The experience was amazing, we visited the four islands and had time to snorkel in the sea. The stop at Koh Ngai included a delicious lunch and time to relax. Much of the day is spent on the longtail boat as the islands are some distance from Koh Lanta so take plenty of sunblock and a hat. To get to the breathtaking emerald cave, be prepared for a 200-foot swim through a pitch black underground tunnel. Reviews I've seen online made me think this would be done in a canoe but that's not the case. Thank you to the crew who were great and made it a pleasurable day.

The price we paid for four people is a fraction of what we would expect elsewhere. The lunch was flavorful and filling. The guides were knowledgeable and provided snorkeling gear. A great way to spend a full day. Make sure to apply lots of sunscreen!
We felt very unsafe with our tour guide. He did not communicate where we were going or what we were doing. He largely sat at the back of the boat smoking the whole time and threw life jackets at us. He took us to the Cave at high tide when the waves were very rough and said go in there. No one felt safe and he had only one flashlight. My daughter got stung by a jellyfish and they did not have any first aid kit on the boat. We got caught in a bad storm on the way back and the driver got us back safely but it was harrowing. The beach was gorgeous but the snorkeling was not good, so don’t choose this tour to snorkel. Choose it if it is a nice day and you want to get out on the water and make sure you have all the safety precautions you need yourself- think at your own risk.
while the agency is mostly professional , the tour organizer are slow. we ended up leaving the pier at 10:30 and came back at 4:00. Also alot of transport time between the island. so we ended up spending 2 hours in total between snorkeling and the lunch/ beach . waste of a whole day for 2 hours ....
Perfect . The staff are amazing and funny , and took us on a beautiful tour. The cave and the beach was amazing
I don’t recommend Lanta Longtail tour, Koh lanta. We booked with them and they cancelled due to being oversold but never bothered to tell us, so we waited for pickup this morning and no one arrived, I rang them, that’s when they told me that they had no space. I have spoken on the phone to book them and followed up with an email at the time of booking but they did not bother to contact me to cancel. We leave the island tomorrow so didn’t have a chance to book elsewhere, so very angry 😡 the silver lining is I read the bad Google reviews and it looks like it might have been a good thing. I guess I’ll never know. Every time I try to level feedback they say this isn’t anything to do with us…. I rang the number listed on brochure to book and communicated by emailed on lantalongtail@gmail.com
The guys on the boat were fantastic and friendly they were 5/5 however what we didn’t know was that it’s jelly fish season. If you ventured in snorkelling you came out with stings. Everyone on the boat experienced this. So we didn’t go through the cave to emerald lake etc. even the people wearing protective clothing were stung on their ankles :(
We booked this tour in September 2024, we were in Thailand for two weeks Jan 2025 and this was the only tour to let us down, the booking was confirmed several times by the company and I even recieved an email the night before but they still failed to show up, after several heated and rude telephone conversations they finally agreed to return my money but wanted me to drive to a restaurant to collect it, no apology or explanation as to why the trip never went ahead I was trying to support a small business but I will use get your guide or Viator in future, very dissatisfied. Money was returned eventually by bank transfer but we still missed seeing some lovely places as it was to late to book elsewhere.😡
What a fabulous day out. Absolutely fantastic scenery and only short periods on the boat. The secret beach is incredible and the swim through the cave to get there is great fun. Lunch on the beach on the last island was really really good. Would recommend this trip to break up your holiday. Kids would love it too. Some amazing sights when snorkelling. A great day out for sure.
1hr boat ride to the first island, 25mins of snorkelling, then a short ride to the emerald cave, then another 10-15 min ride to the last snorkelling destination. The second spot was much less crowded with other boats and had a bigger area to snorkel in. We then got a lunch on another island which was yummy. The smell of petrol and people smoking in the boat was a bit off-putting, but other than that the trip was enjoyable and great value for money.
