Our tour of Kraków’s Jewish Quarter was one of the highlights of our time in the city, and a huge part of that was thanks to our wonderful guide. What made the experience truly special was the way our guide brought the history to life. At every synagogue and historic site, we heard fascinating stories that went far beyond the usual dates and facts. Instead of simply showing us buildings, our guide helped us understand the people, traditions, culture, and remarkable history that shaped this part of Kraków. The stories were engaging, thoughtful, and often incredibly moving. We learned something new at every stop, and our guide had a real talent for explaining complex and sometimes difficult aspects of Jewish history in a way that was both accessible and deeply respectful. You could tell that this was more than just a job — there was genuine passion and knowledge behind every story. The tour felt personal, insightful, and never rushed, with plenty of opportunities to ask questions and explore the details that interested us. If you are visiting Kraków and want to experience the Jewish Quarter beyond simply seeing the sights, I would highly recommend this guide. Having someone who can connect each synagogue, street, and landmark to the fascinating stories of the people who lived there makes an enormous difference. An outstanding guide and a truly memorable experience. We left with a much deeper appreciation for Kraków’s Jewish heritage and history. Highly recommended!

Chris was an outstanding guide for our Krakow walking tour. He was knowledgeable, engaging and took the time to answer questions throughout the tour. The pace was well suited for a group with varying ages and abilities, making the tour enjoyable for everyone. Loved doing it on our first day in Krakov. I would not hesitate to use Chris again and highly recommend his tour.
I had a private tour with Chris around Kazimierz and the Jewish Ghetto. Chris was a wonderful guide - so friendly, with interesting stories - all at a perfect pace. Highly recommended, and I wish I'd been able to do more tours with Chris. Next time I'm in Poland!
My walking tour of the Jewish quarter in Krakow with Christopher was outstanding. For anybody interested in the history of WWII, the Jewish people in Poland, or learning about important aspects of Krakow's history, I highly recommend this tour. Christopher was an excellent, highly knowledgeable, engaging guide, and not only did he show me places which I did not know, but provided a lot of terrific information which was new to me. We had a great walk which was wonderful for me because I LOVE to walk, but this was a gentle, all flat walk which would be easy for most anybody. In particular, Christopher took me to Kazmierez, the old Jewish quarter, and Remuh Synagogue and cemetery. This was quite a surprise to me as I did not know they had survived the war bombings or Nazis. We also took a great walk through The Ghetto Heroes Square which I had never heard of. The art of the 33 standing chairs was deeply moving as was the guide's historic background and story connected to it. Finally, we visited the Krakow Ghetto pharmacy which was quite interesting as well. Overall, I highly recommend this tour--excellent and informative, and Christopher is a great guide.
For anybody truly, seriously interested in the history of Poland, WWII, and Jews in Krakow, I strongly recommend taking this tour with Christopher. Christopher was an outstanding, highly knowledgeable engaging guide, and I thoroughly enjoyed his tour. I learned a great deal and had a wonderful time walking all about Krakow. He was organized, clear, and showed me several notable sights connected to the history of the Jews in Krakow which I was unaware of. Most notable for me were the sights of Kazimierz, the old Jewish quarter, and Remuh synagogue and cemetery which were a complete surprise and very moving. Also of note was our visit to The Ghetto Heroes Square and the chairs (Plac Bohaterów Getta) which I had not heard of until he showed it to me--very powerful, moving history. We also visited the famous Krakow Ghetto pharmacy which was another story of the Jews in the Holocaust and Poland I was unaware of--and it is well worth visiting. In fact, after my tour with Christopher, I went back to visit Plac Bohaterów Getta a second time. I LOVE to walk, and while we did spent a long time (close to three hours) walking, there was nothing difficult or steep--all gentle, straightforward and flat. I strongly recommend taking Christopher's tour--a great history lesson and tour of Krakow combined.
