Ask for Taikaison. He was awesome. Our day was full of rain, but we didn't even notice because he made it seemless and enjoyable. We still did everything we planned and even adjusted a few things to accomodate the weather. He was very knowledgeable and gave a lot great of information. He also does rickshaw tours in Kyoto. Would recommend him in particular 10/10. Okini!

One of the most iconic features of Kiyomizu-dera is its wooden stage, which juts out over the hillside, offering panoramic views of the cherry and maple trees below, as well as the city of Kyoto. The stage is supported by hundreds of wooden pillars, constructed without the use of nails—a testament to traditional Japanese craftsmanship. The temple complex also includes the Jishu Shrine, dedicated to the deity of love and matchmaking. Visitors can try to walk between two stones with their eyes closed—if successful, it is said they will find true love. Kiyomizu-dera is a UNESCO World Heritage site and is especially popular during the cherry blossom and autumn foliage seasons. The temple's architecture, natural surroundings, and cultural significance make it a must-visit destination in Japan.
Explore Kyoto’s timeless beauty by strolling through Ninenzaka and Sannenzaka, two historic lanes leading to the iconic Yasaka Pagoda. These stone-paved streets, lined with traditional wooden shops and teahouses, offer a glimpse into Japan's Edo period. Capture the stunning view of the five-story Yasaka Pagoda towering above, especially enchanting during cherry blossom season or at sunset. Whether shopping for Kyoto crafts, enjoying local delicacies, or simply soaking in the serene atmosphere, a visit to Ninenzaka, Sannenzaka, and Yasaka Pagoda is a journey into the heart of Kyoto's rich cultural heritage.
Kinkaku-ji, or the Golden Pavilion, is one of Kyoto's most iconic landmarks. This Zen Buddhist temple is famous for its stunning, gold-leaf-covered exterior, which reflects beautifully in the surrounding pond. Originally built as a retirement villa for shogun Ashikaga Yoshimitsu in the 14th century, it was later converted into a temple. The serene gardens surrounding Kinkaku-ji are meticulously designed, with pathways leading to tranquil spots offering perfect views of the temple and its reflection. Kinkaku-ji is a UNESCO World Heritage site and a must-visit for anyone exploring the cultural treasures of Kyoto.
Discover the enchanting Arashiyama Bamboo Grove, a serene escape in Kyoto where towering bamboo stalks create a mystical, otherworldly atmosphere. Just a short walk away, cross the iconic Togetsukyo Bridge, which spans the Katsura River and offers breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains, especially vibrant in spring and autumn. Whether you’re strolling through the bamboo forest, renting a traditional rickshaw, or enjoying the riverside scenery, Arashiyama is a must-visit destination that blends natural beauty with cultural heritage. Perfect for photographers, nature lovers, and anyone seeking a tranquil retreat in Kyoto's lush landscapes.
Step into a world of color and tradition at the Kimono Forest in Arashiyama, Kyoto. This stunning outdoor art installation features over 600 cylindrical pillars wrapped in vibrant kimono fabrics, beautifully illuminated after dark. Located near the Randen Arashiyama Station, the Kimono Forest offers a unique blend of modern art and traditional Japanese culture. Each pillar showcases intricate patterns inspired by Kyoto’s rich textile heritage, creating a mesmerizing walkway that feels like stepping through a living kimono. Whether day or night, the Kimono Forest provides a picturesque and enchanting experience, perfect for capturing unforgettable memories in Kyoto.
A landmark in Arashiyama, Kyoto offers a captivating blend of natural beauty and cultural heritage. Spanning the Katsura River, this iconic wooden bridge is surrounded by lush bamboo groves, vibrant cherry blossoms in spring, and fiery autumn foliage, making it a picturesque destination year-round. As you stroll across the bridge, the serene waters below reflect the surrounding.
Explore the spiritual wonder of Fushimi Inari Shrine, Kyoto’s most iconic Shinto shrine, renowned for its thousands of vibrant red torii gates that wind through the sacred Mount Inari. This mystical pathway leads visitors through serene forests, offering stunning views and a deep connection to Japan’s ancient traditions. Dedicated to Inari, the deity of rice and prosperity, the shrine is dotted with fox statues, believed to be Inari’s messengers. Whether you’re seeking spiritual renewal or a breathtaking hike, Fushimi Inari Shrine is a must-visit destination that encapsulates the essence of Kyoto’s rich cultural heritage.

