Great relaxing experience that the whole family enjoyed!
Mari was great! she walked us through the painting process and explained the meaning of the Daruma doll! great experience, easy to find location. english friendly!
I had a lot of fun with my friend, we painted with the colours for learning and happiness. We learned about the history and significance of the Daruma. How when you fall 7 times, you get back up 8 times, being as resilient to falling/failing as the Daruma. Relaxing Studio ghibli music played in the background while my friend and I chatted and painted away. Whenever we needed anything the owner and employee were quick to help us or get what we needed. It was 4000¥ per person when we went and you get all the material there along with some inspo and tea ☕. Definitely feeling like I got to be creative, relax, plus I walked away with a little bit more knowledge. I hope my wishes from the Daruma come true, otherwise I have a little buddy from the experience hehe.
A very cozy and comfortable experience! I went with my friend and Itsuki was our host; she was very kind and helpful, and provided us with a bit of cultural history behind the Daruma and was quick to assist if we were lacking supplies.
Stopped by when walking in the area, super cute shop with many different options to create your own lucky Daruma
Time flies when you’re having fun. Nina was generous with her time allowing us to stay a little longer to finish our over ambitious projects. A fun way to spend time in Kyoto, and you create a unique souvenir.
They were so amazing. I would book again so much fun love the experience. Mari, and tsuki were the best they made the experience ten times better
Very fun experience with friends, one of us came late and they didn’t mind at all, very kind and try to accommodate most things
Really fun. I'm not too good at art but it was a lot of fun to paint. Guide was very friendly and helpful. They are very welcoming. Would absolutely recommend.
Fuu is the best. She explained everything with patience and even gave me a little introduction of calligraphy. 100% recommended.
Walked in from the street, wanted to have our very own daruma. Fuu was the best - and most patient en engaged instructor - you could imagine. Full recommendation from here.
We are a family of 4, and our kids are 8 and 6. We all had a really amazing time and got to learn about Japanese culture. The host was amazing and it is friendly to English speakers. Highly recommend this experience. It was also a nice break from just shopping (there is a lot of shopping in Kyoto) and just getting to sit and experience Japanese culture
The Daruma workshop was such a special experience. We learned about the fascinating history and symbolism behind Daruma, which made the creative process even more meaningful. The atmosphere was warm and inspiring, and it was wonderful to design and paint our own Daruma while sharing stories and ideas. What made the workshop even more memorable was the conversation, chatting about Japan, Italy, and travel experiences created such a friendly and personal connection. It felt much more than just an art workshop; it was a beautiful cultural exchange. Highly recommended for anyone looking for creativity, inspiration, and meaningful conversation.
We had a great day with Mari! Great to have souvenir that we made ourselves
This experience was wonderful and I recommend it to anyone who wants to make a perfectly perfect souvenir for themselves, with a Japanese flavour that you shouldn't miss. Also, the worker who guided me through it, Mari, made everything better and she was absolutely lovely.
Painting a daruma in Kyoto was a surprisingly meaningful experience. The simple art activity quickly turned into something more reflective, especially learning about the tradition of setting a goal and the rich history of the daruma. Definitely worth a trip to kyoto just for this
Great experience! Cool setting, cultural and artistic experience!
I had a wonderful time talking with the staff and making my daruma. They offer a variety of colors and decorations for the experience. It’s truly a creative event that is fun even if you are alone or with friends/family. The staff are very nice to talk to and they even provide ideas if there’s any difficulty in thinking of what to make. The darumas have three sizes and I chose the small one, I’d love to have another visit and make a larger one in the future. Thank you for the wonderful time.
We had such a fun time! It was a fun relaxing activity, but Mari was the best part. She made us origami and gave us recommendations of places to go! She was very very the sweetest! & it was so lovely to spend time just talking with her!
The atmosphere was super cool. A traditional Japanese home in a secluded alley way. The entrance was easy to find, with a sign on the Main Street guiding us. The environment was very relaxed with music and an amazing host! Mari was amazing and so funny!!!! A truly great time and the DARUMA process and painting went very well. Highly recommend!!!!!
Really great place! The staff are so friendly and nice and great to talk to. This place is in a really nice and quiet street of Kyoto and it’s so beautiful and old. The building is a traditional Japanese house and it’s really amazing to go in and experience and spend an afternoon here. Not to mention you get a great personal and unique souvenir to take home that has a lot of culture behind it. I highly recommend coming here and enjoying the warm and cozy vibe on a nice afternoon to get away from the crowds in Kyoto’
Really fun spot to go in Kyoto! I would recommend to anyone who wants a special and unique souvenir from Japan with a personal touch. Not to mention the beautiful and quite Kyoto street! The building is very traditional and it’s a really cozy and warm place to spend your time especially on a really hot day. You can relax and take your time and enjoy talking to the super nice staff members!
Had a great time painting darumas with Marie. She was very patient and proactive. My 10 and 12 year old daughters really enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere and exchanging with her!
Superb experience ! Easy and comfortable ! Good quality equipments Friendly & English speaking ! Had a great time & fun
Super unique workshop. Love that you get to go home with a one of a kind souvenir.
It was fun and easy. I really enjoyed it.
It was a good experience! I had a good time here making darunma! It was a little bit difficult to write Chinese characters on it.
The whole experience was great. Although being Japanese, I had a lot fun. Travelers from abroad will surely like this experience!
I had the most amazing time. Met some absolute lovely people. The host is very nice, kind and helpful. Great experience!!
It was nice to discovering this part of the Japanese culture. The hosts were super friendly and make you feel confortable. All the experience was great ! Thank you for this day !
I really had a fun time! The host was very nice and kind, and the event was also well organized. I would definitely book another session.
Had a great 90 mins learning about and painting our own personal Daruma. Staff are welcoming and helpful. They are happy to help you with your design and writing Kanji symbols on your Daruma.
The helpful and friendly host welcomed us. We had a lovely time decorating our Daruma and learning about its purpose and meaning culturally. It is in a lovely and traditional intimate setting and has a great relaxed vibe. If you are looking for something unique to do, this is a must try! I highly recommend it.
It has been a very fun and at the same time relaxing experience. Itsuki has been a great host.
They let me paint whatever I want. They're very descriptive. We had a really good time.
I created my original Dharma with your prayers! As you paint, you gradually become attached to it lol It was an interesting experience to make one Dharma in the world.
There are many parts and colors, and I was excited to see what kind of daruma it would be!
Unique experience, beautiful colors. We were there as a family, it was wonderful even for our children 10 and 14 years.
It was fun to be able to make original Dharma with various colors and such
It was my first experience making Daruma dolls and I really enjoyed it. May your wish come true.
It was more difficult than I thought, but I really enjoyed it 😊 It’s interesting to see a completely different Daruma doll depending on color and facial balance! It was a good memory and is recommended ◎
It was an opportunity to not only draw with Daruma but also to realize and learn about the background of Daruma and the Japanese culture. Thank you very much. I would love to participate again.
I found out about it on Instagram and went to experience making Dharma! I’m not good at this kind of design or art, but I was pretty enthusiastic about it, being able to spray paint and paint faces as I wanted! I really like my one and only Dharma in the world! The owner was also a very nice person!
This time I went with my wife and children. The experience room was also a very atmospheric room that made me feel like Kyoto, and my wife and children were able to relax and experience Dharma. It can be used for spray, paint, magic pen and many other things, and it can be enjoyed by both children and adults. The hour and a half was exquisite, and I was quite glad that I had more time because I could relax while talking. I definitely had memorable memories, so I highly recommend coming with family and friends of course! I'd love to go again!!!
