Excellent choice. Staff brilliant and guided tour was educational. Great to skip long queues with pre booked tickets. Thousand miles provided a great service. I will certainly use again.

Reviews
We had a fun drive down chatting about our experiences in krakow and our guide Nico recommended a lot of places in krakow and activities to do in prague In summary, I recommend the trip to learn history in a more detailed look
A trip to Auschwich should be done by everyone at least once. The history of the mass murders there is just horrific. Trip picked us up and dropped us at hotel. We were in a larger group to visit the camps with an English speaking guide, who was excellent. She was very knowledgeable, answered questions and pulled no punches about the facts of the death camps. It was harrowing, humbling and brutal but we should never forget what humans can do to each other. Maybe a few people in power should visit /revisit to ensure atrocities are not repeated!!
I would recommend booking this tour, however be warned that the time you book may not be the time you actually go. We had booked for 10:10am but received a message the evening before telling us we would be collected at 1:25pm. When you are on a city break you plan all your trips to get the most of the time there. The time change meant we had to change our evening plans as wouldn’t be back in time. We were also travelling with children so we got back very late as we didn’t enter Auschwitz until 3:50pm. We were expecting to start earlier and be back earlier.
I had a great experience on the trip to Auschwitz with Mr. Simon. He was always on time, which made everything run smoothly. His help and knowledge about the site were really valuable. He answered all our questions and was respectful throughout the visit. I highly recommend him as a guide!
Peter our host was great very knowledgeable laugh a minute while travelling only the 2 of us so it felt more private very happy with our tour operator
Just got back from our trip to Auschwitz/Birkenau. Great communication about pick up times etc & well organised. Our driver Tomas was great too
Driver was brilliant and updated me that he was running 15 minutes late which was brilliant, tour of Auschwitz is really good and informative and liked the idea of the headphones so we could here the guide however when we went to Birkenhead the guide walked way to fast and we couldn’t keep up we were a few minutes behind but he just started talking without us so we were slightly upset we missed most of what was said
Everything went smoothly, prompt pick up from hotel in clean & comfortable transport. Driver Patrick was very helpful as was the tour guide who was very knowledgeable. Experience was sobering and really gives you an understanding of the atrocities that went on.
The tour was cancelled at the very last minute, on the very morning itself. Very disappointing as we had travelled all the way to Krakow for this.
Very very poignant and tough to see, but a must do in life so we never forget how terrible things can get and hopefully how far we’ve come.
While the trip to Auschwitz-Birkenau itself was well organised and very educational, the organisation from Thousand Miles was terrible. We booked the trip to be picked up from our hotel at 9.30 AM. At 10 the evening before we were contacted in our hotel and told we would be picked up at 5.55AM, with no option for a refund. We received no communication ahead of the trip telling us we’d need our passports. There was very little communication about the transfer from one site to another and that transfer was extremely busy, the bus was too full and we had to stand. On the return trip we were not returned to our hotel as advised on the ticket. I would urge anybody the think twice before using this company.
Great pick up at hotel with a very informative guide very well run and I would not hesitate to recommend
Need to be fit and have stamina. Lots of stairs and steps, many without handrails. Overall experience was an insightful and chilling reminder of what Humans are capable of. We had an excellent Tour Guide who told us the process of the people from arriving at the Camp to being gassed.
A must do when in Krakow and the tour guide was very knowledgeable. This is a harrowing experience but very much worthwhile.
This was an amazing experience. Our driver was wonderful and informative. The tour guide was absolutely perfect. Asking questions to make you think about what we were seeing. We skipped the lines, got in quick. Extremely organized.
Informed at 1945 night before pick up time changed from 0930 to 0535with no option to cancel or get refund. Do not book this trip with this company
Although our pick up time changed (06:15am) this actually worked out for the best as we then had the rest of the day to spend exploring Krakow. Peter picked us up from the hotel, on time, and drove us and a few others to Auschwitz where we met up with a larger group. He already had our tickets, which is especially important as many tours seem not to pre-book the tickets for their group leaving people to queue from 5am to get access to the sites. We met up with Artur - a polish speaking guide - and Maya, who was our translator. Together they have us a really good tour through Auschwitz. Unfortunately we didn't get chance to see in every building, but they showed us a lot of them. The stops between each little bit of talking felt just the right length of time, and everything was explained clearly and in detail. If anyone had questions, these were answered too. Once we had finished in Auschwitz, we gathered as a group onto a larger bus which transported us to Birkenau. This was a shorter tour, delivered by the same guides, but was just as poignant and informative. Maya linked the sites we moved through, to some of the pictures that were on display on Auschwitz, which made everything so much more tangible. We would have loved to spend longer in both sites, but this was an extremely informative tour and I think it would be impossible to cover everything. Once we finished, Peter collected us back in his minibus and transported us back to Krakow and dropped people off. He even dropped us at a different spot to where we were picked up as we wanted to explore a bit more. Overall an excellent, well ran tour, and we are very happy with it and would recommend this tour to everyone. We would like to especially point out how good Maya was. She was clear, thorough, and incredibly respectful of the sites. We had time to reflect at each places, and also I loved how she commented on the fact that unfortunately previous visitors had vandalised some of the barracks at Birkenau (carving their names into the walls). Such a sad site to see, and we cannot understand how people could be so disrespectful. Thank you again!
