My tour guide wasn’t very informative, wasn’t very nice and I felt like I was annoying him. Ruined my experience. He told us a little info about anything. I started listening to a tour guide behind me. We left instead off going to the second camp.

Itinerary
Visit KL Auschwitz 1. Walk through the iron gate bearing the notorious slogan Arbeit Macht Frei, which means Work Sets You Free. See 22 brick barracks, which were prison for hundreds of thousands of victims of the Holocaust. The most chilling is block number 11, the so-called prison within the prison. Block 11 contained special torture chambers including dark chambers or standing cells where various punishments were inflicted on prisoners. The first attempts to kill people with Zyklon B took place in this block. The only preserved crematorium and gas chamber is located at the end of the camp. After the visit to KL Auschwitz 1, travel in the minivan to KL Auschwitz 2 Birkenau. This part of the camp is 25 times larger than Auschwitz 1 and it was the largest of the death camps. Over 1,100,000 people were murdered here. Between 62 wooden barrack are the ruins of 4 crematoriums and gas chambers, which were destroyed by the Nazis in an effort to hide the evidence of their crimes.

everything was perfectly organised and on time. The guide was excellent and very friendly, prompt and knowledgeable! I recommend it.
The company was wonderful at communicating. The entire tour was smooth. The guide spoke good English and was very knowledgeable.
Guide was very informative and interesting. Cost was quite high but this is because we didn’t book before we left the uk and there were few dates available - book in advance. Tour was well organised, bus and meeting points advised. Kept up to date with the tour and plans. It’s very busy and felt rushed at times but this isn’t the tour guides fault - this is because of the sheer volume of visitors at the camps. Camps are vast, photography isn’t permitted at times. There are cafes at the sites if needed, lunch option was given. We travelled by train from Krakow Glowny.
The tour was very sad and moving. The hardship experienced by the imprisoned and murdered was detailed by the guide who was respectful and informative. The information given was respectful whilst explaining the experiences of people who spent time in both camps.
An amazing experience. The story is told in such a way that you can really imagine what it was like.
They posted photos of the meeting point with an address link, but that place doesn't even exist. Then, they sent a completely different address via WhatsApp—so how are we supposed to know which one to use if they don't answer messages or calls? We experienced a huge amount of stress. Thank God we made it to the tour in time, but we definitely do not recommend them!
We ordered lunch and payed for it. But we did’nt get it. They wrote at 2.44 om to tell us that we could get our lunch at some place, but the bus wars already gone. Now they don’t want to pay us back for food they did not deliver. Yvonne who was showing around was the sweetest lady.
Expect an expansive description of the atrocities that took place there. Our guide was excellent and passionate about his tour.
I made the mistake of not checking my mail where the time had been changed, they had tried to call me but i didn't pick up because it was an unknown number. At meeting point another great guide helped us with finding a solution. And in the end we came along on his tour even though it was already full booked. Such a great service, will definitely recommend them .
We have booked in advance and we knew that time could change a bit. But we have received email a day before at 9 in the evening! There was change not only about time, but also meeting point! Unfotunately we do not read emails at 9 evening! We have tried to reach them in the morning to check the meeting point, but unfortunately it is impossible - they are not answering emails, and they do not answer the phone! That is totally unprofesional to change everything night before and then not to double confirm with customers. We have paid almost 250 eur, but we do not know what do to and we exactly we need to go. I am trying to call them, but no luck. It looms like scam company.
Lots of effort put into this, and organized. Tough subject. But covered objectively, with facts. We went in 33 degree heat and the tour guide was very professional, and seemed unbothered by it.
Seek for another tour! Horrible. Our guide was slow, spoke almost understandable English and when it was understandable she repeated the same things over and over. The cherry on the top was that the guide we had to bear for the whole time coughed and sneezed to the mic all the time. We chose to escape the tour as soon as possible and created a better experience with internet sources (there are plenty) at Birkenau. I would steer away from this one unless my life was at stake.
10/10 Everybody should Go and See this place once in their Lifetime. Our Guide was great and the Tour well organized.
Basic knowledge about WW II and german concentration camps is necessary to „feel“ it in the right way.
A weird feeling that this has become too much of a tourist attraction. The guiding was very lack lustre, to be polite, with the headphone quality inadequate. We gave up with the guide and just did our own tour. We only started to feel the horror of it all over the following two days when we had time to contemplate what we had seen. The death wall has been turned into a shrine wish deflected thoughts away from the stark horror of the killings The history of the Jewish quarter and ghetto in Krakow added to the whole appalling story.
DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. we booked for a auschawitz tour at 12pm, we received a text the day before saying our booking had been moved to 7.45am. Not a time that was at all similar or close to what we had originally booked. Now we are unable to visit the last place on our holiday and our tickets have been booked for months. AVOID
We where collected on time from the pickup point, this was my second visit to Auschwitz and the modernisation to some of the blocks was very noticeable.
It was likely a well-organized guided tour, but late in the evening before our scheduled departure, we received a call informing us that the English-language tour had been cancelled and that German was the only available option. As a result, we spent four hours on the tour without understanding any of the information provided. They are quick to respond to emails; however, this offers little reassurance when no alternative solutions are available.
So I booked with another tour group that cancelled last minute and I was able to get a spot on Royal tours, there was a collection/pick up option but I prefer to make my own way. The initial tour was for 12:00 which was changed to 11:30 with ample notice. They also offer a food option for only 40 Zloty. You get given your assigned sticker by the host who takes you to your tour guide from the assigned meeting point (they send you a google maps link on WhatsApp so you cannot get lost) greeted by the tour guide and you’re on your way, both tours probably take 3 hours in total, it’s very busy but the atmosphere is something else. The guide was great, so informative, I would recommend Royal Tours to all. Five stars!
The guide is key and our guide was fantastic. H spoke clearly and did not get overely emotional but yet his delivery was heart felt.
We visited Auschwitz at 1230 on 18th January and were given an orange badge. Our tour guide (sadly I didn’t get his name but hopefully with date and time you will know plus he is in attached photo) was absolutely phenomenal. He spoke with such passion and brought everything to life. Both my husband and I felt we had learned so much and I really hope he gets to hear what an impression he made to us and all on the tour. Thank you
I booked this tour and was very worried as I had seen online multiple negative experiences with tour operators that tickets are not guaranteed etc and you may have to queue on arrival and then be turned away. This was not the case. We we collected in a small shared car on time. Our driver was very friendly and informed us of the order of events. We met an English tour guide who explained everything with interesting facts and answer any questions. It was very well organised and we were so well looked after. Tickets had already been purchased ahead of time. You must visit !!!
This company was absolutely brilliant, (I was a little nervous, after booking my tip to Autzwich, due to false propaganda, and reviews) There bus Driver and tour guide Peter was amazing and informative, we need not have had any worries. The other two lady tour guides will also brilliant. Thank you all so much.
Review of Royal Tours transfer more than Auschwitz. Not a pleasant experience. Asked for us to change from hotel pick up to meet at a central pickup point. Very abrupt on the day with limited information shared. Transport was less comfortable than other tour operators used during our Krakow trip (noisy and poor air conditioning). Everything seemed very rushed and included needing to change bus to accommodate different languages. There was not sufficient time to rest and have a drink/snack. When a comfort break was given on the way to the museum, they stopped off at toilets that needed payment before continuing a couple of minutes on to the museum with free toilets.
Booked a ticket that said it was in stock 10 days in advance of visiting Auschwitz. We travelled for 4 days to make the booking and once arriving to our hotel the night before we got a WhatsApp saying it was cancelled. It suggested we queue at 6am the next day to maybe get a ticket if we are lucky. If you can’t deliver the service, don’t advertise that you have tickets and availability! Really poor and will do what I can to remove this service from GetYourGuide.
We booked the tour and paid for it. While booking system showed 5 spots available, we booked 3. We started to move towards location and then got the message that they are canceling our booking. Totally ruined all the day plans. Unprofessional. Not recommending.
Have done a lot of walking tours while travelling. I found these guys were really rushing to make it work. The tour guide Mary was excellent, passionate and knowledgeable about the events. Found the people organising this to be pretty abrupt and even uninterested in helping some members who had issues. All in all we our group thought it could have been better.
Informative, historical makes us realize the sufferings of the Jews hard to imagine. Our tour guide was very good and knowledgeable. However, the bus ride experience was not comfortable at all, when the aircon of our mini bus worked only for front seaters while the rest of passengers were sweating from heat. The 3 hours drive back and forth with sweating backs made many of us sick. Our whole vacation in Krakow was partly ruined when many of us got the coughing bug . Exhausted due to coughing bouts..
