This was a fantastic tour to see both wooden churches of Southern Lesser Poland and Wooden Tserkvas, both UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Maciej our guide and driver arrived right on time and throughout the day made sure that everything ran smoothly. Although it was a long day with a lot of driving Maciej's enthusiasm for these treasures of this country made the day pass very quickly. He was very knowledgeable and approachable. His driving was impeccable and he tailored the day completely to our needs. Without a doubt this is the best tour that we have taken in a long while Thank you Maciej .

Maciej madę this tour beyond our expectations. We expected to see four wooden churches and he took us to thirteen as well as other interesting and unique sites along the route. "Matty" gave us background information on the churches as we visited each and pointed out interesting aspects of the structures. It was a long day but we were comfortable with his driving and his command of English made conversation fluid and engaging. He took us to a local 'fish farm' for a fabulous late lunch, as well. "Matty' made this the highlight of our three week tour of Central Europe.
Amazing experience visiting all these cute wooden churches in southern Poland! Way more convenient going on this tour than driving by yourself as you also need to call & arrange the church caretakers to let you into these churches.
This was probably the highlight of our trip to Poland. We were really looking forward to it but Maciej’s itinerary far exceeded our expectations, and he even showed us a couple of additional churches and a WW1 cemetery due to my interest. Maciej was a fantastic guide; so knowledgeable and enthusiastic and engaging. An incredibly memorable day!
This was an amazing tour. When I booked this tour, I had no idea of all the amazing churches that we would see. My husband and I would never have been able to see all these on our own. Our tour guide, made sure that we made it to all the stops plus many extra churches, a WW1 cemetery, stop for a local fresh sausage, lunch and if Matthew asks you if you like cookies you say yes. Matthew also does a castle tour and others. If we had time we would definitely book another of his tours.
The Wooden Architecture Tour in the Litle Poland exceeded our expectations. Not only were the wooden churches (UNESCO World Heritage sites) impressive, but also the landscapes we discovered during this day trip were equally breathtaking. Thanks to Maciej (our guide) we had the opportunity to visit the main churches and gain a deeper understanding of the origin of these unique buildings through engaging explanations. Moreover, we enjoyed a very tasty home made food cooked by a local family and discovered overwhelming views off the beaten track. This is a perfect tour if you are looking for an exceptional day
It was a wonderful tour, both the beauty of the wooden churches and the excellent guide, Maciej. The trip was very well organized, all the details were taken care of: the trip itself, the stops at the churches, the spot for the lunch, etc. In some of the wooden churches we had a local guide whose explanations were translated into English by Maciej. He is very competent, a skilful driver, a very friendly person, we had a nice chat with him throughout the trip ... We could not have asked for a better guide!
Maciej Szymniak was a superb and careful driver over a journey of about 10-plus hours and 300 km. He was an even better guide throughout. This was the highlight of our trip to Poland and we would not have been able to see these wonderful UNESCO wooden churches on our own by renting a car since Maciej called ahead to arrange that the churches would be open for us and a local guide provided when available, We saw much else as well, beyond the UNESCO sites. A truly wonderful experience with a delightful and knowledgeable guide/driver!
Our family had a wonderful time on this excursion visiting many of the wooden UNESCO churches of Poland. Our guide, Maciej (Matthew), was absolutely wonderful. His communication was excellent both leading up to the trip and during the day together. He had the route well planned and that included coffee or other stops along the way. His company, Poland Active, has many other types of excursions too, all of which look interesting. We highly recommend him and this company to you.
If like I was, you have been drawn in by photos of the unique and beautiful UNESCO world heritage site churches and want to also see something of the beautiful rural Malopolska region then I highly recommend this tour led by Poland Active. This is an exceptional tour led by a highly professional guide. From first communication via email to arrange the tour to a reassuring WhatsApp message the day before to confirm arrangements, I felt assured that this was a well organised and trustworthy company. Maciej my guide arrived promptly at a convenient meeting point and explained his plans for the day, with thoughtfully planned comfort breaks and a lunch stop. The tour lasted around 11 hours and covered a wide area with the opportunity to see 8 wooden churches, each with a distinctive architectural style. Local guides had been booked in advance to open up the buildings and reveal the intricate and beautiful polychrome decoration which dates back hundreds of years. The whole day was very well planned, and the pace of the trip was perfect. Maciej is a safe driver and a thoughtful and knowledgeable guide who went out of his way to ensure I enjoyed the tour. A unique and memorable experience, Thankyou!
