she made herself. If you do one food tour in Japan, make it this one!!
We would thoroughly recommend the night time foodie tour. Eika was brilliant, we had amazing food and got great restaurant recommendations. We have revisited one of the restaurants already and had amazing food for a really affordable option. Thank you Eika
Good tour, covered some food I would otherwise not have tried. Vegetable focused restaurant at the end was excellent.
Good guide, lots of variety of food and drinks.
This was such a wonderful experience and she was incredibly helpful throughout everything! All food options were fantastic, nothing out of place, and I was excited for every dish. The walk felt breezy and I loved speaking to everyone. Just an overall awesome time I'd recommend to all
Leandra was truly fantastic!! She is knowledgeable, amiable, patient, and a great communicator. We knew exactly where to go, she never lost anyone (and didnt have to do a roll call at every stop), and she provided both cultural and culinary history along the way!! What more could you ask for!! Oh yea- THE FOOD WAS GREAT TOO!! Lol
Leandra was super friendly and we stopped at some really great places that we will return to another day!
Our guide Eika was FABULOUS!!!
Eika was a fabulous guide. She took us to amazing places where we had delicious food and drink. Her explanations and information was of what we ate and drank was great! I highly recommend this tour to anyone wanting to try some authentic and interesting local Japanese cuisine.
Eika was our food tour guide and she was exceptional. Excellent choice of rest & foods to try out. Best tour we have been so far in Japan. thank you so much for taking such a great care of us & patience. Your choices made our day ! Friendly & accomodating. If you can, book her!
Our guide was incredible very knowledgable and took us to incredible places
We had a great night of delicious traditional Japanese food and different types of sake. Chica was our guide and she did a great job. I would definitely recommend this foodie tour if you’re visiting Kyoto.
Sora was an amazing guide. He was enthusiastic and had everything organized and ready for us at every stop. He shared foods well known in Kyoto. You will not leave this tour hungry. We were stuffed!
The evening was very enjoyable. Our guide Leandra kept everything flowing smoothly. The food quality was very good.
Lovely evening out with our informative and friendly guide- we ate some very interesting and delicious food and drinks - including fish, vegetables, chicken Sake highballs and so much more all in 3 different restaurants - would recommend this social evening. 👍
Our guide, Eiko, was great. The food variety was excellent (and tasty!). Drinks were great too (sake, lemon sours, whiskey); you could order what you wanted at each location. It was also an enriching experience to meet new people and make friends from different walks of life. Highly recommended!
Amazing experience! Top curation and chilling vibe. Eika is a great guide. Im going to recommend this tour for my friends.
My husband and I really enjoyed our food tour with Chikako. The restaurants and drinks were top notch—delicious and generous portions. I think our whole group were completely full by the end of the tour. I particularly enjoyed the sake/food pairings. They made me appreciate the wide variety of sake tastes. Our guide, Chikako, provided excellent cultural background on the food and made the night fun for all. We’ve made use of her restaurant recommendations several times since our tour.
Enjoyed a fantastic night sampling the highlights of the local food culture. I really appreciated the opportunity to taste a wide range of food at places it would be difficult to get into as a solo diner with limited Japanese! Many thanks to Leandra for her impressive breadth of knowledge on local history and culture.
Eika was a great tour guide! She explained every place we went to as well as made sure all our questions were answered.
This was a fantastic food tour - great variety, great to learn about more Kyoto specific foods and sake , Eika was so knowledgable and really lovely - can’t recommend highly enough!
Sky did a fantastic job. Come hungry they provide plenty of food and drinks. Great variety best food tour I’ve been on. Amaz
Fun night with guide Chika and 3 other couples. Walking tour, three restaurants and a bite of tempura in the market. Loved trying various sakes and pairing with food. Lots of food so pace yoursef!
Wow what an amazing 4 hours ours with CHIKA - she was an exceptional host. CHIKA was funny, kind, knowledgable and super friendly. Our group had so much fun and CHIKA was excellent at sharing knowledge about the food and places we ate at, as well as sharing about local foods, customs and about Japan in general. She welcomed everyone on the group and made sure we got to know each other a bit. I would highly recommend this food tour and even more so CHIKA - she was a blast!
