The meals were quite impressive with the great variety of food and all high quality. There was even a bakery side with delicious pastry and the food was quite international with many dishes from different part of the world. The swimming pool was also an excellent addition to our stay. Considering that you also have free drinks in the lounge at a certain time of the evening, the public bath and area were to play with kids of ping pong, I think this hotel has all you need for a relaxing stay with your family. We have been here a few times already because also the price is decent compared to other places and we will go back for sure. It is easier of you have a car because it will be hard to move around the surrounding area without one, I think Only cons is the check in time. I know it is common to have the check in at 15:00 in Japan bit this means there is not much time to enjoy the pool if you are staying only for one night. If you want to do an early check in there is also a hefty fee so I though that in particular was a pity especially when going around with a toddler.

Location wise it is ok. Everything actually is ok. The thing that is not ok is that they have a time frame for everything. I am not a prisoner and I don’t find that ok. Like they stop the lounge and the public bath at 11, that you have to choose to go to either. The breakfast is latest at 8:30 but we check out at 12; the public bath stops at 9:00. Have the management at Mercure actually visited the hotels? This is absolutely not recommendable.
Avoid at all costs. Stayed in summer 2026, and upgraded to a large Japanese style suite. However the air conditioning unit is broken. Ask the front desk, and was told the entire hotel is on one AC control unit. However, due to its old age, air conditioning is not controlled individually by room and it cannot be turned on at all. In other words, this hotel has no AC during summer time in scorching heat. It has recently joined Accor group, and all services are reduced to save costs. Worst hotel experience in my 20+ years traveling in Japan.
Mercure Miyazu is a lovely, highly accommodating ryokan resort with very spacious rooms. It is incredibly family-friendly—they even provide kids' amenities inside the onsen! There is a small indoor play area with simple wooden blocks for younger children, and plenty of activities like rentable bicycles, table tennis, and outdoor tennis. A delightful highlight was their small on-site strawberry farm! Incredible service from start to finish. Highly recommended for families!
For 75 USD (12,000 yen) it’s a solid stay. Like others mentioned, the hotel is showing its age from its glory bubble era days but compared to other “bubble era” resorts, I was really impressed. Some considerations to help you make decision: 1. Sleep: Comfortable hard bed, sheets were warm so you can open window and feel the breeze, but the pillows are your standard Japanese business hotel size pillows. Onsen was “okay” it does the job. 2. Food: Definitely bring snacks / food with you if you plan to stay here +8 hours as there’s nothing around and you can’t buy snacks here. The BREAKFAST BUFFET is AMAZING but it gets super busy at 7am. 3. Train Timing: They provide bus schedule for pick up and drop off but I’ve observed it doesn’t line up nicely with some trains. The bus pickup is efficient and comfy. It gets busy so you may not get the morning shuttle right away. Personally, I walked back to Miyazu on foot and it took me a solid 90 minute walk. It was gorgeous and safe to walk along the bay. If I was looking for a place to stay for the night in the area, I’d consider doing it again.
