Great experience, very interesting park, history, geology, snorkeling, turtle nesting beach, knowledgeable and friendly guide. Managed two languages, Dutch and English. 7 people in the safari truck, no problem. Glad we took this tour.

This tour was fantastic. Our tour guide was so knowledgeable about the park, different wildlife, and the sites we saw along the way! He was friendly and helpful. Our car sat 8 people, two in front and six in the back. We were picked up from our hotel and dropped back off at the end. At the start we were offered tea and coffee and there was plenty of water throughout the trip. We visited a beautiful snorkel site and borrowed masks from them which were in good working order. Then we stopped for an amazing lunch set up by the tour group along with beer and wine. The day was long and full of different experiences. We were so glad to have done this tour.
The trip to National Park made us appreciate Bonaire even more. We were picked up and dropped off to our Airbnb. Our tour guide, John, has been very informative and shared a lot of amazing details about the nature and history of Bonaire. The ride was bumpy but it was all worth it, especially being able to do the snorkeling at Wayaka beach. Even our little one enjoyed all of it. We are glad to have included this as a part of our trip.
I was a solo traveler and the only American but like someone else stated in a prior review John did the tour in both English and Dutch. I always felt comfortable and even sat in the front because I do get motion sickness. I only took one Dramamine. It’s definitely hot so bring water plus they have water and a light lunch and tea and coffee with a snack. I learned a lot about Bonaire today. I am glad I went on this excursion. I would recommend it to a friend.
Collected from the hotel promptly. Email upon booking was informative. Eddie our guide was approachable, friendly and provided excellent information in both perfect English , and I imagine perfect Dutch:-) . This was a fun adventure, the jeep type vehicle was bumpy and fun. If you have any pain management issue do not even consider visiting this park even in your own vehicle . I really feel that I got to see the park , the snorkel experience allowed for ample time, the lunch break was leisurely and I could have had a swim break if wanted due to the amount of time allowed. I took a nice cliff climb. All in all this was a 5 star experience.
We had an incredible adventure on this 4x4 tour. The experience took us through a stunning variety of landscapes, from cactus-filled terrain and rugged rocky areas to strikingly beautiful views and crystal-clear waters. Along the way, we saw flamingos, exotic birds, iguanas, and even heard the unique calls of local wildlife, making the journey feel even more immersive and authentic. The changing colors of the water were absolutely breathtaking, especially near the snorkeling spots where the sea turned into vivid shades of turquoise and deep blue. The snorkeling itself was a highlight—crystal-clear water with great visibility and a peaceful, untouched feel. Every stop along the way offered something different and memorable. Our guide, Eddy, was exceptional: thoughtful, knowledgeable, and genuinely service-oriented. They made sure everyone was comfortable, informed, and enjoying the experience throughout the day. Overall, this was a fantastic mix of adventure, nature, and relaxation. Highly recommended for anyone looking to explore the area in a fun and unique way.
When the day started out, I wasn't sure I made the right decision to book this excursion. We were the only English speaking people in the vehicle, and because we were picked up last, we only had the option of sitting in the closed front seat. I almost cancelled, and our guide, John, talked me into staying. And boy am I glad I did. First off, everyone in the vehicle agreed to have John speak English for the day, so there was no language issue. Everyone was super welcoming and we never felt like the Third Wheels. Sitting in the front with John felt like a private tour. We saw so much in one day and learned things we never would have known if we had done this tour on our own. So much about the history, the culture, the geography, the economy, and the ecology of Bonaire. The stops were glorious and the timing was spot on -- just enough time at each location. Lunch was delicious as well. I have absolutely no complaints about this excursion and it was worth every dime. And John --- if you are reading this, thank you. You truly made me feel like family. Hope you enjoyed the Cheez-Its! With love from "The Americans" -- Elisabeth and Bill
I had the best time and my guide was wonderful. I learned a lot and would highly recommend this tour.
The park itself is a must see. The guide from Adventure Bonaire was fantastic (John)!! HOWEVER, Adventure Bonaire completely dropped the ball. They never confirmed a pickup time until I wrote to them the day before. Then THEY NEVER SHOWED UP even though I received confirmation and tickets from Viator AND confirmation from Adventure Bonaire the day before. It resulted in a waste of vacation time (waited 1 1/2 hours, and called with no answer, frustration AND additional cost to rent a car so we did not waste the entire day. We ended up rescheduling on the last day of our vacation. Not a well run business. DO see this park with a tour group. DO NOT use Adventure Bonaire if you want it to go smoothly. However, again, the tour guide himself was good.
The views were breathtaking. Our guide was friendly, funny, and very knowledgeable of the park and history of Bonaire. The snorkeling was also beautiful. I would highly recommend doing this park on a guided tour.
