Oliwia was a great guide who organised the transfer and entry well, it wasn't cheap when you added the ticket price on top but it was a very good tour and glad we did it

Itinerary
You will be picked up from the chosen hotel in Kraków. Your driver will transport you to the tour starting point.
Upon arrival, you and the tour leader will proceed to the Salt Mine, where you will meet a licensed guide and begin your tour. The 700-year-old mine and UNESCO World Heritage Site houses nearly 200 miles (300 km) of eerie tunnels, all carved by hand from salt blocks, and you’ll see the section that’s open to the public. With your guide, visit the three upper levels of the mine, at depths of 209 to 443 feet (64 to 135 meters). Begin with a descent down the stairs to the first level, where you’ll be led through chambers and shown underground lakes, shrines, and salt monuments. Admire the showstopper – the Chapel of St. Kinga – and marvel at how every one of its features, from chandeliers to the altar, is made of salt! Hear from your guide about the chapel’s history and how it took more than 30 years for two men to complete the wonder, which required more than 200,000 tons of rock salt.
After the tour ends, you will return to the bus and head back to the center of Krakow.

Tour itself was great. This was provided by on site tour guide. Pick up at Indigo Hotel but cannot be dropped off there. No water on bus on very hot day. Would have purchased if available. No explanation as to need to pick up listening device or how to use so had to assist elderly tourists with it. No meeting place for after tour provided. Had to rely on phone and ask directly but was not planning to turn phone on for the day due to daily charges. Should have been pre arranged. Tour itself was fantastic.
We had a fantastic day at Wieliczka Salt Mine with our tour leader, Oliwier Niedzielski.. he was punctual with our pick up and shared some interesting facts on the way. He looked after us and made the trip a very enjoyable experience - we would highly recommend!
I knew there were 380 steps to initially walk down but this then went up to around 800. If I knew this I would have not gone as my knees are bad at the moment. The tour was great and some beautiful things to see but unless you are very able bodied I would avoid.
Lots of walking but well worth it as there are lots stops and loads of information given great tour 💕
Would highly recommend this company for any tours, excellent pickups and guides and very informative, very knowledgeable and helpful
An Amazing place with some spectacular views a great way to spend 3 hours very knowledgeable guides and a great historical tour.
Amazing experience. Aurelia did a great job. The trip was very well organised pick off and drop off point made it very handy for all involved
Aurelia was very friendly and much help throughout our trip , had a lovely day out and learnt a lot and see a lot of interesting sculptures.
Was a great trip. Aurelia made the trip very easy and straight forward. I would recommend anyone coming to Krakow to do this trip.
Aurila was brilliant on our tour to the salt mines today. She give us additional around the krakow area to the mines and back. Would recommend this tour.
Great tour and very informative. Received all info in advance of our trip and everything ran smoothly and according to plan thanks to our helpful tour leader Auriella! A great day out, not to be missed.
The guide to and from Krakow was lovely and smiley but not so informative - i felt could have shared more of what we were going to experience before we arrived - some of the history and back ground. The guide at the mine was fantastic- passionate about his role in keeping this part of Polish history alive.
Throughly enjoyed the whole experience, everything was so organised! Very friendly guides on both parts (coach & salt mines)
This was an easy way to visit the Wieliczka salt mines. Our guide, John, was great. The mines themselves are mind blowing.
Great tour, really interesting!!! Thanks to our tour guide Aurelia. Didnt know what to expect of this one, but found it interesting and the hundreds of steps down weren’t that bad 😄
Amazing tour, aurelia was fabulous and accommodating. She went above and beyond help us stay informed and the mines were beautiful and the lady who gave the tour in the mine was equally amazing. Coach driver was polite and welcoming.
A great tour with Aurelia in Krakow to the Salt mines. Very polite and thorough. Comfortable coach there and back. Thank you.
The experience was extremely informative and well structured. The guides for both the Salt Mines and the drive there were really good.