Lots of great snorkeling but our boat was too full as they had been greedy. The lunch was fine but a bit cold, a particular highlight was the cave we swam through
Unfortunately weather conditions weren't ideal on the day we went. Big swell didn't make the boat ride enjoyable. It was cloudy and the visibility at the snorkel sites very bad also due to coral spawning. Like every tourist attraction be prepared to share a sight with lots of other boats and people. The staff was very nice and lunch was good. I'm sure on a sunny calm day the experience would be much better.
Absolutely fantastic tour, from the moment we where picked up at our hotel and brought to the pier everything was brilliant. We made our way down the lengthy pier to arrive at I believe there was 4 longtail boats waiting we got on the first boat and it quickly filled up (not uncomfortably just enough people) and we set off .. the captain and the other 2 staff where brilliant and me been me quickly got chatting to them all having a bit of fun and laughing. I am a very poor swimmer so decided to sit out the first stop of snorkeling but my wife was straight in and loved every minute. The guides looked at me as the only one left on the boat and we exchanged a joke about me swimming downwards lol. At the second stoo it was time to hand in our phones and was given chance to swim through a cave in the darkness to reveal a beautiful setting I the middle of an island where they handed back our phones to take photos. (Of course again the guides poked a little fun at me) everyone was given life jackets and I took one as I felt safe in the knowledge that with one I can't go down...right?. We made inside safely but when it came them to leave I got half way and ran into a little bother banging my head a then panic set in, I feared for my life not been able to see properly clinging to the ceiling of the cave couldn't see my wife but within moments the guide appeared grabbed me by the jacket and calmly spoke to reassure I'm safe. Catching my breath while been helped along I felt good and soon emerged and got safely back on the boat. The next stop was snorkeling ( i sat that one out ) my wife loved every minute. Our final stop was to a stunning beach clear water white sand and a stunning setting to end a almost perfect day 👌. Here the staff fed us some perfectly cooked curry, rice, noodles etc and left us alone to wander for about 2 hours before we had to board the boat for the hour trip back to lanta old town pier... Overall would I recommend this trip? 100% yes l!! I can't swim but my wife is a good swimmer I loved every minute so did she. The staff on the baot where both knowledgeable and very friendly and very patient with me when I made the mistake of going in the water when I should have stayed out. So I would like to thank everyone who organised the tour and don't hesitate to book this one if your in lanta
We read about this trip as being one of the best experiences in Thailand. I would not disagree in terms of Emerald Cave which was unique and amazing. The snorkelling however was nothing special - cloudy water and no great depth. A couple of days later we did Koh Haa and Koh Rok which were much better for snorkelling.
What an amazing trip!!! So beautiful and the food was delicious. The crew on the boat could not have been nicer and the stops were just stunning!!! Tropical paradise - the tour company are fantastic- everything ran on time and they went above and beyond to ensure myself and my children had a wonderful day - highly recommend ❤️
We really enjoyed the trip, staffs was friendly, we saw many fishes, swim though the cave was a bit scary for me but it was good experience as it’s was beautiful in the ends.
We liked all the places we saw. The snorkelling was great and swimming through the cave was fun. The lunch was served at the last island where the beach was so beautiful. The staff is very kind and attentive.
Sure the long tail boats may not be for everyone. They are noisy and the sea can get a bit rough but they are iconic Thai vessels and I loved every minute. All stops were well chosen. Lovely scenery, warm waters and lots of fish to see although on our trip they were more easily visible from out of the water than with mask and snorkel. Can’t control the visibility Emerald cave is a must see. Fairly long swim through a dark cave to beautiful lagoon. Life jackets mandatory and crew very helpful and kept everyone safe. Fresh fruit and plenty of water provided. Last stop was the beautiful island of Ko Ngai for delicious Thai buffet on the beach. More swimming and even an opportunity to see hornbills very close. All timings were as advertised and we were picked up and delivered back to our hotel as promised. Can’t fault this trip. Value for money. Recommended!
