We had a wonderful stay at Hilton Garden Inn Kyoto Shijo Karasuma. The hotel was comfortable, welcoming, and the staff made a real effort to make our family feel taken care of. A special thank you to Chisato, who was assisting during breakfast. She was incredibly kind and went out of her way to prepare a thoughtful birthday celebration for our son. The little cake and candle were such a sweet surprise and made the morning very special for him and for us. We also really appreciated the front desk staff, who helped address an issue during our stay and handled it professionally and thoughtfully. Their effort made the rest of our stay even better. The kindness and attention from the staff really stood out. We would happily stay here again and would definitely recommend this hotel to families visiting Kyoto

My family and I recently returned from a trip to Japan, and we had a great stay at the Hilton Garden Inn Kyoto Shijo Karasuma. I booked our stay using a combination of Hilton Honors points and my card, and I am also a Hilton Diamond member. At check-in, we were pleasantly surprised to find out that we had received a Diamond member upgrade to a Twin Deluxe Family Room since one was available. The woman who helped us at the front desk was extremely friendly, patient, and helpful. Unfortunately, I forgot her name, but she was the staff member with a birthmark on her face. She took the time to answer all of our questions and made sure my Diamond benefits were recognized throughout the check-in process. It was a great first impression of the hotel. The room itself was clean, comfortable, and surprisingly spacious, especially for a hotel room in Japan. It had twin beds along with a separate living room area, which gave our family plenty of room to spread out. Before we arrived, the staff had also replaced the table and chairs in the living area with additional futons. This was a very thoughtful touch because it meant everyone in our family had their own comfortable place to sleep instead of having to share beds. The room also had a beautiful view, which made the stay even more enjoyable. Breakfast was probably one of the weaker parts of the stay. I would not say it was bad, but the selection and overall quality were not anything exceptional. That being said, I still thought it was better than the average breakfast I have experienced at many Hilton properties in the United States, so we were generally satisfied with it. One unusual experience during our stay was having the fire alarm go off in the middle of the night. We were told there was a fire on the eighth floor, so everyone had to evacuate the hotel. Obviously, nobody wants to deal with something like that while traveling, but I thought the hotel staff and local fire department handled the situation well. The evacuation did not last very long, and we were eventually allowed to return to our rooms. I would not consider this a negative reflection on the hotel since unexpected emergencies can happen anywhere. My only real complaint was the laundry situation. There are only four washing machines for the entire hotel, and they seemed to be occupied almost every time we wanted to use them. The good news is that the television in the room has a feature that allows you to check the availability and status of the washing machines in real time, which saves you from repeatedly going downstairs to check. It was ultimately a minor inconvenience, but something worth knowing if you are staying for several days and plan on doing laundry. If you bring enough clothes for your entire stay, this probably will not affect you at all. Overall, we had a very comfortable and enjoyable stay at the Hilton Garden Inn Kyoto Shijo Karasuma. The friendly staff, Diamond member recognition, spacious family room, additional futons, cleanliness, and overall comfort made it a great hotel for our family. Aside from the limited laundry facilities and an average breakfast, there was very little to complain about. I would definitely stay here again on a future trip to Kyoto and would recommend it to families, Hilton Honors members, and anyone looking for a comfortable hotel with good service in Kyoto.
We had a wonderful stay at the Hilton Kyoto. Our room was spacious, modern, very well equipped, and had a fantastic view. Everything was spotless and exactly as you would expect from a hotel of this standard. We accidentally left our power adapter in the room after checking out and came back the next day to ask about it. It hadn’t been found yet, but the hotel later contacted us by email to let us know that it had turned up. We really appreciated the effort and attentive service! Overall, a great experience from start to finish. We would definitely stay here again!
All of the hotel staff were very helpful and knowledgeable. Kayoko at reception went above and beyond to make sure our stay was enjoyable. The facilities were of a very high standard and having laundry facilities to wash & dry your clothes was a huge bonus. We had 2 rooms and Kayoko made sure the rooms were next to each other. The bedrooms were well equipped but could have done with more english tv channels. The breakfast had a very good variety and catered for all tastes. I would definitely stay here again.
Hilton Garden Inn Kyoto is a great-value hotel with an excellent location. It’s close to Nishiki Market, which makes it very convenient to explore Kyoto, especially if you enjoy walking around and trying local food. The staff were very friendly and helpful throughout my stay. One thing I really liked was the welcome amenities at the lobby—there’s a machine that provides complimentary chocolate, tea, and coffee, which is a nice touch after a long day outside. The room was comfortable, although a bit tight. I stayed in a triple room, and with three beds inside, there wasn’t much space to fully open our luggage. That said, it was still manageable since we mostly used the room just for resting. Also, it’s quite understandable, as hotel rooms in Japan are generally compact. Another highlight for me was the facilities. The hotel has a gym that is free for guests, which I really appreciated. The coin laundry was also very useful, especially for longer stays. Breakfast was delicious with a good variety of options to choose from, making it a great way to start the day. Overall, I had a pleasant stay and would definitely recommend this hotel for its location, comfort, and value.
