Itinerary
Nara Park is one of the must-see areas in Nara City and is one of the oldest parks in Japan. The vast area covers 660 hectares and is renowned for its free-roaming deer and world-famous temples. These tame creatures are believed to be sacred messengers of the Shinto gods and walk freely in Nara. Over time, these cute deers have learned to bow to visitors-a sign for a treat. For over 1,300 years, humans and deer have peacefully coexisted in Nara. Today, they are protected as Natural Monuments, and revered as holy animals in Nara.
Todaiji is one of Japan's most famous and historically significant temples and a landmark of Nara. The temple is a listed UNESCO World Heritage Site as one of the "Historic Monuments of Ancient Nara", together with seven other sites including temples, shrines, and places in the city of Nara. The temple's main hall, the Daibutsuden (Big Buddha Hall), was recognized as the world's largest wooden building. The massive building houses one of Japan's largest bronze statues of Buddha (Daibutsu). The 15-meter-tall, seated Buddha represents Vairocana and is flanked by two Bodhisattvas.
The Kyoto Prefectural Uji Park is an island park surrounded by the Uji River, which divides the water's flow downstream. The park is connected to the riverbanks by three bridges. There are many scenic features including a 13th-century stone pagoda that stands 15 m tall. In spring, the park offers beautiful views of cherry blossom forests, and birds can be seen flying in the sky. Red-colored bridges connect the pathways on both sides of the river, and it's interesting to see ducks diving into the fast-flowing river to catch fish.
Byodo-in Temple is one of Japan's best-preserved national treasures and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The most iconic structure within the temple is the Phoenix Hall, which features wing-like corridors on either side of the central hall, resembling a phoenix spreading its wings, selected for the design as the obverse of the 10 yen coin.
Uji is renowned for its green tea production, and this charming street is lined with shops selling a variety of tea and tea-related products. It is a must-visit destination for anyone traveling to Uji, as it showcases Japan’s rich tea heritage and provides a glimpse into its fascinating history. As you stroll down the cobblestone path, the air is filled with the enticing aroma of freshly roasted tea leaves. Here you can try tea-flavored “dango” dumplings, noodles, ice creams, and donuts. Take your time to wander through the souvenir shops and eateries. At the end of the street, you will find a Starbucks that serves its popular Matcha Frappé.
The Uji River is the only river that originates from Lake Biwa, the largest lake in Japan. It has served as an important waterway connecting Shiga and Osaka since ancient times. The river flows through Uji, dividing the city into two parts and serving as a central focal point, with most shops and restaurants located along its banks. Uji Bridge, the main passage over the river, is considered one of the three oldest bridges in the country.
There are around 30,000 Inari shrines in Japan, Fushimi Inari Taisha is the head shrine, to worship the Shinto god of rice, Inari. The shrine is renowned for Senbon Torii, thousands of vermilion red torii gates, which create a stunning and immersive tunnel-like pathway up the sacred Mount Inari. In the 1300 years since its establishment in 711AD, people have gathered here to pray for bountiful harvests, business prosperity, the safety of their home and family, and the fulfillment of all other wishes.

I was disappointed we did not go to the Todaji temple which was on the itenirary I think the tour was short cut because the tour was running behind schedule.
Double check cruise terminal ship address. The cruise itinerary said Kyoto so I chose Kyoto Station’s meeting location. It happened to be an hour taxi ride, $233! I should have chosen the Osaka meet up point, only 19 minutes from the cruise ship terminalz
Great cultural locations. CC the guide was very professional, polite and pleasant. We enjoyed the tour very much
The tour and guide was excellent. The meeting point is too far away from the Osaka Cruise terminal, a $233 cab ride!
This day trip was a perfect tour to see several main highlights in the Kyoto/Osaka area. CC was a great guide. She answered questions, gave information before seeing the main sites, and made sure that we could communicate in order to find our way to and from the attractions. We enjoyed having information given on the bus and then being allowed to venture out on our own with a given timeframe. We really like the itinerary of this tour ending in Fushimi-inari as we were able to stay longer and find our own transportation home. We would highly recommend.
This was a wonderful day tour incorporating major sites just outside of Kyoto. CC was a great guide, filling us in on pertinent information before our stops, getting us to the starting destination, and then letting us roam on our own at each location, which I appreciated rather than being led around in a large group all day. I really enjoyed ending at the Fushinari gates where we were able to stay much longer and not take the bus back. CC was a great guide - very organized and had great communication, filled us in on details of the places we were seeing, and answered any questions. I would highly recommend.
It was incredible Stephen explains very well !! The places were beautiful and the deer experience very funny!
This was a great stress-free way to visit so many different attractions in a short amount of time! Our guide, Anson, was very informative and helped suggest great spots to eat, shop, and tips for the trip to see the most in a short amount of time. My family and I did not need to worry about figuring out public transportation, which was nice in unfamiliar areas. Anson taught us a lot while we took the bus to our next stop as well as when we arrived at our destination!