Very good tour leader Aurela! Thankyou for a good and easy experience and everything was on time. Highly recommend using this company.
We had an amazing time at the Salt Mine. Our tour guide was knowledgeable and friendly. She explained everything throughly and was very entertaining.
We got there early - picked up at 5am! Waited in the que and got a spot at 10.30. Only downside was at the end of the tour waiting nearly 2 hours on the coach because people left without advising the coach!
Fantastic, your guide was very informative. Make sure to take food and drinks. Also Id as we were never told this. Quite rushed but to be expected for such a large area
Overall a good experience. Our initial pick up time was changed from 6:30am to 05:45, good communication via whatsappp to arrange, pick up was on time and transport was clean and comfortable. However when we arrived at Auschwitz we had to hang around for 2 and a half hours until our tour time. Tickets weren’t previously booked (not sure if this was the museums fault) so meant we had to hang around outside for a while until our driver and discover Cracow guide kindly took us to the nearest McDonalds until it was time for our tour. Due to this we weren’t able to complete the Salt Mine on the same day as we missed pick up but again great communication to rearrange this for the following day. Pick up for this was was on time and discover Cracow gave all the information needed.
Good information given re pick up for Auschwitz, bus was on time and good tour of Auschwitz- Birkenau with the guide. Everything organised and no waiting around - we were able to go straight in. Less information given about the time for the salt mine tour pickup as you are dropped back in Krakow between tours. We had to ask our driver who then phoned to check for us. The bus for the afternoon was half an hour late due to bad traffic but we received no information from the company which would have been helpful. We only found out because someone else phoned up. However, a great tour of the salt mine. Overall, a very good day and excellent value for money but it is long and tiring.
Not a great day. We visited Auschwitz & Birkenau and the whole trip was rushed to the point that we had no time at all for a drink, to look at things properly or to take in the place at all. Whilst i do understand that the place was busy, i feel that we missed so much. The day was booked thinking that we would go straight to the salt mines afterwards but no, despite asking the tour guide who had no idea what was happening, the driver wanted to drop us at a random hotel in Krakow and insisted that we wait on the street outside for almost 2 hours to be collected for the Salt Mine visit. We refused that and asked that we be taken back to our hotel. We did get dropped off at our hotel. Later that day we got a call from the driver of the Salt Mine visit as he was waiting at the random hotel. We explained what had happened and he was nothing less than brilliant. He came to our hotel, collected us, provided us with a bottle of cold water and took us to the salt mines. This guy was exceptional, the mines were brilliant and the driver waited for us but kept telling us not to rush and to take our time and see everything. He literally sat and waited in his car the whole time. He then offered to drop us off anywhere in Krakow. Salt Mines themselves were exceptional and i would highly recommend them to anyone but if you are going to Auschwitz, DONT book a guide just buy a guide book and go alone.
Never got too salt mine because driver never turned up in morning other than that was good and overall a experience thanks
My dad and I have been talking about doing this tour for years. We are both massive history buffs particularly WW2 history. To say we loved it would be the wrong words. It was life changing. Sombre, informative, reflective and sad. Our guide Sophie took us through with such respect for the many horrific atrocities that occurred over the two sites. Very well organised and so respectful. Everyone should go and see this in their lifetime.
Our guide was excellent. She spoke with gravitas, had an emotional connection with the victims and answered all of my many questions. Unfortunately the salt mine was closed, by government directive, because of the corona virus.
I've seen enough documentaries regarding ww2.....as well as the Holocaust museum in Washington DC (USA)....so it was quite meaningful to walk the grounds in person. The tour guide was well informed and took approx 3 hours to see.