Chikako made our tour unforgettable. As we walked, she shared so much about the history of the area, which gave every stop real context and meaning. We also tried so many dishes we never would have ordered on our own, and every one was a highlight. Her warmth and knowledge made the whole experience feel personal rather than touristy. We loved our time with her and would recommend this tour to anyone, especially to anyone who wants to understand a place through its food. Five stars!
We thoroughly enjoyed this tour. Delicious food and drink. Knowledgeable and friendly guide who introduced us to new dishes and beverages.
This food tour was one of the best tours I have been on. We went to three different restaurants along with a few food stalls in the main market. Our tour guide Sora was amazing, very knowledgeable, personal, and fun. He explained what every dish is, how to best enjoy it, and the history behind it. I definitely recommend doing this tour if you want to try a lot of different varieties of the food culture in Kyoto. If doing the night tour eat an early lunch as there are a lot of courses and food options to try!
Ninja food tours came recommended from someone who had this experience earlier in the year. It was very easy to book with good communication before hand, helping to answer queries about dietary requirements. We chose to do a private tour (just my husband and I) and Eika was our tour guide. She instantly put us at ease and guided us from the meeting point to three different eating places. Providing expert and local knowledge on the food and area generally. By the end of the evening it felt like we were out with a new friend, which means we felt relaxed and had the best time. So easy to recommend this trip and Eika specifically. It’s been a real highlight of our first time in Kyoto.
Excellent guide -Yui. Fantastic experience- would not have gone to places she took us
This was an amazing experience. 10/10. We loved our guide, Sora, he was very knowledgeable and kind. We loved the stop choices and food/sake selections, would definitely do this again. Our family was grateful for this experience.
We thoroughly enjoyed our evening with Leandra! Our tour started with 2 tastings in the Nishicki market while Leandra shared the history of the market and Kyoto food culture. We moved on to 3 Izakyas where we were served a variety of unique Japanese specialties (with very generous portions). At each stop we were offered different alcoholic (with non-a alternatives) beverages to accompany the food selections including a tasting of 4 Sakes, Beer, popular Japanese cocktails and Whiskeys. Leandra was very entertaining and it was clear how much she luv’s Japan and the food culture here. The small size of our group (8 ppl) allowed plenty of time for everyone to participate and ask questions. I highly recommend this tour!
Leandra was absolutely wonderful! She brought such great energy to the tour and was incredibly knowledgeable, engaging and attentive to everyone in the group. She had a real knack for getting people talking and making everyone feel comfortable and included. She was also fantastic about accommodating food allergies and making sure everyone had a great experience. Every restaurant we visited was excellent and we loved getting to experience them all! Five stars for sure!!! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ We had such a great time and would definitely do this tour again. Highly recommend Leandra and the Kyoto Foodie Night Tour!!!
We had an amazing food tour with Sora. The food was some of the best we had in Kyoto and Sora explained everything very well. Highly recommend taking this tour on one of the first days in Kyoto as you can get a lot of good recommendations for places to eat during your trip
We LOVED this tour. Chikako, our guide was excellent - knowledgable, great company and so knowledgeable about Japanese food, sake and local restaurants - she was great. We visited several different restaurants / stalls over a 4 hours period and all the food was wonderful. We started at Uoriki at Retro Alley (for Japanese fish n Chips being Hamo Tempura or Pike Conger Eel), Konna Monja (for their soymilk donuts), Yonkura (a Kyoto modern sake-themed Izakaya), Anji Rokkaku (a Seafood & Traditional Dish Izakaya) and finally Futagoya (a Farm to Table style Izakaya). It was great to be able to try many different dishes as well as several sake's - you also get a drink included at each of the restaurant visits. The tour operates as a small group and there were 8 of us including Chikako which worked really well. We enjoyed a couple of the places (Konna Monja & Futagoya) so much we return over the following days We can't recommend this tour and Chikako highly enough - if you only do one tour whilst in Kyoto then do this one.