Excellent driver and extremely knowledgeable tour guide, both made the trip a memorable experience would definitely recommend
We were mixed in a van with other travel providers customers. Those people were either told to bring food or they could order through food their provider. This operator mentioned NOTHING about no food being available at the sites and that you will be traveling w those eating their lunches or snacks in van. Since 1000 Wishes won’t tell you there are no food options, I will tell you! Some people can go 7-8 hours of not eating all day. Some cannot. I would have liked to have brought something with us. Why the listing doesn’t tell you to bring a snack, I don’t know? I mentioned it to 1000 Wishes and they didn’t seem keen to change the listing to tell their customers to bring food. Also, not travel operator’s fault, but tickets to the camps are in short supply. We couldn’t go on the day we signed up, so we were fortunate to have the next day available to go on tour. We were picked up on time. I wish the driver did more of a “tour” or pointed things of interest out while on the way. Instead it was the radio the entire time.
Great eye opening tour. Well organised with what’s app support. Shout out to our driver/ organiser Jakob who was very friendly and made sure we got back to the hotel on time before our flight
Fantastic tour, seamless pick up and drop off. The guide was great, very knowledgeable and kept everyone engaged. Would highly recommend this company and this trip
It was a terrifying experience! Finally, I understood the horrors of the Nazi regime! The organization of the tour was excellent, because Olaf is extraordinary! He helped us a lot, because he messaged us the day before, to indicate the meeting place. He waited for us in the parking lot at Auschwitz and introduced us to the guide, then accompanied us to Birkenau. Olaf is a professional, to whom we thank and whom we recommend!
Guide cancelled last minute terrible service………………………….and after that will take a week to get refunded will not book through Tripadvisor again
Pickup was much earlier than expected (6 am) and arrived at the busiest time for museum entry. The queues were very long compared to when we left. I felt that a later tour entry would have made for a better experience. Tour guide was knowledgeable but was sometimes hard to understand/spoke fast. The museum tour was well organized but they really push you through quickly. I didn't feel like I had adequate time to really absorb the historical and emotional importance of the site as we were rushed from place to place. I would still recommend this experience to anyone and everyone, lest history repeat itself. Remember that this is not only a museum, but a memorial. Dress appropriately. It was nice to see so many people respectfully wearing black, but also saw many tourists in jean shorts, etc. No selfies allowed. It was disheartening to see so many tourists happily posing for pictures with Birkenau in the background. This is the site of mass murder, not Bali. Be respectful.
Well worth a visit. Makes you stop and think. took loads of photos of the boards to digest later - as the guide gave so much info, I was overflowing. Tour company changed the pickup from hotel time the day before from 9.30am to 13.50 via whatsapp, so make sure you check your messages. Person using whatsapp came across was a bit rude/blunt, I think that's in the Polish nature. After reading reviews of different tour companies changing times / cancelling / long waits to get in, apart from the change in pickup time it all went OK and was relieved the trip took place, got back about 9ish
Visiting Auschwitz was the main reason for visiting Krakow, this company was fantastic in supporting this to happen, friendly team, very punctual, also keeping us updated with the plans, the tour guide was exceptional with his knowledge and obvious passion for the sharing of the history, his respect for the history was palpable. We will definitely be recommending this company to friends/family and I plan on returning with my husband so will be making plans through these.
The tour of the camp was moving and thought provoking. The guide was very good and helped put may things into perspective. The organisers are selling 9:30 pickups and tickets when in reality they don’t do this time. They pickup at 03:30 and get you in the queue for 6:30, so they can get early tickets on the day. You get a text about the time change mid evening the day before!
Heartbreaking, eye opening experience & wouldn’t have been such an experience without our tour guide Michal! He was very informative and sensitive. Our driver Peter also made the experience much easier as he was constantly communicating with us and we got to go in within 5 minutes of being there due to the company’s excellent organisation. Highly recommend tours with this company - especially this one as we only booked last minute and were still accommodated.
Great experience, very sad but lots of history shared from tour guide. On time and great service from driver. Thankyou
We received confirmation of the pick up time the night before, our driver Marcin picked us up from our hotel and took us to another meeting point, where we got on the coach with Piotr to take us to Auschwitz. Everything was well organised and the whole day an amazing experience which we both enjoyed. Thank you Thousand Miles :)
Fabian was a great rour guide, very informative and made it his mission to ensure everyone had a great tour. The only negative was waiting around before going in the first camp for 40 minutes but understandable.
Despite our coach breaking down on the outward journey, the driver made some swift telephone calls and with the help of other operators having spaces, we were all located other transport within 10 minutes and were on our way. An excellent guide, and using earphones and receiver, we were able to hear her commentry loud and clear. We'll organised.
