Itinerary
Kinkaku-ji (Golden Pavilion)is a Zen Buddhist temple in Kyoto, Japan. A breathtaking UNESCO World Heritage site renowned for its dazzling golden exterior and serene gardens. The name Golden Pavilion is derived from the gold leaf that the pavilion is covered in. The gold employed was intended to mitigate and purify any pollution or negative thoughts and feelings toward death. The Golden Pavilion is a three-story building on the grounds of the Rokuon-ji temple complex. Each floor has a different architectural style. The pavilion successfully incorporates three distinct styles of architecture, which are shinden, samurai, and zen.
Kiyomizudera is one of Japan's most celebrated temples, recognized as part of the Historic Monuments of Ancient Kyoto UNESCO World Heritage Site. It was founded in 780 on the site of the Otowa Waterfall, located in the wooded hills east of Kyoto, from which it derives its name. The temple is particularly famous for its wooden stage that extends from the main hall, standing 13 meters above the hillside. This stage offers stunning views of the numerous cherry and maple trees below, which explode in vibrant colors during the spring and fall, as well as of the city of Kyoto in the distance. The main hall, along with the stage, was constructed without the use of nails and houses the temple's primary object of worship, a small statue of the eleven-faced, thousand-armed Kannon.
Ninenzaka and Sannenzaka have thrived since ancient times, allowing visitors to fully immerse themselves in the atmosphere of Kyoto. These sloping streets are lined with historic Japanese-style buildings that are characteristic of the city. Along the way, you'll find a variety of shops, including souvenir stores, shops selling various Japanese products, sweet shops, and restaurants.
Yasaka Koshindo, officially known as Daikokusan Kongoji Temple Koshindo, is a fascinating place to stop by on your way to Ichinenzaka. The temple is adorned with colorful and eye-catching“monkeys”, the monkey is considered a godly messenger, and there are three kinds of monkeys – “see no evil, say no evil, hear no evil” – seen everywhere, including the main hall. Visitors can write their wishes, along with the date and their name on a "monkey" painted in their favorite color.
The Uji River is the only river that originates from Lake Biwa, the largest lake in Japan. It has served as an important waterway connecting Shiga and Osaka since ancient times. The river flows through Uji, dividing the city into two parts and serving as a central focal point, with most shops and restaurants located along its banks. Uji Bridge, the main passage over the river, is considered one of the three oldest bridges in the country.
Byodo-in Temple is one of Japan's best-preserved national treasures and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The most iconic structure within the temple is the Phoenix Hall, which features wing-like corridors on either side of the central hall, resembling a phoenix spreading its wings, selected for the design as the obverse of the 10 yen coin.
Uji is renowned for its green tea production, and this charming street is lined with shops selling a variety of tea and tea-related products. It is a must-visit destination for anyone traveling to Uji, as it showcases Japan’s rich tea heritage and provides a glimpse into its fascinating history. As you stroll down the cobblestone path, the air is filled with the enticing aroma of freshly roasted tea leaves. Here you can try tea-flavored “dango” dumplings, noodles, ice creams, and donuts. Take your time to wander through the souvenir shops and eateries. At the end of the street, you will find a Starbucks that serves its popular Matcha Frappé.

