Stanislaw was an excellent guide, providing interesting information about the area. He made sure we had a relaxed enjoyable tour.

Itinerary
Visiting Zakopane is a perfect opportunity to learn about the wooden architecture of Podhale highlanders, and to see the beautiful villas in Zakopane style, which was inspired by the folklore of this region.
It is impossible to visit Zakopane and not go to Gubałówka (1123 metres above sea level) – the best known peak of the winter capital of Poland, as well as one of the best viewing points, from where you can see the Tatra Mountains, Zakopane and the entire Podhale region. You will ride the funicular to the top of Mount Gubałówka and spend 1 hour here to admire commanding views of the Tatras and Zakopane.
You will visit the most popular street Krupówki, which is a peculiar market of the city and its central point. Krupówki street is crowded with tourists who visit shops and go to restaurants located along the street. On this street you can find many traditional highlander items to buy, such as clothes and souvenirs, but also to eat. You will have some free time to spend over here.
Relaxation in the thermal water swimming pool complex (only in "Zakopane: Gubalowka, Thermal" option.

Visited Poland Krakow June 25 for the first time had an amazing experience. Tickets for TAURON Arena to see Scorpions Coming home tour 60 years for my Hubbys 60th bday in August who is a big big fan . Show was amazing the band looked really good for there age. Went to Zakopane thermal spa (views of mountains amazing) with Karrow direct tours. Our tour guide was Dominic who gave some interesting information on the area we visited up in the Zakopane region . Collected and drop off at our hotel. Start was an early one but worth it.
Really good day trip. Bart our tour guide was great and friendly. Zakapane was beautiful, it was very busy at the top of the mountain
The mountains were beautiful and the cheese tasting fun and delicious! Michal was entertaining and helpful with suggestions of restaurants in Zakopane.
Pawel was nice and Professional. The combination of mountains, cheese tasting and thermal springs was good. We really enjoyed it. Only negative: the transport bus had small seating between rows- the bus was full and we were in the back row-any one over 5’3” will have very cramped legs.
Too much time at the shopping area and the jacuzzi area. Need more time to visit the nature and mountains
Was a great day out, in my dreams since we were never picked up and didn’t get to go. We were advised by Viator the night before (when I was worried about the booking that everything was fine) then in the morning when we were awaiting pick up I was advised again everything is fine but they have between 9am and 9:50am to pick you up. 10am came and went and we were still waiting. We were advised to contact tour provider if any issues, when we done this we were very kindly informed that the tour has already left and didn’t know why we weren’t picked up. On asking if someone could take us and even just refund the difference of what was missed we were advised this wasn’t going to happen. As an ‘apology’ by the tour guide (please note not Viator) we were offered a day trip to the zoo or a transfer to the airport the following day. Viator are still to actually acknowledge that this is partly their fault as it was through them that the trip was booked!! Be careful with who you are booking with if it is something you really want to experience on your trip
Great trip lots to do and see well organised by your operator value for money. Interesting to see old houses and customs and cheese sampling
Our tour guide Krystian was absolutely fantastic. He was so friendly and full of life it really made our trip. The trip in itself was incredible too. The views in zakopane were phenomenal and the thermal spa was lovely.
I toured with Thousand Miles via Viator to Zakopane on Sept 9th, my birthday. Magda and Marcin surprised me with a Thousand Miles tour company gift and birthday toast. This was an unexpected joy. Marcin navigated the road construction and heavy traffic with skill and MUCH patience. Magda was a fantastic guide, sharing so much information about the sights, culture, and foods of the area. I highly recommend this tour company and especially recommend Magda and Marcin.
We really enjoyed our experience! Our guide Monika was very thoughtful and attentive. We would recommend to others!