Not reliable. We booked an English tour with guide and entrance via Auschwitz Tours which is part of polandisamazing.com or royal tours krakow and they cancelled less than 24 hrs before the trip. We had travelled for 3 days just to go to Auschwitz and it was too late to book another tour. So a lot of damage for us and they did nothing to help us. Didnot offer to look for another tour. nothing. Very unreliable!!!!
My wife booked a Auschwitz Birkenau tour last week, we received last minute notice switching our tour time from 12noon to 8am changing our travel arrangements completely, while on the phone with Michal S my wife was asking questions to arrange best option and since we had no choice but to accept the changes we decided to do so and keep the tour, but the representative Michal S at Royal Tours responded arrogantly to my wife, that now he will make the decision to keep our tour or not and hangup the phone. This was Very rude unprofessional experience and this person should never work there perhaps let go from this position/job.
I booked a tour with this company through Headout and less than 18 hours before the start of the tour, we received a whatsapp message saying our tour was rescheduled from 10:00 to 06:30. We really saw this situation so unserious that we decided to cancel the tour and miss one of the tours that we were very interested in doing in our holidays in Krakow. I would recommend choose another tour company, otherwise be prepared for changes, cancellations or miss the tour.
The fact I messed up thinking transport was included sorted out by Micheal at 10pm the night before. Great service Driver was superb and the guide unbelievable and such knowledge and empathy for the place
Very intense trip but the guide made it very Informative. You got to go in a number of the buildings which was pretty intense. This guided tour was worth everything
Avoid these people!! Complete scammers They take your reservation early with cheap price only to cancel it later if / when the process go up! Poor list of excuses from lack of guides, museum being on strike to traffic issues. All lies just for them to sell your tickets to another customer who is paying more. Book from other tour operators and avoid these people
Definitely worth a visit if you are in Krakow. We went mid week so less crowds. We were picked up and dropped back to our hotel by Michael. He took care of everything we needed. We had a guided tour room and both Auschwitz and Birkenau. A must trip to do.
I was kept informed by WhatsApp on the lead up to the trip. Unfortunately our taxi dropped us at the wrong meeting point. I called the tour operator and was told not to worry, the guied would come to us. The tour guide had lots of knowledge and was happy to answer any questions.
They cancelled on us within 15 hours of our tour starting. Would never use or recommend them. Had to cancel our trip to Auswitz. Just bad experience!
- change of visit schedule the day before without proper communication. No changes on our booking schedule in the app. We nearly missed the tour. - no support on site. Wrong info. We finally got a contact via a colleague from another tour operator to get the info, otherwise we would have missed the tour. - because of the undue delay of the tour, we ended up the tour at Birkenau in the dark without seeing anything - because of the rush, some less valid persons in the group could not follow the pace and missed some explanations from the guide - the only positive point is for the guide who was good.
We booked this tour via our hotel with Royal tours, Birkenau was the second stop of two tours the first stop being Auschwitz. When you arrive at Birkenau you park up at a carpark and have to walk 20 mins to the entrance of Birkenau camp. This site is about 20 times larger than Auschwitz, there is a lot of walking on stone / gravel paths which are uneven to walk on. We had a English speaking guide but unlike Auschwitz the guide did not use a microphone with a headset system , so at time it was hard the hear what was being said. If you are a slow walker - us a walking stick you can easily be left some distance from the group and have to keep trying to keep up with the guide. The guide was very informative and provided a excellent overview of the museum and what took place there. If it is raining you will get wet as the majority of the tour is outside in the open. Excellent tour and worth the cost.
Really amazing tour, the guide were full of knowledge and explained very well I had some issue and the customer service was really good too. Looking forward to seeing you again.
Very good tour. Very well translated and great knowledge about the camps. Very thorough and passionate about the topic.
Very knowledgeable tour guide. We really liked her, and unlike some other tours, you get headphones and she speaks into a microphone so you could hear everything. Unfortunately, the tour company reserve the right to change the time of the tour, which they did with us. It started 2 hours later than we had originally booked for, and we had something work-related later in the day that couldn’t be rescheduled, so we had to leave the tour early, missing all of the Birkenau part.
Attention! Don't book a tour at Royal Tours. The company changes the visiting hours at short notice and after the cancellation period has expired on Viator. Unfortunately, our visit to the historical monument was cancelled as a result, because this is 1.) too short-term and the journey is not possible 2.) you search for the company on Google Maps quickly find out that there is a system behind it and 3.) none of the statements made on Viator coincide with that of the company. Simply put, it's fraud.