Great tour but late pick-up (40 mins late). However, tour admin team sorted their mistake. Tour was great, beautiful islands visited. Emerald cave was superb. Drenched on the return journey as it was choppy but that was part of the long tail experience.
A well-organized and fun way to get to know the area. We particularly enjoyed the caves. The lunch was also great and overall the team makes sure you have a good time. If you’re traveling in the area, especially for a limited time, I would definitely recommend it to see the surrounding environment and add to your holiday.
Positives: - delivery and pick-up to the hotel; timely and courteous drivers - price for the whole trip - overall organization, refreshments, food on the island - enjoyed swimming through the caves (may be physically challenging for some; a few people came back) - there is a lot to do, but it is hectic - overall helpfulness of the staff Negatives - 32 people on board (full boat, not like the cool illustration photo) - water splashes on those sitting in the front during the ride - transfers between islands are long - yes, the engine is noisy and smells, especially when you sit in the back - the english of the boys is poor; I didn't understand why I had to hand over my mobile phone halfway through the trip (everything is ok though, they transport the tourists' phones safely through the cave where we then get them for the photo shoot = good idea!) - unnecessary to dive twice, 1x for a longer time would be better - and yes, there will be a lot of people (and other boats) everywhere Conclusion: I would go again, it's a good trip for the money.
Super Organisation , pickup ontime , well organized , good food. Water and fresh fruits on board . Very wet on board
It was a really fun day. Long tail boat had enough space for everyone, there were plenty of watermelon & pineapple offerings. Also a few rounds of complimentary water and also a coke. Snorkelling was great and I saw a lot of fish. Lunch was delicious with a choice of vegetables, fish, Massaman curry, rice and even a few biscuits to top it all off. Plenty of time for snorkelling, swimming and lunch. Hotel pick up was on time and drop off was smooth too. Would recommend this tour!
We started in the morning and got picked up at the hotel which worked without any problems. After a 20min drive, we arrived at the peer and got on the longtail boat relatively quick. The boat was overcrowded and therefore downgraded the atmosphere a bit. It took one hour to get to the first snorkeling spot. The landscape on the way was just beautiful. The reefs were OK. We did see several tropical fish, but there are definitely more colorful and diverse reefs. The second stop was at Morakot cave. Interesting cave with an astonishing beach on the other side. However, many boats arrive here - so it's very touristy and we only had 15 min before we had to head back to the boat. Third stop was another snorkeling spot quite similar to the first one. Fourth stop was Ko Ngai - beautiful beach. We had lunch and stayed for about an hour. The lunch was very basic. Afterwards we headed back to Ko Lanta and brought back to the hotel. In total it was a nice experience, but at the same time a bit dissappointing, quite touristy and we would rather explore these spots by ourselves the next time so that we can have a look at everything in our pace.
WE really enjoyed this tour, the guides were great and had a lot of knowledge of the area and kept us fully informed throughout the day as what was happening and what would be coming up next. Our guide spoke good English also and enjoyed a joke with us that added to the experience. The guides made sure that everyone had time to explore the islands and beaches and stopped at some great spots for snorkelling, all the equipment needed was provided with fresh fruit and soft drinks available. the lunch on the beach was also lovely and plenty of time to chill before returning back to the main land. we enjoyed the trip and thought it was good value for money. I guess the time we went was a quite time as was just out of rainy season and so we had the islands pretty much to ourselves with only a few boats going out daily, i wonder if it would be more busy with more boats going out at peak times, however thinks it worth doing.
Booking experience was quick and easy. Pick up from the resort very comfortable ride and friendly service. Clean well maintained boat with new and clean safety equipment. Indescribable beautiful day and weather with the most amazing snorkeling and fish life. Very tasty lunch and cold drinks and plenty time to enjoy being outside in nature. Fresh fruit and water on the boat. Guides was attentive and helpful. Highly recommended!
The kid handling was super nice but the boat was horrible..i have been snorkeling on boats during my vacations but this was quite bad. The sound of the engine was very loud until it make most of passengers dizzy and nearly vomitting.