Entertaining and great photographer guide Jun! We went to multiple UNESCO sites in Uji and Kyoto. Tour was very punctual which we appreciated.
The tour guide was insightful and friendly. The tour struck a good balance between guided portions and exploring on your own.
The meeting point was easy to find. The bus ride to Kyoto was a little over an hour. I feel like we had plenty of time at each stop. There were plenty of free bathrooms at each location. We had enough time on the second stop for food and souvenir shopping. Our guide spoke Chinese and English. He was very knowledgeable and sent us clear instructions on WhatsApp. Overall we had a great day!
Amanda was great! She constantly communicated with us and explained all the stops. She also helped us take pictures during our tour. Bus driver and transportation was great!
My husband and I did the Osaka to Kyoto & Uji full day tour. Our guide was Jun. He was great. Very polite and informative. Very relaxed tour with no rushing.
The day was full of things to see. There is lots of walking and stairs to go up and down. Jun our tour guide was great. He explained everything well and in English.
Jun was an amazing guide for our tour of Kyoto and Uji. He was very knowledgeable, courteous and enthusiastic.
Very disappointed as I could not find the appointed guide at the designated meeting point which was in photograph sent with confirmation of booking. I was at meeting point for one hour from 08.30. I spoke to all guides with about 7 or 8 groups gathering all at the same place. Twice I walked past the parked coaches but no one was there from F Trip nor recognised the tour name. Plus I was advised that on evening of 4 May I would be sent email. No email. So, if meeting point was changed at very last moment I was not aware. Have emailed your EMMA 3 times about this. No reply yet. Plus I did all I could to locate the guide.
Is a real good experience Cicy was very nice, talented and knowledgeable. We highly recommend, we learned a lot on this tour
Jun was a wonderful guide. Very knowledgeable on the many locations we went to. He was very precise with all instructions and we always felt well informed.
Kyoto is a lovely place. Jun was able to show us the specific places quite well, giving a bit of the history. His suggestions on what to focus on was good. It will be nice to see him speak English little more fluently. But overall it’s a fantastic experience.
Enjoyable, comfortable and knowledgeable with a nice bit of humor. My son and I had a wonderful time learning and getting in 14,000 steps. 😊
We spent a bit too long on the road and we did not feel like we learned much. If possible, consider skipping the Kyoto meeting point to save time.
Very rushed tour. Started late as the bus comes from Osaka. Tour was bilingual, look for a tour only in English.
The tour guide was very assisting and helpful to his tourists. Very informative. Friendly and organized This tour has sufficient time to explore the visited spots
Tracy has been great, his instructions on where to go and when to return were clear, and provided very helpful information on the local Japanese history and culture which gave a good perspective of the historical places. The bus driver was courteous, the two of them are a good team. Would recommend this tour.
A great time with Cave seeing Kyoto and Uji. We had a wonderful time on our tour seeing the Golden Pavilion, the main temple in Kyoto and through the small town in Uji. Cave gave great tips and we had a wonderful time on the tour.
Tour guide (John) spoke in three languages - English, Mandarin and Japanese. He was insightful and clearly explained meeting check-in/return times. He provided meet up details and area maps via WhatsApp. The so-so: the bus driver did not turn on heat and broke hard during the commute. Most people had to keep their jackets on. Each stop required admission fees that were not included in the package. Lastly, one of our family members fell and got badly bruised because there was no warning of low clearance obstacles in the walking path. The tour guide was empathetic and helpful, but this could have been avoided if he had slowed down in moving the tight packs of tourist/clients and warned us of the low obstacles instead of walking us directly over them. Our tour guide mentioned that other tour groups experienced similar falls and that we were not the only ones to have gotten injured. More reason for the tour guide to slow down the walking pace. One guide for a 40+ group of clients is unreasonable, but cannot blame the tour guide on company policy. Overall got to see some wonderful sights but the injury put a damper on this tour experience
This is a good way to see popular parts of Kyoto and Uji in a short amount of time. The transportation was comfortable and our guide was friendly and knowledgeable. We stopped at two cities and three main attractions, which was more than enough. You’re on your own at the sites, which I really liked. It is a long day, so plan accordingly. The spots you visit are major tourist destinations, so keep that in mind as well.
Since we only had one day to visit Kyoto this tour was perfect for us. We got to see a lot more in one day than we would have on our own. We also liked the fact that we were given plenty of time at each destination to explore on our own.

She made sure everyone in the group understood the instructions and tour details. It’s amazing that she can speak 3 languages. #1 tour guide by far!
Naomi is very accomodating, informative, approachable, on time. Thank you for the experience. Glad to have her as our tour guide. Till next time
Miss Naomi was very warm, funny, and helpful! I was very worried about the trip but she called so I can be sure where to look for her in the pickup point and throughout the trip, she makes sure we understand, and she reminds us well of when to get back. She was also easy to talk to. Arigatou gozaimasu!

Date: 24 November 25 Tour Guide: Naomi Enjoyed beautiful sights with my family at Kyoto and Uji areas. The tour guide Naomi was very friendly and helpful, providing us with useful information of the sightseeing locations and recommendations for lunch around the Kiyomizudera area. My family had a good time.
It was a fun trip! I went alone for the first time and my experience isn't bad. Miss Naomi is very friendly and accommodating and she did her very best to guide us on the tour. She gave us important informations about the places we were about to go and which restaurant offer the type of food that we would like to eat. She is nicer than the other tour guides that I met. She even took pictures of the tour participants. The places are also beyond expectation

Naomi was our tour guide during our Kyoto Uji tour. She is very helpful during our trip, providing us details for every location in our trip. She is also very cheerful throughout our tour. It was a memorable and fun experience with her. Highly recommended!
Beautiful & very loving experience with the day tour on Kyoto temples. Our guide Amanda was good & made the tour well organized. Only thing to say in the end of the tour after visiting temples, making the people for long distance walk to get on the bus as unnecessary. Other than that all good. Thank you.
Although it rained heavily during the afternoon it didn't spoil the tour too much. This tour is definitely worth doing and the tour guide was very informative and took good care of everyone.
Great tour, great tour guide! Perfect day and great planning allowed us to enjoy all the sights without rushing. Our Guide, Jone, was friendly and helpful, making the trip a truly memorable experience. Highly recommend this tour. Definitely worth it!
Today 11/24 attended Noami tour group experience very good, people were very careful and kind. Take us together to explain the collection point identification, also provide relevant information👍👍👍
