Our guide, Cornelia, is great. We enjoyed talking with her and learning about the major communist programs and architecture. She really brought to life for us the changes Krakow underwent. Driving around in a vintage communist era car certainly added to our tour experience. We can highly recommend this tour.

We had an excellent Deluxe tour. Cornelia is a brilliant guide (and a very good driver of the old Lada!). As well as enjoying ourselves, we learnt so much from Cornelia about the Communist era of Poland and the Nowa Huta area. The various refreshments were great and the bunker was fascinating. I highly recommend this tour.
Great experience on Sunday afternoon in July. We had Tom as our guide, very knowledgeable, friendly, and a great driver for the old Lada he chauffeured me and my husband around. Mike was very helpful too when’s it came to the booking process. Thank you for a great experience!
If you're even remotely interested in understanding what life was actually like behind the Iron Curtain, book this tour. From my very first email, Mike was incredibly responsive and accommodating, even arranging a tour on a date that wasn't originally scheduled. Everything felt easy and well organized. Our guide, Cornelia, was outstanding. As a Polish local with excellent English, she didn't just recite facts—she answered every question we threw at her, explained the history through the eyes of someone who grew up with it, and shared photos and stories that brought Communist-era Kraków to life. And then there's the Lada. Being picked up in a bright red Communist-era Lada isn't just transportation - it brings the experience to life. (They don't make cars like that anymore!) One of my favorite moments was visiting a neighborhood shop that still retains its original Communist-era architecture and interior. It's exactly the kind of place you'd walk past on your own without realizing how special it is, and that's what makes this tour so memorable. It focuses on the details and everyday life that most visitors never discover. We've traveled extensively around the world, and this wasn't just another sightseeing tour—it was one of those rare experiences that genuinely changed how we understand a place. I would recommend Crazy Guides without hesitation and will do another tour when we're back in town next time.
Great Tour of Nowa Huta today in a retro Lada! Worthwhile to go back to this part if Krakow last visited in 1980! The old dreary blocks remain but newer things there now so was good to realize how lucky we are to have own homes and not 10metre square abodes like existed on the past. Our guide Mateusz was absolutely brilliant and trip was worth it. Highly recommended
Excellent tour by Michal, lots of knowledge and a very funny and crazy guy. The car was also excellent, a mint condition 1984 Lada
An absolute blast! Step outside your usual comfort zone and learn about Krakow post WW2. It's about, how we act, react, move forward and try to understand 'what for' and 'why?' Thanks to Crazy Mike, who was the most welcoming, knowledgeable guide. Honestly, the Adam's apple isn't noticable and always remeber the pig who also came along for the adventure!
Absolutely fantastic experience! Our guide was entertaining and knowledgeable for our trip evening of 2nd. We had lots of laughs and learned loads. Our 2nd trip to Nova Huta with crazy guides and both were brilliant but different. We would recommend going again even if you’ve been before. Best Krakow experience
Mathieu was an amazing guide. Picked us up in his fabulous old Lada and gave us an incredible tour of the communist area of Nova Huta. Very enthusiastic and knowledgeable guide.
My friends and I all agreed this was the highlight of our long weekend in Krakow. Our guide Matt was fantastic. It was great exploring a part of the city we would never have otherwise visited and the green Soviet LADA added a whole extra dimension to the tour
Great overview of the history of Nowa Huta and a fun car to make it more interesting. The guide was friendly and very knowledgeable. Would recommend to anyone seeking to understand the role of communism in European history.
Literally one of the best experiences of my life ! Took my two teen boys 14 & 15 and had sooo much fun and learnt a looot. This tour is worth every penny and Crazy Tom is absolutely brilliant. Teens talk about it weeks on.
My 2 friends and I decided to do the 1.5 hour communism tour last minute whilst we were in Krakow recently as something alternative to do. We were picked up at accommodation exactly at the agreed time and what fun we had. Maciek was really informative and made the whole experience enjoyable. It was like going back in time, folding ourselves into the vintage Trabant for the journey. Completely different experience to being in down-town Krakow. Would highly recommend you give this alternative tour a go if you have time.