We had a good time on this day trip but note that we will not be able to go to Emeralde Cave on low season because of the high sea level and the waves!!! They didn't told us when we booked this excursion so we were a bit disappointed. Food was good 👍 Also we had lunch on a beautiful beach. Don't go if you don't support being on a boat with big waves... We had a good time. We stopped two times for snorkeling where we could see lots of beautiful fishes but not colourful corals as shown on pictures. Good value for money.
Emerald cave and the last beach would be enough, the two first stops for snorkling are terrible compared to pretty much everywhere else we've been in Thailand. Be aware that the longtail trip is at least an hour out and back in what for kids would be considered sometimes choppy water, I would have taken the speed boats if I'd known the amount if times I think and even though the kids onboard enjoyed it, with the conditions of the day I wouldn't bring my own kids for this trip but that all comes down to seastate. Very limited info from the guides compared to other excursions we've been to. Emerald cave makes the trip worth it but I could easily just go there and be as happy as with the rest of the experience.
Absolutely fantastic tour. We were a little wary but the longtail was shady, the staff super attentive and kind and very experienced with all aspects of the trip. Snorkelling over huge living coral reef, surrounded by thousands of brightly coloured fish. It was an experience of a lifetime. The trip into the emerald cave was nothing like as scary as it sounded and way more fun and wonderful due to the way we were lead in. The lunch on crystal beach with white powdery sand, shady trees and clear deep water was perfect. 5 stars to these guys who drive the boat and lead the tour. It went way over my expectations. We’d do it again in a heartbeat.
The visit to Emerald cave was excellent, a fun experience swimming through a pitch black cavern lit by headtorches of the guides, only a couple of minutes through the cavern was a very pretty lagoon. The snorkelling spots were ruined through what I guessed as pollution. The visibility was much poorer than other snorkelling spots in Thailand, perhaps those precise spots are over saturated and could be avoided for a few months? The water was calm so that wasn't the problem with the visibility. The lunch on the fourth island was tasty. The boat was extremely loud leading to discomfort for several people, I suppose the more expensive tours on non longtail boats would be more comfortable. Overall quite enjoyable but a touch disappointing
Thus was our 2nd tour with this company, we booked the long tail boat one after having enjoyed the speed boat phi phi one a few days earlier. Being picked up was straight forward enough, you paid the driver for the tour on collection. There was a bit of waiting round at the pier without much explanation of how long that would take but it was less than 15mins total. The boat isn't as noisy as I expected, perhaps though because I sat at the far side away from it! The tour guide was friendly and knowledgeable and all the staff were very friendly. We snorkelled on two islands, done the emerald cave and then had an enjoyable lunch on the beach. Great value tour
The engine of these long boat were excruciatingly loud. Damaged snorkelling equipment. No coral’s at all. The food was poor quality and not enough per person. The stepladder was just a metal bar. No steps!!! Very uncomfortable and unsafe. The only saving grace of this tour was the emerald cave, beautiful and an experience just getting to it. If u r claustrophobic maybe not for u. Staff were lovely…. making do with what they have. The tour operators are most definitely cutting costs to a minimum at my expense and experience. It was unfortunately imy worst tour in Thailand. And i did quite a few!
My husband and I took our 11 year old twins on the 4 island tour. It was fantastic!! The captain and skipper of the long boat were wonderful hosts!! The snorkeling at the islands was memorable! So beautiful! The crew got us to every island before the other tours arrived!! Lunch on the Koh Maa beach was delicious! After lunch we swam then strolled down the beach to have a drink . We have the best pictures! Looks like we are on a deserted island! Thank you !! Fab time was had!
We had a great trip. Taxi picks you up and drop you off. Water and lunch are provided. A must do trip!
The trip was great, exciting, much more than expected. Lunch was delicious, the Guide was amazing, thoughtful, caring, bright, helpful and sussed. Good deal.