Wow, from start to finish. After a computer glitch let me book the tour and pay the company reached out and apologized and asked to switch the day, which unfortunately due to scheduling would not work. They figured out a way to make it work and I'm so thankful they did. Very communicative through the whole process. The tour of Auschwitz itself was extremely moving. Tour was well organized, transportation was great, group was perfect size.
I so wish that I had written a list of questions to ask as I feel that this tour was sugar-coated. I cannot blame the tour guide as they are taught how to conduct the tour and the tours for each country are formatted differently, so there is not just the language difference. I only found this out as I had someone translate in Polish for me. There is a lot to see in your time there but there is a lot of things that you do not see like all of the false teeth, children's toys, and many other things that may spring to mind. The dogs were mentioned and that they killed some people, but no details like babies were thrown to them, their teeth brushed with a poison, prisoners told to run and then the dogs were sent off after them and their wounds examined after, and sometimes just used to kill. Also the experiments done, injecting chloroform directly into the heart of twins to see which would die first and see how long the second would live for. Many many more procedures were carried out and no mention of anesthetic being used. Yes, some of it was horrifying, but the world should never forget the level of suffering that was caused to the people that died and the ones that survived and suffered afterwards.
I had a once in a lifetime opportunity to visit Auschwitz in June 2024 and used Royal Tours. I've been studying WW2 and the Holocaust since I was a boy, so this was a dream come true. Sadly, that dream was somewhat hampered by the tour experience. The logistics, while a bit clunky, were adequate, and I felt the schedule was made clear. The bus that transported us was clean and all went well during transportation. Why I've given my experience such a low rating is on account of the actual tour guide. She spoke very quietly and often times very fast, so it was difficult to hear her, even with the headphones transmitter turned to full volume. The entire tour felt very, very rushed. The guide walked very quickly, seemingly with little to regard as to how many people from the group could see or hear her. There was very little time to stop and view the things at the site that are literally there to be viewed and taken in. If you were not in the very front of the group, by the time you got to see an item/"exhibit"/picture/building/etc., the guide was already well onto things after it. After Auschwitz 1, a couple of the people in our group with canes dropped because they missed so much of the tour just trying to keep up. At Birkenau, she made very clearly she was going to walk very fast and that if you weren't able to keep up and wanted to drop off to let her know. She wasn't necessarily mean or cruel in how she said this, but it was incredibly insensitive to anyone with mobility issues, or who may just want take a bit more time. Birkenau is incredibly expansive- there is A LOT of walking. So, if you can't keep up with her pace, you will miss everything she has to say because she does not wait for the group to catch up (again, virtually no regard for where anyone in the group is). I will share that I am an amputee (left leg) and while I'm highly mobile, I struggled a great deal to keep up with her. The terrain is uneven and difficult to walk on, especially at the speed expected. All in all, I am disappointed. There were things I have been waiting my whole life to see with my own eyes that I had mere seconds to take in. And I learned very little because I was only able to hear 5% - 10% of what the guide said. I will likely never have the opportunity to return to Auschwitz, but if I do, I will spend a bit extra to go with another tour company, such as a private tour.
The tour of the Auschwitz and Birkenau camps was something that will live with me forever. Our guide was excellent and was able to give a real feeling of the Camps; harrowing, but something we must not forget. So why the 3 Star review if the tour was so good? The logistics were at best adequate. It took us two and a half hours to get to Auschwitz, with the first hour spent driving around Krakow. The driver did not go on the main motorway (to avoid the toll perhaps?), which added to the journey time. The travelling experience should be avoided for anyone who suffers from travel sickness. Coming home was no better, as we had to wait an hour for the German party to finish their tour. Certainly a trip that everyone should do, but perhaps not through Royal Tours.
So much to see. Definately will leave an impact on you. Lots Of walking involved, wear flat shoes as uneven ground.
The driver was great. Being at the camp was an experience. However, I paid $60 USD and we could not hear the tour guide. She was a little old lady who spoke very quietly. When the other people asked her to speak up she said she couldn't and could only give out a pamphlet on where to go to get more information at the end. I would not recommend you book with this company. They need headphones and a guide that can speak louder so everyone can hear. The price I paid was not worth it as I did not get here anything from the tour guide.