Super convenient and easy way to see the national park if you don’t have a car. Guide very knowledgable and friendly. We saw a number of great sites - would recommend.
My parents and I had a wonderful time on the Washington Slagbaai National Park Jeep Tour! Eddie was our tour guide and he was very kind, hospitable, and knowledgeable! We learned so much about Bonaire, specifically its history and conservation efforts. The snorkeling was amazing, the lunch was yummy, and we even got to see flamingos! Eddie also put a carton down so it made for easy entry into the jeep. This was a trip of a lifetime and I can’t wait to return to Bonaire! ❤️🏝️🇧🇶
The Park is interesting and beautiful, and the tour gives you an opportunity to see many places at a good pace and with useful comments from the guide. A good snorkeling stop is included. You will see flamingos, too. Well organized, professional, friendly, strongly recommended.
This is a must do if visiting Bonaire. Eddie was great! He was knowledgeable, very safety conscious and allowed us to have a comfortable experience. The biodiversity is amazing in this park; park is well maintained and worth your time. Snorkeling was exceptionally good. Very thoughtful arrangements by the tour guide.
Don’t miss this tour! We learned so much about the area plus photos will never truly capture the beauty of the area. The snorkeling spot was simply stunning. Our guide Eddy was very knowledgeable, helpful, and kept everyone engaged. The lunch was plentiful and delicious. A great way to spend the day!
We really enjoyed our tour with Bonaire Adventure Makers. Eddy our guide was exceptional. He clearly loves what he does and his passion for the Island shows through. He has colorful stories, lots of knowledge on the history and also local intel. We had a small rental car and after reading various reviews agree 100% that doing a tour is the way to go. We would have definitely not have been able to navigate the roads in the park as they are at times challenging. Our snorkel stop was a perfect intermission and a great way to cool down and rinse off the dust. Lunch was tasty and water, sodas, wine and beer were offered as beverages. We learnt so much and it was a great day out and totally stress free as everything is done for you. Eddy really made our day and it has definitely been our highlight on this trip.
We had a fabulous day at the park with an awesome guide, Eddie, who was super knowledgeable and very fun! Scenery here is ruggedly beautiful. Water and snorkelling was great. Awesome day!
Really enjoyed the trip through the park. Got a lot of great info all day from our guide John. This excursion is definitely worth doing. Note that the tour description says you can opt for a hike, which we were interested in, but that was not an option we were given. Also be ready for a bumpy ride - the dirt and rock roads are rough. Very glad we did the excursion instead of trying to drive through this park ourselves. Well worth it.
A beautiful and rewarding experience—with a few things to know ahead of time. We did the shorter route through Washington Slagbaai National Park and hiked Brandaris, and it ended up being one of the highlights of our trip. The views from the top are absolutely worth it, but be prepared—it gets a bit challenging near the top with a steeper, rockier climb. Bring plenty of water. The heat and sun exposure are no joke, and the park does not allow hiking after noon for safety reasons, which says a lot. The drive through the park is very rough and bumpy, so take your time and be prepared for that. There is a bathroom stop about halfway through the short route, which is helpful. Overall, an incredible experience if you’re prepared. Highly recommend for anyone looking to explore the natural side of Bonaire.
Glad we did the guided tour vs doing it on our own. Our tour guide, Eddie, was awesome. He was very knowledgeable and taught us things about the island, it's people, animals and plants. He also made extra stops along the way to tell about certain things. Great experience!!
a different way to see Bonaire beautiful views our guide Eddie was very nice and informative we learned a lot
Best tour we did in Bonaire. Eddie was the best guide and so fun to spend the day with. Unbelievable, the natural diversity in the park. Loved all of it. The park is beautiful! Worth the STINAPA entry fee too.
Our guide Eddie was wonderful and provided so much information about the island and its history. We enjoyed every stop, especially the snorkeling which was the best we have seen so far in Bonaire. The provided food and drinks were great. Highly recommend this tour!
Great overview of the park, fun guide Eddy. Fun to visit the blowhole, see both coasts, hear the history, etc. Only comment is that I was in the back of a bumpy jeep, lots of potholes, more uncomfortable than I expected even though I knew the roads would be rough. (I’m seeing my chiropractor Monday!)
Beautiful hike to the ocean. Saw blowhole wave, flamingos, tiny shells and the old wall. Be sure to have a lot of water. There is zero shade. Cover up.