We had a very nice day with Atsushi - an easy pick-up and return to our hotel in Osaka and we covered the classic highlights of Kyoto. But what made it a 5 star trip was his ability to find quieter places (a very nice meditation oriented temple, side roads to avoid the main crowds, etc) which made visiting a busy tourist destination a delight rather than a crowd. His lunch recommendation and route through the Gion area was also very appreciated.
It was wonderful to experience the Kyoto vibe. The tour guide and the driver was good. The vehicle used was very relaxing.
Thank you, Nao, for everything! It was an amazing visit. We learned Japan's history through your clear explanations. Thanks for being such a great host,
Wonderful day. Beautiful weather. Knowledgeable guide. Safe driver. Awesome experience
We had an amazing time. Our guide was awesome. Her name was NAO.. For lunch She took us to this great spot for a Wagyu cheeseburger. And we stopped at a bunch of little places when we were walking around we tried Matcha for the first time, and we loved the spots that we went to, the shrines and the temples and the pavilion and the bamboo forest. She took some amazing photos..
Taikai Sato was an amazing guide. He tailored the tour to our interests. He was very knowledgeable and friendly. Bonus points … he takes great photos.
Hands down the highlight of our entire trip. Shaniece is simply phenomenal—her incredible energy, warmth, and expertise made the entire day unforgettable and effortless. Pair that with Kana, who navigated us smoothly and safely every mile of the way, and you have the ultimate dream team. Do not miss this experience!
Super communications leading up to the day. Met by the lovely Caroline right at the exit of the cruise port. Her English was excellent and she had amazing knowledge that she shared throughout the day. All entry tickets were included and the 8 hour trip actually turned into 10. Fantastic locations visited. A wonderful day thanks to Caroline and the driver (who's amazing English stretched as far as "ok let's goooooo!!!") Thank you both.😁
First off, I want to say that our tour guide, Yujiro, was absolutely amazing, kind, friendly, and incredibly knowledgeable! This tour was fun, exciting, informative, and truly an experience to remember! My family and I (all 3 of us) are so glad we chose this tour instead of exploring on our own because we definitely would’ve been lost! THANK YOU AGAIN, Yujiro, for making this such a wonderful and unforgettable experience!
Our tour guide, Christine, was excellent! He shared fascinating insights into local history and culture while keeping us safe and providing great lunch options. Christine kept the group strictly on schedule and ensured no one got lost, making the entire experience highly enjoyable.
I never write reviews, but I believe that this experience deserved one. Our guide Yuki was absolutely amazing! She was personable, knowledgeable, accommodating, and a complete joy to be around the entire day. If I could give her six stars, I would!
It was our family's first overseas trip. After searching through countless reviews, we finally chose this tour! Since we were traveling with two elementary school students, we wanted a relaxed schedule and travel times that wouldn't be boring. We were really hoping that Guide Lewis would be assigned to us, and it happened.
This was our first trip to Kyoto as a family of three, and since a fully packaged tour might have been too exhausting for our child, we decided to book a one-day tour for the first time. It turned out to be much more fun than we expected. Our guide, Caroline, took such great care of us from the very beginning to the end of the tour. He explained the differences between Japanese and Korean cultures in such an engaging and natural way that we never felt bored for a single moment. In fact, the schedule flew by so fast that we were actually disappointed it had to end. Thanks to Guide Caroline, whom we would love to meet again if we ever return to Kyoto, we are heading home with wonderful memories with our family~ :D We will definitely see you again next time~><
Was a great day. Was messaged prior and then met directly off of the ship by Atashushi at Osaka port. He was our private guide for the entire day, driving us from place to place, giving us the information and taking us to lunch. It was a full day of sightseeing to the main places in Kyoto, getting back to the ship an hour before departure. Would definitely recommend in place of an overpriced cruise excursion.
Our guide Dan was excellent. A well organised tour, showcasing four of Kyotos wonderful sites, all with a knowledgeable guide that catered for family needs.
