Reviews
Fun underground salt mine experience including boat and train ride. Recommend if you've already been to wieliczka salt mine.
Loved this trip! ❤️ The train, water crossing and especially the slide were fantastic. So much fun for the whole family. Highly recommended! 😊
Very Nice and fun experience with Thousand Miles, Bochnia was a great time with lots of different activities. Hotel pickup was very punctual, Adam was friendly and spoke good English and Polish, would definitely go again and book through the same company for other experiences.
Simon was fantastic! Very knowledgeable, friendly, and kept us amused while sharing great local knowledge of the Salt mine and surrounding area. Came with us into the mine, giving additional information which was not part of the pre-recorded guide. Was prompt with pick-up, even though Kraków were hosting a marathon with many streets closed. I Highly recommend this tour. Thanks Simon.
Great informative trip , with good guides
We hadn’t used GetYourGuide before our trip to Krakow but were very glad we did as we ‘found’ the Thousand Miles tour company. We originally booked Krakow–Zakopane: Cable Car, Chocholow Baths, Cheese & Vodka through Thousand Miles but regretfully had to cancel the trip as we wouldn’t have had sufficient time to explore Krakow. We then booked the UNESCO Bochnia Salt Mine Tour & Boat Expedition with a hotel pickup. The night before the trip we were contacted by Adam who provided us with clear instructions regarding the hotel pickup. The next day, we were met by Adam, a really nice gentleman, who arrived on time, spoke very good English and chauffeured us to the salt mines with four other people. At this stage I’d add that we hadn’t fully appreciated that the tour was guided by a Salt Mine Guide who needed to be able to speak English, in our case. Thankfully, Adam had this all in hand and we were introduced to our guide and he and Adam accompanied us around the mine. The Salt Mine Guide and Adam brought the tour to life and introduced us to the ritual salt mine greeting Szczęść Boże, which means "God be with you". My apologies to all the people I met on the tour and mispronounced this greeting. The tour itself was informed by various video presentations, the audio guide, and facial projections onto manikins which added amusement and fun onto the tour. We were shown salt formations that provided an explanation of salt production over the ages. The boat expedition is from the lower part of the mines. To get there you have a choice of walking down a long ramp or taking a wooden slide. The slide is the more fun option but you will have to be wearing long trousers and not shorts. At the bottom of the mine there is a football pitch, a restaurant that serves excellent polish soup and bunk beds for school trips. Returning to the boat expedition, it isn’t one of the longest boat trips though it was a good laugh trying to embark the long boat. When we re-surfaced at the end of the tour, Adam presented us with some little hessian bags of salt which was a really nice touch. We were returned to our hotel having thoroughly enjoyed the day. Adam kindly gave us a list of recommendations for ‘Must Sees’, ‘Where to Eat’, ‘What to try in Krakow’, ‘Coffee & Drinks’ and his favourite walks. We ate at one of his recommendations, Morskie Oko which was fabulous though we’d recommend booking well in advance as the standby queue was a long wait. The Pierogi & Zurel (traditional sour rye soup) were similarly good recommendations. Thanks, Adam, for your excellent advice. Our only regret was not having time to fit in the Krakow–Zakopane: Cable Car, Chocholow Baths, Cheese & Vodka. The couple that accompanied us to the salt-mines had however been on that trip and said it was fabulous, next time maybe. So, a final thanks to Adam. We will be recommending Thousand Miles to family and friends and look forward to another trip to Krakow in the future.
The tour to Bochnia with Thousand Miles was honestly amazing! Everything went super smoothly—the bus was comfy, we left right on time, and there was zero stress or confusion the whole day. Huge shoutout to our guide, Adam from Thousand Miles! He was easily the best part of the trip. Instead of just rattling off dry history dates, he made every story actually interesting and had a great sense of humor. You could tell he genuinely loves what he does, and he took the time to answer all our random questions. Bochnia itself is definitely worth seeing, but having a great team and guide made it ten times better. Definitely recommending this to my friends!