We went to the Washington Slagbaai park twice - once to do the short route to get to snorkeling for the day, and another to do the long route to check out the park. Abundance of cacti/cactuses around, some birds if patient enough, and there is lots to see in terms of landscapes and historical sites. Check in may take a while depending on number of people and whether they have their affairs in order (STINAPA fee for park can be purchased ahead of time). Be warned though, the park is very bumpy and you will need an SUV with AWD to traverse the pathway. There are great sites but it does require a commitment of a good part of the day to fully enjoy, especially if you want to snorkel that same trip, so plan accordingly.
We had a great time. Learned a lot. Much better than driving ourselves. Always enjoy Eddy’s stories.
Very reasonable price. The guide, Eddy was very good and knowledgeable. He stuck to the schedule and the pickup and drop-off were right on time
This is a must see for Bonaire. The landscape is completely different and the tour is more than worth it. John, our guide, was awesome 👌
The tour was amazing, I enjoyed every minute of it. Eddy was very much on time for the pick-up at my hotel, he did the commentary in English and Dutch, in a very amusing way. I learned a lot and am glad to have done this tour. Would highly recommend to get to places of the island you would otherwise only see with your own car.
Our tour with John was absolutely incredible! He picked us up from our resort right on time and greeted us with such warmth that we immediately felt at ease. Throughout the day, he made every guest feel genuinely seen and respected. John’s knowledge of the history, geology, and wildlife of Washington Slagbaai National Park is remarkable. I left with a deep appreciation for this unique and beautiful area of Bonaire. His ability to blend intelligence, hospitality, and humor made the experience engaging from start to finish. We also had plenty of opportunities to take photos, and any time I attempted a selfie, John was already there offering to capture an even better shot of me and my husband. The day began with coffee or tea, a light breakfast snack, and a visit to the museum—an excellent introduction to the park’s story. Then we set out in a military‑grade vehicle, which added a fun and adventurous touch to the journey. The landscape came alive through John’s explanations. Even if you researched beforehand, driving the park on your own simply wouldn’t compare—there’s so much you’d miss without a guide like him. Snorkeling at Wayaka Beach was another highlight. The water was stunning, and once again, John had fresh water and snacks waiting for us afterward. Lunch was a lovely picnic at the Old Harbor and Historic Buildings. The food was great, and we never felt rushed—neither while snorkeling nor during our meal. Our group required two vehicles, but John and his colleague worked seamlessly together to keep the tour flowing comfortably. Washington Slagbaai National Park is truly special, and having a knowledgeable guide makes all the difference. You absolutely get your money’s worth with this experience. I’m sure there are many good guides on the island, but John is exceptional. You would be lucky to book him. My husband and I still talk about this tour—don’t pass it up!
It's a great way to travel the National Park, you don't have to worry about your car and don't have to look for the road. Food, Drinks and Drop-off is included, wich Safes a lot of money. You See Places you would probably miss and get a lot of extra Information. The Guids excatly know where to stay and Keep you safe. 10/10 best view i have seen so far!
Great way to experience the park without having to drive. You get to look at things instead of the road while having everything explained to you. The snorkeling stop seemed short at first but then you're on Bonaire and probably going to be snorkeling a lot elsewhere. Lunch was good and the beer was cold! Our guide John was amusing and passionate about the nature in the park.
The description of the tour was misleading: it said we would snorkel twice, and we would take a hiking trip. We were only given a snorkeling option twice and there was no hiking (in fact, our guide declared "who would want to hike in this sun" - as if sun is not a frequent thing on tropical island). Several other people in our group commented on misleading description of this trip and I hope they also leave the corresponding reviews. In addition to that, our tour guide started on a wrong foot with me telling me rudely something like "open your ears to listen more attentively" when I asked him about something I hadn't understood. This upset my husband a lot and I tried for a long time to calm him down saying this tour guide didn't know any better. Actually he should know how to talk to the customers, especially after working with customers for as many years as he was telling us. He also claimed he was humble and had his way with people but we didn't observe these qualities in him that much. And another huge issue was that the tour guide spoke more Dutch to the Dutch members of our group than English to the rest of us. If the tour is in two languages, it needs to be put into the description. Overall the tour was ok but I wouldn't recommend others spending 7 hours on it.
Eddy our guide entertained and educated us while we bumped up and down in his trusty jeep along the dirt roads of the National park. That is until we spring a flat tire, he had us back in the road shortly after. We had the best snorkel experience on the excursion. Saw huge parrot fish, like everywhere the coral has died. If you like nature, birds, flamingos this is the excursion you should not miss.
The park was very awesome! We got to see plenty of natural wildlife and spent much of the day snorkelling on the shores! Lots of flamingos, iguanas, and more! We took a guided tour, and learnt so much about the island!
Amazing tour with an amazing guide! Next to some history plenty of lovely spots to capture, if you are in Bonaire its a must do!