CC was a great tour leader. Very personable and knowledgeable. She was very organized to make sure we all knew where and when we were to meet back with the group. The tour was as described and I felt that there was enough time to enjoy each location.
Bus tour of three locations: Nara, Uji, and Fushimi Inari. Really friendly and knowledgeable guides some of whom speak multiple languages and can offer recommendations for local restaurants.
Excellent tour and tour guide. CC the tour guide gives clear information in English and Mandarin. Highly recommended
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ A Beautiful and Memorable Tour! What a wonderful experience! The tour was absolutely beautiful, and we thoroughly enjoyed every moment. Our guide was exceptionally well-spoken, knowledgeable, and entertaining, making the entire experience both interesting and enjoyable. Their engaging storytelling and lovely manner really brought everything to life. It was a fantastic tour, beautifully presented, and one we would highly recommend to anyone visiting. A truly memorable experience from start to finish!
Amazing experience so much free time to explore and see great sights! We enjoyed the flexibility and offerings.
It was a great tour. We found the guide Niko to be very helpful and informative. The bus was delayed and he sent me a WhatsApp message and kept me informed of his ETA
Our tour guide CC was such a lovely lady. CC gave us very clear information relating to where we were going. CC was very knowledgeable about the places and made our tour more interesting relating this to us. I would certainly recommend Travel Japan CC.
Steven was very knowledgeable and friendly. We had a good time and tried matcha ice cream. Thank you
Scarlett was a fantastic tour guide, funny and full of life, we had a wonderful experience! Our experience in Nara was very memorable and the deer eating out of our hands wss a fantastic experience.
Well worth it. Easy to book. Great communication. I was able to do a lot in a short amount of time. Highly recommend!
We had a wonderful experience with Clytie. She was incredibly kind, helpful and knowledgeable throughout the whole day, and made the tour enjoyable and stress-free. She took great care of us and gave us a good base of interesting information about the places we visited. The tour was absolutely worth the price, especially considering how much we were able to see and experience in one day. Clytie really made the difference. We would definitely recommend her
The trip was a great first introduction to Kyoto and some of its history. Our guide Scarlett was excellent! She was knowledgeable and funny and kept the interaction casual. The tour included all the important historical spots in one day with sufficient time to explore the landmarks! Would highly recommend this tour if it’s your first time in Kyoto.
Scarlett was our guide. She was amazing with sharing her knowledge of the area and provided us with interesting facts.
Lovely tour and tour guide! Would recommend to anyone looking to see these places. Not having to navigate trains and walking to get there was very nice.
It was really a wonderful tour. Our tour guide Nox was exceptional ✅ and our driver was also very accommodating. We loved the Deer park. It was very entertaining.
We enjoyed our tours very much, our tour guide CC was professional, courteous, and educationally, not only she show us around town, but she educate us about the Japanese history and culture while we were on the ride. We really appreciate her and had a great time.
We had a great time! Our tour guide Clytie did an excellent job, she made this tour interesting, educational and very professional. We will love to get another tour with her being our tour guide 😍
Sarah was an excellent and informative guide, providing an amazing overview of the history and architecture of this track.
Had a wonderful time and all the spots were covered at enough time to enjoy. The host, Amanda was super informative and helping with any questions and friendly.
The guide was very informative and kept us engaged. Sarah was great and caring guide. The trip was well organized.
Cali was an amazing tour guide! She was always down to share recommendations for our specific needs (especially when it came to food and activities!). She was also great at communication and was responsive on WhatsApp with meeting times and locations. Highly recommend if you’re looking for someone like Cali to guide you in English, Chinese, or Japanese. I’m really glad I chose this tour as someone who wanted to see as much as I could of Japan within the limited time I had starting in Osaka. It was the only day tour I found that has Uji included along with Nara and Kyoto. I felt like we were given enough time to enjoy ourselves in each city. It’s awesome that we were able to see a bit of all 3 cities in 1 day. This tour definitely had a lot of highlights for me. :-)
Amazing tour of Nara and Uji and very helpful tour guide!
My experience was well. The guide was very enthusiastic and friendly. We were given sufficient time to explore the numerous attractions in Kyoto and Nara. Watch out however, the deer are very aggressive, much more than they are depicted online.
Nice trip, the guide very kind
Our family had a wonderful experience! Scarlett was very knowledgeable, responsive, and attentive during tour! Our girls enjoyed the temples and deer! The matcha experience was delicious 😊.
Sarah was very Professional and helped a lot. She informed us for everything and whole trip was very delightful. Suggest to everyone.
