Got off to a bad start when we struggled to get picked up, only because of miscommunication. The man picking us up asked if we were going kayaking, which we weren't, we were going on a long tailed boat. Eventually this was sorted and we were transported to the Mangrove forest meeting point. Here we were separated into groups with numbers, we were group 4. I asked one of the guides if he was group 4, holding up 4 fingers as well. He proceeded to say yes and watched us climb across 2 other boats into what was the wrong boat. Again, eventually, we were guided correctly back across all the boats and into the correct boat. Now, you're probably thinking this sounds bad, you have scored this trip 5 stars............. Well, what occurred next, cancelled all that out and some. The first 30 minutes were pretty uneventful, saw a couple of monkeys and a couple of eagles. Than we got a monkey on the boat. My daughter found this hilarious, the monkey was perched on my head. All the children on the boat proceeded to feed the monkey corn snacks. I understand this isn't exactly healthy, but the monkey eventually went back to it's natural habitat. Probably to throw up after all that food. We then saw another moneky swimming towards us, but it never climbed aboard. Next we went back and were fed lunch, which was some nice chicken fried rice, pineapple and water melon. We were also provided water throughout. Finally we were transported to Lanta old town for an hour at our leisure. We just walked up the row of shops, browsing. Myself and the wife enjoyed our first ever iced latte and our daughter enjoyed an ice cream. It was nice enough, but could not compare to the monkey experience. Fantastic trip, albeit with a couple of minor hiccups.

Disorganised tour overall. Mangrove tour - For an English speaking tour, guides English was not legible. Guide was smoking next to the long-tail engine. Hygiene was a big issue with the cut fruits, a monkey pooped on the deck and when the guide cleaned it up they used the same rag to clean the rest of the deck. Old Town- Uderwhelming. We were given an hour and it was just a path to walk with tourist trap of souvenirs, that's it. Nothing else. Unfortunately I would not recommend.
Loved seeing the monkeys in the mangrove. Viewpoint restaurant was great. I could take or leave the old town experience
This was not a very satisfying experience. We were driven to and from our hotel in a dilapidated open truck and smelled gas fumes the whole way there and back. We were told there would be a guide who spoke English, but that was very misleading. Mostly we just walked around the mangrove forest and were taken by old boat into the waterways around the forest; there was almost no explanation of what we were seeing. Although the people we interacted with were nice, I would not recommend this tour.
Very relaxing boat trip through the mangroves, with a great guide who showed us the wildlife along the river banks. Saw sea eagles as well and monkeys, including one who swam out to our boat for some food. The guide kept checking we were all OK with everything, stopping when we wanted to take photos. Then we had a short ride to Lamta town. Very different to the west side of the island, with traditional buildings. Our guide spoke excellent English, probably one of the best we have come across in Thailand and he told us about the history of the island. We drove up to Viewpoint Restaurant for lunch. A lovely trip!
Nice boattrip along the mangroves with seeing a lot of birds, eagles and monkeys including having a monkey on board for a while.
There are actually 8 itinerary choices and I chose itinerary 1 which was a full day. It was awful. The 'guide' wasn't a guide and barely spoke any English. He just drove the minibus between places. The Sanga-u Sea Gypsy Village was a tiny fishing place. We were there at about 11.30 so nothing was happening and the guide had no info to share at all. He seemed a bit puzzled about why were there at all. The rubber plantation involved almost no info at all. He cut a tree and we watched the white sap (rubber) ooze out. That was it. The mangrove long boat part was pretty chilled and nice enough. Old Town is tiny and just shops but that is hardly the tour operators fault. Lunch was a choice of two dishes and was tasty.
We had a wonderful time - the mangrove tour was very peaceful and well led by the guide, who showed us different monkeys and birds and took us to a fantastic local restaurant (best food we had in koh lanta). Very well organised - the transport arrived at the hotel on time and we finished off with coconuts and a fantastic view. Would thoroughly recommend!
This trip is ideal if you don't feel like active kayaking but want to enjoy the beautiful mangroove with a motorboat. The highlight are the sweet monkeys that come to watch on board. Furthermore, a visit to Old Town is fun because of the more unique souvenirs. And the lunch spot with a view was definitely worth a visit. Because this excursion is strangely unpopular there are probably no other participants and it can be experienced as a private excursion
This is a trip best done early in your visit to Koh Lanta. The trip shows off the entire island and will leave you with a list of places to revisit during your trip. I will say this for the tour - you have to trust the process. Booking it from here on Viator, there isn't a lot of itinerary information, so we weren't sure what to expect. We were taken from our hotel to a cute fishing village that requires an entrance fee of 20baht per person. From there, we went on a longtail boat through the mangroves, met a monkey, learned about the forest and saw a bunch of wildlife. At this point, I assumed the boat was headed to Old Town, but instead we went back to the fishing village and met up with our tour guide and her truck! She drove us all over the island, took us to a beautiful lunch at a cliffside restaurant and shopping in Old Town. Really, an amazing experience and we learned so much about the island.
We saw the important places and we got a lot of information from our guide. It was enough time to enjoy. Tour is a must-have during a stay in Koh Lanta. Many thanks to our great driver and our great guide.
Abholung vom Hotel gut organisiert.
Koh Lanta was a disappointment, first of all everything is extremely expensive, riding a taxi is a fortune. There are no beaches of white sand, the waters were dark but it is normal because it had days of rain and cloudy but the sand is very dark, there are many beaches with rocks. To see beautiful beaches we have to leave Koh Lanta and go to other islands.
Mangrove forest - boat tour, it was interesting. Strolling alone in the Old Town for an hour, but pretty short. While strolling in the old town was lunchtime, it was too hot. Lunch up on the mountain has a nice viewpoint. Fascinated to watch in the distance and found the monkey under the tree. ☺️. Stay for an hour on the beautiful beach and swim under the crystal clear water. Magnificent
A surprisingly wonderful day out! The drive through the mangrove forests was relaxing and exciting because a little he sweet monkey came aboard and we were allowed to feed him fresh pineapple. Lunch then on a great mountain restaurant with great views. Afterwards drive to Old town from Lanta with a little too short time to stroll. Then there's a trip to a great sandy beach - one of my greatest organized trips ever! Highly recommended and all very friendly!
The organizers tried to present the beautiful sides of mangrove forest and Koh LANTA. In the end, however, there is still too much to see. Mangrove forest could have been booked just as privately cheaper. Lookout and restaurant were on the way anyway. A beach that Welt finally visited was no better/different from all others. At the entrance of mangrove area they tried to siphon us another 20,- Baht... without success;) Gipsy village was just dirty, trashed and unpresentable. Food was ok, for special requests you asked for very high prices. By and large, we could have done better in time for the money. Even if the staff were very friendly and endeavoured.
Scenic views of a small island from the harbor, shops of restaurants by the harbor, leisurely evening shopping, restaurants, shops, shops, clothes, Thai temples, Chinese, hills up a view of the old town from a restaurant, viewpoint, affordable food.
