We had an average stay, but several issues kept this from being a hotel we would choose again. The positives were that the hotel was clean, the location was convenient for getting around Kyoto, and the price initially seemed like a good value. Unfortunately, our experience was overshadowed by several disappointments. The biggest issue was that the hotel required us to book a second room for our teenage son, even though the room we originally reserved could have comfortably accommodated all three of us. We would have been perfectly happy sharing the room, so this unexpected policy added more than $200 to our trip that we had not budgeted for. Even with two rooms, the rooms themselves were quite small and felt cramped. The breakfast buffet was also disappointing. The selection was limited, and when we arrived around 9:20 a.m., even though breakfast was served until 10:00 a.m., several items had already run out and were not replenished. We specifically asked about the sausage, and after waiting, they brought out only six sausage links that appeared to have been microwaved. A hotel should continue to fully stock its breakfast buffet until the advertised closing time. Another disappointment was the late checkout policy. Unlike many hotels that offer a complimentary one-hour extension when available, this hotel charged 2,200 yen for checkout at noon. While the hotel was clean and reasonably priced, the extra room requirement, cramped accommodations, poor breakfast experience, and inflexible checkout policy significantly impacted our stay. There are many hotels in Kyoto, and based on our experience, I would likely choose a different one next time.

Loved this hotel absolutely central to almost everything. Direct access via city bus to and from Kyoto station. Price was so good! We stayed 3 nights and got a king size room bed. Room was a little tight but modestly because of the size of the bed. My husband and I were very comfortable plenty of space for us and our luggage.
I really liked the stylish room at Keio Prelia Hotel Kyoto Karasuma Gojo, and the onsen spa was a great bonus after a day out in Kyoto. The room amenities were thoughtful, and the mattress was much more comfortable than what I usually find in Japanese hotels. The location also made it easy to get around, with Kyoto Station close by and plenty within reach.
Highly Recommended for Family Stay I highly recommend this hotel, especially for families. We traveled as a group of four and stayed in a spacious room with four beds and two bathrooms, which was extremely convenient — no waiting time at all! Before check-in, the hotel informed us that housekeeping would normally be provided every three days for longer stays or larger groups. However, during our stay, the room was actually cleaned every day, which we truly appreciated. We’re not sure if we misunderstood the policy or if the staff kindly made an exception, but it was a very pleasant surprise. Pajamas were included, and bed sheets could be changed upon request. The hotel also has a public bath, although we didn’t have a chance to try it. The bathroom amenities were excellent. The soap, shampoo, and conditioner were surprisingly high quality — they left my hair smooth, not frizzy, and smelled very elegant. One thing our family absolutely loved was the hand foam that could also be used as a facial cleanser. The scent was amazing! My mother liked it so much that she even asked the staff where to buy it, but unfortunately we couldn’t find the brand (Fiesta) afterward. Even though the hotel is located next to the main road, the room was very quiet. There is a FamilyMart and a pharmacy nearby, which made everything very convenient. The staff communicated well in English and were always helpful and welcoming. The hotel is about a 10-minute taxi ride from Kyoto Station, making transportation easy. Highly recommended — we would definitely stay here again!
The hotel is clean and well managed. There is a separation between the bathroom and the toilet. They provide an amenity in the room. The lobby is always packed with people. I saw people wait in line for breakfast. The windows have no view. The washing machine is not enough for guests, and the dryer machine didn't dry my clothes properly. It felt not quite like a warm welcome here. The location seems interesting, just 1 stop from Kyoto Station. The neighbourhood itself at first glance seems to be so touristy, but if you walk around the alley, it turns out the neighbourhood is cool and has many great restaurants and interesting shops. Easy to walk to Daimaru and the shopping street. There is an exit with an elevator, but you have to cross the intersection. There are many bus stops nearby.