This tour was informative and enjoyable! We appreciated being picked up at our hotel and the excursion being narrated in both English and Dutch. We were able to visit the most notable points in the park, and even stopped at a beautiful beach location for swimming/snorkeling. Serving lunch, snacks, and drinks was also a nice touch. Both of our tour guides were accommodating, knowledgeable, and friendly. A memorable experience that was definitely worth it!
Pay the $$. You cannot do this tour alone in a rental. Eddy was great. Picked us up at the hotel and dropped us off after. His vehicle was basically a modified military 6x6. And boy were we happy to be in it There was rain the night before and the big truck traversed the dirt roads and mud puddles with no issues. Couldn't imagine trying that in a rental on my own. Great history/geology/biology experience. Plus we got lunch and 2 great snorkeling opportunities. Totally worth the $$.
Eddy was an amazing guide. We learned all about the Island, its history and future. Wonderful trip through the park. Snacks and lunch provided- also excellent. Small group so we all go to know each other. Snorkel spot was the best with 3ft parrot fish!! A must do for an amazing day on Bonaire.
From resort pick-up to resort drop-off, the tour was amazing. The park is absolutely beautiful. Our guide was extremely knowledgeable about the island overall (its histiry, people, culture, places to go, and of course it's nature).
We had car trouble in the national park and Adventure Makers Bonaire were there to help get us back to the park entrance. They allowed us to join an existing tour and provided us with food/drink options along the way. Genuinely good human beings who also provide a great and informative tour of the park. Cannot recommend highly enough! Thank you!!
This was the perfect ending to an amazing vacation!!! We ended up doing the "long road" and saw tectonic plates, fossils, 2 blow holes and some ruins before we stopped for a snorkel at SlagBaai Beach. We got to the park about 1pm. This was NOT enough time! Make sure you are there early and make sure you have plenty of water and snacks as neither are available in the park. Along the road (very bumpy road!!!) we saw dozens of Crested Caracara, iguanas, parrots, flamingos and goats. The snorkel at the beach was short due to time, but we saw the largest parrot fish we've ever seen!!! We did not have time to snorkel at Wakaya 2, but that looked the best of all the reefs! We will definitely be back for another visit! (DO NOT JUMP OFF THE CLIFF AT SLAGBAAI~VERY SHALLOW AND FIRE CORAL SURROUNDS)
This was a wonderful trip to enjoy with my adult daughter! Not only were all of the sites spectacular, but Eddie and Joop were/are amazing. Learned so much about Bonaire ; it’s history, anti dotes, flora and fauna, birds and were able to answer any of our questions. They had a wonderful sense of humor and their zest for life always with a contagious smile and laughter. Their Bonaire attitude is one of greatest gifts of all which is slow down, enjoy life and think positively! Can’t recommend enough!
Beautiful tour through the national park Washington Slagbaai. Spectacular varied nature and history of it. Not a single moment of not interesting. Actual information too about developments. We were taken good care of by Eddy. And Eddy is an encyclopedia on nature and on birds, plants, culture, customs, food, traditions, society, developments on Bonaire, you name it, Eddy knows out of own experience. .
We had a fantastic experience on the Washington Slagbaai National Park Tour! The variety of activities kept things interesting—from dramatic coastal views and wildlife spotting to a relaxing snorkeling stop that ended up being a highlight of our day. Lunch was also great and gave us a chance to refuel before continuing. What we especially appreciated was the flexibility to opt in or out of different activities—perfect for a mixed group with varying energy levels. The wind was strong at times, but honestly, it helped keep the day cool and comfortable. Our guide, Eddy, was friendly, knowledgeable, and very safety-conscious, which made us feel well taken care of throughout the trip. If you're looking for a way to explore a wilder side of Bonaire without having to drive the rugged park roads yourself, this tour is a perfect choice!
We had such a great day at the park. We took the long route and made sure we snorkeled where they said was the best place to snorkel and it did not disappoint. We were glad that we rented a truck to go through the park because it was a pretty bumpy ride, but so much fun!
Eddie was a great tour guide and spoke to us with care and knowledge. He explained the history around the park and showed us different types of trees. The park was very pretty and each sight was beautiful. The souvenir store was small but had a lot of nice items which we purchased. Lunch was also good - bread, deli meats, salad and fruit. We would recommend this tour to people. Thank you for guiding and driving us around the park.
Amazing tour that you can’t do alone. Pace and schedule is all timed well. Incredible sights and entertaining tour guide! Snorkeling was out of this world for a raw beginner! Note only a few bathroom stops at beginning and end of tour due to rural nature. Bring a huge bottle of your own water because you will need it.
Excellent trip, well-organised. Good guides? Looked after everyone. Explained what we were going to see, very knowledgeable. Felt very comfortable with them.