I had one picture in mind of what Thailand would look like, and saw this and more on this fun excursion. We picked the longboat for a more authentic trip on the water. The motor is very loud and the boat rather slow compared to the other boats, but definitely worth doing at least once. The islands were spectacular... pictures nor words are adequate to describe what we saw. What a fun day!
The trip is really cool! You will visit some unique locations, the beach you visit is one of the most beautiful I’ve seen and the crew takes care of you during the whole trip! Two small notes: 1. the snorkeling sights are not that good and 2. the horrendous noice of the motor on the longtail boat. Two small tips: 1. book it through your hostel or hotel (I got it for 600bath) and 2. try to get a spot in the middle or back of the boat or else you will get showered at every wave.. But all in all, I would recommend to do and is definitely worth the money!
This was such a great trip. You visit 4 beautiful locations, drinks and fruits are served on the boat, picnic lunch was great, better than in many restaurants. Tasty and plenty for everyone. The crew was taking care of us the whole time and made sure we had fun! Bring underwater cameras. Our pick up was a bit late to pick us up, but all in all this was an amazing trip!
We did this so we could see some of the other islands near Koh Lanta. It was a great day out. We visited the 4 islands and swam in all places, although a couple of them had jellyfish swimming around as well as almost invisible tiny fish which bit you and actually felt like stinging. We went to Emerald Lagoon which was amazing. Swimming through a pitch dark tunnel is an experience, especially when the guide goes on ahead with the light and you get left in the dark! Some trips organised their people to swim crocodile style holding on to each other. Once inside, it was like being in a Disney film! The last island was a larger one where we had a delicious lunch provided by our boat’s wife. This island was like the tropical ones you see in photos. Make sure you take plenty of sun tan lotion and be careful that you might get wet on the boat because of the spray, especially if you’re sitting up front!!! Definitely a great day out - and the transport to and from was well organised too.
A really nice daytrip, all worked from the beginning till the end. Can only recommend this tour. Loved the Emerald Cave!!!
This was a fun tour, they picked us right up at our hotel and dropped us off afterwards. They had trouble starting the motor at first, so we were a little worried our boat tour wasn’t going to happen-but they got it fixed. Our guide spoke a little English, so was able to tell us us where we were going and pointed out some highlights. We didn’t get offered any fresh fruit as stated in the brochure, but they did provide coke and water. All in all, a fun way to spend a cloudy day somewhere other that the beach!
I will start by saying that we do not snorkel but believe that the snorkel experience is limited and of average quality. Snorkel fans should look elsewhere for a full quality experience. For U$25 do not expect the most memorable dive of your life. Having said that, this tour is incredible and gives access to amazing scenery, including the best beach views we have ever seen. The boats themselves are very rustic but do the job in getting to the sites. The Emerald Cave is absolutely incredible BUT required significant physical strength to swim in and out. Once inside the beach is incredibly pretty, but expect a crowd from many boats accessing the place simultaneously. The Koh Ngai beach is by far the prettiest and most pristine beaches we have ever been to. With lunch included (quite OK for the price), the long stroll and swim at Koh Ngai has to be the closest we have ever been to paradise. Safety is maintained throughout but care should be taken when climbing the slippery metal steps and definitely be ready for a rough swim in and out of the Emerald Cave. Definitely recommended.
The trip was a bit long, but it was worth the visit. This excursion is full of surprises and the scenery is breathtaking.
Excellent experience especially the beach meal at Koh Ngai and the Emerald Cave. We recommend. Guided very nice.
Super guides, all well organized. Very nice day, highly recommended. A must if you are on koh lanta
A beautiful excursion! Great islands, beautiful snorkeling with the absolute highlight of visiting the Emerald Cave and the lagoon!
Great. In addition the good weather was present Only happiness Children were happy to play with fish To be done again simply for fun
Excellente journée et une excursion superbe de découverte des 4 îles. Le personnel très sympathique et accueillant. Je recommande vivement cette magnifique aventure.
