Booked here for our stay in Kyoto. Location is fantastic for going to all the shrines on the east side and also for food in central kyoto, lost a star as it's a 30 minute walk from the station, buses don't let you take large luggage on them so it's a connecting underground ride to get to it but there's not much the hotel can really do about that. Staff were very friendly and welcoming, stored our bags until our room was ready and bags were delivered into the room for our arrival. We had a free welcome drink at the rooftop bar overlooking the city. It was such a gorgeous view we went back later for another drink after dinner. There's comfy seating and also bar seating where you can soak your feet in warm water. Rooms were very clean and well presented. There's 2 saunas (men and women) so they do swap who has which sauna each day. The sauna with the city views is gorgeous, they even have a deep area (1.2m) which is a bonus. Would highly recommend if staying in kyoto

They go above and beyond to help you in any way they can. They helped me get my bags shipped to and from the hotel. I also forgot my Nintendo DS and they promptly shipped it to the next hotel. Not to mention that staff always made me feel welcome. The rooftop os a nice addition, especially during sunset. The onsen for feet was great every evening. And the onsen itself was also nice. The botel room was roomy and clean. Location was amazing, right in the center of the shopping area with a train station just next to it and a huge supermarket across the street.
We really enjoyed our stay. The private onsen inside our room was incredible and definitely one of the highlights. The bed was very comfortable, the private patio was a nice place to relax, and we appreciated all the little extras provided throughout the stay. The rooftop terrace had an incredible view, and having a happy hour drink time up there was such a nice touch. We paid separately for dinner and had to reserve it well in advance. It was definitely an adventurous Japanese dining experience! We tried several things we normally would never eat, which made it unique and memorable. The biggest downside was breakfast. At around $40 per person, I felt it was very expensive for what we received. We chose the Japanese breakfast, and while it was interesting to try, I didn't feel it justified the price. We also found the hotel to be fairly inflexible when we needed to make changes or adjustments. We were really disappointed they would not cancel and refund our money for the next day since we did not like our breakfast. One tip: I would definitely recommend requesting a room on a higher floor. We were on the second floor, and unfortunately our view was blocked. Overall, the beautiful private onsen, rooftop views, comfortable room, and unique experience made for a memorable stay.
The service is simply incredible ! This hotel deserves a million stars! Immediately when I walked in from the station,I was soaked from the rain ! Upon entrance I was greeted with 2 staff members helping with my luggage and offering towels to keep me and my belongings dry! The Ryokan style rooms give incredible views of the city , incredibly cozy and clean! From the showers to the tea set , and even the robes , I felt right at home ! Now the Onsen….needs a review of its own! This is my first time in Japan and I’m so glad I got my first onsen experience here! Waking up early to use it was the best thing for me! The onsen overlooks the Kamogawa river , providing the most relaxing vibes ever! My only regret is not using It when I first arrived! The bar too is nice ! Truly offering an escape like sector of the hotel! Plus the amenities are amazing! The onsite washer and dryer + smoking rooms provide privacy from the rest of the hotel! The staff is incredible and super attentive! I’m sad I only got 5 days in the hotel , but they made my Kyoto stay worth the journey from Tokyo!! Will absolutely be booking here in the future
I don’t write many reviews but really felt I needed to give credit where it’s due. This is easily one of the best hotels I’ve ever stayed in. Modern, clean, and spacious rooms with all the room amenities you could ask for. Coin laundry in the basement is very convenient. Both public baths are top notch, switching genders each day so you can try both if staying multiple nights. There are complimentary soft drinks, tea, coffee, and ice blocks in the lounge area which is great after an onsen session. There is even a complimentary drink (beer, wine, etc.) each night on the rooftop bar (with stunning views and a foot bath!). Housekeeping and customer service were flawless. The location is perfect, close to the main shopping area and directly across the river from Gion. Convenient to trains and buses. If I come back to Kyoto, I’ll be staying here again without question.
