Wieliczka Salt Mine: Guided Tour From Krakow (With Hotel Pick-up)

Really interesting place, guide was excellent. Lots to see, the church carved from.salt was amazing. Lots of steps down and quite fast walking so you need to be reasonable agile. Driver from Cracow for you was really good. She even went to find an elderly single traveller who had got himself lost. Excellent communication throughout from.company and driver.

Piter the driver who collected us was very informative and funny, made a great effort to make us feel welcome. I think I enjoyed the pick up and drop off more than the salt mines which was impressive in ways. The guide at the mine was ok, staff at the mine seemed under pressure with the crowds and it was very crowded. If you don’t like being herded around in a tight space with lots of people give it a miss. I was glad to see the sky after and Piter had us in good spirits on the trip back. A good experience overall mainly thanks to our driver.

It’s great to be picked-up from the hotel and driven directly to the activity. Our driver shared a lot of local stories which was very entertaining, and the salt mine itself was amazing and well worth visiting.

The overall experience was excellent. Pick up was very well organised. Jerry the driver was an unbelievable host. No stone left unturned. Even on the return journey he took time to show us local sights before we were dropped off at a location of our choice. The tour around the salt mine was ok, guides are supplied from the mine and was suitable. Good pace and time to look at the key sights. Lift back up is an experience. Mine itself was very warm so you don’t need a coat down there. This has to be one of the go to companies for tours. 100% genuine review from a UK visitor.

The driver (Peter) who picked us up was very friendly and knowledgable as he spoke about Krakow, the salt mine and the culture of Poland. The mine was worth the visit, very interesting. The surrounding area is pretty.

The hotel pickup and drop-off were incredibly smooth and easy, making the entire experience stress-free from beginning to end. The included tickets allowed us to skip to the front of the line, which was a huge bonus as it was very crowded on a weekend. We felt very well taken care of throughout the entire experience. Everything was organized, convenient, and seamless. I would absolutely recommend this tour to anyone visiting Kraków and looking to explore the Wieliczka Salt Mine!

Excellent communication, our driver was fabulous and Wieliczka Salt Mine is a must-see in Krakow! Only 800 steps down (and an elevator to go back up)!

The salt mines are quite incredible... a must see for any visit to the Krakow area. But be warned ... a LOT of walking (maybe 3 miles) and a LOT of stairs (going down around 800 steps). Also, ceilings are often only around 6 feet high, so if you are tall, a lot of walking and ducking at the same time. Fortunately, to return to street level by elevator. Regarding Viator, you are basically paying them for transport from the your hotel to the salt mines, and then pre-purchasing your tickets. If you have a car and buy your own tickets, you don't really need Viator.

I was recommended to use Tony when in Krakow and that’s what we did! We only decided that morning to go to the salt mines but we were picked up promptly by Jerry who was so knowledgeable and helpful, he did us a tour on the way to and from the airport which was so informative and really interesting! Thanks so much would definitely recommend and use again.

The ride was great, smooth pickup, and very informative guide. Jerry was accommodating to both English and Polish who attended. Due to an emergency in the mine, we finished 15 minutes late, but Jerry waited for us and was understanding. Would use again in the future.

Everything went without a hitch. Got picked up by Jerry outside our hotel and taken to the salt mines. Jerry was very knowledgable on our journey there, informing us about the history of areas we drove through and how the day would run. The salt mines themselves were INCREDIBLE! A must do if visiting Krakow!

Great tour. Pick up was easy and timely. Peter was an entertaining driver. Bring a light jacket to the mines. It can get chilly. Highly recommend the museum afterwards.

There are “lots!” Of stairs down to the mine. I was surprised how good the actual stairs were though, I expected the stairs to be made from the rock salt but they were wood and modern, so easily navigated, especially as you were going down! Prepare for quite a bit of walking as there are literally miles under ground!! The open mine was amazing, there were sculptures all made out of Salt (Obv) My wife was finding the walking difficult (especially after the climb down) but one of the guides noticed this and when we walked towards the lifts back to the surface, as we were right at the back of our group, he directed us a different route and we went up a different lift. There were only 3 of us so we basically had our own lift and it brought us back to the surface, right near where our minibus was parked, rather than having to cram into a lift with lots of people and then have another quite long walk back to the minibus! An excellent trip. Our driver Jerry from Cracow For You was great he was in constant touch with us via WhatsApp and he even took us on a short sightseeing trip around Krakow on the way back. 10/10 would highly recommend this trip!!