Had an amazing experoence with our tour guide Adam. Very informative tour & Adam was brilliant.
Everything ran on time! Well organised and our guide Maciek was great with lots of helpful tips not only for the tour but for our stay in Krakow. Maciek was very friendly and took pictures for us and sent them on after the tour. His English was great and had lots to tell us :) highly recommended
Wonderful day, lots to see and learn. Very kind and knowledgeable guide (Ludwig)
We had a wonderful experience on this tour! Our driver, Peter, was very nice, friendly, and helpful. 100% recommended—truly the best!
Maciek was a real gentleman and good guide.
Booked trip through GET YOUR GUIDE Thousand Miles, who are excellent! very helpful communication great! after been let down last minute by Krakow direct!! Who cancelled our trip to Auschwitz without any communication at all!! We were offered trip to Salt Mines with train ride and boat ride. This trip was fantastic! Our guide Maciek was amazing totally reccomend visiting and booking with this Company who i can not thank enough. Laurie & David
Enjoyable tour and Maciek was extremely friendly
In my opinion very interesting but very long
Simon picked us up on time as scheduled. The mini van was very clean and comfortable. Simon provided us with a lot of tour related and general information on the road to the salt mines which was very smooth and careful. During the visit, Simon kept us well informed and provided us with all the information that we would need to know every step of the way during the tour. He was a terrific guide and we have a lovely and enjoyable day. Once the tour was over was were taken back to our hotel and dropped off right outside the door.
Very interesting trip. Marek was a great guide, very informative, friendly, and made sure we knew what was happening at each stage of the trip.
Martha did a great job, we are very satisfied , job well done
Guide was so attentive, knowledgeable and pleasant. I would recommend this tour with this guide without hesitation.
Excellent thanks to Simon our driver.
The tour was excellent and our driver/guide took great care of us. Highly recommended.
Had a fantastic day out at the salt mines. My guide Marta was amazing, and so knowledgeable on the history of the salt mines! She was an absolute joy and she even went out of her way to text me a huge list of recommendations of places to eat/things to do whilst in Krakow. Hopefully I will meet Marta again for another tour on my next visit to Krakow :)
Good time, very informative. The driver and guide Marta was lovely to speak and was lots of help.
Had a great day. Picked up at hotel. The mines were great, we did both mines, very different but Bohemia much quieter. We visited for longer than expected but all was good. Train ride and boat trip are short!!! The slide is fun but you need to walk back up to use the slide. Smaller souvenir shop but more reasonable than Weileska (not sure how to spell it!) Major was a great guide. Lovely day out
You were rushed They should of mentioned you have to climb 307 steps Everyone has there own beliefs So being a c/e The guild gave other nationaliltes 10mins to sit and pray And we have to stand and wait Boat and train ride rubbish Workers at the lift rude Outing at me to wait outside as I had to come up in the cage life with a totally different group So I was made very un comfortable £122.00 was not worth it
Thanks for the very nice, punctual and interesting tour of the Bochnia salt mines. Special thanks for Simon our guide, fluent in English, for his well timed and sometimes funny explanations !
I absolutely loved this mine trip, I also found Diamonds tò craft a diamond picakse. I CAN FINALLY GO TO THE NETHER ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Theres Is also a basketball field 😍 Theres was oalso an exellent driver, his name Is Peter
Everything was absolutely fantastic I would suggest this experience to everyone
Everything was punctual and well-organized. Pawel informed us well about the experience and was nice to talk to as well!
Another insight into the complicated history of Poland and in this case technical achievements . Ludwig was a very knowledgable and entertaining guide.
Fantastic day at the mine outlining the history of the salt mine in a great visual presentation which also included a train and interesting boat ride. Simon made the whole day go seemlessly from pickup to drop off with the help of Amelia so many thanks to both. Definantly a must see when visiting Krakow
Niko was an excellent guide for a great tour. The boat ride was ok at best
It was an interesting experience the boat ride was good and it was all in all a great experience
Audio tour was very informative. A good length with a few resting opportunities along the way.