Auschwitz concentration camp was a network of concentration and extermination camps built and operated by the Nazis. It is a poignant story of the past and hits you straight at your heart. As I went up and down the various buldings and the a few streets of the yester years, along with my guideprovided by Viator i shrivelled inside me. How can humans turn to animals? i went to the town centre,at 7 AM for my pickup and travelled in a comfortable mini van with 18 others.I came back around 1.30 PM, had a quick lunch in the nearby Polish restaurant and was back at the pickup point at 2.45PM/ The afternoon tour was just the opposite-exhilarating to see the preserved salt mines and to hear the story of the miners in a very telling way. It was not tiring and was well worth the day spent.

Auschwitz was powerful and the guide was excellent. The salt mine was fantastic as well. A great trip and glad I saw both on the same day. I recommend this company.
We booked a number of tours with Discover Cracow Tours, either picking us up from our hotel or someone meet us at the hotel and walked us to the tour bus (not very far away). Our first tour was Auschwitz-Birkenau, an early start, whilst on the tour bus a film about the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau. The tour guide at Auschwitz-Birkenau was an amazing man, his knowledge was excellent, he answered questions and was very dignified in relaying harrowing details of what happened, he said go home and tell everyone about this place so those who died here are not forgotten. Before leaving for Kracow we had already decided not to do both tours on the same day as there was lots of walking in 27 degree heat, thank goodness the tour buses were airconditioned. Early the next morning, we were met at the hotel and walked to the tour bus, then headed for the Wieliczka Salt Mine. Wow, lots of steps, 380 from the surface down, in all we went down 800 steps, thank goodness for the 'fast' lift back up to the surface. Again the tour guide was fabulous, his knowledge was excellent and waking through the mines from one area to another has to be experienced. I can still taste the salt! A big thank you to all the staff, drivers and tour guides at Discover Carcow Tours.
This is a place that EVERYONE should visit. An inspiring, heart wrenching and amazing day. Whilst I was initially concerned about the amount of visitors, on reflection, it at least meant that more people were able to see it, understand what happened and ensure that it never, ever happens again.
Discover Cracow Tours were very efficient and helpful with pick up from our hotel on time for both tours. Staff were friendly and helpful with excellent english. A video was played in the minibus giving the background to the Auschwitz camp on the lourney there. Tour guide at the camps was excellent - there is a lot to see and a lot of walking in both Auschwitz and Birkenhau. Very moving and upsetting as you would expect but an unmissable visit. Salt mines also amazing with a lot of steps down and each chamber more impressive than the last. The lift back to the top is an experience with 9 of us crammed into a small cage. We would definitely recommend doing these tours on seperate half days. They both involve a lot of walking with little time for breaks or refreshment so doing both in one day would be a long day

We did this trip over two days. Going to auschwitz was like going to a cattle market, it was very busy. The guide we had was good but sometimes found that what she was talking about we couldn't see as we hadn't entered the room yet because of the crowds of people. It was a three hour tour but could have spent longer there as we didn't see everything because of the time limit that we had.
The salt mine trip we did the following day. I would fully recommend this trip except for the guide that we had that meet us off the mini bus, he was extremely rude and needed a lesson in people skills! One of the people in our tour asked if there was anytime after to look in the shops. His reply was if everyone agrees you can have ten minutes. If you are longer I will not wait for you, you can find your own way back to the bus. Arranging meeting points were not straight forward, leaving most of us confused. The tour guide inside the salt mine was great. It was busy but waited for the tour in front to move before explaining the monuments etc.

Great value for your money, long day of touring but our group was no more than 10 people and were very accommodating to our young child.

Salt mine tour was excellent....my only criticism would be on the Auschwitz tour the guide repeated herself quite a lot. I felt it was a little bit of a conveyor belt....we didn't really have time to pause and take it all in. I felt there were times when she should have just been quiet, especially when walking through the crematoria. I ended up taking my earphone out, just so I could take in what actually happened there....hope that makes sense.

Well paced in that we felt to do both in one day would have been too much. Both trips were well organised with knowledgeable guides, but on both trips we joined with other groups which made it hard to hear on occasions and seemed rushed, for example in Auschwitz we would have liked to look at and study the information and exhibits on display. We were four adults and whilst we would say both trips are a must when visiting Krakow, two of us felt the Salt Mine was only ok and would give it 3 stars.

We had booked our trip to Auschwitz at 7:20am hotel pick up and it lasted until 3pm. We had a very good guide, mrs. Daria, a very friendly and professional guide. After that, we were supposed to visit salt mine (half day tour) which started at 3:30-8pm. Personally, not a very interesting trip, but our guide was very friendly. On the way back to our hotel, as we were exhausted and had nothing for lunch (because we had basically only 30 minutes break) we asked our driver to take us as soon as possible to our hotel if it was possible. He was trooping everyone in frond of their hotels but he left us on the Main Street, we had to use the underpass and walk all the way to our hotel! So unprofessional, as he knew that we had done all the trips today and we were very tired!!!!

I thoroughly enjoyed these two tours. Not only was the pickup on time but the guides friendly and knowledgeable. I feel that everybody should experience Auschwitz at least once. But Wielicka was my last day in Poland and the highlight of my trip. It was super!!! Beautiful!!!
Both tours involve al lot of walking but it is totally worth the effort. The pure air down in the mine makes it easy to walk.

Excellent tour, highly recommend seeing both Auschwitz and salt mines if you have the time.

I chose Discover Cracow Tours, not for a price saving, but to enjoy two, half day excursions to Auschwitz-Birkenau and the Wieliczka Salt Mine . A whole day tour would not have suited me. The organisation of the days was superb .. from punctual pick ups from and return to my hotel , comfortable mini-buses, safe drivers, to excellent, knowledgeable guides to both sites. Maybe visiting Auschwitz-Birkenau in March was not the best time. At -15C windchill it served to focus the mind on the suffering that must have been endured by those who survived extermination in the camps. It was a sobering visit !! Then there was the visit to the Salt Mine the following morning. A magnificent underground tour to 4 levels ... +/- 145 meters down. Please be advised that there were many steps to descend and you have to be fit as there was much walking. However, the mining history displays, chandelier lit chapels and carvings en route are wonderful. Thank goodness for the lift that brought us back to the surface.