My wife and I did the Private Krakow Jewish Quarter Tour including the Jewish Quarter and Kazimierz with Chris. We completely enjoyed our time with him. He's a wealth of knowledge about Krakow, Poland and Polish Jewish history. He paced his tours well, was always on time, easy going, patient with our many questions and easy to understand. We were grateful for his perfect English as we knew zero Polish. His prices were quite fair. In fact, we used Chris for 3 tours while we were in Krakow. We highly recommend him.
Very friendly guide, great tour. We learned a lot. We appreciated all of the valuable information and Christopher was a fantastic guide.
Chris was an excellent tour guide - knowledgeable and friendly. He answered all our questions. We wanted a private tour given the solemnity of the topic. Unknowingly, I booked both the Krakow City Tour and the Krakow Ghetto tour with Chris, spending the morning and afternoon with him which turned out fantastic. I highly recommend his tours.
Chris is a brilliant guide who gave us a fascinating and insightful walking tour of the Jewish Quarter in Krakow. He also drove us to Auschwitz for a private tour and arranged our visit to the Salt Mines. His knowledge of Krakow and all it has to offer is encyclopedic and he is delightful company. All three of his restaurant recommendations were exceptional and we would certainly engage him again when we next come visit this region of Poland.
My son and I found ourselves with 4 hrs spare before our flight left krakow and thought we would try and find someone to do a Jewish area tour, at short notice Chris was able to meet us at our hotel and gave us the most amazingly informative tour of the Jewish area his knowledge was true ly amazing and delivered with such a lovely manner whilst we walked together. I could not recommend his tour more highly. Thanks again Chris Damian and Felix
Chris is an excellent and Knowledgable guide. He met us at our hotel for this walking tour of the Kracow Jewish quarter and we added a Tour of Schindlers Factory as well. He was extremely knowledgeable about the area and its history, he pointed out many of the buildings where famous people had lived and gave very detailed historical facts about the area. We moved around at a steady pace and we were not rushed at all. After a full tour of the Jewish Quarter we went onto the Jewish Ghetto and Chris explained the events that happened there fully. On leaving the Hero’s Place we went across the way to Schindlers Factory were Chris had arranged our entry beforehand. He accompanied us throughout the building explaining fully as we went along. Again a very informative and well researched tour was had. Chris is an excellent guide and we would recommend his reasonably priced tour services. We also used Chris the following day to ferry us to Auscwitz/Birkeneu in the morning, then he took us to the Salt Mines near to Kracow in the afternoon, before returning us to the hotel in the Old Town. Chris was not able to guide us on the tours but on the way to both locations he was a mind of information and facts , pointing out various locations en route.
We had an excellent and informative tour of the Krakow Jewish Quarter. The amount of detailed information we were given by our guide was amazing. It was very moving to learn about the history of Krakow during World War 2. Excellent tour.
Extremely interesting tour with Christopher who was knowledgeable and helped us explore the Jewish Quarter . We learnt so much and found the tour very moving and informative. We can really recommend Christopher as an amazing guide .
Very interesting trip, where Chris pointed out interesting things we’d never notice otherwise that made the whole experience very enriching.
Fantastic tour, lovely gentleman. Extremely knowledgable and fabulous company. Highly recommend to singles, families, couples and groups.
Christopher was a very knowledgeable guide. He was easy to understand and told interesting accounts of the history of Krakow and Poland. He related these stories specifically to our interests. He was personable and answered every question that we had with appropriate details. He is an excellent guide and we highly recommend his tour.
My guide Christopher was very knowledgeable not only about the history of the Jewish Quarter but also current Krakov and the Jewish community. Christopher explained a huge amount in the short tour and made sure I experienced the best. Overall this was an excellent tour which I recommend to people interested in the Jews of Poland and Krakov in particular. Christopher also provided details of films and books to see and read to supplement what was discussed on the tour. All round excellent service and follow up.
