The Chapter Kyoto – Decent Hotel in a Convenient Location I booked The Chapter Kyoto mainly because it was part of the Marriott group. It’s not an exceptional hotel, but it’s a decent place to stay in a very convenient part of Kyoto. The biggest advantage is its location. You can walk to Nishiki Market, and even Gion is around a 20-minute walk away. It’s a good base if you want to explore central Kyoto, including the Gion area and the streets around Yasaka Pagoda. Public transport is also convenient, with buses and subway connections nearby, making it easy to explore different parts of Kyoto. Arashiyama, however, is quite far from here. The hotel itself is fairly basic, but comfortable enough for a city stay. I didn’t try the restaurant or any of the food, as I mostly used the hotel as a place to sleep while exploring Kyoto. It seems to be quite popular with tourists, probably because of its location and relatively reasonable pricing. Overall, it’s a decent option if you’re looking for a Marriott property in central Kyoto without spending too much. But I would recommend exploring other hotels in the same area as well, as you might find something more interesting for a similar price.

The one-night stay I had at The Chapter Kyoto was very pleasant. The overall experience was great. I was assigned to a room with no view at all (facing the wall). When asked the staff at the reception is there anything can change/upgrade to. They let me know there’s a room facing the Main Street and bigger room available for a very reasonable price. So I took that. And it is definitely worth the upgrade. The hotel has a public bath area which I love it. Didn’t see many people using it though. So, fortunately I get to use it as private bathroom (in a way lol). Location is also great. Near a subway station and very close to the famous river in the city. Definitely recommend for people who wants to enjoy a relaxing stay but doesn’t want to break the bank.

Amazing service. Best hotel I stayed at during my entire time in Tokyo. Amazing staff and service that goes above and beyond for their guests. We were lucky pleasantly surprised with a sweet note and piece of cake from Thapas for our 5 year wedding anniversary; he was very attentive and helpful to answer all our questions when we checked in. Ai was incredibly helpful at helping us contact a few hotels to sort out changes with our luggage delivery. She made calls to multiple hotels to help us sort what would’ve been a nightmare for us and kept us updated throughout the process. Very amazing service and I’ll definitely stay here again!

The hotel provided a truly wonderful experience from start to finish. Our room was exceptionally clean and comfortable. The staff were consistently friendly and helpful, always ready with a smile and assistance. The lobby smelled incredible, leaving us searching both local shops and the Internet for a similar scent for our home. We also enjoyed the Nespresso machine in the lobby, which was free to use and perfect for a long day of exploring. We would highly recommend this hotel to anyone seeking a memorable and enjoyable stay!