Had a wonderful time! Christine was energetic throughout despite the long tour hours. She was an exceptional guide who could clearly articulate historical nuances about distant relics while also pointing us to a good coffee shop. She offered a flexible, well-designed itinerary; we also never felt rushed. Would certainly recommend this tour…
Thanks to our guide CHRISTINE, we had a truly comfortable and wonderful time in Kyoto! From start to finish, she was kind and attentive, ensuring we traveled comfortably without any inconvenience during transits. Her explanations at each tourist spot were engaging and easy to understand, making it a much more fulfilling experience than just sightseeing. In particular, CHRISTINE's bright and friendly demeanor kept us in a great mood throughout the trip, and it was so enjoyable that the day flew by before we even noticed. I would strongly recommend this to anyone considering a trip to Kyoto. Thanks to CHRISTINE, we are leaving with many wonderful memories of Kyoto. Thank you so much! 😊
This Full-day tour of Kyoto was an absolute delight! A special thanks to our tour guide, Ben, whose service throughout the trip was warm and sincere. The explanations at each attraction were thorough, the schedule was perfectly timed, and he thoughtfully shared tips for taking great photos and enjoying the sights. Thanks to Ben's professional guidance, we created wonderful travel memories. Highly recommended.
This tour exceeded our expectations. Having private transportation was an excellent way to see a lot of the sights in Kyoto efficiently. Plus, our guide and driver, Yuhey, was fantastic. Try to message to operator to request Yuhey - he will make your day a special one. We saw the top sights in Kyoto, had a wonderful teppanyaki lunch (not included, but so much fun - and we needed to eat), and were able to transit from place to place efficiently. We parked at convenient places that the busses can't get to which made the day ultra efficient. Yuhey not only explained the culture and background at each site, but he also was an expert photographer. He did things with my phone camera which resulted in magical photographs. He knew how to direct us to make the images very special. He became our friend throughout the day. We laughed and laughed. We also had such interesting conversations. Meeting people like Yuhey is what traveling around the world is all about. You will see the sights, but will also make a connection with a new friend. We highly recommend this tour. Thank you, Yuhey!!!
Yujiro, our guide, was so hospitable, respectful, and accommodating throughout the trip. We had a great time exploring Kyoto in just one day! Everything was smooth and enjoyable, and Yujiro made the experience even more memorable with her warm hospitality and helpfulness. He made sure we were comfortable and well taken care of throughout the journey. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a wonderful and hassle-free trip in Japan. Thank you, Yujiro, for making our Kyoto experience truly special! 😊✨
We had a full day of sightseeing in Kyota with Caroline . She was exceptional in communicating all the various activities and places that we were able to see and even helpful in helping us with shopping. We were able to see far more than we had ever anticipated, thanks to her efforts. We would highly recommend Caroline !! Ken
This tour was one of the best we have taken. Akira, our guide, was knowledgeable and gave us great background for the sites we saw. He was able to weave Japanese history with modern Japanese society, helping us to better understand modern-day, Japan and how it evolved. We particularly liked the restaurant he chose for lunch; it was a place for local Japanese people, not for tourists, and the food was excellent. Being 80 years old, I was so appreciative when he gave me a hand on the many steep and uneven steps at the temples and shrines. If you book this tour, cross your fingers that Akira is your guide.
Taikai was a wonderful guide for our day trip to Osaka and Nara. We learnt a lot of the history of the places we visited and he gave us plenty of time to walk at a very leisurely pace enjoying the sights. He was very generous with his time offering to stop on the way at a toy store so I could buy my grandson a gift. The lunch place he chose was phenomenal and he introduced us to Osaka's special cuisine. Taikai is also a rickshaw driver for tourists. I wish we had time to enjoy that too. Definitely choose this tour. He can design it to include whatever you wish to see on Kyoto or Osaka.
