BEWARE regarding all the stairs. If we had known that we would be rushed down so many steps and with so many people, we would never of paid to go in. why the rush I don't know as it was a rush just to get through to another rush to walk down the tunnels. This was a huge group of 50 or more and it was all rushed because another group was on our tail. There was not much time or places to stop sit and and take it all in. Lots of displays we just walked past with not even a look or chance to read the signs. The church at the end was the best because we got a whole 5 minutes to look at it all. No chance of a seat as very few about. Then we were told we could spend as much time in the cafe as we would like. I'm glad we decided to sit eat drink and use the loo, as to get out was another very long walk to a lift where we were squashed in like sardines. We still ache from those stairs. And we are walkers, used to walking.

Your trip to the Wieliczka Salt Mine will begin in the city centre or at your hotel in Krakow. Wieliczka is only a short distance, 10km away from Kraków. After a 30 minutes’ drive you will be there to begin your 2.5-hour wonder through the network of underground tunnels and labyrinths. You’ll have to take approximately 360 steps down to the mine. Down in the mine there is a specific micro climate. Due to the high iodine content it is helpful in the treatment of respiratory problems. The tour of the mine is guided by experienced professionals who will tell you all about the local history, legends and many interesting facts about the mine.

Nice experience. One of the most incredible church under the floor. I recommend it if you vistit krakow. Also the recommendation of the guide Maciej was very helpful.
It was brilliant !lots of beautiful carvings, the tour guide was very good in explaining everything ,very patience & answer all questions !
I was worried about feeling claustrophobic as don’t like small spaces. I need not have worried. The smallest place is where you queue to get into the mines and this was not cramped. If you can cope with the entrance you will be fine, if you don’t like it, you can leave at this point. I would say try and persevere as the walk ways are light and airy and not cramped. Most of the area are large and spectacular and this trip is amazing
Transport was online and contact via WhatsApp was reliable. Was in a “small group” tour but had 30 people in. The tour guide was very good and knowledgeable. Stopped at lots of check points to discuss the history and signpost parts of the mine. Being in a group with 30 made it difficult sometimes to see and hear the tour guide but was okay. Mixture of ages and abilities, so some who struggled to walk stairs and for long duration struggled. I would emphasise that this tour is a lot of walking and listening. Young children who came with family were very disruptive due to being bored and unstimulated. There was hundreds of steps down and then long tunnels to walk through.
Amazing sites at this wonderful site. Great guide...Dominic, who was very clear, patient and friendly. Fantastic experience.
A thoroughbred enjoyable and informative tour with excellent guide. The museum was well presented but be aware you need to be quite fit to do this as you cover a king distance walking over 3 hours.
It is amazing that people manually excavated to a depth of over 300 meters below ground in what you would call a labyrinth of tunnels and vast chamber's at extreme hight too. The structure is wondrous. I will not say what has been created at the depths on several levels as it will spoil visitors going to see such feet’s achieved. By the way you walk down but come back up in one of the original mine lifts, so don’t panic. Well worth the visit. Just to let visitors know there is restoration work going on at the extreme depth. I was allowed and other tourists, with a guide down to 165 meters.
This is a great place, so much bigger than you think, You only do 1 percent of the Mine on the tour, Definitely a must visit,
If I’m Krakow you must build it the Salt Mines. Brilliant and informative and totally unexpected. Thomasz our guide was funny and knowledgeable. Beware lots of walking but well worth it. Great value too.
Well worth a visit lots of wooden steps down to the main attractions a long walk through the caves but nothing too strenuous amazing sight might feel a bit rushed with the tour guide
Spectacular place to visit but be prepared for a staircase descent of 400 steps. It goes in a square spiral. The lift back up is interesting - they squeeze (quite literally) 9 of you in to a cage.
Brilliant experience seeing inside mine spectacular salt carvings and salt crystal chandeliers. Need to bear in mind lots of walking down and along over 300 metres down in mine walking down steps thank goodness there was a lift back
Whilst visiting Krakow I highly reccomended taking the walking tour of the salt mine. I was not to bothered about going but really glad I went. This is a 2 hour tour which explores various chambers within the mine. It is accessible to most as one of our party is partially sighted.(allowed to use the lift) It does however have many steps (managable) and no problem. I will not spoil it by telling you what you see but this is well worth the visit. Can be a little rushed
Very informative and knowledgeable guide. Ask for the appropriate head set at the beginning of the tour. They predominantly use a single in ear ear piece. However they have a small selection of over ear headphones. There's lots of walking (obviously!) so bring your pedometer!!! Well worth the walk.
This is a little way out of central Krakow but easy to get to in an uber. A very different experience, you go down to about 135m below ground, visit lots of different tunnels and chambers including an extremely impressive chapel. The guide told us lots of interesting information not only about the mine but the local area and history of poland too. The tour takes about 3 hours but is definetely worth taking a chunk from your city break!
Had a really great time with plenty of of steps, but what an awesome place with excellent transfers only draw back is a long walk to get to the lift (. but well worth it )
Poland-Active was very reliable and responded to all of our questions from the start when we were planning through to the day of our Salt Mine Tour. Everything went according to plan, the Salt Mine tour was great and the driver gave us a great lunch recommendation. I would highly recommend Poland-Active
I was disappointed with this tour unfortunately! Some areas of the mine are truly beautiful (the chapel being the real eye opener) the majority of the tour is filled with wax sculptures of gnomes and over dramatic explanations of the formation of the mine. The listening devices weren’t great either, only one ear piece was available and I found it difficult to hear the tour guide as she was softly spoken and the listening devices were crackling all the time. 3/10 in my opinion, I wouldn’t come back.

