It's ok. Our Japanese style room was pretty small and a bit stuffy with the tiniest toilet I've ever seen. Bit of a challenge to balance on it. Staff were helpful and laundry was trivial cost but overall didn't think it was good value compared to others.
The hotel is conveniently located near the city center, with friendly staff who speak good English. The room itself is quite small — to the point that Muslim travelers may find it difficult to pray inside — though the bathroom is nice. One downside is that cleaning and restocking of water and amenities is only done every three days.
Really enjoyed my stay at Waka Kyoto Kawaramachi. We stayed for 4 nights in a twin room. The room was clean, quiet, and the air conditioning worked well. Hotel staff at the front desk were friendly and provided water bottles when we requested them. This hotel was in a great location, close to transit and sight seeing areas.
We completed laundry during our stay. There is one washer and dryer located on the first floor. Just note you may have to pay to run the dryer multiple times as our clothes were still very damp after the first half hour was up.
Our only complaint is that the bathroom door was frosted and a mirror was placed in a spot in the room where the other person in the room could see in. Felt a little uncomfortable as we preferred a little more privacy.
We’ve had a lovely stay at Waka Kyoto Kawaramachi! The room was clean, spacious, and equipped with a mix of all necessary amenities. Sleeping on tatami mats and a futon was really comfortable. The staff’s very friendly and helpful. And the location is perfect: the hotel is close to bus and metro stations, shopping districts, the river, and convenience stores. I would definitely stay here again during my next visit to Kyoto :-)
Such a lovely hotel! In a great area walkable to most sights, restaurants, bars, etc. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Everything is super clean and they have extra amenities such as toothbrushes, razors and hairbrushes incase you forgot yours. They also have a washer and dryer on sight you can pay to use. Rooms are on the small side, but have enough space to rest and relax. I would love to return one day duering my travels.