The Zakopane Mountains and Hot Springs is a wonderful tour to do. The mountains are beautiful and the visit to the shepherd's hut was really special. However, what made this tour really fantastic was our driver, Monika. She is an absolute gem! She went above and beyond to ensure our comfort. She contacted our hotels ahead of time to remind us of our pick-up time and st the end of the day, she let us know 5 minutes ahead of time when we were coming up to our hotel for drop-off. She explained the schedule to us at certain points in the day so we knew what to expect, she was an excellent and safe driver, she surprised us with a snack for the ride home, and overall, she was very friendly, kind, and personable. Very hospitable. You could tell she really wanted us to have a great experience and that she enjoys working with her clients. A side note: my phone charger wasn't working (very inconvenient when travelling abroad) and when I mentioned this to Monika (because she sent us our funicular tickets through WhatsApp, so this was going to be difficult for me with a very low battery and no Wi-Fi), she went to the trouble of borrowing a charger from another guide so I could charge my phone AND she shared her Wi-Fi so I could download my ticket and get myself organized. Amazing!! It was so generous and kind of her to do this. Thank you, Monika, for being such a fantastic driver and guide! This tour was extra special because of you! :)
This trip was BEAUTIFUL. From stopping to try the cheese to taking Gubalowka up, to the views up top (breathtaking). Zakopane is beautiful 10/10. Eugene the driver was also great!!!
Great day out to the Tatra Mountains.Mido our guide was absolutely fantastic. He contacted me the day before to arrange our pick up. He was punctual and really helpful and pleasant. I would recommend this trip. We were fortunate to have a sunny day which made it even more enjoyable
A good trip out of the city - despite snowy, overcast weather. The highlights were the ride on the funicular, and swimming in the thermal baths.
The best excursion we have ever been on. It was so beautiful and so much fun, worth every penny. Our tour guide as well was just so passionate about the mountains and Zakopene in general which was so lovely to see, his name was Marek and he made our trip even better. We will 100% be doing this again
Definitely worth doing while visiting krakow, was one of our favourite days of the trip. Our guide Szczepan was very friendly and funny as well as informative, definitely made the experience more enjoyable!
I paid in person and was told that I needed to pay more than the list price because it was Christmas time and only 2 others booked the tour. However, every seat in the van was taken. The tour guide/driver was surly, got lost twice, was viewing the directions from his cell phone that was held between his legs - the cell phone holder was broken. I and others offered to hold the phone for him and he said no. Twice, the van rolled back into several of us when we were getting items from the back. I was told that I would be returned to Krakow by 6 pm - not true. Everyone but me apparently had booked a 2.5-hour additional excursion to a thermal bath. The thermal bath was closed when we arrived because it was Christmas Eve. The driver took us further away from Krakow to another thermal bath that was also closed - he didn't call them to ensure they were open. At the end of the trip tourists were arguing with the driver about their refund for the thermal bath - that was fun on Christmas eve! Because of the misinformation etc., I missed Christmas Eve dinner with my friend.
Krystian our guide was amazing. So thoughtful and informative. The scenery was beautiful. Would definitely recommend.
Hubert was so charming, helpful and sweet as our Tour Guide. The tour was well organized and gave plenty of time to do your own thing.
I will admit that the Zakopane was a little bit more "touristy" than I expected, as in there is a lot of people. But it has its own charm, so I think I can give it a pass. You are given a few hours to do what you want, so I recommend having somewhat of a small itinerary ready. You have plenty of bars and food options to choose from. There is plenty of shopping, with a mall a bit up the main street. The town of Chochołów is a nice distraction, but not too exciting. It is interesting to see how the highlanders live in their small community.
A nice guy picked us up with a lot of informations and teachings (to us Foreigners) . HIGHLY APPRECIATED by us.
Had the most amazing day with our guide Matthew from poland active he went above and beyond thank you. The weather was poor but he took us to different places then we stopped for lunch just outside zakopane I would recommend this trip
I can not recommend this tour enough which was made even better by our outstanding guide Krzysztof! His abundance of knowledge and enthusiasm made this trip one to remember. On the journey to Zakopane we had a comfort break, stopped at a traditional highlander house and even crossed the boarder into Slovakia. Arriving in Zakopane we had a coffee break/second breakfast and then visited the local museum. We then visited an original highlander church before riding the funicular to the top of Mt.Gubalowka. We witnessed amazing views and tucked into a tasty traditional goulash. We were then given free time to explore Zakopane before journeying back to Kraków.
Fantastic day trip. Our guide Jacek was very friendly and knowledgeable and kept us entertained the whole day
Our guide was the best guide I have ever had on a Viator tour. She was polite, funny and knew what she was talking about. I apologize for not remembering her name but I will never forget the memorable tour.