Great evening with a wonderful group of people. Sora was a fantastic guide - knowledgeable, enthusiastic and timed each stop of the trip perfectly. There was so much food! Sora provided interesting background explanations to each dish/restaurant etc as well as his local recommendations. Would recommend!
An excellent evening of good food, great guide and drink options Suitable for those who don’t drink alcohol as well. Sora was very knowledgeable and answered lots of questions about local good, customs and culture He made sure to chat to all of us and it was a relaxing, fun evening
This was one of the highlights of my time in Kyoto, and my only real regret is that I did it on my last night. There were eight of us and I was the only solo traveler. I'm not usually someone who thrives in group tours, but Sora made it very easy to get involved. He asked where we were from, what we'd been doing, what kinds of tours we liked, and those questions felt like the beginning of an actual conversation rather than tour-guide icebreakers. From there, the conversation went in all sorts of directions, including some decidedly less-normal topics. He was genuinely interesting to talk to and clearly knew his stuff without making it feel like a lecture. By the end, it felt less like I was on a tour and more like someone who actually knows Kyoto was showing me around. We started with Nishiki Market, where we ate things like eel tempura and soy milk donuts, then hit three very different restaurants. A quiet sake-pairing place with small bites, four different sakes and Kobe beef. A packed, fish-focused izakaya. Then a chicken and vegetable farm-to-table restaurant with traditional seating. There was a *lot* of food. I was basically stuffing my face the entire night. I hope Sora didn't starve because of me. The bonito and karaage were standouts, but I also got to try things like fried fish skin and stingray. I already knew quite a bit about Japanese food before this trip and cook some Japanese dishes at home, and by this point I was also two weeks into eating my way around Japan. So I wasn't coming to this tour needing the basics or looking for novelty just for the sake of it. What impressed me was how much Sora still had to teach me. He knew the food, knew the places, and had interesting context for what we were eating that went well beyond a memorized tour script. The funny thing is that Kyoto hadn't really been my vibe before this. I liked parts of it, but I hadn't really connected with the city. Food turned out to be my way in. By the end of the night, I was already thinking about what I'd come back to explore next time. My only complaint is that I did this on my last night. Sora gave us recommendations for places in Kyoto and Osaka that I now won't have time to try. If you're considering the tour, do it early in your stay. You'll get a great night of food, and you'll have time to actually go chase down the recommendations afterward.
Leandra was an absolutely wonderful guide, highly recommend this tour! Visited several izakayas where we ate and drank a ton! Loved trying all the different foods that I would not have tried on my own and especially loved the sake tasting!!! Thank you Leandra!
Sora was amazing! So much fun, so interesting and we had the best time!
Sora was a great guide. So charismatic and and gave us great recommendations.
Leandra was an amazing guide. So knowledgeable, fun, personable and made our food tour memorable. She explained in detail all the food we ate and the alcohol we tasted. And provided us with lots of recommendations. A wonderful evening! Thanks Leandra!
We went on a wonderful food journey through Kyoto with Sora. By the way, he was amazing, his approach was just perfect. A good balance between getting to know you and also giving you the best advice and explanation about what you’re eating and how to enjoy it the best. It’s a tasty adventure I recommend anyone to try, the rest of you’re trip to Japan will be get even better after this. And I do not exaggerate my review, see for yourself ;)
Great tour with a lot of fun and interesting food. Also was a very good tour of Kyoto itself, I felt like we learned a lot. Our tour guide, Sora, was very knowledgeable and fun to talk to. Highly recommend.
We had a wonderful experience on the foodie night in Kyoto and Sora was an excellent guide. We experienced a wide variety of food (definitely enough) and drink, including Macha beer and 4 varieties of Sake. We enjoyed Sashimi, Kobe beef and everything tempura. A nice pace throughout the evening. Definitely worth trying.
Great tour. Great guide !!! Great restaurant Take the tour