The tours overall were amazing. Very informative and well worth it. The guide for Auschwitz must have been in training as he was not very polished and kept asking the secondary guide we were with to fill in the blanks which she did in Polish, then he had to translate to English. He English was good, but not great considering it was an English tour. The mic also kept cutting out which was disappointing as it was hard to hear. The Salt Mine was very cool. The guide was amazing. The only challenge was getting out of the mine. It took nearly an hour of waiting in line after line to get onto the elevator. The elevator back up is terrifying. If you are claustrophobic, it will be a challenge for you. The only thing I wish I knew in advance was more detail about timing. How much time would be spent at each place and how many breaks we got. The timing was good, but had I known more in advance, it would have helped the experience.

These trips were very well run and on both days the hotel pick-ups were punctual. You are asked to be ready 10 minutes before your collection time so that you do not keep everyone waiting. Auschwitz-Birkenau: This day has an early start. We were collected around 6.45am. The journey itself takes around 1.5 hours from Krakow, during which you are shown a documentary on the liberation of the camp. On arrival there is a short break of about 20mins before the tour starts, so there is an opportunity to grab breakfast at the Museum café if needs be. There are also toilets here, which have a 2 PLN charge, so it is advisable to carry change, although there is an attendant. Following the break we were introduced to our guide from the Museum. Although you could walk around the museum yourself, the guide provides you with so much more background information than is available from just looking at the exhibits, and therefore (I believe) enhanced the experience. The tour of Auschwitz is half inside half outside, Birkenau is all outside. You should take clothing appropriate for the weather. It was very cold and windy on the day we visited. You are not allowed to smoke, drink or eat within the museum, but I saw a lot of people flouting this rule. It is so disrespectful given the enormity of the crime that took place here, so please listen to the guides. Photography is allowed in most places, but not in others. The guide will advise you accordingly. Wieliczka Salt Mine: This was a totally different day, slightly later pick up and an amazing and enjoyable visit to this deep salt mine. If you have trouble walking this trip probably is not for you, but you could ask I guess about alternative access (there are lifts into the mine, which for this tour are only used on the way out). A lot of people have already commented on the amount of stairs you have to negotiate and this is true. Most people will not find these difficult and I think they add to the whole experience. Once again the guide came from the Salt Mine, and provided a detailed (and at times tongue in cheek) history of the mine workings. The carvings and chapels were the highlight for me, truly amazing as most, if not all of the work was completed by the miners, not professional sculptors. Please note there is a 10PLN charge if you want to take photographs. You can buy this before or during the tour. The half day tours were perfect for us as we were only on a short trip and wanted to see as many other things as possible, but there are exhibits that are missed. If you want to see more the full day tours may be better for you. If I have one criticism (if you could call it that) I would have liked perhaps 30 minutes more at the end of each tour to have an opportunity to browse through the book shops, or grab a coffee and put some money into the local community. That is really it though, so all in all a good experience with Discover Cracow, and I would use them again if I return.
A must visit , very emotional, tearful in places, one questions how people can treat other humans in such a derogarotory manner.
We did the Auschwitz-Birkenau tour, it was a very humbling experience but one that we were glad to be part of. Our guide was excellent and very knowledgeable and having the earphones meant everyone could hear what she was saying, which as it’s such a moving experience you didn’t want to miss out on what was being said. This was an excellent tour. The following day we visited the salt mines, it was a large group of approx 40+people. Again we had earphones, however if you were near the back of the group then the signal was very poor & you couldn’t make out what the tour guide was saying, ideally this should have been done with a smaller group or the guide should have waited until the whole group were together before she spoke. As a result of this people were pushing to be at the front and if you were near the back then you missed big chunks of the commentary. Inside the salt mine is stunning & definitely worth a visit, I’m personally disappointed that we did miss out on some parts.

The Auschwitz tour guide was fantastic as well as the Wieliczka tour. I think some organizational skills could really benefit this company such as dropping off the people who are doing the double trip first so that they don't spend an extra 25-30 minutes sitting on the bus dropping everyone else off first when we are the ones with minimal time to eat lunch before the next tour departs. Also, at the Salt mine, we had to sit an wait for 30-35 minutes for two people who did not correctly follow their tour guide instructions.

very thoughtful and full of information in both locations. would go for it again for sure!

Discover Krakow had superb tour guides that really made both days even more special