We had a wonderful time touring the wooden churches in lesser Poland. Our guide, Maciej (Matthew), was excellent and he really made the tour special for us. There were plenty of opportunities for photos at each church, and Maciej knew all the best spots for photos! We had sufficient rest stops for coffee/snacks and toilets, and a delicious Polish lunch along the way. Maciej was also an excellent and safe driver, which we appreciated. We would not have been able to coordinate such a trip on our own. We were so impressed that we booked a second tour. Thank you, Maciej, for such a memorable day!
This is an exceptional tour of the wooden churches, which were once traditional in the Malopolska region! The tour started promptly at the agreed time with hotel pick-up. The guide asked us about the pace of the tour, explaining that we could see up to 8-9 churches if desired, the minimum being 4-5. We like wooden churches very much and chose to see as many as possible, and what a treat! These churches are unique and have beautiful histories attached to them! Most of them could be visited inside with their guide (who waited for us promptly when we arrived) or an audioguide. Everything was very well planned, and the overall pace of the trip was perfect, not rushed. We also had one hour for lunch at a lovely village restaurant; I recommend trying Polish traditional dishes there. Our guide, Maciej, was very knowledgeable and went beyond the call of duty to make our tour enjoyable! Everything was very well organized, allowing us to make the best of our trip and see everything we wanted to see! The landscapes along the way are unique, too! Highly recommended tour that has an excellent guide! Thank you, Maciej/Matthew!

My family and I had a wonderful time on this tour visiting the wooden churches outside Krakow. Our guide Maciek was very friendly and knowledgeable, and he pointed out sites in the towns and villages we passed through as well. Highly recommend!
If you’re passionate about architectural history, traditional buildings, vernacular architecture, photography, and/or truly unique religious buildings, I can’t recommend this tour highly enough. Matheiu and Matias went above and beyond. We spent twelve hours crisscrossing southeastern Poland visiting extraordinary UNESCO heritage sites. At nearly every stop Matias coordinated with friendly locals to open the doors of these amazing places and share their stories with us. The guys drove, translated, and shared information like absolute pros. Really a remarkable day. This tour was a bit challenging to find for me but I’m here to tell you it exceeded my expectations by a mile.
We booked the tour through the provider's website. Maciej, our guide, informed us via WhatsApp about the pickup at the hotel and asked in advance if we wanted to combine the tour with another couple (we received a discount for that), which was not a problem for us. We were picked up on time at the hotel and then drove to the wooden churches in the countryside of Little Poland, which takes a certain amount of time. Maciej repeatedly shared information about the region, its background, and his experiences and history - it was very engaging, and unfortunately, we could only remember a fraction of it. The churches are truly special; in some we were alone, in others there was a guided tour where Maciej had to translate from Polish to English, and in one church, we coincidentally met the author of a book about that very church, who immediately gifted us a signed copy of his book. Lunch was enjoyed in a really nice little inn featuring vegetarian Polish country cuisine, which is another aspect that truly makes this tour a hidden gem.
A perfect day visiting the wooden churches of Malopolska. Maciel turned out to be a great guide: punctual, professional, a good driver, attentive to our needs at all times, and a great connoisseur of the traditional architecture of wooden churches. Definitely recommended 100%. An unforgettable excursion.
Very interesting hike, in a little known area of Poland. The guide Matthias made us visit a series of wooden churches many of which Unesco heritage, explaining to me with great professionalism, competence and passion la.loro history. Exceptional pictorial decoration of the interior
A program more than filled 9 visits instead of the 4 planned! a guide with little care, careful on the interesting road also made us discover the beauty of the landscapes beyond region. We even visited a church of the xv not listed in UNESCO and which would deserve it as much as the others a Beautiful Iwkowa thank you to those who opened it and showed us