Dear Christine, I am truly grateful to you for the way you looked after my parents during their time in Kyoto and Osaka. It means a great deal to me to know that they were in such caring and capable hands, so far away from home. The warmth, kindness, and affection you showed them go far beyond what one could expect from a tour guide. You are a wonderful example of a person with a truly beautiful heart, and in many ways, you remind me of what makes a great daughter — someone who cares for others with genuine love, patience, and compassion. My parents have had nothing but the most wonderful things to say about you, and their happiness speaks volumes about the experience you gave them. You didn't just help them explore two beautiful cities; you made them feel comfortable, cared for, and special. As a son, there is no greater comfort than knowing that one's parents are being treated with such warmth and respect. For that, I will always be thankful to you. Thank you, Christine, from the bottom of my heart. People may forget places they visit, but they never forget the kindness of those who make their journey memorable. You have certainly left that kind of impression on my parents — and on me, too. With heartfelt gratitude and warmest wishes ❤️
My Husband and I had an absolute blast on this day tour. We had so much fun with our tour guide Ana, who was very knowledgeable on the places we visited, we learnt so much today. Ana wasn’t just the tour guide but she also offered to be our photographer in every site and her photos are amazing! I won’t say too much as to not spoil the great parts but all I can say is this Kyoto Day Tour is so worth it. In between the itinerary of places you will also have time to buy souvenirs. We had lunch at a traditional Japanese restaurant where we had to take our shoes off, they had a variety of menu sets to pick from and everything we ordered was delicious! Thank you Ana-san and Cho-san for the best day!
Taikai is an absolutely amazing guide. He spoke very good English and is well educated on tourism . A truly incredible person, very patient and accommodating!!! The tour was very well planned We saw all the places that we wanted to see and more Taikai took pictures of us at all the locations. Visited Bamboo Forest, Golden Temple, Kiyomizu Temple and Fushi Inari Shrine as well as the Nishiki Market
Best guide, perfect amount of time in each sightseeing place. recover all the important sites all just in one day this tour is around 8 hours long and the transportation makes it way easier to travel from one spot to another spot. The day went so fast and I really enjoyed strolling around the bamboo forest especially because it’s very peaceful. it is my dream to actually visit Kyoto and I finally made it. thank you so much to the Tour Guide who really made the day fantastic
This is the most organized tour that I have ever been to the Tour Guide Christine not only just speaks perfect English, but also very personable, knowledgeable and kind. She’s very kind to every of our family and keeps the conversation engaging. Kyoto is the most beautiful city I’ve ever been to and you will not regret to book this tour with her and her company.
I had such an amazing time on this Kyoto tour! Our guide was fantastic, very friendly, and made the whole day enjoyable. I honestly couldn’t believe how quickly the day went! My favorite part is definitely walking through the torii gates. Fantastic?!
This was the best tour ever!!! Our guide, Yuhey, was fantastic! So knowledgeable, friendly and great fun to spend a day with! He took us to all the famous Kyoto sites I had wanted to see! He also took us to lunch , where he cooked for us! I can’t say enough great things about Yuhey as nd this tour!!!
We did the one day tour from Osaka to Kyoto w/ this tour and would absolutely recommend! Our guide, Caroline, was very helpful and informative of the trip! She started the day off w/ an itinerary of what we’ll be doing all day. She also sent dropped pins on where we’re meeting back at each location which was super helpful so we didn’t have to guess where we’re going! Being able to see Kyoto in one day and not worrying about transportation was super nice and a very nice break for our feet!
It's was really smooth and enjoyable tour. Make sure to have internet connection so you can get an update real time like parking area maps, scheduled time to leave the location via messaging apps. Our tour guide Lewis was really accommodating, knowledgeable and generous enough. Overall, it was very informative, fun and will defenitely recommend this day tour to my family and friends. 10/10 satisfied with Lewis as a tour guide. keep it up!
We had a great tour with Ana, who was a very friendly and knowledgeable guide. The hotel pick up and drop off in Osaka worked very well. Highly recommended way to see some of the main sites in Kyoto!
If you’re visiting Kyoto for the first time and want to see as much as possible in one day, I definitely recommend this tour. It was worth every penny! 100000% super recommended having the tour guide who speaks wonderful English and with sense of humor, this is definitely the one to book and the way to travel Kyoto
Ask for Caroline! She is a great person with lots of history knowledge to tell you during the tour. She and the driver picked us up from the port and we had a full fantastic Kyoto day with her
What an incredible day in Kyoto! We got to see so many beautiful places in just one day, and honestly I don’t think we could have done it without this tour. Everything was well organized and having a private car made such a difference. No worrying about trains or finding our way around. Our guide Ben was super friendly and gave us plenty of time to enjoy each stop. The Golden Temple was absolutely stunning, and walking through the bamboo forest was my favorite part. The whole day went by so quickly!!!! Definitely one of the highlights of our Japan trip.