Our driver was on time, the vehicle was very clean and he made sure we were set up at the mine for the tour and the guide at the mine was very good and friendly

The actual tour by local tour guide was good. I think she worked on the staff of the salt mine. She knew her history well and was very informative explaining and pointing out significant historical events in this beautiful place, with humorous touch . I could never had ever imagined how salt could be turned to beautiful sculptures. Even though our group was large, having a headset, made listening very easy. If you claustrophobic, you may want to skip this tour.
Very touristy but woth a visit. It's a long walk down (400ft) so yu need to be reasonably fit. A Walk through the salt mines provides some insight into how the salt was extracted and the churches are spectacular.
Used this company for trip today. Driver on time, clean minibus, driver handed us over safely to tour group and waited for us to complete tour. Friendly and informative driver. Fair price for tour and transport. Very pleased.

The Salt Mine tour is simply awesome - well organised, amazing sights. You will be walking down a lot of steps !! But well worth the effort there is a lift back up

Transport arrived on time, driver was friendly and knowledgeable. Tour was brilliant and we really enjoyed it. Very stress free, would recommend as queues at mine were long and booking like this was so much easier than trying to sort ourselves on the day.

We enjoyed this trip and there was lots to see
The only thing was they don't give you long enough breaks to get a drink/something to eat

Hotel pick up was on time and the driver was very friendly and knowledgeable on explaining not just what to expect at the Mines, but general Polish history for general knowledge. Trip was good - very insightful.

This is a must see and do tour. Our guide was brilliant - very knowledgeable and funny. The time went really quickly and I would go back again if I ever get the chance. It is important to be able to walk down a lot of steps and then you are on your feet for a couple of hours. but it is very worthwhile.

This is a fantastic trip and our guide was great and very witty. The Chapel is beautiful and worth the 800 steps to get to it. May not be suitable for those with walking difficulties or young children although there is a lift which is used for weddings and it would be worth asking about this as it is a trip not to be missed.

Great tour!! very well organized and guides are very knowledgable.

Nice trip, not too far from Kraków (about 20 minutes). We got picked up at 09.30 and was back in Kraków 13.30 so we still had a lot of the day to do other things which was nice.

The size and scope of the mine is amazing, very good tour guide - felt safe if a little scared being that far below ground.

Very touristy, lines and rows of people. You have to go down 16 floors with the stairs first. You can also walk about 3 km underground. Our guide talked too quietly so I couldn't understand everything. You're hardly standing anywhere because the next group is coming. The decor is beautiful and that makes it worthwhile. At the end of the tour you have to wait for the lift and we (at least) got another guide who only spoke Polish. She told me a lot of other things that I didn't understand at all. That makes the experience just a little less
Nice tour of the mine of over two hours. Good speaking English guide. Ticket purchased at the ticket office, cost 119 sloty. Worth it!
The salt mine is nice to see. You have to be good on your feet. In the beginning whole department on foot a lot of stairs down! Back happy with an elevator that is very small! The guide we had was not good. He walked too fast, was uninterested and told no more than the absolutely necessary. The driver arrived in time to pick us up but left us to our own devices after we got out of the mine. As a result, we have to wait more than half an hour.
Very interesting trip to the Salt Mines. Was picked up at the agreed time by minibus at our hotel. Was followed up to the entrance to the mines and left to the guide after arranging a meeting place after the tour ended. Great tour with English speaking guide that was easy to understand. Was driven back to the hotel again. Recommend this tour operator.