The tour guide was very informative however we felt the tour of the camp 1 / museum was very rushed and we didn’t have much time to stop in each room but the tour of Birkenau was much better.
Booked 2 trips for myself my wife and our two friends. Sadly due to a cancer diagnosis we had to cancel our journey and with that the trips . I contacted the company before we were even due to fly to Poland to inform them of our cancellation Sadly I've had no contact from this company. I had read that cancellation 24 hours before the trips could lead to a refund.
Need to start earlier in the day as walking around the camp when it’s dark is not recommended as to don’t t allow for the time of season
We used thousand miles krakow again recently for the Auschwitz tour, and this was superbly arranged again, from Pietr who was our driver, very good/safe driving and kept us informed, and happy to answer any questions, through to the host at Auschwitz who was just phonomenol, she had answers to every question, she was clearly invested in what she does and you could see the emotion in her too on what was a very difficult day to see the terrible things that went on during the war, had a really good day and once again thousand miles krakow delivered what they said they would, and we wouldnt hesitate in recommending them. We will be coming back next year and already want to do the Salt Mines and we will be using thousand miles krakow for this.
The tour was great. The guide picked us up at our hotel and walked us to the van as our street was too narrow to drive on. Our guide as we toured the camps was very knowledgeable. We were told where to get on our bus, where to meet our bus...... everything was clear and organized. There are a lot of tours that do the same visit but would highly recommend just as it was so organized.
We all have heard about what happened in the 1940s at the notorious concentration and extermination camps of neighbours Auschwitz and Birkenau. But it’s when you walk through the areas that showed the ugly side of humanity that you realise the magnitude of the genocide. The tour is eye/opening but also leaves you with a sense of despair. How can humans do that to other humans? In short this was an experience not to be missed.
Harrowing but important part of history that we felt we needed to see. We would recommend any adult to go. It is not suitable for children.
Couldn’t have chosen a better company to go with for our day trip to Auschwitz! I learnt so much from our tour guide Evelyn, who was happy to answer any questions we had and even explained the topic further on the travel both there and back from the camps. We also made such a good bond with Evelyn due to how comfortable she made the whole group feel. It also rained very heavily while we were exploring the outside camp areas, even thundered, and our tour guide was still happy to carry on the tour. The trip as a whole was very organised and every step including the transfer and taxi went smoothly. Thank you to Evelyn and the team!
Terrible communication! Booked this trip for our entire family, got instant confirmation saying, NO NEED TO CONFIRM, WE’LL CONTACT YOU THE NIGHT BEFORE WITH PICKUP TIME. Great - thought we were good to go. Received email morning before tour saying they may not have enough drivers, may need to change to the next day. Told them OK, either day worked. Went out for the day, got back, got email saying THEY CANCELLED because we didn’t respond in a 2 hour time frame with our guest names THAT SAME DAY….WHAT???? Why not ask the names when booking, or emailing? Now, we have no trip to Auschwitz and head home. STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY.
The tour is as advertised, you won't be disappointed with the experience. The best part of scheduling with 1000 miles was the driver Tomek who did the hotel pickups. He was a real chatter box, in the brief 15-20 minutes while rounding up the other guest to take us the the main bus, he filled me in with all sorts of advice for visiting Krakow and excellent restaurants recommendations. Also in that time he offered vivid descriptions of what it was like to grow up in Krakow. If you are in Krakow I would suggest booking a tour on your first day because the pick up drivers for 1000 miles are an invaluable resource and will make your stay so much better.
The Trip was amazing. Olaf was our Guide/Advisor and he was really nice. I'd definetly go there again if the experience stys like it is now.
This tour is a must if you are visiting Poland. We went with Thousand Miles as we had booked a few tours with them. They were professional and arrived to collect us at our hotel. The tour itself was very emotional and the tour guide who showed us around the camp was fantastic and took her time explaining the horrors within the camps. This is a long day but well worth every minute, we didn't feel rushed and at the end of the tour we were taken back to our hotel.
Would not recommend. Advertised as a private mini van tour. The mini van collects you from your hotel and then you meet at a bus stop with 30 other people which takes you to auschwitz after a 2 hour drive. Despite booking the 9:30am tour we were informed we’d be collected at 13:30pm which was frustrating as we were hoping to be back for the evening. When raising this with the provider they said the times were subject to change, even though the advert states up to one hour earlier or later. The ticket when we arrived was for 16:00pm entry which made us think this was done intentionally. Funny how they couldn’t notify before the 24 hour cancellation cut off. Tour was very rushed.
Pawel was courteous and punctual. He encouraged our questions to him whilst travelling and explained about the different parts of the trip very well
Very professional and knowledgeable!! On time , great tour! I would highly recommend! I took three excursions with this company, they were great!
Absolutely brilliant tour to aushwitz with Pawel.. very good and informative.. definitely gonna go with thousand miles again and with Pavel
I would like to congratulate Olaf for his professionalism. Outstanding driving, with caution. Lots of anecdotes and advice given along the way. Always on time.