Such a fantastic experience from beginning to end! Shaniece was knowledgeable, patient, and really easy to talk to. We learned so much about Kyoto that we probably would have missed exploring on our own. I especially loved visiting Kiyomizu Temple and walking around the old streets with all the little shops. The scenery was beautiful everywhere we went. The itinerary was well planned, with a good balance of sightseeing and free time. Thank you for making our day in Kyoto so memorable!
What I really appreciated was that we never felt rushed even though we visited several places. The private transportation was comfortable and saved us a lot of time. Such a wonderful experience and absolutely worth it! good luck for your business Ben!
Fantastic tour with Yuhey and highly recommend him for your first visit to Kyoto. It was great getting picked up at the hotel and driven to multiple difference temples and shrines. Yuhey was very knowledgeable and answered all our questions. The car rides between stops were fun and we discussed people, music and cultural differences. I learned a lot and another huge perk was he is a fantastic photographer. We have over a 100 really cool pictures from all over Kyoto. We had such a good time we rebooked with Yuhey for Nara or Osaka.
Yujiro was great tour guide. I wasn't aware of how large the areas were. It great Tour if your trying to cram as much of Kyoto's that you can. I wouldn't mind coming back and check the areas with more time. If do get the package hopefully you get tour guide as nice as Yujiro.
We had a wonderful experience with this tour. We visited a lot of sites in one day. Our guide Mr. Taikai Sato was amazing. Thank you Mr. Sato. Very friendly and knowledgeable. Learned a lot from the sites we visited. All admission fees were included. We were glad we booked this tour. Great value for our money.
Lots of walking. Some are uphill or steps to climb. Love our tour. We visited many places in one day. Our guide Mr. Taikai Sato was an amazing guide. Very knowledgeable. He was on time too.
A great experience and Velaris was an amazing and knowledgeable tour guide. She touch on every are of Kyoto and provided a great experience for our family.
Japan with Christine was a wonderful experience. Our group booked a full day tour of Kyoto with her. Christine texted me several times before our tour to check on what we wanted to include. She planned a wonderful day for our group including visiting important temples and sites, time for shopping, a Geicko/ Maiko dance performance and a wonderful teppanyaki dinner. Everything was perfectly timed and coordinated taking into account everyone’s dietary needs and walking abilities. All of this was done with grace and good humor and all the information we needed to appreciate each stop. Mr Snake, our driver, was very adept at handling the streets of Kyoto and it was reassuring that he was always there to meet us when we were ready to go to the next stop. I highly recommend Japan with Christine.
We were met exactly on time by Ana, our guide. She was absolutely brilliant, very caring and considerate, especially with me as I have walking problems. Nothing was too much trouble and she knew all about the sites we visited, giving excellent information. I must also mention our driver, who was excellent with an immaculate vehicle. I can’t recommend this tour highly enough.
The transportation and trip organization was well done. Great driver, easy pickup. The tour is very rushed to fit in many sites and the guide had only superficial knowledge of the sites and history. Felt like the goal was instagram pictures and no content.
It was a great tour. The experience was very enjoyable and Kazu was an excellent guide; he was very courteous, helpful and knowledgeable. We went to several sites and it was very good value. Highly recommended.
We had an excellent time with Atousi as our tour guide. Atousi was very friendly, attentive, and accommodating. He was very knowledgeable about the history of Japan and was very happy to answer all of our inquisitive questions, and not just about the history of Japan, but also about current Japanese culture and way of life. We had very intriguing conversations, which we loved. The tour included several stops which were very crowded, but we didn’t feel rushed by Atousi at all. We even had time to stop and buy some of the local snacks. I feel we wouldn’t have received this kind of attention from a large group tour. I would say the money was well worth the private tour and I would highly recommend it.
Excelent tour and guia very exiting
