I had a lovely walking tour with Den and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Den was incredibly informative, friendly and respectful throughout. He clearly has a great knowledge of Kyoto and its history, and took the time to answer all our questions, making the tour both interesting and engaging. What stood out in particular was how respectful he was of the local area, its culture and the people who live there. It was lovely to have a guide who genuinely cares about sharing Kyoto with visitors while being mindful of the local community. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Kyoto. Thank you, Den, for such an enjoyable evening!

Excelente tour con miki, logramos ver geishas y maikos
Yesterday we had a wonderful tour in Kyoto with our guide, Ayumi. It was truly spectacular. Ayumi demonstrated outstanding professionalism in the way she guided us. Her explanations were insightful, engaging, entertaining, and, at the same time, deeply moving. She is charismatic, knowledgeable, and genuinely fun to be around. She has a remarkable talent for storytelling, uses creative techniques to bring the history to life, takes advantage of things that happen on the go, and shows an admirable level of enthusiasm and passion for the subject. If you're thinking about taking a free evening walking tour in Kyoto about geiko and maiko (often incorrectly called geishas), ask for Ayumi as your guide. You can thank us later :-D
We did the Gion night tour with Ayuma. She was very enthusiastic and provided a lot of good information about the area old and new. She mentioned places we could go back to if we had more time and was ready to answer any questions. I would highly recommend this tour.
I went with my sister to the Gion district at night walking tour in may 2026. Our tour guide was AYUMI and she was amazing. The Gion district is known for the maikos and geikos so our tour was centered around that theme. It was informational, enjoyable and interesting, we even got to see maikos and geikos walking around. I would highly recommend this tour and our guide, she spoke english really well, was funny and enthusiastic. The tour was approximately 2 hours and there were fourteen of us in the group, Ayumi answered all are questions and made it fun and real. Enjoy :)
Ayumi was amazing! Super informative and you can tell she has a real passion for what she’s talking about! I loved it!

We had a wonderful night tour led by Ada during our visit to Kyoto. We were pleasantly surprised with the subject matter and learning more about the geiko/meiko's of Kyoto. Ada was super knowledgable about the topic and gave a thorough tour. She even gave us a list of recommended restaurants and bars to visit in Kyoto at the end of the tour which we really appreciated. We enjoyed our tour so much, we booked another Localized walking tour for our visit in Osaka. would highly recommend!
This was the best walking tour we did in Japan out of 5. Ayumi was lovely, and very knowledgeable about the whole Geisha (wrong wording on purpose) scene. I would recommend this everyday

We loved our tour with Ayumi! The tour was so interesting and informative, we really learnt a lot. I would highly recommend this tour!
Greatest tour I’ve done in my time in Japan so far, mainly due to Michael, he is a fantastic tour guide. The historic and current life of the Geishas couldn’t be better explained.
Wonderful tour with Ada, our tour guide. Ada is super knowledgeable about Geiko & Maiko culture in Kyoto and answered all our questions! Great introduction to Kyoto as first time visitors!
Ayumi, a great guide, gave us a very interesting and detailed tour of the Gion area. Despite the rain, the two-hour tour flew by.
This walking tour is the best we've done so far in Japan. Hana San was very attentive to everyone in our large ~15 person group, doing one-on-ones as we walked. We stopped at many different locations to learn about history, modern culture and receive personal anecdotes and recommendations. I enjoyed the pace of the tour as we didn't stand in one place for too long and we're able to explore certain areas on breaks at temples and parks on our own for 10 minutes.
super buena experiencia con MIKI, el tour fue estupendo y nos contaron todas las curiosidades, historias y tradiciones de las geishas y maikos, logramos ver 2 durante el tour. Se hizo corto! nos encantó