Very comfortable guides were very nice
The best tour in Kyoto, our tour guide was Funny, knowledgeable, very interactive and guided us all throughout the teip
The itinerary was well designed and covered many of the region’s iconic attractions, including Nara Park, Tōdai-ji Temple, Uji, and the breathtaking Fushimi Inari Shrine. The pace was excellent, with enough time to explore while still covering a lot in a single day. Our guide, Scarlett, truly made the experience outstanding. She was funny, energetic, and incredibly organized. She constantly kept everyone informed through WhatsApp with clear reminders about meeting times and locations, making the day completely stress-free. She was also pleasantly “obsessive” about keeping the group on schedule, which ensured we made the most of every stop without feeling rushed. Scarlett shared interesting historical and cultural insights throughout the tour, bringing each destination to life rather than simply pointing out landmarks. Her enthusiasm and professionalism kept the group engaged from start to finish. The transportation was comfortable, everything ran smoothly, and the organization was excellent.I highly recommend this tour to anyone wanting to experience Kyoto, Nara, and Uji in a single day. If you’re lucky enough to have Scarlett as your guide, you’re in for a fantastic experience.

Fantastic trip to Nara and Uji. I highly recommend using this type of tours as you travel comfortably in the scorching summer in Japan. The activities are well organized. You focus on enjoying the trip instead of worrying about logistics. Our tour guide Allen did a great job. He provided us with great stories related to the places that we visited. He was also very professional did a good job with the coordination. We did four different tours during our trip to Japan. My family and I are convinced that we did the right thing. Enjoy your vacations and forget about dealing with logistics. You might also make new friends along the way. Good luck!
The curated set of experiences found in this excursion is exceptional. Not only did Anson (tour lead/manager) and Gin (tour driver/transportation expert) manage a challenging full-day, three-city itinerary with superior dexterity and know-how, but they also structured the experiences in an aesthetically pleasing mosaic of logical vistas that easily put it at the top of 'the best value for your money' options (among all the options you could find on Viator). Highlights one can mention include round-trip transportation, top must-see spots revealed, prices of optional paid activities highlighted, the restrooms' geographic location referenced, allotted time per attraction shared, and continuous tour information broadcasted via WhatsApp, leaving the rest to the participant.
C-C- was the best! The travel was on schedule and it was optional to stick with the guide at the beginning of the activity or go explore on your own.
Scarlett was fantastic! Fun, informative, and very professional and friendly. She kept the group on time and made the tour enjoyable.
We had a wonderful experience, our host was very friendly and informative and helpful, would definitely recommend to do it.
Anson the tour guide was very knowledgeable, pleasant, on time and helpful. The driver was also good and made everyone feel safe.
We enjoyed the tour very much and Sarsh was very informative. She had excellent communication on pick up and meeting times. We would definitely recommend.
The tour started in Osaka and our group got picked up in Kyoto. There was a delay in the tour. Overall the tour was good, fast pace for each area but a god chance to see the locations. My family opted out of the temples and had time to roam freely before going back to the bus. I would have liked to receive information about the tour ahead of time. Maybe they should create the WhatsApp groups earlier to provide updates to guest.
Scarlett did a wonderful job. What's translation between two different languages, she kept the crowd lively, oh, it's gave great timing for when we should be back to the bus.And the consequences, if we are not on time, we're definitely like to have her as a tour guide again, Mahalo
Our guide was wonderful and really made an effort to educate us as we drove between sites, so we'd know just what sites to expect and how much time we'd have - she made it fun and had a sense of humor. You really must download WhatsApp if the guides recommend it - they use it to reiterate tourism destinations and info, pin where to find the bus or parking lost, what time to be back, etc. Two members of the tour put us all in a terrible position - they were not using their phones, who knows what they were doing in Nara, but they caused us to run 20 minutes late. She did everything she could but it's Japan - everything and everyone is on time! It's just common courtesy on a tour like this and frankly you should not sign up if you can't follow simple rules. We were forced to leave them behind due to the nature of those time-specific parking lots... but it was a happy ending, as the couple just caught up to us by taking a taxi to the next site. It was unfortunate, and she clearly did everything possible - but how can you help someone who won't answer their phone? Anyway as I said they just found us again, and they obediently stuck to her side for the rest of the day. All that aside - I loved Nara; I think I would spend a half day there to really enjoy the museums, the deer, the Buddha. 90 minutes was too short! Visiting Uji was very special as I'm a green tea fan and they had some great shops. You *must* have cash for their cafes. The trip to Kyoto and the gates was satisfying to see, though by the end of the day it was extremely crowded and a little unpleasant due to the heat. I'm very glad I did this tour as it allowed me to see a lot, and I only hope that I can come back to Japan to linger in these beautiful towns. Grateful to the guide for making this a smooth trip.
Scarlet is very responsive, funny amd made the tour easier by giving the list & map of all the points of interest. Clear instructions were given from the beginning of the tour.