We booked this thinking it was just a ride to Zakopane and not much else. Our guide was Alexandra and she was excellent! She took us to this local sheep cheese maker and had lots of history and information on the area. She took us for a guided walk through the village and up to the top on the little tram and said “meet back at the station at 3” which was excellent because i had read on some reviews that guides go up and take groups straight back down. We had. About 2 hours of our own to explore. Definitely would recommend.
We were greeted at the pick up point by our guide Jacek and driver Marek. Both were very polite and professional. The weather throughout the day was awful but obviously that's just one of this things that can't be helped. Our guide Jacek was great, full of information and didn't stop from collection right through to being dropped off later on that day. With the weather being so bad Jacek did fantastically well making sure that the day was still an enjoyable one. First we stopped off at a place called Chochołów which was a small village where the majority of the houses were made out of wood. We called in to a typical "Highlander's" house where there was a bloke carving stuff out of wood. Was more interesting than it sounds. From there we stopped off at one of the many cheese making huts en route to Zakopane. Here we tried some of the cheeses and some of the incredibly strong vodka. After here we made it to Zakopane where we visited two churches and a cemetery. We then called in to a museum for approx 50 mins and then went for lunch and a wander around the town. After lunch we took the funicular railway to look at the mountains. As it was raining we didn't see a great deal but thats nobody's fault. Afterwards we took the funicular back down and wandered through the market at the bottom and then back to the bus. All things considered Jacek did an amazing job keeping us entertained and finding things of interest to do with the weather being so dreadful so I can only commend him for this.
Zakopane is a lovely town and the buildings are amazing. We went on the funicular up mount Gubaloka and even though the Tatra mountains opposite were covered in clouds we had an amazing view over the valley and Zakopane itself.
Well worth taking a day out to visit Zakopane. The scenery is stunning & there's plenty to do in the town or if you ride to the top on the train. Beware though even if you decide to walk down there's a charge???
One of the best tours we have been at. Jacek our tour guide really made a lot of effort to keep everyone entertained and made us laugh lots of times. His knowledge about Zakopane history and culture is outstanding we would definitely recommend this to anyone who wants to have a good time and learn about Polish history and culture. The trip went very smooth just too short!
The guide was terrific and told us lots of history about the highlanders; the weather was great and the visit to the wood carver and traditional homes was interesting. We were, however very disappointed with how touristy it was at the top of the funicular. We couldn’t believe how many stalls lined the route selling everything from souvenirs to rides on jumping castles. I think it would be much better if it was all a national park and you could do day or half day walks from the top of the funicular and enjoy the scenery.
Well organise, great company and good guide. From the moment we got on the bus we were made welcome. The guide was warm and friendly and was there to make our day as enjoyable as possible. The group of people were lovely and we soon made new friends. Our guide was very knowledgable and there were plenty of places to see and plenty of things to do. On a good day I think the views from the Tatra Mountain would be wonderful but if its raining I would take the option to stay in Zakopane and do some more exploring.
This was a great tour. The drive was a bit long but the countryside amazing and the guide Krzysztof Ciacma was awesome. Some much knowledge and passion for the history of Poland, the changing country side, and the Polish culture.
This was a smaller group tour from Krakow. It was about a 3 hr drive from the city, along mostly major highways. Unfortunately, the weather was rainy and chilly, but it did clear enough to get some great views! In the town, we had free time for lunch and shopping. The group visited an interesting little folklife museum, complete with an authentic wooden cabin. Our guide was very nice and informative, giving us a lot of background information on history, geography, etc of the area. A very enjoyable day, despite the weather.
Lovely day - wouldn’t change anything- nice to have plenty of free time in Zakopane. Alexandra was an excellent guide
Relaxing and informative tour. Beautiful views and plenty of small stores and good food. The schedule was faithfully fulfilled
Weather let this trip down but the tour guide more than made up for this. He was a wealth of information and was very interesting to listen to. We could not see the mountains as the mist was thick and it was raining which was a shame but the place itself was lovely.
The trip itself was great, our guide Matthew (Mateusz) was efficient and knew his stuff. He made sure that we saw all the main sights and organised our run up the mountain on the funicular railway. We had plenty of free time for lunch and shopping and looking at the architecture. The meadows and mountains are truly stunning. We had an unexpectedly beautiful day and made the very most of it. We had a small Mercedes bus seating about 15, clean and comfortable. Booking online was easy.
