This was an unbelievable tour, very moving. Pawel, the guide was exceptional, told us the story of Auschwitz in a way that helped us understand the place and what happened. He has been a guide for 19 years and the experience showed and greatly enhanced the experience. We travelled by train, which was about 5 min late to Oswiecim, and we arrived at the meeting place a couple of minutes before the due time of 13.50. Apologies to Royal Tours for cutting it fine, was a bit out of our control unfortunately! Royal Tours were very good in providing this tour.

Itinerary
Visit KL Auschwitz 1. Walk through the iron gate bearing the notorious slogan Arbeit Macht Frei. See 22 brick barracks, which were prison for hundreds of thousands of victims of the Holocaust. The most chilling is block number 11, the so-called prison within the prison. Block 11 contained special torture chambers including dark chambers or standing cells where various punishments were inflicted on prisoners. The first attempts to kill people with Zyklon B took place in this block. The only preserved crematorium and gas chamber is located at the end of the camp. After the visit to KL Auschwitz 1, travel in the minivan to KL Auschwitz 2 Birkenau. This part of the camp is 25 times larger than Auschwitz 1 and it was the largest of the death camps. Over 1,100,000 people were murdered here. End your visit at the Memorial and pay respect to all of the victims of Nazi's genocide.

Be prepared for a very moving and sombre experience. The tour was well organised and pretty much as expected, with a knowledgeable and respectful guide. It was extremely hot when we visited, so I would strongly recommend taking plenty of water with you. We were glad we had brought our own. Lunch was supposed to be included but wasn’t provided, although this wasn’t a problem for us as we had taken snacks and there was an opportunity to buy food and drinks at the transfer station. Overall, it was a very worthwhile experience. It feels strange to describe a visit to Auschwitz as “enjoyable”, but it was certainly meaningful, informative and something I’m very glad we did.
Do not trust the morning departure times listed by this operator. They engage in a deceptive practice of selling "ghost tickets" for standard morning slots that they do not actually own. Once you are locked in, they send a last-minute notification changing your pickup time to a pre-dawn hour (around 5AM) to force you into a physical standby queue at the museum gates. This is a highly stressful, dishonest way to run a tour. We refused to participate in this scam, which left us deeply disappointed and without a way to visit the memorial today. While GetYourGuide safely refunded our money immediately, the emotional disappointment remains. Protect your holiday plans: book your entry time slot directly on the official Auschwitz-Birkenau website and use the local train (only 18 PLN) to get there. Avoid this agency at all costs.
Walking not for the faint of heart. Great experience to behold. Very overwhelming. It is a must see.
We got fantastic service and our guide was excellent. He was very knowledgeable and constantly reminded us to show respect at side. We really appreciated the tour and we can surely recommend this guidance.
Auschwitz tour with driver michal from royal tours. Really happy with the tour.🌟
The entire experience went off without a hitch. I would highly recommend this company for this tour.
Guide was very knowledgeable and gave good level of detail. However, it was not great that there was no consideration for those who were not quick walkers - signal from head set lost if got to far behind. Needs some further work on access for those with a disability to aid everyone being able to appreciate the majority of the historical site.
You are not a reliable place. I order a visit and the local operator changed the time and the place of meeting less than 24 hours before the trip, yet your company had ZERO accountability and blamed the operator.
This is an terrible tour company. They changed my tour start time from 10am to 5.40am which we could not make because we were staying a long way out from the pickup point. I knew they could change the time but when I called them to explain our problem getting there for that time the were not just uninterested but the person I was communicating with was so rude and was in need of customer relations training. Avoid!!
