Great location! Literally a hop skip and a jump from Kyoto station. Beds are hard as a brick! Room has a fridge and a tea maker. Room is small but larger than Tokyo rooms of same class. Hotel room was very clean. Amenities were plentiful. And they offer free tea and beverages including alcohol through 11pm. You also get a free gift (I chose a face mask) for becoming a Vessel Hotels member (it’s free-just provide your email). Our check-in experience was great but we did have a Japanese speaking escort who handled most things.

I've been here twice in 1 year apart because its location + breakfast+ loyalty program However, I decided to stop coming here again in future of my Kyoto Trip. Good things 1. Breakfast is good variety and include DIY sashimi rice bowel. 2. Good location from Kyoto Staion. 3. Not to crowded 4. Sense of Japanese atmosphere decoration. 5. Reasonable price. Disappointing points 1. Attitude toward foreigner is not good for some staffs and this remained both of my visit which was 1 year apart which other vessel hotel dont' seem to be like this. 2. Service mind of staff is not 4-star at all, not sure is it about language barrier or not. 3. Super Dusty room, in my last visit , I stayed with very uncomfortable feeling to afraid of some thick dust from their wall decoration will drop on my head during sleep.(room301) 4. The hotel ignore request and provide the opposite one while the availability is so vacant, I request a room which has distance from elevator but they put me in the room next to elevator! (301) I won't choose here again.
A clean comf6hitel only 5 mins walk from Kyoto station. We had a twin room which was spacious yet the bathroom was let's say usable. The shower was good. Breakfast for a westerner is limited. The staff are all very friendly. There is free beer in the evening for a few hours. The location though is perfect as it's close to the bus and train station. Loads of valued restaurants around and also 7 elevens etc.
There is a free drinks bar 2pm-8pm (beer, wine, sake, whiskey, cola, tonic water and nuts!) and the staff were great as always in Japan. The staff at the hotel make the experience a 5 star. Location is a few minutes walk to station so super convenient. The room and bathroom was just a bit too small so I found that a little uncomfortable, but I think so many are like this in Kyoto- this was still the best choice for us being so close to the train station. My only negative was being right next to the lift/elevator, it was a little noisy in the morning. But considering we were right next to it- it could have been worse. Breakfast was traditional japanese which we struggled with a bit (love Japanese food but rice and sushi for breakfast is not for us). Only thing we could enjoy was boiled eggs and toast.
Perfect location, but overshadowed by one extremely unprofessional staff member We stayed at this hotel for four nights, and the location is truly impeccable. The rooms and cleanliness were also quite reasonable for our stay. However, the experience was significantly marred by the incredibly impolite attitude of a male front desk staff member (short hair, wearing a grey suit). It was, unfortunately, the most unpleasant service experience we have ever had in Japan. While we were waiting in the lobby with our luggage, he made eye contact with us but remained completely indifferent, offering no initiative to help. The situation worsened when we discussed the "Airporter" delivery service. Without clarifying the destination, he assumed we were sending bags to the airport and prepared a slip. When I explained that we needed a hotel-to-hotel transfer, he reacted with visible aggression—tearing up the paper and tossing it away right in front of me with an extremely annoyed and impatient expression. While he did not say it out loud, his facial expressions and dramatic gestures made it very clear that he felt I was wasting his time. This level of visible hostility is something we have never encountered in all our trips to Japan. It is a shame because the other front desk staff were wonderful, patient, and polite, but this one individual’s behavior was completely unacceptable.