The private Krakow Jewish Quarter, Kazimierz, and Krakow Ghetto Tour we booked through Viator was really worth it. We booked the tour prior to our vacation, and scheduled it on a Sunday, 6/2/24 and our licensed city guide was Krzysztof Balszczyk (“Chris” for short). Chris came to pick us up from our hotel on time at 9 am. We were already waiting for him at the lobby. Chris was so accomodating, kind, and extremely knowledgeable. We learned a lot from him from this tour. He took us to all the spots that we need to see and discover. He explained thoroughly if we asked for clarification and more information. He was very patient when we need to take photos, we even have a photo with him. Our tour lasted for 2.5 hours. He was kind enough to drop us back to the vicinity of the restaurant where we decided to eat lunch. This tour with Chris is definitely a must for every tourist who visits Krakow, Poland. Thank you very much, Chris for everything. Please continue being the nice person that you are. You are excellent at what you do. Hope Britanico and Soter “Jake” Britanico From California, USA
Chris is an excellent guide. He is very experienced and was knowledgable on everything about Krakow/Poland. He was very reliable and was very easy to communicate with through emails from the initial planning process. The Jewish Quarter is a very nice area to hang out and spend your time while in Krakow - and we were able to appreciate its history better through his guidance. I highly recommend getting Chris as your guide if you will be visiting Krakow or doing day trips from Krakow.
Our family of 3 adults took 2 tours with Christopher: this one and his Krakow Old Town tour. Both were great choices. He has many more tour offerings than what is found on TripAdvisor under a different website: just search the words cracowguide and christopher. Chris hit the right balance of providing interesting historical and background information without being overwhelming. That said, he knows his history. Communication about confirming times & meeting places was thorough. He was friendly, respectful, and punctual and put us at ease. Well worth the reasonable price!
Chris led us on a fascinating tour of the Jewish Quarter. He has in depth knowledge of the places and history of the Quarter.
Chris took us on an informative and fun tour of the Jewish Quarter during our trip to Krakow. He provided us with extra stops to taste local snacks and was entertaining throughout.
I had the most incredible experience exploring Krakow's Jewish Quarter with our tour guide., Chris. His knowledge, passionate storytelling, and ability to create a deep connection with the history and culture of the neighborhood made the tour truly unforgettable. From the moment we started, he effortlessly guided us through the winding streets, sharing fascinating stories and pointing out significant landmarks. Chris’s enthusiasm and recommendations added an extra layer of authenticity to the journey, making it a must-do experience for anyone visiting Krakow.
Saw a lot of the city with a nice guide. I want expecting an prepared audio recording so that was different than other tours.
The tour guide knew great English. He knew both the history of Krakow and the history of Krakow as it related to Jews, from ancient and medieval times to today. He also knew history of the world in general. He was friendly, sincere in his love for his profession, and answered all of my questions, both related and unrelated to Jewish history and Krakow. He is a fountain of knowledge, and you would not know what you are missing until and unless you get this tour! In the end, I understand that his tour was a great introduction to the city, and he has given me other paths to take on our my should I want to learn more, which is great.
Chris met us at the hotel (Hotel Saski) and we walked to the Jewish quarter (Kazimierz) where we first had a detailed tour of the old synagogue and Jewish cemetery. Afterwards we strolled through the Jewish quarter looking at other cultural and religious sites. Chris provided lots of information, restaurant tops, info about burial practices, Jewish history. We ended the tour in the Krakow ghetto. Overall I highly recommend this 2.5h walking tour.
I contacted Christopher a few months before. We booked him for 4 days yet he required no deposit. Very trusting to book himself out on an e-mail from tourists. Christopher is amazing. He’s kind, patient, very knowledgeable and ready to answer any question. We like to build relationships with same tour guides- Christopher felt like a friend not a guide. Visited a synagogue and cemetery Book this guide. He goes out of his way to ensure you’re having a good time. Thanks -
We had an amazing time with our tour guide, Krzysztof. A native Krakow man, Krzysztof knows everything and more. Our tour of the Jewish Quarter, Kazimierz, was very well thought through to show us how the place transformed through the centuries. Krzysztof made it interesting and educational, so that we wanted to keep on going and learn more. His passion for Krakow, a vast knowledge of history and easiness to share it with others is super impressive! We got to like Krzysztof so much, that we took another tour with him and will recommend him to all our family and friends. This is the only way to get to know Krakow and its history! Five stars!