Auschwitz was an incredible thing to do. My review focuses on the operators taking us to and from Auschwitz itself. I booked for 10am with a lunch, knowing it would be a long day. We were not picked up till 11:15 and did not get to Auschwitz until 1:30pm. The drive there entailed with myself, 26 weeks pregnant, squashed onto the back row of a minibus unable to even straighten my shoulders out for an hour and a half. We then witness the driver texting one handed and two handed throughtout the whole journey whilst driving us there. This caused him to swerve on multiple occassions. Photographic evidence can be provided. We were also not allowed to eat or drink on the bus. An hour and a half warm journey not able to have a sip of water was quite hard especially having to watch our driver eat and drink whilst he text and drove. As an adult, it felt very hypocritical and belittleing. Once arrived, no detail was given on when lunch would be provided. Tickets were handed out waiting outside the museum which could have been done in a more effecient way like the multiple times waiting for buses or on the buses themselves. We then did the first part of the tour and you are not allowed to eat or drink in there either so this is now going on many hours without basic water. The tour and guide was fantastic. Once Auschwitz 1 was complete we were given 10 minutes to eat lunch which is not an adequate amount of time, nevermind a trip to the toilet. We then finished the second half of the tour and headed back to the bus where we were once again told we could not have a drink on it. The main organiser got a lift back on the bus with the driver we had and not once did the driver use his phone. Once the organiser was dropped off, back he went to the phone again. It showed to me that he understood it is not only illegal but not appropriate to do on the job. I did tell the organiser that the driver was texting and driving and he had no response to give. Royal Tours are the company used.
Really well organised and such a life changing experience! If your are travelling to krakow I would %100 recommend the tour with royals tours
From the pick up time to drop off time everything was fantastic great tour guide very knowledgeable. The packed lunch was just right to have before moving on for the second part of the tour. I highly recommend it
A well worth experience if coming to Krakow. Very insightful. Driver and tour guide were both very nice and friendly.
The tour guide was very knowledgeable Although it noted pick up at hotel, we had to go to another meeting point, advised the night before. This was about 15 mins away, but apart from that all was very well organised
Was very sad but a great experience. Definitely needs to be seen if travelling to Poland. Tour guide was very informative.
This was so sad and yet very interesting to see our tour guide was very professional explained everything in such a good manner ! It’s an eye opener this trip and would advise anyone to do it ! Our lunch that was provided was very tasty !
À dramatic story! So sad for all of them. Innocent people, humains! Murdered! Must never forget that that can happen again in history... Not so much for me, but my children and grand children... and off spring!
Was to be picked up at hotel but was moved to central location! Was good tour but was at fast pace that some were unable to keep up and missed out on talk by the your guide especially at second location. Lunch was good.
Our booking was changed 2 hours in front of the starting time, we agreed. However, we never received a lunch box. When asked for a partial refund they told us they made a lunch box. (We just never received it.)
We have an excellent guide that was amazing, I should rate this trip as 5.0 but only give 3 because the company totally forgot our Lunchbox , we get it in the bus home from the visit .. The luchbox was a low budget box with one apple and 1 sandwich that you could split into two pieces , there also included one water . I think there is a good idea to mention that you have ordered the trip with lunchbox already when you have start the journey at the bus .. I should not even think about to do the saltmine and Auswitch on the same day , we split it into two days and we also get two splendid tours with much time at the places … The guide was splendid at both places and I rate them with five ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Book the tours by you self is a moneysaver :)
it was surreal to walk in the same footsteps as so many people who were tortured and murdered. This was a life-changing experience for me
Nothing but problems with this booking. Booked this tour and advised at time of booking there would be a disabled person using a mobility scooter. Was assured this would not be a problem. Before we left I got an message with the wrong dates for tour so they had to change to what we had booked. The day before the tour I got contacted with meeting point, which we had booked to be collected and dropped off at hotel. I mentioned about the mobility scooter and I was told then that Viator had not informed them about the disabled person. We had to provide more information about that, but eventually they said it should be ok. The Guide at Auswitz could have been better. I understand they have to keep moving, we could hear her but she was too far in front to see what she was talking about. My brother in law, in his mobility scooter, was looking forward to this trip, but we were all disappointed. We got 10 minutes for lunch then told we had to get back on the bus. I was still in the middle of eating lunch and had to throw it away as i couldn't finish it on the bus as eating wasn't allowed. I visited Auswitz last year with another tour operator and wish I had booked with them again this time. Alot of hassle for a waste of money.
