Bar Hopping Private Tour In Kyoto (Local Area1)

It was lots of fun. We didn’t know anything about Japanese drinks. Takeshi is very personable and helpful. Now we know that my companion likes raw sake and I like beer and whisky.

The Tour with Takeshi was really fun! We started with a visit in the shrine where we met, Takeshi showed us the right way to pray! After that we walked to the sake tasting and the people where so nice!! When we finished we want to an Izakaya with lots of Good good food, like okonomyaki and the lady who owns the restaurant is soooo nice and cute! We talked a bit and felt so welcome thanks to her! And then the Highlight of the evening started, we got to a really small Bar on the third floor and met two costumers that made the evening Perfect for us!! Takeshi did his best while translating between us and the other two men and it was getting more funnier, the more we drank hahaha. This evening has a special Place in our hearts and thanks to Takeshi we could meet a lot of super nice Japanese people. We really appreciate the memories we made! Much love from Germany <3

My boyfriend and I had the BEST time bar hopping last night, all thanks to Takeshi! From the moment we met him, he was so welcoming, funny, and full of great energy. He made us feel like locals instantly, introducing us to hidden bars we never would’ve found on our own, and even introducing us to so many cool people along the way. It honestly felt like we were hanging out with an old friend who just happened to know all the best spots in town. Takeshi also gave us amazing recommendations for places to eat in Kyoto. Takeshi will transport you to a world of a Japanese local. He might be reserved at the start but he will open up about his life, his family and soon enough you will be just like a local from Kyoto hanging out with a friend after work. He will bring you to drink sake that only locals would know, eat at places that only speak Japanese so you can see what daily life is and bump into people that are just looking to have a good time (with Takeshi as a translator!). You will truly become a local just for 4-5 hours. Most other places or tours are just catered to tourists but if your thing is to be part of local culture, this is the tour for you!

We went to a couple of cool bars, but didn’t come away from the experience knowing more about sake as we had hoped. It’s also a full dinner and not a snack as noted in the description.

We had the best night, all 3 locations were awesome and we went to a restaurant that catered to us being vegetarian. If your wanting to experience a cool night out in Kyoto away from all the crowded tourist areas this is the one

Takeshi was an excellent host who made my daughter and I feel so welcome while showing us many local spots in Kyoto. We made lots of new friends and shared stories over a variety of different drinks! Takeshi is super friendly and helped with our Japanese pronunciations. My daughter was a quick learner and enjoyed learning some useful phrases. We even me other locals who were able to practice their English with us, talking about common subjects like anime and movies. Would highly recommend you have Takeshi show you around his town.

THANK YOU TAKESHI! My wife and I visited Japan for our honeymoon and book the tour with Takeshi for our first night in Kyoto. Despite us being a little late, and my wife not feeling well, Takeshi gave us a warm welcome to the city by taking us to some bars we probably would not have experienced without his advice. Despite one of the bars being temporarily closed due to illness, Takeshi was quick to redirect our adventure and give us a fantastic whisky tasting at another local bar. Outside of the tour, Takeshi continued to provide recommendations for the rest of our trip, making us feel like we had made a great friend that wanted the best for us and our honeymoon. We can’t thank Takeshi enough, this tour really elevated our experience in Japan!

Wonderful experience with Takeshi! We enjoyed a sake store that doubles as a bar/tasting area- the owner’s son speaks excellent English and we learned tons about sake. We also ate a nice dinner at a local spot and wrapped up at a cool whiskey bar, sampling some Japanese whiskey. Simple tour concept, but a nice way to spend an evening, learn about Japanese nightlife and drinking culture, and make a friend, thanks Takeshi!

We had a blast on our tour with Takeshi! He took us to several local hidden spots that would have been hard to find without him! He also did a great job of providing a fun atmosphere as well as good history on many things in Japan. I would definitely come back and do it again 😊

Awesome evening experience! Takeshi took my friend and I to a nearby small temple, a sake tasting room, an authentic tempura restaurant, and finally a sake standing bar. It was very nice to have a relaxing evening with a local after spending the day in tourist crowds. We got to try some amazing food and drink spots that I would have never walked into without a local guide. This was our favorite experience in Kyoto! Takeshi was so kind and a great guide. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a local experience without the big crowds.

My husband and I spent an unforgettable night going to bar hopping with Takeshi in Kyoto, one of the highlights of our trip! Not only was he fun and cool to hang out with, he gave us access to places only a local could. This is a no brainer for an authentic night out.

Takeshi is awesome!! Our family visited Kyoto from New York / Singapore and wanted to eat and drink where the locals go. it was an enjoyable, informative and incredibly entertaining evening! We started at a shrine where Takeshi showed us how the rituals are performed correctly and in what order, and explained what it was all about. Our first food stop was a sake bar, where we tried various sakes. Afterwards, we had a rather extensive meal with many different delicacies at an izakaya / gyoza restaurant. And finally, we went to a cool bar that served fish specialities. But the special thing about food tours is the bond you build with your local guide in the few hours. we learned a lot about the country and its people. And Takeshi also stayed in touch with us during the following days, giving us tips on restaurants and excursions. All in all, a highly recommendable tour with a lot of fun! We had a great time with Takeshi! He took us to three local places – sake bar, gyoza, and izakaya. Everything was delicious, and Takeshi was very laid back and easy to have a conversation with. And as my and my husband’s Japanese is very, very limited, it helped to build our confidence when we explore on our own. We definitely recommend doing a tour with Takeshi.

I asked my japanese friend on which place is best to visit when going to Japan and she recommended Kyoto. Kyoto is well-known for its historical temples, beautiful gardens, shrines, traditional wooden houses and many more. When I’ve read this guide. It perfectly fits and completed my travel plans. A must do to all Kyoto visitors. I tried sake, drinks and Japanese finger foods I did not even know existed. Takeshi combines/couples the drinks with the foods perfectly - it is just like tasting a slice of Kyoto life like a real local - I recommend the happy hour after work especially!
