Disappointing experience, especially considering the price !! I was expecting much more from Ace Hotel Kyoto, and unfortunately, I am leaving quite disappointed. My main issue is how overcrowded the hotel feels. Breakfast was a struggle almost every morning, with long waits just to get a table. And honestly, the breakfast itself wasn’t great either. Small portions, limited set menus and nothing particularly impressive in terms of quality. Same story with dinner: if you want to eat at their meat restaurant, you need to book well in advance as it’s usually full. The rooms are quite small and, although the design is nice, there’s really nothing special about them considering what you’re paying. The gym is almost ridiculous for a hotel of this size and price, with just a few machines and very limited equipment. Definitely not somewhere you can have a proper workout (I know… not why you are travelling to Kyoto but still..). Housekeeping was also disappointing. Several times, my room still hadn’t been cleaned after 2pm.. I was also surprised by how little help I received when asking for restaurant recommendations, especially on my last evening. The only exception was Jean, who was lovely and recommended a great sushi restaurant. She really deserves a special mention! The rest of the staff was unhelpful on several occasions… On the positive side, I loved the coffee shop downstairs, the live music and the overall atmosphere. It’s a cool place to hang out, and I can see why people enjoy coming here. It feels like the hotel is more focused on being a trendy, busy social spot than actually taking care of its guests. At this price, I would expect a much better level of service, more attention to detail and a more comfortable stay overall. Nice atmosphere, but definitely not worth the money in my opinion. Anyhow thanks for having me and at least the location was great to discover the beautiful city of Kyoto !!

I almost never leave reviews, but I felt compelled to— as this was one of the more pleasant stays I’ve ever had. The ACE hotel Kyoto is a special place. Located perfectly with a metro stop in the building (ideal for escaping the summer heat). An understated luxury that feels almost effortless and uniquely Japanese defines the grounds, typified by an amazing garden and ample natural space. We dined at the Italian restaurant and split a delicious pizza and pasta. The daily breakfast features 5 or 6 pleasant options and an attentive restaurant staff. The shower and tub are top notch with great water pressure and high end soaps. The mini bar is complete and well priced compared to what we are used to in the United States. The bed, itself, was well sized for Japan. The hallmark of a wonderful stay, for us at least, is a quickly settling feeling of sadness upon leaving; only to be replaced by a yearning for another stay at the ACE hotel Kyoto. We hope it will be soon!
I mean - if you would like an amazing hotel, with great VIBES, great location - THIS IS THE PLACE! I was able to get this hotel through Chase and the edit system they have. I was upgraded once I checked in, I had free breakfast, and I had a credit I used at the restaurants! I was also given a welcome gift in my room upon arrival. Breakfast- AMAZING! Italian- AMAZING! Coffee - AMAZING My view from my hotel was good. The location was also amazing - 10-15 minutes walking from the center of everything. The hotel decorations and vibe was off the charts! In your room you get a speaker and I used it everyday! The beds - comfy! The bathroom - beyond! If you all can’t already tell - I HIGHLY recommend this place. I was very sad to go, but I will be back!!
I had a wonderful stay at Ace Hotel Kyoto. The overall atmosphere, design, and location were all excellent, and I really enjoyed my time there. I would especially like to express my sincere appreciation to the front office manager, Ms. Mari Takeda. Her professionalism and kindness truly stood out during my stay. She handled everything with great attention to detail and made me feel genuinely welcomed and well taken care of. Her service added a very personal and positive touch to the overall hotel experience. Thanks to her and the team, my stay in Kyoto was even more memorable. I would happily stay here again and highly recommend this hotel to other travelers.
Modern, hip hotel geared towards a younger crowd, but with enough older guests to not make anyone uncomfortable. This is not a plush place, but a fun, upbeat hotel with an Italian restaurant, a Mexican restaurant, the upscale Kosa restaurant, and an indoor/outdoor bar lounge upstairs. The folks working the lobby desk double as reception and concierge and are good at doing both. English was not a problem here. The King guest room was spacious with American plugs, usb ports, a large glassed in shower next to a tub, and a sliding door separating the toilet from the sink area. All rooms feature a safe, a refrigerator filled to overflowing with optional cost items, a hair dryer, and travel amenities should you need a toothbrush, toothpaste, or Q-tips. This hotel is within a 10 minute walking distance of a ton of shops and restaurants. They even have a book of recommended restaurants with walking distances. The Nishini market is a 15 minute walk away and the Gion district is a 22 minute walk away. If you are tired of Japanese food and seek a great, reasonably priced option, make a reservation (yes, it’s necessary as it’s a small place) at La Boucle just down the street. The chef is the owner, the fixed menu superb and the French wine is good. Plus, if you are lucky, the owner will play a few melodies on his piano. I would definitely stay here again as it was convenient, comfortable, and extremely well run.