We had a nice small group, the tour guide was very informative and really accommodating to us having a two year old. We had a great time, highly recommend this tour company
Zakopane was a beautiful area with fantastic architecture and mountains - well worth the visit. But the tour itself was a bit disappointing. The pick up was punctual, the van and driver great and the guide good, however, there were some let-downs. We caught the cable car up to the top of the mountain for the stunning views but could only stay for about 15mins before we had to go down to see the church. I had to pay separately to go up again later to spend more time up there. After the church we had 3.5 hours to wander around the main street which has the same chain shops as any other town. Doing the church first then the mountain would make more sense so people can stay as long as they wish. There was mention of a museum but that did not happen - this could have filled in some of the free time. A couple more activities would be good to make it a better day.
WOW! What a trip!! About 2 hours to get there but we had a stop en route for a cheese tasting which was lovely!! Also a visit to the Zakopane traditional museum which was really interesting. The mountains are truly so picturesque and Zakopane is very lively and full of restaurants and bars plus lots of tourist shops. Well worth a trip!
What a lovely relaxed day out with the most wonderful driver and guide. He was so informative and helpful to my wife who needed a small bit of assistance through some icy parts on our walk. Showed us around every area we stopped and really went out of his way to make this such an enjoyable trip.
A nice day out - visit to a local carver in an old style village, ride on the funicular, and time to look around the town
If you have time spare this is definitely a trip worth making. It's a lovely little town and the mountains are absolutely beautiful. Tour guide was very knowledgable and we learned a lot, even about the broader history of Poland as well as current affairs.
i visited the tatra mountains from Krakow, the place itself was worth the journey, the scenery was amazing, their where lots of market stalls at the base of the mountains. selling all kinds of localy produced wares, our guide was very knowledgable and could talk the hind legs of a donkey. The town itself was very quaint, but rather steep.worth the walk. The only downside was the attitude of the servers in the restaurant, they seemed rather put out to having to serve us.In all it was a very nice trip.
It was a bad idea from the beginning, I guess. Jan 2 after a year-end concert drawing 50,000 to Zakopane who needed to return home ... then the weather ... “orange” status ( one shy of “red”). So, we never got to Zakopane. We were stuck in traffic going and coming for about 10 hrs. We did stop for lunch and a short walk on a mountain trail... So, why 5 stars? Because... 1) Our tour guide (Alessandra) was extremely professional given the circumstances. She helped us make the right decision to turn back when we did (we could still be stuck as I am writing this... it was THAT bad). She was calm, collected, and funny... and extremely respectful of our time and money. She did the best out of a really bad situation. 2) The quick response by Cracow Tours (Intercrac) and Viator (Trip Advisor) in refunding the entire payment made. By early next day (we arrived back in Krakow at 9 pm) we were refunded. I might never come back to Poland, but if I do, I will be sure to book this tour again.
Start point right by our hotel The Sheraton in mini van about 12 people. Guide very interesting clear and informative. Funicular trip included . We had lunch at the top. Small church with black Madonna copy and lovely graveyard is worth a visit. Multitude of artisan shops and cafes. Stopped at a village with lovely wooden houses on outward journey, Guide very clear on meeting times and places for return. Dropped off in town centre on return. A good day made excellent by the guide
Zakopane trip was excellent and we experienced a lot in the day. Our tour guide was superb and made the trip very enjoyable

Excellent tour all round. We were picked up in a coach and transported for 5 minutes to a more central meeting point, where we got on the mini bus for the tour Jacek Our guide was enthusiastic, engaging and full of life. I am guessing he has lead this tour many, many times before and yet he approached it as if it was all fresh information he was imparting for the 1st time, with his passion for the Polish dancers and their way of life really shining through. Zakopane is lovely, and the trip up the mountain to gaze upon the Tatra mountains was wonderful. There was snow on the rooftops and plenty of places to eat both at the top of the mountain and in Zakopane itself. Once you are up the mountains you are given free time to either stay up there, or descend and explore Zakopane. There is even a free Museum visit thrown in for those who fancy it.