The trip to the Salt Mines was excellent. The mines were a glimpse into the past and present - just beautiful- the vast chambers, underground lakes, and a chapel that was magical - all carved over centuries by skilled workers all preserved in the salt. I was a little put off by the amount of steps I had been told about as my wife has walking difficulties but the team at the salt mines couldn’t have been more helpful in providing me with details of visiting times that bypassed the 800 steps but allowed entry into the mines via the lift. What a godsend that was especially as the experience was one that we didn’t want to miss. The guide was brilliant and ensured the group were well informed of the history and enabled everyone to see the mines at a pace that suited the slowest visitor. None of the group felt that had to walk faster and there were plenty of times to have a break whilst taking in the scale of the mines. Would definitely recommend and email the mines for times if have walking difficulties. We went at 6pm - it was quiet ! Also recommend an uber from the centre of Krakow as only ZL55 (£11.00). The train is an option and cheap but if you have walking difficulties take a taxi.

Super neat special experience that I highly recommend checking out at least once while in Krakow. Jerry was our van driver, and he was kind, courteous and showed us some other highlights of Krakow on the way to the mines. No notes!

The tour itself was excellent and probably unique in the world. Well worth the short trip from Krakow. Our driver, Jerry, was exceptional. He communicated continuously with us on WhatsApp so there was never any question on timing and meeting points. He also provided very useful information about multiple points of interest along our journey. He shared many personal and family experiences especially regarding the Soviet era.

We had a fantastic experience on this tour from start to finish. The hotel pickup was smooth, our driver was funny and personable, and our guide inside the salt mine was exceptional. He had worked at the mine for more than 30 years, was incredibly knowledgeable, and clearly loved what he did. It made for a memorable visit. I also wanted to share some information for anyone needing a wheelchair-accessible tour, as this isn't obvious when booking. The Wieliczka Salt Mine offers accessible tours using elevators, but these are generally only available on the first and last tours of the day and are not open to the general public. If your group includes a wheelchair user, the entire group can join the accessible tour together. In our case, we had one wheelchair user and five additional guests, and everyone stayed together. To book, reserve the closest available time slot on Viator, then message Cracow For You - Local Tours & More and explain that you need the wheelchair-accessible tour and your preferred time. They were extremely responsive and handled all the arrangements for us. While our final hotel pickup time wasn't confirmed until a day or two before the tour, everything had been organized in advance. They also arranged for a wheelchair to be available at the mine, which I highly recommend because of the unique elevator system used there. One thing we weren't expecting: the mine requested proof of disability to use the wheelchair. If possible, bring documentation. Alternatively, identification showing age 65+ may also be accepted. Overall, this was an outstanding experience with excellent customer service, great accessibility accommodations, and an amazing guide. Highly recommended.

As expected a pleasant experience. Our guide Jerry went above and beyond keeping us informed at all times. He even toured us to a few other interesting sites as Schindler's factory and the Jewish ghetto wall. When we were looking for a taxi to the train station, he even arranged it for us. Best guide in Krakow!

Great driver Peter very friendly and informative. Guide was experienced and gave us a great insight into the mines. The tour was a great experience but you may prefer to travel independently as the turn around was really tight and there was no time to look around the shops or take in the area for a drink/coffee. It felt like a conveyor belt. Some people felt claustrophobic and bailed out early on. There are a lot of steps just to get to level 1 -380 maybe enquire about tours for the less able.

Had a fun and interesting experience doing the Wieliczka Salt Mine Tour by Cracow for You. Jerry, our driver was great— from excellent communication about hotel pickup, to interesting historical commentary enroute to the mine, to helpfulness with restaurant recommendations, he could not have been any better or more friendly. The mine guide, Martin gave us an excellent tour of the fascinating Wieliczka Salt Mine highlighting the incredible work of local miners over the centuries, including their construction of an underground church made of salt.

Jerry was an excellent tour guide! Very punctual and picked us up exactly at our hotel! He gave a lot of facts along the way during the drive there and back and even took us on a small tour of the Jewish ghetto and quarter before dropping us all back at our hotels. Highly recommend!

The communications was great throughout, with updates from Jerry by WhatsApp. The guided tour was very good by Katarzyna, although someone should have told us that the walks to the lift was a 20 minute guided walk! Overall the tour was great and very professionally managed.

What a great tour, seamless booking and great fun. I was picked up from my hotel,my driver was dead on time so no waiting around. My driver was piter,who was a very nice guy and funny too! A safe driver and being from Krakow himself he told the passengers a little about the city which was nice! The salt mine itself is amazing and definitely worth a visit, the guide was very knowledgeable and spoke perfect English, just for those who are curious, so understanding isn't a problem. Everything is set out for you and it's absolutely stress free, so I'd say book it for yourself and go along for a good tour. 5⭐ from me!

The mines are interesting and the cathedral at the end is very impressive.The only problem was the guide you couldn't hear him I asked him to turn the volume up but ignored me another person took the earphones off because he had the microphone on his chest and she couldn't hear him either