Changed our pick up time from 0930 to 0530 lunch given was substandard and cheap....rushed through both the camps...missed out buildings ... hardly any details given.... avoid this company at all costs
The positives that the tour was good the lady who took us around was fantastic and really new her stuff. The driver and the group leader were great and helpful. The negatives our tour was put back from 1030 to 1330 that was a bit of blow as we wasted half a day waiting around for our lift the they were late picking us up which really impacted our days plans we had. The meal was ok a small roll a apple and a bottle of water and a wafer not really enough considering it's a 7 hour day.
Our guide was very good at explaining the many different parts of the two extermination camps. A very sobering tour.
The trip time was changed to later in the afternoon and then it was cancelled. Did not get to experience at all…
We booked our tour fairly last minute through Tripadvisor as we had thought we could just do it ourselves (which apparently you can’t do?!). Royal Krakow Tours are great though. We were picked up from our hotel (does cost extra) via mini bus and taken to Auschwitz, which is about 90mins from Krakow. Our guide (can’t remember her name annoyingly!) was excellent and very informative. The museum itself could be a lot more interactive, it feels quite basic, and apparently will be in time more engaging(not the fault of Royal Krakow Tours). All in all we were at Auschwitz for over 3hrs, and are glad we saw it. Not sure I’d return in a hurry, as expected it’s very bleak, but I’d recommend booking through Royal Krakow Tours if you want to experience Auschwitz without the hassle of organising yourself.
Our guide Evaline was excellent she shared with us the tragic stories of Aushwitz and Birkenhau with true compassion for those who suffered. It was a hard and humbling experience that we'll never forget. The only downside was the rush to move through the exhibitions but with so many visitors I suppose it's inevitable.
the place to visit is a must but make sure you're guide is english and not french as we couldn't understand a word she said also check your pick up it's not your hotel it's the Auschwitz carpark we had to pay extra for hotel pick up
The tour guides were excellent!! Although the place has a sad story the tour was very well done! thank you!
Efficient pickup, superb tour guide (Evelina) who was extremely knowledgeable about Auschwitz., and sensitive to this site where a million Jews were horrendously killed after suffering a degrading life before being murdered.
Cannot thank them enough!! We got cancelled on last minute by another company and they quickly got us a spot! Absolutely amazing experience!! Cute little lunch too!
Auschwitz is definitely a place to visit, however don't book through Viator, We booked two day trips with these one of them with lunch and on the first trip they changed the time which we booked for 10am and they changed it to 11.50, the driver from royal tours was good though, although lunch will give a miss next time as not very nice, the second tour was for Schindler's Factory and did not receive any tickets(nor did another couple from United kingdom aswell) so we all had to purchase second entry tickets to the museum, we requested a refund to no avail, very poor show, very poor company and by the way the tickets are cheaper on the door (half the price) than paying through Viator as there is no line to skip on any day you just walk in and get your ticket, so paying the extra is pointless.
They changed the timing of the tour from 0900 to 1300 for a 6-7 hour trip the day before so we were not able to go, very disappointing,
This experience was unforgettable ! The tour was very organised and the guide was excellent with so much knowledge of those terrible days . The only criticism would be is that it was a very long way to walk and we found it difficult to keep up the pace from one particular place to another The guide would start talking before we were all assembled , which was rather rushed . Also the guide needs to speak much louder so everyone in the group can hear we were also plagued with heavy rain which is nobody’s fault but unfortunate An unforgettable experience
We were picked up bang on time and shown onto large mini bus to settle down for drive to the camps. Piotr our guide (hope spelled it right) was clear with instructions at all points - introducing us to our English speaking guide who was waiting at Auschwitz 1 for our arrival. He was very informative throughout the whole tour. Meeting us after lunch stop at Birkenau. We selected the lunch option and was welcome! The queues for food were quite lengthy and we didn’t have time for that so having a pre ordered lunch (which was fresh) was perfect. Safely delivered back to drop off point - all in all a humbling experience not to be missed. Be prepared, you may not hear until later in the afternoon about precise times of pick up and where but it did come through and we had no complaints- a smooth trip.