It was a wonderful experience, I was moved back to the old days :) Huge professionalism, fun and commitment. I highly recommend
Guide was very friendly and knowledgeable. The route and stops were sufficient to understand and see samples of the entire community. Overall a very worthwhile tour.
I wish there were more than five stars so that I could rate this tour even more. My guide was incredible! He never minded all of my questions, and half the time I didn’t even have to ask because he was so informative. Everyone in the neighborhood knew him and it just added to the appeal of the small area that we looked at. I loved riding in the car and it was a good feeling as if I were there during that time but knowing thank goodness I’m not!!
The best tour! Cornelia had lots of information, and she cheerfully answered all our questions. The car was fun to ride around in, and I now know I like Soviet soda!
The car was fantastic we back to 70s, but was clean and tidy The tour guy amazing well knowledge, sooo funny and kind I didn’t feel the time passed very fast due to the enjoyment Explore Krakow in other sight I’ll recommend it
We had a wonderful tour with Matt, who kindly accommodated us at the last minute. The tour was full of interesting information and Matt was really engaging, with personal stories mixed in with the history. A great insight into this part of Polish history.
We took the tour in Nov, we went with 3 different classic cars through the Nowa Huta area, this in itself was already a great experience. In addition, the guides were really amazing, gave a wonderful and very entertaining glimpse into everyday life during communism times. To top it off it was accompanied by typical drinks and foods of the period. It is a great tour to see a very different part of history, away from the big tourist attractions in the city. Definitely recommend this to everyone visiting Cracow.
It was amazing. I visited it with my friend and my mum and the guy spoke fluent English. Our guide also dressed up as a communist vender and the trip was very interactive overall. I learned a lot of things and had a great time. I would recommend it to everybody!
This is the second time I have done this tour. Mike and his team are brilliant. We chose the basic tour this time and were taken around in a 1990's VW minibus and a Trabant. Definitely worth doing.
We took a trip to Nowa Huta, the Communist-era suburb of Krakow, with Kornelia from Crazy Guides, and we had a great time. She picked us up in a beautiful blue 1990 Trabant, and drove us out to the suburb which was built by the regime to house steel workers and their families. Kornelia was friendly, funny, and chatty. She was also a very knowledgeable guide, and it was fascinating hearing her talk about the Trabant, the former Communist regime, and the past, present, and future of Nowa Huta. She took us to a Soviet-era shop and cafe, ( where we knocked back a glass of vodka at 10am! ) and drove us around the town pointing out interesting buildings, with a running commentary as we drove. We really enjoyed this trip, and would recommend it to anyone with an interest in architecture, social history, and/or cold-war era politics,
We had the brilliantly entertaining Tomek giving us a guided tour in an old Lada around the Nowa Huta district. This is the way 20th century history should be taught! Tomek with his endless knowledge of the communist era alongside some hilarious stories of his youth really made this our favourite tour in Krakow.
Brilliant and fun time travel. I would recommend it to everyone. Top guides, cool cars and great story all around. Merci for everything we enjoyed it very much!
Guided tour of the communist-style neighborhood built by the Soviets during their occupation of Poland. Interesting to see how the Soviets decided to let the Polish people live. Agglomeration of buildings with entry and exit control, Spartan shops with ration cards, squares with statues of Lenin (now disappeared), etc.
Bella esperienza originale e coinvolgente. Molto brava e simpatica la guida. Puntuale è disponibile a lasciarci in un posto diverso rispetto al punto di partenza
A superb day with a relaxed but above all super professional guide. A love of her neighborhood that she knew how to share with us, sharp knowledge, and smile at the rendezvous. As for the ride by trab... unforgettable. The noise, the smell, the look. A great adventure.