10/10 experience! Our driver Olaf was so pleasant. Great conversations, told us a lot of information about the place we was going too, opened the door for us everytime we got in and out and all together the best driver we’ve had on our trip so far. Definitely recommend!!
Our guide was awesome. Big thanks to Peter :)
Very fun trip, the salt mine was nice and the driver was too.
Really fun adventure to the salt mines. Boat trip was very nice! Good length, and amazing guide/driver!
The tour was interesting with a very knowledgeable guide. Would have preferred a speaking guide rather than an audio guide. However once booked was unable to access information from Expedia about the trip and was told I would get a time and location by 8pm day before for pick up and didn’t receive this I had to contact them at 9pm. Unlike other providers I wasn’t given a vehicle registration or name of driver etc.
Interesting tour. Lots of information presented in various mediums, such as video exhibits, artifacts, and tour guide interaction. The option for pick up right at your hotel is wonderful. The short train and boat rides are really fun. My only caution is for those people with limited mobility. There is quite a lot of walking, standing, and stair climbing.
It was really fun, and the driver was also really nice!
This is the less popular of the two salt mines near Krakow. Audio headsets are used as the salt mine’s guide didn’t speak English. It was interesting to learn about the salt mine’s history since the 1200s. There is a very short boat ride (150 m), a train ride, and a slide. And lots of stairs. Margaret from the tour company speaks great English and is friendly and knowledgeable.
What a great tour. We were picked up by our guide Maciek, near to our apartment and on time. He made the drive to the salt mines fun and gave us local information along the way. Maciek helped us get to the front of the queue and arranged to pick us up later. The salt mines are so interesting and beautiful in places. The cathedral is especially beautiful with frescos carved into the salt. Great experience all round , Maciek was a great guide , looking after us, showing us where we went within the mines in his book and even giving us a little salt memento xx
Our visit to the salt mine was very good, our guide and our driver made it interesting. The tour took 4 hrs and a lot of walking, which at our age and the fact we have arthritis ,we did find it hard going but the guide did stop and give a rest break which was much needed.
Very good, guide was lovely and funny 😜
This week, we took the tour to the Bochnia Salt Mine, booked through Thousand Miles. It was an excellent experience, distinguished particularly by the fact that the tour includes a descent in a traditional mine lift, an underground train ride, and a boat trip. Another highlight was our guide, Kamil! Kamil provided clear information about the hotel pickup time before the tour started. During the drive, he shared various facts and interesting details and answered all our questions thoroughly. Furthermore, Kamil’s exceptional friendliness is what made our trip so incredibly special. All that remains is for me to say: a huge thank you to Thousand Miles Krakow—and especially to Kamil—for this perfect experience.
We thoroughly enjoyed our trip. Our guide was punctual on pickup. He took care of getting tickets to Bochnia Salt Mine. He also added extra bits of information during our tour which was helpful and informative. After the mine tour ended we got to see a very large steam engine used to raise and lower stuff in the mine. I got the impression we wouldn't have seen that steam engine without him. On the way home he made a quick side trip surprise to see an old mansion with a very large very old tree. Great trip!
It was an amazing experience wwe thoroughly enjoyed it. Magic was our driver and he was brilliant
It was a pleasure to take this tour with our guide, Margareth. She gave us a warm welcome from the very beginning and shared insights into the key differences between the two salt mines and their unique histories. The drive went by very quickly thanks to her. The salt mine itself is a truly timeless experience and a perfect place to visit on a hot day. Our guide inside the mine and the staff were all very friendly, funny, and even spoke a few words of French, which was a lovely touch. We would definitely do this experience again. It offers excellent value for money, and as a bonus, the food was very good ! Thanks again Margareth !