From start to finish the whole day went smoothly. The driver and tour rep were helpful, friendly and so efficient. The experience itself was incredibly sad and humbling but a must visit.
Royal Tours were very organised, with clear communication and prompt arrival at the meet location. Marcin our tour guide had a wealth of knowledge and demonstrated such wonderful compassion and empathy for the human life lost in this place. An emotional experience, but I would recommend Royal Tours to take you through it.
We had Evalina a a guide and she was just brilliant. She treated the tour with the reverence and dignity it needed. It was an emotive and sombre visit and she imparted the information with the suitable tone and impact the entire day deserved. A brilliant tour guide for Auschwitz 1 and 2. Thanks so much.
I would use a different company this trip. Nowhere in the listing didn’t say transportation was not provided without paying an extra fee. The listing also said that lunch was provided. Other people got their lunch right when they got on the shuttle which was 12 PM and we did not get her food until I asked for it, which ended up being around 5 PM.
The tour was excellent, considering the emotional subject matter. The best part were the tour guide and driver. Our driver, Peter, arrived right on time (our tour time and pickup were moved back an hour but I was notified the night before) and the minivan was very comfortable with only 3 passengers (joined larger group when we arrived at Auschwitz). Once we arrived at the site, our English speaking tour guide, Magdalena, joined us and spent the rest of the afternoon walking us around and telling us the history of Auschwitz and the horrible events that took place there. She was fantastic...full of knowledge, very pleasant and spoke excellent English. Our tour group was about 20 persons so very manageable. Everything was planned well, and our drive back was again very comfortable with Peter being an excellent driver. I would recommend this tour and especially Peter and Magdalena.
Expedience that horrible time with an fantastic guide, important for further generations, this is a hard trip, but very important.
Everything was most memorable very much enjoyed. Just sorry we ordered packed lunch. Stale bread. Threw sandwich’s in the bin
We booked, before we went to Krakow, we had days planned on our 3 day trip, so booked Auschwist tour to be picked up at 10am, to be messaged the night before on WhatsApp that are time had changed to 12.40. So leaving it yto late to try and change to a different operator as trips get booked up, then we never actually left Krakow till 1.15 pm, so never got to destination till 3pm.
We weren't picked up at our hotel and we weren't put on a smaller bus like we'd booked. The tour once we got to the camps was really good but the guide on our coach barely said a word.
I absolutely recommend this tour. Picked up from our hotel and dropped off again. An emotional experience and one which I would recommend to everyone. The transport was comfortable, the staff were professional and our guide so knowledgable took questions and you could feel his compassion for the subject. This would be good for anyone to experience but in particular secondary school pupils.
Seeing the hundreds of shoes and prosthetics in a huge pile with the little baby shoes was heartbreaking also the pile of human hair that was used to make uniforms for the German officers
It a very realible company for visitors, very king and helpful. Will recomand this company for Auschwitz’s birkenau tour !
The tour to Auschwitz-Birkenau was very informative but the tour guide we had talked way too fast. I am American so am an English speaker and even I had a hard time understanding her because of how fast she talked. I know that many others in our tour group understand English but their native tongue is another language so had a very difficult time understanding the guide. Also, the tour was very rushed. We also had a bag lunch but didn't understand that there wouldn't be any time to eat it. We had to quickly gobble it down in five minutes, between the tour of both Auschwitz and Birkenau.