We had an excellent overview of the Krakow Jewish Quarter with my guide, Chris. We visited a synagogue and had coffee at a local restaurant. Hearing the history of the Jewish Quarter is a lot to process in light of the tragic past. Our guide was knowledgeable, and his command of English was impressive. This particular excursion is a must during your stay in Krakow.
We covered the back streets of the Jewish Quarter, though much has changed. It was Simchat Torah and everything was closed, but we could see what had existed. Had coffe at Hera, a nice cafe. The guide didn’t pressure us to do more than we wanted to and we had done another walking tour in the morning. We would recommend Christopher.
Krakow is Chris’s home and he made us feel welcome. It was clear immediately that Chris has a passion for his work. He weaves history through the lives of Poland’s courageous people he so clearly admires. His retinue of facts constantly adds color to his fascinating stories. One of the things we most appreciated about Chris is his willingness to thoughtfully answer the “thousand” questions that this wonderful place, and his accounts of it, sparked in us.
Chris gave us a fantastic tour of the Jewish District and Schindler’s factory. He was incredibly knowledgeable and took us to see many things that we wouldn’t have seen on our own. Based on his tour, we found 2 places to have dinner that were terrific. I would use him again in a heartbeat and I would recommend him to anyone who asked.
Chris took us on a guided tour through the Jewish District and then on to Schindlers Factory. Arranged at a time to suit us. He is very knowledgeable and was very informative. He pointed out numerous places that we would not have recognised or found had we toured without a guide. The pace and timings were perfect. We really enjoyed the day with him and the price was very reasonable. Could not fault him. I have recommended Chris to my daughter who is going to Kraków next month.
Chris is great! His English is perfect and his knowledge of the area is complete. More than anything, he understands the depth of the material that he’s covering. He doesn’t just point things out, he gives you background and context. He clearly loves his city and it’s long complex story. I plan to come back and I will not hesitate to call him.
Excellent tour Chris was very knowledgable friendly and helpful would highly recommend using Chris for learning about the Jewish quarter
After reading numerous books that took place in Krakow during WWll and watching Schindler’s list, my husband and I were very interested in visiting the Jewish Quarter. Our private guide, Chris, speaks excellent English and is very knowledgeable. Without a guide, walking through the quarter would have been meaningless for us. Chris is an outstanding guide! We highly recommend him to enhance your trip to Krakow!
We had a 2 hour tour with kris and some 100 questions. He patiently and accurately answered us. The pace was not too fast and yet not too slow. Kris had all the information we wanted and we really enjoyed the tour. Would recommend a tour with him for sure.
Chris acted as our host while we visited Krakow. This included visits to the Auschwitz and Birkenau, the Salt Mines, Jewish Quarter and Schindlers Factory. His communication, knowledge and punctuality were outstanding and I recommend him for your visit.
Prior to arriving in Krakow, Christopher arranged a meeting time at the lobby of our hotel and turned up punctually as expected. He is a very amicable chap whose English and knowledge of Krakow and its history was excellent. He was very proactive in helping us make full use of the 3 hours we had with him by using cabs where appropriate to save time walking between areas as the old Jewish Quarter is on the other side of the river to the Ghetto and factory. Highly recommended.
It was our first visit to Krakow and we pre-booked this tour. Our guide Chris met us at our hotel,he was very punctual and his English was extremely good.Chris was very knowledgeable about all aspects of the history and was excellent at delivering the tour and answering any questions. He was very friendly and made us feel really comfortable.I would definately recommend booking this private guided tour.Overall it was excellent!
